This is the best Indian Curry Restaurant in Essex. Food, service and staff are always fantastic! Highly recommended!

Took my nan to celebrate her 90th Birthday. Food and service was amazing as always. Topped off with a surprise treat for the birthday queen including a B52 shot for her, the little sip she had knocked her socks off.

Best Indian/Bangladeshi food in Grays! When I’m craving a curry this is my go to place! Tawa murgh and saag paneer is definitely my favourite dishes! Definitely would recommend this place!

This review is for our experience on 29th, Sept 2024 at 6 pm. This places serves the worst food in the history of humanity. I ordered paratha, the waiter said its not an Indian paratha. Mind you this is an Indian restaurant. So I ordered a chapati instead, right away once brought I could make out it was not freshly done. They just heated up a ready made chapati and served by putting butter on it. Then cam the Paneer Tikka Masala with full of red food colouring and as sweet as a cake. It was ridiculously authentically pathetic. On top of all this was the waiters attitude, his name is Mia and he's from Bangladesh. When I bring all of this to his notice he had the attitude of what am I supposed to do, well you ordered it so now eat it. He was very dismissive about everything. This made the whole experience worse. I would rate this place, the food and the service as a minus inifinity. If you value and respect yourself, don't go to this place. It was my first and also the last time I would ever visit here. I wrote this review to save everyone else's time. Don't go there.

I write few reviews but felt the need to call out the restaurant I first dined in back in the 80's. I got hooked and remained a regular customer (sometimes a little too regular) for 35 years and have many happy memories of my visits, of the good food, great service and friendship with Ali and his staff. I returned tonight after a long absence shortly after the ownership change. I am pleased to say the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen is as high as it has always been. Credit to the new owner for maintaining the high standards and the reputation that had been built up over many years. The front of house staff continue to be a credit to the restaurant. They are very attentive and keen to please without being overbearing and intrusive. It was good to see one of the guys still there from the old days. Amazing he still remembered, my name, was able to reel off my order and address. As for the food, the sheek kebabs, vindaloo, balti, keema rice and the sides were all hot, nicely spiced and full of flavour. In summary, I had a great catch up over a couple of hours with a friend, whilst eating great food in a restaurant that continues to be friendly and welcoming having opened its doors so many years ago. Keep up the excellent work Shampaan. An old customer will now be returning to the fold.

This restaurant is the best! The food arrived 30 minutes early and was piping hot. I enjoyed every last bit, i highly recommend. Also the delivery driver yesterday was so kind and smiley. Thank you.

Always such a pleasure to come here. The service is impeccable, the food is always good and today I was treated to the shampaan special cocktail which was light and fresh with a fruity twist. It also comes in an alcoholic version. Perfect after a warm day.

Had an amazing night at Shampaan for my mums birthday. Accomodated 17 people, fabulous service and delicious food. Staff were wonderful, serving the food, cake and a special drink for the birthday girl. Definitely the best Indian in the area and the best peshwari nann bread 5*

This was the only Indian we would eat from, use to be so good, last time we had it it wasn't so great but thought we would give it another go, unfortunately we will be finding a new Indian takeaway from now, had a delivery this evening and the quality has gone right down hill. The bombay potatoes have changed so much and the sauces in the curry is awful. Didn't taste like a Balti and the passanda didn't taste like a passanda should. Use to be so good such a shame.

Again after faultless ordering for 2 months. They go and spoil it with a poor curry. These places think they can fob of regulars with 3rd rate curry.I have spent over 100 pound a month on takeaways and now it seems they dont care. Time for a change .

That food was absolutely not cooked to order, meat was overcooked and chewy, lid not secured properly, sauce everywhere, bland and tasteless…most of it went in the bin…which is probably what I should’ve done with the £42 I just wasted on this rubbish.

