Voujon in Thurrock

Table booked for 7.30 we’re seated at 7.30 our drinks and popadoms came quick and food order taken quickly then the wait a hour and 15 minutes later the food arrived. The service wasn’t good at all the staff seemed miserable and abrupt. Some one in our group ordered the Voujon SPECIAL’ chicken lamb and prawn masala when he got it there was chicken couple of bits of lamb but no prawn we asked the waiter who thought it was a chicken masala, he took the plate tossed the food about a bit and said there’s a prawn and gave the plate back. We will not be going back there use to be nice in there not now. There is plenty more Indian restaurants to go to in Thurrock Voujons loss also we think the waiters are on commission lol all they do is keep asking if you want a drink over and over little bit tedious. Get your act together Voujon

Booked a table of 14 for a birthday,the party was split in 2 to make it easier for the bill. First tables food was served,20mins later the 2nd tables food arrived when the others had all ready eaten,which we all would of liked to eaten together as we come as a family,was disappointed as we have had many of family meals here. The service was a bit of hit & miss,all over the show to be honest. Food was ok but will not be booking a meal here again! Service should be on top it's gone downhill.

My first visit to this restaurant left me pleasantly surprised and thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and the service was impeccable. The food exceeded my expectations, and as a vegetarian, I was delighted to find a decent variety of options. The drinks menu was also a highlight, especially the cocktails which added an extra touch of enjoyment to the evening. Good food, good service, good drinks—this restaurant has it all, and we will definitely return!

Came to the voujon last night for my partners birthday as he loves Indian food, we were absolutely blown away by the food here and will definitely be returning in the future. Firstly, the food is beautiful, cooked lovely, very flavoursome and generous portion sizes. We had papadums to nibble on while we waited for our starters and the condiments that came with them were lush. We were stuffed and couldn’t finish our mains but were given containers to take them home which we will be enjoying for lunch today. The service/staff was outstanding very accommodating, friendly and whenever you wanted something they were always available to serve you immediately, they even gave us a little pot of mango chutney to take home as my dad loved it. The restaurant was clean, warm and cosy. 10/10 for the food and service we will absolutely be returning we are all beyond impressed.

This is a lovely restaurant Been going for years. Staff are always friendly. It’s just a shame they don’t update the decor and give it a good paint job outside. Doing a complete update inside would bring back to the popular place it use to be! And open up the garden for a summer drinking area or out door dinning in the hotter summer times.

Lovely Indian restaurant, food delicious and service exceptional at a reasonable price. Our only concern was the speed, no sooner we were shown to our table they were on us to order drinks and then straight away our meal. It felt like they had rebooked the table after us and they wanted us to eat up and get out. Very friendly service but pushy.

We went new year eve. Reduced menu. The food was average. Chicken hard. DJ was playing so loud you couldn't hear the person opposite you Not worth £35 a head

Our waiter kept staring at my girlfriend’s breasts. She was extremely uncomfortable. This is disturbing behaviour, I was trying to take my girlfriend on a nice date for the evening, to be treated like this. The food was lovely but the service was otherwise disgusting

A group of us have been coming for the tribute nights for the past few years (averaging about 12+), always been a great night, having a laugh with the waiters ect Not anymore! Think we’ll be changing venue for our monthly meet up! Waiters rude!!!! Bad service! Sticker on my sliced tomatoe???? Wtf?! Don’t think we’ll be back again! Shame, we’ve had some fantastic nights!

I don’t usually like to leave reviews like this however the service I received was appalling. The staff also laughed in our faces when we explained how annoyed we was due to the slow service. They told us that the service is slow as they had 2 other big tables in-front of us. The restaurant took too much on, if you cannot accommodate properly for everybody then decline the booking. We got up to leave twice and they begged us to stay saying they will sort us a discount at the end and then offered 10% which was appalling considering our whole night was ruined as we had somewhere else to be. We was seated at 7:30 and received our main at 9:40. Will never return or recommend to anybody.

