Too inconsistent, quality of food at times is poor? Having to add extra charges to obtain order is a joke! This place has gone downhill this year, and won’t be ordering again, quality matters.

Ordered our takeaway online with no problems, we collected the food which was ready on time and we were not disappointed when we sat down to eat...our Curries were probably the best we have had in a very long time, looks like we have found our new favourite Indian takeaway 👍

I don't normally write reviews but I’ve got to say this, the whole concept work on so many levels. , very authentic and tastes delicious Amazing food, the flavours were the best fresh ingredients are used and you can tell a lot of pride and passion has gone into each dish Pretty impressed I'd recommend THE RAJ at Maldon to anyone to try, you will not be disappointed or hungry!!! One of the curry and all sort of Indian food I’ve ever tasted . My whole family and I love their food and we’ve been a customers for many years as well as most of my mate . Just to mention that all food are cooked freshly by a decent respectful family as they do cook from heart. You feel like you eat at home and what a great amazing customer service if I could give more that five stars trust me I would . Thank you to THE RAJ AT MALDON & everyone at this lovely restaurant specially to the MUM AND DAD for the best food I've had in a long, long time! Function Room on the 26 th October 2024,was lovely...BUT...The Bar Staff were incompetent! No choices of alcohol at the bar,NO Toilet Roll In The Ladies ,water all over the floor ,in there ,toilets not checked all evening! And Hand Soap watered down too!!???

We had a great breakfast amazing food and staff was good.am a YouTuber called Khana with noori. Our food came very quickly everything was very tasty only nihari needs more spice. And please add more milk verity lots people have problem with normal milk so you need to have soya oats coconut and almond milk please. On the front desk lady called Maria was amazing very friendly and helpful.😊

Who ever giv this place it's rating, is a liar, I won't rate this food at all. King prawn curry, king prawn jalfrazy and chefs special, how all 3 meal come out the same colour, the prawns, I would of fed the dog with them, chicken was small boiled, we got pictures of the food.we rang for our money back, In fairness they did, we traveled to Seaton tandoori, ordered the same food, totally different colours prawn and chicken where spot on, avoid the shalimar in billingham.

Booked on line on Thursday for Sat 18.30. Arrived approx 18.15 , place all shut, not the only person waiting. Met three other party's also booked. No notes on door nothing. Obviously don't care about customers. Won't ever book again , 2nd time it's happened

Visited the restaurant yesterday for the first time and I was very impressed with high standards of food and customer service. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, food full of flavour and staff very attentive. Thank you all for an amazing experience and see you soon again❤️

Ordered a takeaway from there yesterday and after a few pieces that tasted a bit too tender I saw how undercooked the meat was!! Almost raw!! Will never be ordering or going again.

UPDATE NOV 2024: The curries are delicious again - lots of flavour. The rice isn't as good as it used to be (less vegetables in the vegetable pilau rice) but overall very good (5/5) UPDATE NOV 2023: No longer as good as it was. Cost cutting must have reduced the quality of the food. Now a bit bland and doesn't taste as fresh (3/5) ORIGINAL REVIEW Oct 2022: I've tried most Indian take aways in the Heaton area and this one is the best (5/5)

Very good Food and really nice people. Not overpriced at all. Will definitely be back.