Naan was burnt on the bottom. Food was below average for price. Driver rang the doorbell over and over while banging on door and hitting the letterbox, disturbing neighbours. When asked why, couldn’t care less. Cheers pal, won’t be ordering again👌🏼👍🏼

Great food, one of the best Indians ever visited. Recommended chefs special dish when asked what I like and it was fantastic. Girlfriend has Salmon Bahar most times and loves it. The service is second to none, they remember your name and what you like. I take ages to decide on menu and they leave me to it until I am ready. Going again tonight for 10th visit. Also usually a complimentary drink after your meal. 5 star for me.

Shampaan is a great place to eat . Eating in or having a take away the food is always superb . Shouab , Azad and the staff are fantastic .

Rude waiters who seem to not want to serve you, greasy overpriced food that made us ill. They can’t keep other customers under control either, rowdy and loud. You’re in a restaurant not a zoo?! Lazy management. Wouldn’t return if you paid me to. There are far better Indian restaurants in Thurrock.

I wouldn’t recommend ordering delivery from this place. We ordered at 5.30 PM and at 7.10 PM we still hadn’t received our delivery. So we called the restaurant and they said it had been delivered. The guy on the phone was so rude and arrogant and hushed us off by saying “i don’t know. Call deliveroo. It says it was delivered nothing we can do”

£4.95 for 2 cut up cubes of chicken tikka and £5.50 for 3 miserly “prawn” spring roles which had NO hint of prawn! Horrendous!

Was a very nice sit down for the family, we ordered quite a bit of food that came in a timely manner and very delicious. The service was responsive and excellent. Food was very good would recommend ordering a Biryani was one of the highlight meals we had. Would recommend a visit if you want a casual sit down curry with the family. Will visit again soon.

Visited this place on a saturday, was a busy night to visit but service was quick and food was swift. They have your usual assortment of drinks you can find at restaurants, other than the alcohol everything else was halal which wss very good. The staff was able to facilitate the food to my fafamily's spice levels. My favourite was the shampaan special king prawns and the tandori chicken. Prices are good for the big portions they give compared to other places I've been to in London. Would recommend giving the place a go if you are around the area probably after a shop at lakeside.

Our family regularly order food from shampaan but tonight we found a human fingernail in the food!!!!! GROSS!!! My sister took a mouthful of her chicken korma and spat out someone’s nail!!!! We called the restaurant and they was very dismissive, reported to Uber eats shampaan offered to bring a new one out but it completely put the family off eating the rest!!! Waste of £50 on food nobody could eat !! Ordering from Captain korma from now on only!!!

Can't believe I've never given a review for Shampaan! A+! Me and the wife have been going here for 6 years now and when people visit we always take them here to show them the best Indian food around! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, atmosphere is warm and cosy, along with Indian music and lights around the ceiling. Anyway.... The food! We just can fault it. I always try a different starter and always enjoy it. On Sunday they do a great deal, £14.95 which includes a starter, main, side and rice from 13:00-16:00hrs. Chef specials and seafood included but at an additional cost. We always have to ask for takeaway boxes and we just can't finish the meals but don't wanna waste them. Provided with hot towels from packets at the end and offered a complimentary small spirit at the end - always like the touch when it's offered. There's a s dessert menu that we try to squeeze in but really isn't possible every time. There's a decent sized car park round the back but also free street parking if you can find it. This is our favourite Indian restaurant and even when we move we'll definitely keep coming back!

Restaurant itself is lovely and always a nice experience. But home DELIVERY is appalling. 4-5 x now I have ordered beer with my curry, only for the curry to arrive, but no beer. The restaurant seem unphased at the fact when you are ordering a curry with a beer, you want to have them together! I have to call each time and they never offer a refund, it’s always a redelivery of the missed beer some time later

Enjoyed our meal and the service provided with it .the food is well presented with plenty of meat in both lamb and chicken dishes. The inside decor is lovely and service is top notch with a complementary drink to finish . The bill was £25 a head , about average . All in all we’ll no doubt be back