Nice venue but food was hit or miss, the service was quite slow and the management was very poor. I was brought the wrong main for my meal. The waiter told me that they would bring me the correct main, when it arrived the curry was correct but it had the wrong meat. The dish was bland but I just wanted to finish the meal rather than spending more time correcting the order again. Usually I can overlook these mistakes because accidents happen but this was not the only problem. At the end of the meal we were brought the wrong bill. When the manager brought us the correct bill, they had charged us for the main that they had served in error despite the fact I did not eat it. When this was brought up the manager took one of the mains off of the bill. Generally he had a bad attitude throughout the whole interaction and did not apologise for double charging my main. Only highlight was that the waiter who seated us was polite and friendly, and some of the sides were very nice. Will definitely not be eating here again or recommending to friends.

Love this restaurant the staff are always friendly and very attentive. The food is always reliably delicious and it’s a great meeting pint for our family.

We met up with some friends at the Voujon Orsett Restaurant, a place the Wife and I had never been before, we were pleasantly surprised, visually it looks like a nice large Indian Restaurant, inside it is well set out with plenty of sitting area, but the jewel in the crown is the food, it is absolutely amazing, not one of us could find fault with what we ordered, my Chicken / Beef Rogan was just amazing, very tasty and close to the best Indian meal I have had if not the best, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, even when we were taking a long time to order because we were chatting and catching up, there was no pressure or rushing we were just able to take our time and relax and enjoy the evening, the bill was reasonably priced and I could not find fault in any part of the evening out, maybe the toilets were a bit cosy on the small side but the were very clean and well maintained, part of a good night out is the venue as it can make or break the night, on this occasion in this restaurant it certainly made it, thank you to all the staff and Management that make this such lovely restaurant for a night out, we will be back, Happy customer Kevin 10/10

Had a large gathering for my child's 18th birthday 30 ppl in total food came out hot and not one mistake service was very professional had a lovely meal

I had the evening here for a wake. The place itself was beautiful and it is set in a nice area. The food was also amazing, I had the prawn Kurma. My family all enjoyed their meals too and for most, it was their first time having Indian food! Highly recommend the food! However, the service was not so great, we were rushed to order food and couldn't really enjoy our drinks without someone wanting to take a glass every few minutes. The attitude off of the younger member of staff wasn't great, I didn't appreciate him making nasty comments under his breath either. He probably thought he did it without anyone noticing, but I did. Other than that, the rest of the staff were polite and friendly. Thank you all!

We come here often for family parties this time was my daughter's 18th birthday meal. This was the worse experience we have had slowest service our curry was served then we had to wait 5 minutes for the rice to be served drinks ordered and didn't even receive. Asked for the cake to come out as a surprise and couldn't even do that. As I said we have enjoyed many a good night here but on this occasion was not great. I did make this clear to the manager

The only good thing is the food… when you finally get it! Waited over an hour and a half for our food. We told the waiter and he laughed and blamed the ‘system’, bizarre considering all the tables seated after us had been served!

If you can find a better tasting meal in an Indian restaurant , you will be paying £75 a head in my opinion . And more than likely in a plush part of the world . Service top drawer and vibrant atmosphere . A very pleasant experience and less than £60 for two ! Very clean , can't fault it . Decor bang up to date , no flock wallpaper here

The restaurant was ok ,but service is not the best ,also when they cook food smells in all Restaurant. Food taste is good ,I like that .some plates need to be changed ,have broken corners .

Exceptionally slow service. Granted there were 10 of us and the place was busy but when you place your order at about 8:10, you don’t expect to be eating the main course at almost 10:45! On top of that there was very little chicken in the chicken tikka masala and the source was grainy and not smooth like it should be. The popadoms where charred and the underside of the naan bread was blackened. Lucky, work was paying so we couldn’t be bothered to complain. I’m also glad that I don’t live in the area, this means that I’ll probably never have to step foot in this curry house again. This place was a total let down for my first ever visit to Banbury.

