Village Indiya in Thurrock

Had a reservation booked for tonight at 8pm, unfortunately we weren’t able to make it due to personal circumstances and didn’t have the time to call before hand to cancel. Around the time of my booking I recieved a phone call from a member of staff screaming down the phone at me for not making my reservation saying I am ‘losing them loads of profit’. I found this very unprofessional and has tarnished my view as a regular customer. I explained my circumstances which the member of staff seemed to have no time for and if anything aggravated him more. I am really disappointed as I am a regular customer here and have always enjoyed dining in.

Brilliant service..Brilliant food

Very few people only go once to Village Indya. The quality of the food and the friendly service turns even casual visitors into regular customers.

We have tried so many Indian restaurants around Essex and London and can easily say that this is one of the best. We went again last night and again it was 10/10. The staff are brilliant, as soon as you walk in your made to feel welcome. Every dish we have had tastes different, so many times we have been to places where the same sauce gets used on everything but not here. The sag aloo I had last night was the best I’ve had and the chicken bhuna was in the same bracket. Can’t wait to go back again, thanks all for another fantastic evening

Food was nice, but the white lady behind the bar was just a nasty piece of work. Rude genuinely isn’t enough to describe her behaviour.

I recently dined at Village Indiya and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The hospitality was top-notch, and it was clear that the team genuinely cares about their customers. The food was delicious, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors. I highly recommend Village Indiya to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience. I will definitely be returning! - Terence

Been here several times now, always the food is amazing! Service is incredible with very friendly wait staff. Always feel very relaxed in here and everything is a reasonable price!

Food was mediocre. We had a vindaloo, was quite hot but not much taste when I compare to other Indian restaurants. Service was pretty good and they gave a complimentary drink which is a nice gesture.

Service and staff was spot on made my daughter feel very special on her birthday. We had a wonderful evening. The only criticism was chicken was a little over cooked.

The chicken tikka and lamb chops didn’t have the same flavour as when I came in march. In March when I came down the flavour of the chicken tikka and lamb chops were very nice and were cooked to perfection however since making a visit in May it wasn’t the same.

They are victims of fake spamming from Taj Orpington. The venue is good and food great

After trying a tonne of different Indian restaurants, this is honestly the best Indian restaurant within a 10 mile radius! The Saag Paneer and the Chicken Karma Sutra curry are unreal!

Food always excellent and staff so welcoming and friendly. We think it is the best Indian in Essex, we travel from Brentwood to come here!

First visit . Food was fantastic from the poppadoms to the venison korma with rices and sag aloo . Service was unobtrusive but there when needed . Highly recommended . Will be back .

Dropped in after 6.00pm with no reservation. We were sat at a small table in the middle isle. Constant traffic of Waiters passing either side of our small table with the occasional smell of body odour coupled with a high level of general noise. It was like eating in a school canteen. This restaurant is living on its past reputation which has long gone. No one asked if everything was to our satisfaction during our meal. The food was average. The staff were in a hurry to get us in and out as soon as possible. Will not be going back to Village Indiya.

Could have more options for vegetarians. No proper curry based option available. A bit disappointing.. nice ambience n services was perfect but the food :(

I previously posted that this was a great restaurant, and have recommended to others. However after having a takeaway from here last weekend I am sad to say that myself and family were really disappointed. We have visited or had takeaways several times over the last few years and the standard had been consistently good and the same. We ordered dishes we have had previously, however what arrived they were completely a different standard. In particular the Gurkas Revenge, for example, was completely different from what we had before, it was watery, full of colouring, and not nice. Sadly we will not be eating from there again. Such a shame!

Best Indian for miles. Whole family regularly travel here on a Sunday. Its always very busy with lots of other families having dinner through the afternoon and evening.

