We have been going to the Shapla for years. Always serves delicious food to eat in and take away. Very friendly and efficient service.

Consistency is key. The Shapla in Attleborough serves the best Indian food my partner and I've eaten, consistently. Cooked by the owner so every interest in getting it right. Very friendly and personable staff. The portion sizes are no different to any other. Best in Attleborough by far. Keep it up

I have been going to The Shapla since it opened. It is still my favourite Indian restaurant. The food is delicious, staff are friendly and I love the new (ish) decor.

Had the whole chicken for two. Been there six times before. Changed the sauce with the dish. Then they wanted to stoke me up another £5. This is what you do if you don’t want people to come back. They will take advantage of you. But fantastic food. Nick

What an experience My brother and sister-in-law were over from Spain not been in the uk in four and a half year . Brother in law loves his Indian I am classed as a less abled person in a wheel chair. The Staff at Shapla were so attentive and helpful Excellent service . Food of high standard and tasty was there Friday evening . Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good laugh with the head waiter , lots of banter Will be there again on the 1st of August Elvis night

One of the best and most flavoursome curries I have ever had. (And I've eaten alot) We tried thier specialities and it was well worth it. The prawn and auberine was out of this world. The mutton curry with the cirtrus fruit was also brilliant.

Very friendly staff, nice setting and the food was good. I ordered a curry which was described as Hot on the menu but I found it rather mild but that is a personal taste thing, the flavour was good and portion size was also ample.

Had a fantastic meal out - the food, staff and service at this restaurant is amazing - a rarity to find these days!!

It took 55mins to get 3 pop adoms. No drinks or anyhing. Vote with your feet and close his place. Shame!!!

The meal was tasty. A shame the evening was spoilt by an hour's wait between starter and main course. When we questioned the delay it was a lame excuse trying to say ours was complicated. Nothing fancy, from the normal menu. How can that be complicated.

Absolutely delicious food. Greeted and seated whilst we placed our order, offered a drink from the bar. Food was definitely worth the wait. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very conscious of dietary requirements which is great to see. Would highly recommend 👌

My family and I have been eating at the Shapla for over thirty years, we go back most weeks and eat either in the restaurant or we get a take away, it is without any doubt in my mind one of the very best Tandoori restaurant take aways in the East of England, my wife is from Birmingham and knows her currys, she gives them ten from ten. I have no affiliation to Shapla other than we like the food and the service, Imran and his crew always deliver good food and a great cost 100% recommend

I visited on 24 July and found that the curry was extremely disappointing. I ordered a Take Away curry and received a dye coloured red sticky water that had about as much flavour as a bottle of Evian mineral water. It simply tasted of nothing at all ! If you enjoy water with red dye inside that is absolutely empty / neutral in flavour, then this is a great curry house. To top matters off, sly staff charge a few more pounds than the amount listed on their menu board ( despite a take -away supposedly being the other way around ) though while this is not really an issue, it does say a lot about the operators here. A cost cutting greedy establishment that provide a very low quality food. You have been warned !

Heard great things about this restaurant, so wanted to try, Atmosphere was dire , server was polite but quiet . Food tasted nice but meat very dry , like frozen before being cooked . Not exciting and not really Interested in going back .

Excellent food and excellent service as usual! I had the Chicken Dansak as it is something I have not had it before and thoroughly enjoyed the spice and texture of the chicken.

We visited to try out local Indian restaurants as we have moved to the area. What an awful meal we had, the curry dishes had nothing but sauce and the chicken, no vegetables of any kind. The nan bread was small and very thick And to top it all they charged us £9.20 for 2 glasses of Diet Coke! Will not be going back

Extremely happy with Shapla and their fabulous staff. We were a big group and they accompanied us and our requirements happily. Absolutely wonderful, I enjoy this place so much. Made to feel very welcome, and my 3 Yr old granddaughter was made welcome, we will certainly be going back.

I decided to pop in after seeing all of the supposedly good reviews on here and was left concluding that they could not be genuine. After buying a chicken curry take away for collection over the phone I was told to " go and sit over there !" by the female waitress. Hearing this I felt like a naughty schoolboy being told off by my school teacher nearly 45 years ago again ! I did though turn a blind eye to this. My curry dish was about as spicy as a bottle of evian mineral water and didn't taste of anything. At £10.60 for the curry alone i was very disappointed ( rather sinister was that the menu states the same dish as being £7.80 ! ) Dissapointing.

This is one of the very few occasions that I post a review; I ordered a takeaway, the restaurant wasn’t busy when I arrived but a good number of people came in while I was waiting. Waiting being the word-after being told to collect in an hour, I had to wait another 40 min, while other people who came in after me had their order. Now, I can accept that things go wrong, but I hate being repeatedly lied to, they forgot my order, and didn’t slip it into the schedule for another half an hour! The young waiter repeatedly told me five mins after I’d been there twenty minutes. Then to compound the situation they use old fashioned foil trays and then don’t fit the lids correctly, cramming the containers into the bag. The order was wrong when we opened it! The food was chewy chicken in a basic sauce with chilli powder added. Rubbery popadoms with very poor pickles, strangely accompanied by nearly a huge bag of onions. Onion Bhaji’s were biscuit flat and tasteless. The place is busy but it’s a small town and they’ve enjoyed a good reputation for many years, but eat in, don’t risk the takeaway. Luckily my colleague rang after 25 mins and decided to reorder from the other Indian- lesson learned!

