My favourite curry house in Bedford.

Had a delicious home delivered meal last night and although I have had meals from most of the curry restaurants in Bedford, T&T are consistent in their quality and it’s just as good as a sit-down meal which we do often. The Frankie’s are especially good but I really fancied a good hot Jalfrezi which was above my expectations. Lots of delicious tender tikka chicken and a vegetable rich gravy which went lovely with the mushroom rice. My partner had a Korma and pilau rice which she loved too. I ordered a small portion of lamb chops as a starter which were full of herbs, beautifully cooked and still slightly pink. The chefs there certainly respect their food and we will order again soon.

Arrived 90 minutes after placing order. Samosas tiny balls filled with potato, onion bhajis burnt, hard and flat with hardly any onion, soggy pakora. Popadoms missing from order. This place used to be so good, but the last few orders have been awful so I’m giving up.

Not much of high quality but ok

Very fresh food. Large cauliflour was quite small and I wouldnt recommend the prawn kedgeree as it had few prawns and very blanfd. But overall very nice.

Lovely little gem we just found . Was a flying visit today but all the vegetarian options we had tasted very nice . The okra fries were my fav. The spicy chutney with the popadoms was also amazing. Will definitely be back for some chilling vegetarian food.

Not had takeaway from Thali and Tandoor previously. This was probably the best Jalfrezi I have eaten, along with the Ramadhan Chana. Superb!

Restaurant-quality Indian cuisine. Bengali fish curry was delicious. Interesting menu, unlike many in town. Will be back!

Delicious takeaway on bank holiday weekend. We had several grand thalis and some katti rolls including a range of vegan items which were splendid.

I had an incredible dining experience at Thali & Tandoori Indian Restaurant in Bedford. The flavors of the Mother Chicken Butter, Lamb Chops, and Dry Meat were simply outstanding, delighting my taste buds with every bite. Cocktails weee really nice too. The attentive and friendly waitstaff added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and the delectable dishes. Thali & Tandoori is definitely a gem that I would recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable Indian dining experience.

Delicious, hot and ready super quickly, lovely customer service. Best 'kebab' we've had in a long time Don't risk being disappointed get from somewhere else when you can enjoy an authentic street food style one.

Delicious fresh food ( vegetarian) , lovely atmosphere and very friendly and considerate staff. Centrally placed near the beautiful river Ouse. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Really tasty! Chicken pakora was quite salty but really enjoyed the meal overall. Wish the portions were a bit bigger!

Really enjoyed the food here - we had the pau bhaji and the grand thali and would recommend both. Will definitely be returning. I had read reviews about poor service but I couldn’t fault it at all. Everyone was polite, friendly, and welcoming.

Delicious Indian food in Bedford

Moving to Bedford from London we were delighted to find this restaurant after being disappointed with many other Indian restaurants in town. The food is excellent, drinks menu is fab and the cocktails really nice, we have brought friends and family here many times. The service has always been great, staff are always friendly, attentive and polite. I've seen some reviews complaining that their meals took 30 minutes to arrive....that's because they are actually cooking them, not microwaving them like other places! You should be worried if your complex dish arrives in ten minutes!! I've always found the food to arrive in good time even when really busy. Decor and ambiance really thought out. Can't recommend this restaurant enough :)

Nestled in castle quarter we have taken friends and family and had many take aways from T&T. Great service, great flavour and variety. Thought through restaurant design. Would always recommend and be our choice for indian food in Bedford!

I called them in for a drink and they asked me not to come of its just for a drink, looks like they are after money and don't really care about customer service. Isn't it strange that they are into food business but don't really care about hospitality.