Great menu, food is authentic, flavoursome, and fresh 👍 staff are polite and attentive. Nothing is never a problem for them. Went for my partners birthday Saturday. It was packed as usual and very loud as they had a few large parties in, as there were only two of us we were seated in the middle of the restaurant which isnt great when busy, people passing to go the toilet, staff back and forth serving food and someone's coat in my lamb rogan josh not good. Note to self next time, request a different table.

First time here 16 of us for my Mums birthday, was expecting to be rushed out as some restaurants do but they let us take our time even thought it was busy. The service was spot on, staff are very friendly and will accommodate to your dietary needs, the food was also spot on, best I've had in Grays. This will be a takeaway and dine in spot for the family from now on, thank you Village Indiya for a pleasant visit.

The table was in the middle of the restaurant. When the waitress served the table to the right, she knocked the table. The noise in there was high , food was ok.

Portion was less but food is very nice.Staffs were so welcoming. Will definitely visit again

Popped in for a takeaway on a Wednesday evening at1915 and it was almost full! Was given a free cobra which was nice. Got food home crispy prawns were still crispy and delicious. Goanese prawn curry with a good Naan was perfect

Absolutely wow, this place never fails to disappoint. I had king prawn shaslick which was full of flavour and the king prawns were a good size. We also had lemon rice, onion bhaji's and sag paneer. The sag panner they do is probably the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended. The service is also amzing. Thank you Village Indiya.

Best indian food by far. Tried most around and this tops it. The veg biryani is the best bursting with flavour as is the sauce u pour over it 👌 fast service, polite staff & cosy inviting atmosphere.

This restaurant has got the wow factor. The best Indian meal I have had for a long time. Flavour of the chicken was fantastic, service very friendly and very good. We are lucky to have this restaurant locally just wish they offered a delivery service,

easily the best indian restaurant in south essex and quite probably all of essex. dishes are delightfully prepared with fresh, quality ingredients and the difference in taste is clear staff at village indiya are second to none and prices are very reasonable too

Service is 10/10, the staff are very quick to help with anything you need. As for the food, if I could give it an 11/10, I would. My recommendation is the chicken karma sutra, however, the venison korai was beautiful, almost wish I ordered that upon having a piece. Cobras on tap, you can’t really complain. Very happy customer, and although this is my second time here, I’d certainly think making the trip from Southend is worth every penny.

Come here for a date night with my husband and wow the food is out of this world. Also the staff are so friendly and kind attention to detail is spot on. The restaurant is so clean and lovely decorated I will be returning with my family again and children also. Highly reccomed this restaurant and food is 5star and more

Best Indian restaurant in Thurrock, and probably well beyond as well! Always buzzing and busy but with excellent service and friendly staff. The food is incredible, with the standard favourites as well as some amazing signature dishes. The lamb shank curry is incredible!

Great food as always, but… we came for a meal to celebrate a family birthday as we have done dozens of times over the years. This restaurant is a family favourite & the food is absolutely amazing. However, last night at the point of paying the bill was split equally between 3 family members with each total being rounded up to a nice even number to add on the tip. The first 2 members paid exactly the same amount, but when it came to the 3rd member of the group who was sitting furthest away from the waiter taking the card payments, instead of charging the the same as he had done twice already, he added an extra £10 & then held the terminal price towards himself so the last member had to just reach out & make contact with the back of the machine to pay, without seeing the charge. It was only that a member of the group seated closer noticed at the last second that additional money had been added on as it was in very big, bright digits facing the waiter. The general feel at the time from all was that this did not feel like an accident. The last member of the group to pay was a more frail member of the party which we obviously feel was seen as an easier target for such a ‘mistake’. Only £10, but if you add this on a handful of times here & there it certainly adds up. Also to add, Village Indiya is a restaurant with a really great reputation, we don’t think that this is something the restaurant would engage in, but clearly a ploy from an individual trying to make a few quid extra. We were left feeling disappointed. Keep an eye on your payments!

