Taste of Aveley in Thurrock

I was staying nearby, so I grabbed a takeaway with a friend. I had a Lamb Boona, it was ok but not amazing. The meat was fairly gristly and the sauce was nothing special either for me anyway..

Pleasant enough food but all very mild in spiciness. Service efficient but the most miserable waiter in the world! Good prices.

Went there Friday night on the 1st of December for my local work Xmas due was bout 20 of us . I was really impressed with the food and the service . I thanked the chef's personally as I really enjoyed the food . Thank you so much .

Booked a table to accommodate a party of four, one an elderly wheelchair user. Staff so welcoming and polite, helpful, who knew the menu and can advise to taste. Great choice of meat and vegetarian options available. Food was traditionally served, hot, sizzling and a delight to see. Food tasted as good as it looked, each dish was beautifully flavoured and generous portions. Offered a complimentary drink, when the staff found out it was our elderly relatives 78th birthday, lovely touch so kind, many thanks. Good choice of drinks available to suit both drinkers and non drinkers. Clean toilets, disabled facilities. Parking available at rear of premises. I recommend and will definitely use again. If your passing pop in or book a table.

The food is really nice in there the draught beer has a funny taste. Bottled beer is better, but not very cold. Service is very good and the staff are polite. All in all great atmosphere. Would have given a 5 star if it wasn't for the beer.

Have had loads of meals here - and also delivered - and they have always been excellent. The staff are so nice and friendly and always give a personal service. So lovely when they remember what you drink!

Good food, even better prices. Only problem I had was the smoke from the kitchen creeping into the dining area, which lacked ventilation; resulting in a hot and sweaty dining room. Other than that, staff were lovely, service was quick.

Love this place, my family are locals and visit frequently. The food always comes out sizzling and is cooked to perfection. I've recently moved to purfleet and had a friend come over to view the new flat . We settled for Indian and visited here for a meal . What a good choice it turned out to be . Dont be fooled by the appearance of the place ! The food is what matters and it has to be up there with one of the best curries I've had . My friend said exactly the same . So I've found my Indian takeaway ! Put it in the phone etc . Give it a try you won't regret it .

We had Christmas dinner at this nice little Indian restaurant. Clean environment, and good service. Being of Indian origin myself I wouldn't class it authentic Indian food, but the food was reasonably good for the price they charge.

I parked my car on their premises while I was dining there and a couple of weeks later I received a parking fine for 60 and still not refunded even though it was a mistake for me to get a fine I would never dine in there again your response is a lie you just told me there is nothing you can do to sort this out my advice is don’t go there very badly run

Been here four or five times and so far its been a very pleasant experience, the foods good and the prices modest, the service is attentive, but not overpowering

Just been to this restaurant for the first time since beginning of pandemic and as usual wasn't disappointed. Dom putka is an outstanding dish! I took another portion home for supper/ breakfast 😊

Had a vindaloo last night, fantastic, best curry I've had in a long time, friendly staff.

We always come to this Indian and since lockdown have many a takeaway from them. This place is such a friendly family place. Lovely atmosphere. Food is always delicious and nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Ray is a great guy and has a great team too. Food is alway great and piping hot too. Lovely place to go and have a nice quiet meal and a drink.

The food was really good and the service was excellent. For a small restaurant they managed really well with COVID changes, better than some bigger food places.

We come to this restaurant and eat in once a month, today we ordered a takeaway because obviously the situation with Coronavirus. We understand abit off a wait time don’t get me wrong but we ordered 2 orders at 18:05.. 1st order was £25 second order was £44 (same house but separate families) we got told our food would be 45 minutes. 1 hour and half later our food wasn’t here, we called the restaurant they said it would be there in 5 minutes, another 15 minutes later it still wasn’t here. The delivery driver was sitting outside for 5 minutes then knocked on my door with only 1 order which was the £25 I asked where the other order is and he replied I don’t have it. When we opened the food it was stone cold, be called the restaurant and they hung up. We then called back for the second order and they told us it has been delivered when it hadn’t!! At this time as a family we are fuming we was calling Every 5-10 minutes.. they then explained the delivery driver is out with the food but is lost so they are cooking it fresh. 3 hours later the £44 order turnt up.. yet again freezing cold so they clearly just went and collected it from the other driver and brought it straight to us so lied about cooking it all fresh. Absolutely disgraced with this restaurant as we are regular customers. But will never ever use these again

Found as a 'find me a curry-house on my route' Maps search. Struggled as not-local to find parking but the restaurant was easily found. Unpretentious and with a good but modest menu the ToA was clean and comfortable and we were warmly welcomed. Service was quick and attentive, and our meals excellent. Good curry at a very reasonable price. The Maps review and rating is right! Will definitely use again next time we're in the area.