Food is not that good but nice place

We are big fans of Indian style food and curry in general. And when the four of eat out together we like to look for something a little different. Over the last couple of years we have tended to head to Leicester. But yesterday, following a 'Thali Google search' I found Thali & Tandoori in Bedford. It proved a great choice. I booked and pre-ordered the feast option. And, yes, it was a feast and agreed by all to be an excellent choice. I had not told the other three where we going so it was a mystery trip. Everyone loved the food and agreed that not having to order was a real bonus. The mixed starter was a wonderful start with great variety and flavour. For me the samosas were the highlight, but all of us had a different highlights. The main was far more than we expected and made a perfect Sunday (roast) lunch. A whole chicken, a beautiful biryani with roasted broccoli plus an assortment of curries including potatoes and dahl. For me, and again we all had a different favourite here, the lamb curry, one of the four with the main, was stunning. The meat was soft and melted in the mouth and the sauce was divine. Thanks to all the staff for making this a very special Sunday occasion.

The food and the service with the waitress was very good But we had a very awkward situation with the manager We went with our dog, who is an assistance animal... If in the venue don't make any problem with animals we don't feel in need to show any certification. So we entered the place an the staff in a very friendly way help us to find a place for us and the dog (he didn't say in any time that dog weren't allowed there) but after we ordered our food the manager notice we where with the little one and came in a very rude mode asking if this is a guide dog, because only guide dogs are allowed, I show the registered card of my pet and after seeing it for a few seconds he left it on the table without saying anything to us and start to screaming to the kitchen and other staff in their Language, the only word we could understand was that he was repeating several times "guide dogs" It was awkward and rude, it make me feel uncomfortable and assistance emotional pets are for hidden disabilities (as it saids the card what is) so i couldn't have my lunch in a good way because a start to feel anxious, we take out our food and I have lunch on my hotel room... We where the only table in all the restaurant, we though we could have a calm lunch, if the venue have a problem with animals you could let us know from the beginning in a good mood, is was no need of rude attitudes for that.

Thali and Tandoor India food is above and beyond the competition. There's no sense that they use industrially produced sauces like others. Its just better.

Food was extremely good. One portion size is suitable for one person. Only thing was quantity of rice was less compared to dal.

Had stumbled on this while visiting the museum across the road. Decided to come back another time and very glad we did. Interesting menu, and it was all very good. Probably ordered too much, but there were a lot of great choices. Slow cooked meat dishes are highly recommended. Will be back, sadly there aren't many restaurants offering options beyond the standard vast curry menu that you can find everywhere.

We had ordered a grand thali and it was just mindblowing. There were so many options to eat and it was really delicious. With two people too, we weren't able to finish it. You can imagine the portions. I would recommend to add new desserts/sweet items in the thali as I feel its quite restrictive to one item. But overall food and service is good. P.S: Keep an empty stomach to cherish the Thali.

Thing about this place the food is consistently good wether you order a takeaway or eat there. The portions are generous and the taste is unique to other Indian restaurants

Can't get enough of their lovely food

My extended family and I enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch here. We had the feasting menu (which is excellent value for money) and some thalis. The service is really friendly and polite.

The food was good however, the whole experience was let down by the lack of service and rude staff.

Fantastic food. Seriously some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Extremely chaotic and rude staff. Very disappointed. Would not recommend. Update 29.01.23 - The staff have since created multiple fake reviews, rating themselves 5 stars to attempt to mislead people, if you’re unwilling to accept feedback then be honest about that, multiple reports have now been filed. Disgusting.

The food at Thali and Tandoor is always consistently excellent. The service is prompt and courteous and we always look forward to returning. We have probably dined here over 120 times in 10 years.