Best Indian around Grays by far we had a large group & the quality & level of service was fantastic. Tareq the manager made sure everything was on point. Best Indian for quality and service in the area. Always well looked after here despite being so full, appreciate the hard working nature of the staff who give this place its charm and buzz.

I went for dinner with my wife, Village Indiya was nothing short of impeccable. The staff members were attentive and friendly. The waiters were knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and accommodating any dietary restrictions or preferences. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the Lamb Jalfrezi and King Prawn Puree.

Very good. Pretty expensive but I didn't mind paying as I really enjoyed the food.

My husband and I went to Village Indiya on Monday, 8th May, but - sorry to say, we were disappointed. The food wasn't exceptional: the poppadoms weren't crispy and the onion bhajis weren't hot enough, though we decided to eat them. When we'd finished, our table had begun to be cleared by different waiters and we had to keep saying that we hadn't yet had our main course. When our food did arrive, we had to send it back to be heated, as it wasn't hot enough. We are very unlikely to return. The only reason we would go back, is to experience the attentiveness and delightful disposition of the server, whose name is Olympia.

Visited Village Indiya Sunday 16th April with friends as this is our favourite Indian we go to. I have never had a bad meal until today, I ordered buttered chicken however the sauce was completely split and curdled and the chicken was dried out and tough. It was the worse meal I’ve eaten. I explained to the waiter that I wasn’t happy with the meal and he couldn’t really understand what I was saying and kept saying thank you. He eventually understood what we said and replied he will speak to someone but no one came back to ask what was wrong. The bill came up with my meal still on it and as we was with friends we didn’t want to make them feel uncomfortable so paid the bill without challenging them. I feel the standard has gone down hill and afraid will not return in the future.

All i can say is,this is without a doubt the best indian restaurant that i have been to!! Every sunday i get a takeaway from village india,never been dissapointed,the chicken is soo freshly cooked and the lamb is unreal! The spices are amazing! The guys who work there are always very welcoming and just cant fault the place! Please keep your chefs and staff 🤣 i advise anyone to try there chicken/lamb tikka kama sutra 👌

Perfect lamb and overall the food quality was brilliant. This place never fails to dissapoint and I am lucky to live so close to this masterpiece of a resteraunt.

Normally a brilliant service and food. However today 11th Feb we made an order for a takeaway and was told it would take half an hour. We got there on time and waited a further 45 minutes. When we got it home some of the order was wrong. Rang them and went back to collect it. There were 5 people waiting outside the restaurant for their orders and all were angry about the slow service. Order was now correct but cold. Don't know what's going on with your restaurant. Very disappointing!

1 of thee best Indian restaurants ever. Staff are phenomenal especially Kayzer Friendly and quick food. Food is so lush!! 😋 If your lucky you might even get a cheeky comp drink. I will 1000% recommend this place.

Have left the old review below but needed to update as I finally went for a meal there. Took my Ukrainian refugees there to celebrate my birthday. They’d never had Indian food before and said it was the nicest meal either of them have ever had. Have to agree. Food was amazing and the service impeccable. Got the deserved 5th star. Been meaning to try this place for ages. Decided to go for a takeaway to start. Sadly they gave us a carton marked pilau rice which actually contained Bombay potato. Didn’t discover it until we got home. Called them and the manager himself drove over (we live several miles away) and was there in minutes. Easy mistake to make in a busy kitchen but they owned their error and made it right quickly. Great customer service. Oh, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Absolutely brilliant food was welcomed in as soon as we got through the door excellent service throughout the whole of the meal down to when we was leaving we was given hot wipes to clean our hands I never once see any of the workers stand still they was always on the go and never disappointed would defiantly recommend to anyone who wants a great meal out or takeaway

I have lived in the area for over 20 yrs and usually get a delivery. This food was amazing. The best i have had in w-yrs in the area in terms of a takeaway. I was even given a beer whilst i waited a few...

Couldn’t fault it. Food was absolutely delicious. Service was top notch. Couldn’t do enough for us. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area.
