First time ordering and NOT disappointed. Driver was friendly, smiling and on time. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Nothing swimming in oil, fresh produce, we tried the Chicken Pathia, Tarka Dhal and Matar Paneer, all delicious and would recommend giving this place a go. Will definitely order again.

Poppadoms were not that crispy and bhajis were only warm to touch. Not normally like this.

Popped in this evening. Food took about 20 mins. Service was 100% lovely man served me. Food was amazing. Best I have had in a long time. And gave me extra chutney 😋

food tasted okay but so incredibly oily I couldn't eat much at all. also my butter chicken was a korma with a tonne of butter melted into it... if I wanted a korma I would've ordered one, it was 50% oil/butter, 30% sauce and 20% chicken (had maybe 3 or 4 pieces in), very disappointed

Best curry about and friendly service.

Ordered many times from here but tonight my wife couldn’t eat her Biryani as the accompanying veg curry was too spicy. Biryani sauces are normally very mild.

Ordered for the first time today. Got the set meal for 2 plus a korma between 3 of us. It was all piping hot and delicious. Fantastic value for money and 15 minutes earlier than stated. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Curry was very late and very cold. I called up after 70 minutes and they said the driver was on his way. If he was he took my curry round to see the Christmas lights before he dropped it off as it took another 20 minutes. Wasn’t even that nice. One off the list

This is our go to Indian takeaway and really was the best meal yet. The vege side dishes tasted so authentic and not all in the same sauce as you get from other takeaways. Also the food is never terribly oily and is always piping hot and very tasty. We won't go anywhere else!

really nice food, nut portions a bit small

Same price with another indian shop but the quantity is more less, its a first time i i received only 4 king prawn in my order but the prawn size is similar with my order before with another place . And the taste is ready not the taste I imagined。its the first time and also the last time i order here. Bad experience.

King prawn madras only had 3 prawns which was disappointing, but the rest was good.

A low quality rating as at £1 a poppadom its pretty frustrating when you get sent 5 less than you ordered and ALL of the same dip! Lovely food but constantly short changed!!!

Just had delivery from here and ended up chucking most of it away. All 3 curry dishes had the same odd tangy off taste, the onions bhajees were dry and hard and broke into dust when cutting them. The roti and naan bread were dry and unpleasant. The sag aloo was quite nice. so for that reason I’m giving it one star

River Spice - spice by name, spice by nature! Great heat for those that enjoy spicy curries. River must come from the amount of liquid over protein. The chicken could’ve been farmed in Chernobyl. The prawn puri had been scorched by a Samsung micro oven - Uri Gellar would of been jealous of the bend left in the knife. I’d say either upgrade your microwave or chef.

Delivered on time and still hot. Chicken Shaslick was tasty, though not much of it. River Special had some chewy prawns and Lamb but the chicken was good and the sauce very spicy and tasty. Also had the Special Rice, which was OK but not special! A bit expensive for what it was.

The food arrived in time (possibly earlier than expected but I can’t remember how much earlier). Everything was cooked very well indeed and portions were very generous. The only thing I would point out is that the korma was spicy, nothing too hot but I wasn’t expecting that. Having said that the food tasted lovely

Food turned up on time and really hot. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the slow cooked Sri Lankan lamb and it was so good. My only issue was a £6 delivery charge, to come 10mins, was steep. I would order again but maybe if there were more people to make the delivery charge worthwhile.

Wow was so tasty! Best I’ve had in ages! Marked a star down as the chapati was really think and doughy so my husband couldn’t eat it. Rest was amazing! Son gave it 👌 as well. Great delivery time and friendly delivery driver. Highly recommend River Spice

Just ordered from here for the first time after a recommendation and reading the reviews. I must say I was super impressed and the food did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and piping hot, so no oil everywhere, or needing to reheat the food in the microwave, and the complimentary sauces for the popoadums was nice and thick, glad to see that it hadn't been watered down and my order was delivered in record time on a Saturday evening by the really polite driver. Well done!

I work all over the country and eat a lot of takeaway food. River spice is by far the best Indian food I have had. In the last 7 months I've worked at Hemel hemsted on 4 different occasions. The last twice i have ordered food from here and have not been disappointed. The food is full of flavour, cooked to perfection and is always fresh. If you wand a real good Indian this is your place to order from . Cant praise this food enough. Well done guys keep up the good work 👏 👍

From out of town and my partner has never had an Indian. We ordered from here and the food was amazing. Probably the best chicken korma I've ever had very pleased And I will definitely recommend!

First of all terrible customer service! The man, can't call him a gentleman, was so rude when we called to say we had received incorrect order. Argued with us when we told him what we had been given. Insisted that we ordered the wrong thing... impossible because we ordered on just eat and could see. On top of the poor service, it was the worse Indian in hemel! The pilau rice tasted like normal boiled yellow rice. My tikka masala was just sweet and over coconutty. Generally not nice. There is no a chance of me ever ordering from there every again.