Today we booked for a party of 5! Never 4 as they have falsely 'claimed'. Myself & my husband have dined at this restaurant many times before in which both the food & service has been exceptional. We travelled specifically with friends on this basis all the way from CAMBRIDGESHIRE. You don't make that kind of trip if you don't have praises to sing about Thali&Tandoor. However today has left a sour note. Upon arriving, they seemingly had no note of our booking. Even to claim that we were a table of 4 would imply there was a table of 4 set, which there was not. We were left standing in the walk way, whilst it took 10mins to set up our table! Which meant seating 3 people along the back row instead of 2. Now if there was a table of 4 set, why would the addition of 1 more placement equal such a long wait. To lie is acutally shocking; we all make mistakes, it happens in every buisness however you apologise & move on. Our order for food was taken 1 hour after arrival. It is to be noted we did have a positive prompt order taken of our poppadoms & drinks, but the fact we had to ask for our food order to be taken, to then be left even longer before the waitor came back was unacceptable. The service was cold and rushed. There was no communication beyond the basic necessity of food service. No 'I'm really sorry I will be with you in a few minutes'. No 'would you like any more drinks', no check back on our food. The chefs! Fantastic! The food was beautifully made as it always has been. As a vegetarian, having the large diversity in options is the reason we come back over & over again to Thali and Tandoor (even with the unbelievably tatty menus). However, being full, I was not able to start my side dish of Massala Fries (v). So I prepped one single plate of my fries & left over Chole Aloo Frankie (v) together. Upon clearing our plates my husband asked the waiter if we could have this wrapped to take away. Our friend asked to have his plated meal wrapped to take away as well. My husband specifically told the waitor these were to be separate due to the meat in my friends food. Well the food arrived back all together! My husband popped up to the bar to let them know they had mixed everything together & that I am a vegetarian & won't be able to eat from the contaminated mix. Not including the fact our friend does not live with us, so 2 plates mixed into one is highly impractical!. We weren't even sitting together! When I can only assume a supervisor/team leader approached our table to discuss the matter, I was met with aggression over 'what exactly was wrong' and was asked whether it was the Lamb dish?!! Excuse me! VEGETARIAN, this is not difficult. I specifically explained it was an entire portion of Massala Fries(v) & a portion of my Chole Aloo Frankie(v). He seemingly understood this and stormed off. I wasn't left with any explanation as to what was going on. We assumed from the time once again left, that the food was being remade. I would like to repeat that at no point I or my friends have asked for anything off the bill. And we retained this throughout our full payment of the bill. We did however choose to ask for the 'discretionary' service charge to be removed as we were not happy with the service! And rightly so! The 'supervisor' did not take this opportunity to speak with us, discuss what had happened, but instead to aggressively remove items from our table whilst giving us the most disgusted looks. As a female, I felt incredibly intimated by the body language and incredibly uncomfortable with the way he spoke to me. I acutally wanted to shy away & wish I hadn't said anything! Being a vegetarian can bring alot of anxiety on its own, but in this day and age with dietary requirements being ever more diverse, this should not be a thing of 2023! We were flung a bag of food, I didn't check the contents assuming everything was correct. Only to arrive home now back to Cambridgeshire to find NO MASSALA FRIES! What an absolute joke! Yes I did receive odd pieces from my main dish but this is just awful. Incredibly upset.

Not one staff member asked if we were ok. The food was ok but it took 30 mins to take our order and the food took a while to come. Then we asked to have some food boxed up to take home and the mixed a vegetarians food in with a meat dish. If we hadn’t of checked we wouldn’t have known. Got the bill and asked to have service charge taken off and the waiter started to aggressively clear our table and give us dirty looks while we were finishing our drinks still.

Ok food (at the time) & nice atmosphere, unfortunately both me & partner became unwell starting the next day after eating here and ordering a thali dish which we shared. Won’t be going back based on that!

Very nice menu and good service. We enjoyed a tali board on recommendation of the waiter. Very nice setting too.

Friendly staff and fantastic food as always!

Excellent food only issue was we received a small aubergine and bean rather than the large we laid for. Was really great food.

Vegan menu choices are absolutely brilliant, and the food is always super fresh and so tasty. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Note for anyone with a baby; they have highchairs but no baby change. We had to undertake an on-the-lap poo change in the accessible toilet.

Two hours for a delivery in my opinion is too long!

Delicious food as always, this is one of my favourite spots in the area. Recommend the dry meat curry and the butter chicken - so delicious!

Great food, was delivered warm and fresh. Delivery said 35-50 mins in app and upon ordering was actually 60-90 mins.