Liked the Chicken Madras just took a while to deliver but it was Saturday evening.

Came here to have a takeaway while staying in a premiere inn. The staff were very nice, and the restaurant had 2 families eating in it so families are well looked after. The food was very nice and for 2 curries, 2 rice, 1 side 2 naan and 3 popadom it was £21 which I thought was good value. Only slight downer were the naan was a tad dry, think it may have been yesterdays (we got there just as it opened). But only a slight issue not a big deal at all and the curries were so beautifully flavoured with real depth of flavours. Delicious.

Complete dissatisfaction for my delivery. Food had foreign particles(hairs) to which i was not granted a refund. £22 in the bin

Food amazing Staff friendly and helpful

Honestly I have nothing but good words. This place was absolutely fantastic; the food, the atmosphere and the service. All the staff was very friendly, especially Mintu and Tanzeel. Not to forget the owner Ray always shows the greatest hospitality and the most friendliest welcome. I had the chicken tikka biriyani, garlic chicken, and a new meat dish they have on the menu (forgot the name). Absolutely smashing with a pint. This place has become my Thursday night regular and is always my most recommended curry house. If you want smashing food and company I highly recommend coming here. Will be having my daughters grad party here next month and honestly can’t wait. Normally most places lack consistency but never with Taste of Aveley. 10/10 for everything. Make sure you give it a try.

Great food, great value, friendly owner, Ray. Have been going here for 20+ years, almost as long as Ray has owned the restaurant. Don't think I have ever paid over £20 / head when with large groups of friends - this would include loads of poppadoms, various starters, far too many main dishes and sides, desserts or coffees to suit, and probably a few beers or other drinks each for everyone at our table. Always polite, always makes you feel welcome. Ray has a great ability to remember all of his regular customers, and seems to remember so much.

Today was my first day at this amazing Indian restaurant, as soon as we walked in the staff and the manager gave us a very warm welcome. We ordered a main platter and some desserts. Honestly the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. I loved it! Definitely would recommend anyone to visit this Indian restaurant and in my opinion one of the best restaurants around in Aveley.

My son and I were looking for a 'halfway house' to meet for lunch and googled our way to Taste of Aveley, one of the few Indian restaurants in the area that opens at lunchtime. I think they were shocked to see customers during the daytime and the server was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a tee shirt. Anyway, seemed friendly enough. We ordered a Cobra and a coke, the latter obviously had a long and tiring journey to our table, as it was flat when we arrived. It was duly replaced with another, which was slightly less flat. We didn't have the heart to complain again. I had mixed kebab starter, which had obviously been warmed up, as it was very dry. Our mains were OK, meat still dry. Oh, I forgot to mention the poppadoms, which had scorch marks!! We ended our experience with a tea and a coffee. These were knocked off the bill as the jug of milk was lumpy and slightly yellow. Stomach churned at this point. I have somehow given a generous two stars, as I have noticed a good number of positive reviews and can only assume that they were caught unawares by having customers at lunchtime! The tracksuit wearing server was polite and seemed a good soul. I felt bad pointing out things he should have seen before serving. Sorry, folks of Aveley.

The best Indian food I've eaten. The portion sizes are great, prices reasonable and it tastes delicious. Always try to find a Taste of Aveley restaurant when I'm out and about. This restaurant is great, friendly staff, nice comfortable atmosphere and great service. Would highly recommended it!

I had an amazing dinner as a weekly catchup with a few friends and decided to visit this old gem again. Needless to say I had, yet again, another exceptional experience. I am on a little bit of a diet, so I decided to opt for some grilled food. It was absolutely delicious and the service was very fast. Overall, it was an impeccable experience and would recommend to anyone that would like to have some authentic Indian cuisine. The manager Ray and his two sons give the restaurant an instant homely feel.