I have now eaten here. In the Voujon many times. I'm aware that in the reviews there are some less than complimentary comments but, in all honesty, I always find the food excellent, the service very good and the staff very happy to help. I know that we were there from 3pm and there were late lunch diners still enjoying their meal. Even a few children in the age range 6 to 16. Parking is not a problem unless they have an event but, I would suggest that the main front entrance is not wheelchair friendly.

STOP replacing lamb and chicken in your curries with Tikka. I asked my waiter if the lamb was cooked with the curry, not just Tikka added to a sauce you assured me it was soft lamb but when arrived was lamb Tikka into cola cube size pieces mixed into a curry sauce. Review 2 15/10/2022 Takeaway ordered: The chicken breast in the Garlic Chilli Chicken was substituted with chicken Tikka, I've had the same curry 5+ times and recieved chicken breast.

My wife and I thought that we would try "Voujon" indian restaurant as it's close by, bad mistake. Chicken wings and onion bargees as starters, chicken wings were well cooked on the outside and raw near the bone. Onion bargees left lots of grease on the plate. This alone should have told me that this was not a good idea. For main I thought that I would try special fried rice ( good ) a peshawar nanny ( very good ) and a Kurma ( a sweet that I couldn't eat it, my wife's main was also ridiculously sweet, both mains were left hardly touched. We arrived at seven in the evening and ten minutes later they started clearing the vacant tables, talk about make you feel unwanted. I write this review from the toilet, not been good since, never again.

If you're in the area no need to look elsewhere. Food is amazingly good! Probably the best curry, naan and rice I've ever had. My partner's food was just as amazing. Prices are right in point. Service is great and responsive, although they weren't full when we went. Atmosphere, decore and cleanliness is also very good, stylish and modern.

Was lovely went for lunch not many people but apparently it's more of an early evening,evening place next time I go will be early evening food was very good delicious in fact will definitely be back.

We visited the Voujon in Chingford for my 18th on 30/6/22. The welcoming was so inviting...the food was moth watering and the service was first class by the constant funny Ruman..he should be awarded for the way he look after his guest from start to finish... To up it all, we finish the night with a surprise birthday cake and complimentary photos taken by i think the owner/manager. Love this place and will recomend anyone to try it out...

We are a party of four and visited here on the 8th of October and today is the 9th. The reason I say this is that the food was that good I couldn't wait to review this restaurant. We were made to feel welcome and weren't rushed when placing our orders. There was a slight wait for the food to come out but when it did it was absolutely worth the wait and it was justified by the quality of the food. All four of us had a different starter and main with a few side dishes, the onion bhajis were superb they were light and crisp as well as not being greasy or oily. In summary this was my wife's birthday meal and it couldn't have been any better, I will be recommending Voujon to all my friends. I would just like to thank all the staff there which includes the kitchen for making this a perfect evening for my wife

This place could be so good, but the food quality just isn't there. I'm actually quite shocked that standard of food left the kitchen. The unfortunate thing is they won't improve because as soon as we were critical of their food they shunned us and treated us like we were the problem. A good rule with feedback: learn from it, listen to your customers and use it to improve your business. I wouldn't go back here unless they had a new chef. There isn't a real chef here, because if there was they'd have tasted the food and it wouldn't have left the kitchen.

What a shambles, no atmosphere, lifeless, worst starter our party have tasted in a long time, prawn starter dry lifeless overcooked acrid burn mess. Paid for our drinks and left disappointed. Try for yourself but I'd pass if I were you.

Nicely decorated inside in a modern contemporary style. We visited on a Friday evening. It was popular and we had booked as was in a party of 8. Food is usual Indian. Staff are polite and attentive. Prices a little high, upwards of £9 for many main courses excluding any sundries.

Not a bad meal, popadoms were stale so they changed them, and ice cream came out totally melted, but did change too.
