Taste of Aveley in Thurrock

All the food was amazing, we both othered chicken tikka masala and the sauce was so creamy and flavourful!!! Amazing meal! And the coffee was so rich and creamy. Extremely good prices!!

We have been visiting Taste of Aveley ‘rays’ for years. A family run business which has stood the test of time in a struggling industry. Tonight’s food was exceptional, the lamb rogan Josh meat just melted and was so tasty, the chicken madras was the right side of warm with a lovely thick sauce. Our 2 year old ate all of his chicken purée and rice: the waiters are attentive and staff go above and beyond to make your meal enjoyable. Thanks Ray & Co.

Amazing place, amazing food! Cannot recommend this place more, the food is amazing and priced fairly. Staff here are amazing and very attentive. They have parking at the rear of the building which is a plus. Highly recommend for dine in or take away!

It may have been a one off but on a Saturday we booked a table for 5 people as eaten there before. Firstly when ordering drinks the Cobras came up Warm. Never seen a fridge ever. Replaced it by beer on tap. However that was the start of a terrible evening. My son when eating his poppadoms got something hard in his mango chutney? It turned out to be hard shards of sharp plastic. Then I found a piece too. We brought it to the attention of the Staff who apologised and replaced. Fine we thought until the next batch of sauce contained bigger pieces of plastic (size of a finger nail) So again we complained to the Manager who could not understand but apologized and assured us he had removed the sauce. Our Mains arrived and noticed the Tikka was very dry and the onion bhaji were burnt and shriveled up. Anyway next to us a new party of people arrived and to our amazement a lady just pulled out further plastic shards from her Mango chutney for which we informed her we had already complained. This piece was even bigger and sharper and you could have definitely choked on it. So the same manager came over and then basically lied to us saying it was in the packaging from the onion well the complaints was not about the Onions. Anyway the final insult to us was when presenting us with the bill! Now we never asked for some form of discount or even a gesture but the Manager said oh I have removed the chutney from your bill? It's free and what is the point of having poppadoms if the sauce are not up to standard! On the basis of this I asked for the poppadoms to be removed for which he did Begrudgingly. We paid up and left and noticed other people Sivving through there mango chutney. I do hope they took heed of this and removed a potential dangerous choking hazard. Even he had stated several he had thrown the whole batch away??? Which obviously was a complete Lie. Our intention was to simply inform the management of the danger to health but it seemed cost was more important It could have turned out a whole lot worse if someone had swallowed the shards of plastic which my son nearly did. I won't be returning again That is a shame

Meal tasteless and waiters unresponsive to complaints. My wife had the tandoori king prawns which were extremely tough, I had a medium king prawn curry which had barely any taste whatsoever. The bill was delivered with no apology at all. In hindsight I should not have paid!

Just had the most average curry ive ever eaten. Im sure ive cooked a better one myself using a jar from tesco. Wont order again.

The price of an Indian takeaway for a family of 7 makes it a special treat. I searched online and decided to buy the set meal with a few extras. I can say that the price was at least a third of any other takeaways in Thurrock. It was surprisingly good and lots of leftovers for another meal the following day. Would recommend.

Went there Friday night on the 1st of December for my local work Xmas due was bout 20 of us . I was really impressed with the food and the service . I thanked the chef's personally as I really enjoyed the food . Thank you so much .

Booked a table to accommodate a party of four, one an elderly wheelchair user. Staff so welcoming and polite, helpful, who knew the menu and can advise to taste. Great choice of meat and vegetarian options available. Food was traditionally served, hot, sizzling and a delight to see. Food tasted as good as it looked, each dish was beautifully flavoured and generous portions. Offered a complimentary drink, when the staff found out it was our elderly relatives 78th birthday, lovely touch so kind, many thanks. Good choice of drinks available to suit both drinkers and non drinkers. Clean toilets, disabled facilities. Parking available at rear of premises. I recommend and will definitely use again. If your passing pop in or book a table.

The food is really nice in there the draught beer has a funny taste. Bottled beer is better, but not very cold. Service is very good and the staff are polite. All in all great atmosphere. Would have given a 5 star if it wasn't for the beer.

Have had loads of meals here - and also delivered - and they have always been excellent. The staff are so nice and friendly and always give a personal service. So lovely when they remember what you drink!