We hadn't booked a table, we drove 15 miles to get to this very clean, friendly family restaurant, and we walked in and said do you have a table for 2 please? Yep hang on ill sort you one, ( lucky for us as it was a sat eve) this was our 2nd time of visiting here, last time we had our whole family including a 3yr old and we were all cattered for, this is the best little find we've found, the price was affordable, £60 for the 2 of us , 2 course and drinks fantastic price. If you get a chance, book and try it out for yourself, wonderful, in fact just writing this has made my mouth water, could eat one right now.

We've been here three times over the last couple of months. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is friendly too. They were very accommodating when we went with my two small nieces, and made sure that we all had a good time. Prices are reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Me and the family went here this evening. Everything was great. Poppadums we’re fresh and crisp, the condiment tray came with a really nice coconut thing that I haven’t seen in other Indians. I had the shahi chicken which everyone at the table agreed was amazing. Combined with the fresh crisp naan bread, I would crown this as the best curry I’ve ever had. My sister had the king prawn shaslik which I tried and would order myself. Restaurant manager was really friendly and remembered my parents from last time too which was nice. I can see why this place is so popular!

Great food good value for money

Being new to the area I have been sampling the local restaurants to see which ones are for me. I tried other similar restaurants in town and they didn't hit the spot. I then stumbled upon this delightful venue and was won over immediately! The ambiance and staff were wonderful and faultless . The food is by far the best I have ever eaten , and I've had a lot of curries but this place is simply the best. In fact, I think Tina Turners song was inspired by this place ! I've been here many times now and had take away and is consistently great. Can't wait to return!

Went to the Shapla for the first time with family and a friend who recommended the restaurant. We all had a lovely meal and the staff were excellent and very accommodating. Hope to go back soon.

Takeout is always excellent and we had an awesome meal in the restaurant on a busy Friday night. Felt sorry for the 1 waiter they had on as he was absolutely ran off his feet but would highly recommend regardless.

I travel extensively for work and love a good Tandoori Meal. The Shapla is my favourite, great menu, service and food. I'm pleased it's my local.

Every time I get food from here it is always delicious and so full of flavours. I'd never really had a proper Indian and this was my first one. I thoroughly enjoyed 👍🏼

Brilliant Indian take away, The food from this place is heart warming. The staff were friendly and fast and to be honest we were surprised it was cheaper than thought. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for food in Attleborough.

22nd of this month we bought a takeaway for all my family including my young kids got home it was horrendous all the main dishes looked and tasted all the same everyone of us had chicken and about 4 hours later my kids were sick and shaken and had severe stomach cramps and very bad number 2sthen me and my partner was I'll allnight aswell I called the restaurant the next day ,the manager was very rude not bothered said we can have 1 free main next time please stay away from this restaurant other people have had the same experience I've found out after very bad food and rude customer service

We eat here and get takeaway food regularly. We love it. Reliable quality and very friendly staff. Whenever there's a wait for take away food we get offered a free drink.

THIS REVIEW REFERS TO TAKE AWAY DISHES ONLY This place does suprisingly good take away curry but is let down by using mini sized tin foil ' side dish containers ' which are half of the size of full size take away foil containers industry standard. When I rang up to ask why this was, the manager said " I could have always bought two of the small side dish foil containers to make up the one normal take away meal container " at obviously twice the price. This begs the question as to why these are being advertised as " Take Away Meals " when they are not ( they are side portions). The idea of buying two of the same curry dishe side portions to make up the one normal sized take away is not only silly but outright deceptive and the fact that this restaurant chooses not be straight with people is why I only give it 2 stars. A daft case of being unecessarily stingy in a very audacious way.

This is a very unusual review and somewhat contradictory though I feel compelled to explain it. Unusual in a negative sense that is.I rang to a range a collection of a chicken korma only to be told that they were award winning chefs and had been in the business for years. Ironically, I would not dispute this and the problem lies therelse. I was handed a brown paper bag with a couple of menus and other restaurant literature which also contained my main korma dish ( or so I thought). Sitting in my specially adapted vehicle for the morbidly obese, I thought that there was some mistake as I noticed a tiny box with a lid on. Inside felt like the equivalent in weight as a " box of smarties " and I immediately opened the lid to find no more than a ' very small cup ' of what was tasty korma. I also counted three pieces of thinly sliced chicken. As I bring my own spoon out I recorded six large table spoons of the korma itself, three two pence piece size of potatoe and a load of junk literature.While the dish was of high quality is was simply not worth buying as it virtually did not exist. Two digestive biscuits would have done a better job of filling any person up and the disapointment lies therein. For a restaurant to make good food and then do a U turn and then sell a snack disguised as a main meal that was about as filling as a packet of Walkers crisps is outright dishonesty and I will certainly not be going back here again. For this to have been a genuine take away meal 5 or 6 of these would have to have been bought (at £11.50 a dish) to match a regular take away container which would have brought the price up to between £50 and £60 for a single take away dish meaning that this restaurant on take away dishes, is extremely poor value for money.A great place if you have the appetite of an extra large ant and are at the same time on a diet! Would I go here again ? Thanks but no thanks.

