We eat Indian food once a week and now we have found bengal spice would not go anywhere else..The best Indian food we have tasted. Good portion size. Lovely flavours. Welcoming attentive staff. Good value for money. Recommend you pre book.

A small and very friendly restaurant. The service was attentive, though not pushy or intrusive. The food was usual Indian favourites and some excellent fish options. It was well cooked and hot, with good flavours. A good place to go for a quiet friendly meal.

I don't ever leave reviews. However, this was so bad I felt compelled to leave one. This is probably the worst Indian food I've ever had. I love the cuisine and am no stranger to what expect but what I got was awful. Tasteless biryani, and a Jalfrezi that has so much spice mix its like eating sand. It didn't even resemble a Jalfrezi. On top of that it was laced in colouring for some reason? No idea how this place has a 4.8 star rating based on what I've had. Avoid at all cost.

As always, it was a great pleasure to eat there. Food, service, and overall experience was great. See you again soon.

I have been to a lot of India restaurants but the compassion of spice and flavour this is by far the best. Plus the meal deal they offered is unbelievable value for money. Will definitely be coming back when I’m in town.

Hello I had my dinner in here absolutely lovely food and the thing that I liked the most is the customer service outstanding Rick is a gentleman from head to toe the way he talks to people and how polite he is definitely never seen someone like this and I eat out pretty often but anyway definitely coming back 😁

First of all these people are racist with Asians . They are running Bangladeshi restaurant pretending to be an Indian restaurant but they are not .Be careful my local mates . Have had worst experience from these misleading Bangladeshi restaurants on the name of Indian restaurants….. No authentic Indian restaurant would ask you popadom in starter but these restaurants do ask and they don’t make Indian dishes as they know local mates don’t know so putting spicy in every dish doesn’t make Indian curry .. In india no one knows these dishes as these are from out of proper authentic Indian menu . Please alert !

27/10/23: Hemel Hempstead Weekend: visiting friends John & Hazel for the weekend, myself Lynette & Bryan enjoyed a lovely meal. The waiter was very friendly and friends of John & Hazel. Our meal was fantastic and staff very helpful in selecting a different curry from our usual choice!

Food was stunning, however I did order cheese naan and received regular naan, but honestly food was too beautiful to care

Food is always good, the meal deal is a reasonable price and staff are always friendly. Car park just across the road and close to the town centre. They do take away pick up also and have a bar. Worth a visit.

Don’t be put off by the empty tables! We had some very tasty dishes and a couple of Cobras in here. They know their spices and flavours, wish we had found it sooner as we would have gone back.

We always get a take away and is always perfect so today we thought we’d eat in and it did not disappoint. The service is 10/10 food is amazing and is very good price.

Excellent food, we took our friends who had awful serive at the Saffron, the staff at bengal spice showed how real service should be, they we're welcoming, polite, attentive and friendly. A lovely quiet night with a friendly atmosphere. We will be back.

Wasn’t the best Indian I’ve had. Rice was pretty bland, same as the madras, hot but pretty tasteless and watery. Naan also bland and tasteless. Onion baji was okay. Probably wouldn’t order again.

Fantastic! I got a take away from here on Sunday and was delighted with my experience. When I got it home, the food was nice and hot, the chicken was so tender and the mushroom rice was perfectly cooked. I've been looking further afield as my recent experiences around Hemel have not been so good. I'm so pleased to have found a restaurant that is so close to home and with such delicious food. After placing my order, I was talking to the waiter (owner!) and he was saying that his dad has owned the restaurant for many years and was in the kitchen, cooking the food. The care that his dad takes in preparing the food was obvious when I got it home. The flavours were perfect, portions were generous and there was not the problem of over-use of oil which I have found at many other establishments. The importance of a business being family owned cannot be overstated. This place really values its' customers as a result of the family connection to the business and take great pride in what they provide. The Bengal Spice will be my regular take-away (or restaurant) and I can't wait to explore some of their more modern/unusual dishes as I'm confident that when they get the basics so perfect, it follows that they will take the same pride in their whole menu.

I would avoid this place waiters are really rude and no idea of customer service I hope mangment take notice and train staff

Fantastic food delivered promptly . All hot and extra requests granted . Highly recommend the chicken tikka rezala and chicken tikka tawa !

The best indian we've been to in Hemel Hempstead.

Come here 3/4 times a year with a big group and we always get the Banquet. Staff are so great and always accommodate any requests. They're always happy to give any information on dishes as well. Must recommend for a place to go as a family/friend group meal.

Amazing experience would order again. Food was outstanding as always. Based on estimated time for delivery 8.25 - 8.45 food arrived 20 minutes early so was really pleased.

Had a fantastic meal here with friends,service was prompt and very friendly,everything we had was good and all the dishes had a fresh taste sometimes lacking in Indian restaurants.The wines available were all good quality and very keenly priced and the complimentary liqueurs and hot towels were a nice surprise. Even the bill was less than anticipated,we will be back for sure.

Family curry while on holiday. Lovely food and some nice touches. Called in with 2 children aged 9 and 7. Ordered off the main menu. Food arrived quickly and service was fab. Nice little touches with a liqueur after dinner. Very clean and safe. Even provide hand towels post meal for a freshen up.

The food we did receive was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately two of our items didn't show up but this of course is probably no fault of restaurant - busy saturday nights and all! Ultimately we were satisfied with what was received and would love to return here again for our next indian😊

Me and my mate just had food here. We work all over the country, this is by far the best Indian food I've had the pleasure of eating. The beer was crisp the service was brilliant and the food was something else. As for the price, very reasonable, absolutely spectacular. Highly recommended the bengal spice. See you tomorrow guys

It was the worst food I've ever had I wouldn't give it two my dogs had two bin the lot .the manger was aposs two ring me but didn't so wont be going back

For 8.50 I want real chicken in my food, I don't know what that was I just chucked in my bin but it was gross!

We pre ordered as we knew it was going to be a busy night. We understand that 8pm was an estimated delivery time but the food was delivered nearly 2 hours late as it arrived just before 10pm. I was unable to contact the restaurant and then received a text to say the food would be delivered at 9.20pm. It was then over half an hour after this that we received our order. The food was lovely but too late to eat for us.

Been coming to Bengal Spice for many years, and every time it’s fantastic. Attended tonight after the lockdown and the food was as fresh and tasty as always and the service was very welcoming. They had put precautions into place due to the pandemic and we felt very safe eating here. All of the staff were wearing masks and tables were socially distanced. The food was fantastic and such good value as they still run their banquet night on a Friday. Food was freshly cooked and came out promptly. It tasted amazing and we’ll definitely be back soon. Best Indian in Hemel by a mile.