Good food, even better prices. Only problem I had was the smoke from the kitchen creeping into the dining area, which lacked ventilation; resulting in a hot and sweaty dining room. Other than that, staff were lovely, service was quick.

Love this place, my family are locals and visit frequently. The food always comes out sizzling and is cooked to perfection. I've recently moved to purfleet and had a friend come over to view the new flat . We settled for Indian and visited here for a meal . What a good choice it turned out to be . Dont be fooled by the appearance of the place ! The food is what matters and it has to be up there with one of the best curries I've had . My friend said exactly the same . So I've found my Indian takeaway ! Put it in the phone etc . Give it a try you won't regret it .

We had Christmas dinner at this nice little Indian restaurant. Clean environment, and good service. Being of Indian origin myself I wouldn't class it authentic Indian food, but the food was reasonably good for the price they charge.

I parked my car on their premises while I was dining there and a couple of weeks later I received a parking fine for 60 and still not refunded even though it was a mistake for me to get a fine I would never dine in there again your response is a lie you just told me there is nothing you can do to sort this out my advice is don’t go there very badly run

Just been to this restaurant for the first time since beginning of pandemic and as usual wasn't disappointed. Dom putka is an outstanding dish! I took another portion home for supper/ breakfast 😊

We always come to this Indian and since lockdown have many a takeaway from them. This place is such a friendly family place. Lovely atmosphere. Food is always delicious and nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Ray is a great guy and has a great team too. Food is alway great and piping hot too. Lovely place to go and have a nice quiet meal and a drink.

We come to this restaurant and eat in once a month, today we ordered a takeaway because obviously the situation with Coronavirus. We understand abit off a wait time don’t get me wrong but we ordered 2 orders at 18:05.. 1st order was £25 second order was £44 (same house but separate families) we got told our food would be 45 minutes. 1 hour and half later our food wasn’t here, we called the restaurant they said it would be there in 5 minutes, another 15 minutes later it still wasn’t here. The delivery driver was sitting outside for 5 minutes then knocked on my door with only 1 order which was the £25 I asked where the other order is and he replied I don’t have it. When we opened the food it was stone cold, be called the restaurant and they hung up. We then called back for the second order and they told us it has been delivered when it hadn’t!! At this time as a family we are fuming we was calling Every 5-10 minutes.. they then explained the delivery driver is out with the food but is lost so they are cooking it fresh. 3 hours later the £44 order turnt up.. yet again freezing cold so they clearly just went and collected it from the other driver and brought it straight to us so lied about cooking it all fresh. Absolutely disgraced with this restaurant as we are regular customers. But will never ever use these again

Found as a 'find me a curry-house on my route' Maps search. Struggled as not-local to find parking but the restaurant was easily found. Unpretentious and with a good but modest menu the ToA was clean and comfortable and we were warmly welcomed. Service was quick and attentive, and our meals excellent. Good curry at a very reasonable price. The Maps review and rating is right! Will definitely use again next time we're in the area.

Liked the Chicken Madras just took a while to deliver but it was Saturday evening.

Came here to have a takeaway while staying in a premiere inn. The staff were very nice, and the restaurant had 2 families eating in it so families are well looked after. The food was very nice and for 2 curries, 2 rice, 1 side 2 naan and 3 popadom it was £21 which I thought was good value. Only slight downer were the naan was a tad dry, think it may have been yesterdays (we got there just as it opened). But only a slight issue not a big deal at all and the curries were so beautifully flavoured with real depth of flavours. Delicious.

Complete dissatisfaction for my delivery. Food had foreign particles(hairs) to which i was not granted a refund. £22 in the bin

Food amazing Staff friendly and helpful

Honestly I have nothing but good words. This place was absolutely fantastic; the food, the atmosphere and the service. All the staff was very friendly, especially Mintu and Tanzeel. Not to forget the owner Ray always shows the greatest hospitality and the most friendliest welcome. I had the chicken tikka biriyani, garlic chicken, and a new meat dish they have on the menu (forgot the name). Absolutely smashing with a pint. This place has become my Thursday night regular and is always my most recommended curry house. If you want smashing food and company I highly recommend coming here. Will be having my daughters grad party here next month and honestly can’t wait. Normally most places lack consistency but never with Taste of Aveley. 10/10 for everything. Make sure you give it a try.