When I rang to ask why I was given a side dish instead of a main dish the manager said " that I could have bought two side dishes to have made up the regular take away foil container dish if I had wanted " at obviously twice the price. . This begs the question as to why this restaurant is selling side dishes as " main meals " and is extremely audacious and brazen. The idea of somebody buying " multiple of the same side dishes to make up what is initially listed as a main meal " is not only silly but very deceptive which is why I only give this otherwise good place 1 star.A shame as honesty costs nothing.

The Shapla is absolutely incredible and consistently produces beautiful, tasty food. The service is attentive and welcoming which is why it has been my favourite restaurant for decades.

Loved the takeaway and was very impressed. Finally, a takeaway that wants to serve good, well-prepared and fresh food. I think price was very good too. Best one for miles as far as I am concerned. If I could, I would have easily added another star to the rating.

Recommend by friends. So I decided to drive up there to find out the hype about this place and boy was I impressed, food was spot on and service was great. Must try.

Was given a miniature take away curry which was in a container that would not have held three boiled eggs! This was deceptive as the curry dish was advertised as a main meal NOT a side dish and lack of honesty here means that this restaurant get 1 point from me. When I mentioned the fact that I had ordered a main dish and not a side dish, the manager brazenly said " that I could buy two of the side dishes if I wanted.... " to make up a main dish despite that I had never ordered a side dish to begin with! My jaw dropped in astonishment! It was rather silly as it is not like the purchaser is not going to realise this when he takes his or her Take Away dish out of the bag and I would stress to this restaurant that it needs to deal truthfully with it's customers. If you are going to serve main meal curry dishes in tiny ' side dishes ' then these should be LISTED as ' micro side curry dishes ' and NOT main meals on the menu and is incidentally, a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act (i.e false advertising). My advice would be to eat in and not order a Take Away dish in order to avoid this particular scam ! A lack of integrity and deception is what let's this place down rather than perhaps unusually, the quality of the food served here.

Hands down this is the best. Well balance of spices and each dish is made to perfection. I have used the others in our town only because I could not be bothered to drive to the Shapla and then regretted it. Quality for a few...

If I could give a “zero” I would. The service was beyond shocking and rude. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. When we asked “how long our food would be” the rude waiter said “it’s busy”. When I pointed out another couple who’d arrived 20 minutes after us was already eating he said “what do you want me to do about it?!” So we paid for our drinks and left. But not before complaining at the bar - from my understanding it’s not the first time this chap has been “cheeky” to the customers.

The food was delicious, but the head waiter (& I was informed owner, but I didn't confirm this) was very rude & made us feel unwelcome. We were polite despite the attitude throughout, not getting menus, being rushed along, & no-one coming to take payment, then being told 'I kept checking but no-one put a card there ready for payment, I couldn't just ask for payment' in a rude tone. The restaurant was also really hot. Our other waiter was really lovely, super at his job & very friendly. Like I say delicious food but on our visit the head waiter treated us like we were an inconvenience, despite us going in with a positive attitude to trying this restaurant out for the first time.

Reasonable food let down by cheeky staff and 'micro take away main meal portions'' On entering and paying I was told to 'go and sit over there' while waiting for my £7.90 curry¥ take away). 15 minutes later, I was given a curry that was in a side dish package that was designed to be holding side dishes such as chutney/onions etc.. the entire portion of curry could have fitted into the palm of your hand if emptied into it and all the while being served as 'main meals' on the public menu system. I had counted just over 7 full tablespoons of this 'take away portion' and four small pieces of meat while back home and while reasonae tasty, this was no excuse for lying to customers prior to orders being made.. Side dish packages are of course designed for side dishes while main meal dishes for main meals! I reported this to trading standards as false advertising who are investigating why this is taking place.

Went in November 2019. We were second in for a sit down meal. Only one other table was occupied. Had some popadoms and ordered mains. Then crowds came and went collecting takeaways. And they just kept coming. All got served quickly. And still we waited. A table of 4 lads left after an hour or so as they hadn't got any food. We had to ask when our food was coming after an hour. We were on the verge of leaving when it arrived. Chicken Dansak x 2. Leather Dansak more like. Tough is not the word. We also had Take Dahl which was like a bowl of water. Overall really rubbish. We won't be going back ever. Decor in the restaurant is like Del Boy's flat. Pretty old fashioned

This is our local curry house and always our first choice, staff are extremely friendly. Food is top notch and hot. Restaurant is clean even if the decor is a little dated. Recommend!