This is undoubtedly one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to anywhere in the world. The menu was far more interesting than typical curry house fare; and even if some of the dishes didn’t have the most appealing names (“Dry Meat” being the standout example) they were universally delicious. We will be back.

Previously have had a good experience, this visit not so good. The pakoras were undercooked, when it was pointed out to the waiter he did not make an attempt to apologise or replace them he disappeared and didn't return. The main course was cold, the curries dry and the naan bread overcooked and hard. Would definitely not recommend. Poor service and poor food.

The food here is generally incredible. This time it was a little oily. The one thing that's ALWAYS an issue is delivery time - is always so much longer than what's stated.

Brilliant food. Only thing that let it down for me personally was the slow service. Apart from that good atmosphere and excellent food

Chicken was lovely but salad that came with it looked as if it was days old, very limp and brown not pleasant to eat.

Food wasn’t great. Restaurant owner had an altercation with a delivery driver and started shouting P*** to him. He then later proceeded to glorify his actions to another customer stating P*** again. Absolutely terrible service and I am highly offended by the racist mannerism of this restaurant as I am from Pakistani descent. I will not be dining here again. There are similar and better restaurants nearby. I would avoid this restaurant due to the unpleasant racist atmosphere.

Never confirmed online reservation. Didn't answer when tried calling. Waiter was pleasant throughout. Wanted to order Sunday feast menu but told should have been order in advance. Nothing in advert to say so. Got charged for the poppadoms and chutney plus a service charge.

I've worked in India and enjoyed the delights of Thali there (Maharashtra style - each area tends to have its own). To my taste, Thali and Tandoor bring the "real thing" with the kind of freshness and quality that leaves you feeling great after eating. Charming, attentive staff. Perfect just-off-the high street location. Highly recommended.

Simply best i dian food in town

Not sure what I ordered, was what I received, wasnt a Tikka Massala. Little chicken. Could have been warmer. Wrong rice. Under cooked some parts in the Katti Roll box.

Usually the food is amazing, not so on our last treat here. The food was delivered almost cold, despite paying for a rice dish it wasn’t even included. The parathas were extremely greasy and undercooked, so along with no rice not a very filling meal. And the lamb curry which was a main had THREE pieces of lamb in it. Tried ringing immediately on discovering the rice was absent, only to be ignored. Tried calling on subsequent days, again, no answer. Extremely dissatisfied for the money paid. The rest of rest of the food was delicious but we had no choice but to split it and have very small portions due to the lack of care preparing and packing our food.

First time use - after tiring of our previous Indian eat at home meals - first impression is thatThali & Tandor is the best yet - will use again next weekend.

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. the food was outstanding as it was something we have not had before and it's not your typical indian restaurant , just look at the menu. A service charge is added to the bill but...

Reasonable food. Service a bit slow.

We visited asa group of four and found the service we received appalling particularly as the restaurant was half empty. The staff were disinterested in taking an order with us having to remind them we had ordered further drinks. The food was fairly good however...

Unusually presented dishes, authentic Indian food. Loved the big windows all round giving a light atmosphere.

The food was good, however my only moan is I ordered King prawns with salad and there wasn't any salad. The spicy keema noodles was tasty but I was expecting a full container, it wasn't...more like half full so very deceiving portion

Late. Food was ice cold and had to get them to swap a curry that was just pure grease. They offered to swap the whole order but we needed to eat something. We tried one more time after this and have given up. They have lost pur business.

This is the second time we have tried to give the restaurant a chance. The food is always ice cold and some of the curries are just grease (no sauce). It's not nice. We give up now.

Great food, loved the vegan choices too. All really tasty, especially loved the aubergine dish. The restaurant were very accommodating with getting our meal to us on time - they went the extra mile when it was needed.

The employees very really rude and the food was not upto the mark while comparing it with the price. Though it was an indian restaurant the waiters were discourteous at indians than British customers. This behaviour will not make us come another time.
