Excellent food and atmosphere again can't rate this place enough. Special mention to Krish who served and looked after us.

When you find out your old pub regulars open a chain of restaurants, it would be rude not to pop in. So glad we did!! Food... best curry I've eaten for a good while. Service from the kitchen outstanding! Bar staff...do better! Instead of chatting to your mate...wipe a table!! And they do cheesecake...probably everyone's not as excited about this as me. BANGIN CHEESECAKE!! 5 STARS FOR THE COTTAGE... I'll let you know on The Tavern soon!

Went to 16th birthday had a lovely time food was great but couldn’t get deposit back caurse they had to clean the room so lost £100 deposit will not be eating there again

Food is next level service 2nd to none. They have menu for vegetarian and vegan with loads of options as a vegan this is a dream come true. Definitely be going back.

The food was incredible and reasonably priced. Been to many bar and grills in the area but this is probably the best. Sehej was a great member if staff made you feel very welcome.

I've been here multiple times but unfortunately the place, service and food is not to a high standard as it used to be. This is part of the Soho food chain but seems the chef has changed or this place thinks it doesn't need to keep up with the same quality that I have experienced in the past. The service was very disorganised. Whats the point of serving hot plates for them to go cold by the time the food had arrived? Food was being served at different times which meant parts had gone cold by the time the whole order had arrived. The mixed grill was not its usual in taste or hot and sizzling on the platter. It was warm by the time it arrived. The quality of the food has gone down as it tasted very powdery with hardly any taste of fresh ingredients. The prawn curry sauce didn't taste like it had fresh ingredients but more like powdered flavours and chilli powder used. The only thing that was hot when it arrived was the fries. Left disappointed and unlikely to eat here again.

This place is awesome...the food is awesome...Amo is awesome...Karen is awesome....the whole place is fantastic...we have been here many times and will continue to come here. We love the place xxxx

Absolutely terrible food. Food so cold seems like cooked the day before. I have never eaten such a horrible paneer tikka. No flavours and Cold food.

This place has gone so down hill with the terrible customer service. Its not same. Will not be ordering again. Can see from the most recent views too that its the case for many more. Being told your lying as a customer. Unprofessional.

Reluctantly tried this place again after they served one meal with RAW chicken around a month ago. Ordered a home delivery which took an hour and a half. When it arrived food was poor quality and was missing 4 items off the order. Called back to let them know and dealt with the most RUDEST staff who firstly said they would drop the food off within the next half hour. After 3 phone calls later and 2 hours since the first part of the order was delivered we are still waiting. Just called again and was accused of lying and said they will have to see what they can do. Avoid at all costs

had a home delivery and was missing part of the order when we contact them to let them know we were given the run round passed on from one person to another was acused of laying by the staff , very poor service would not recommend them ,will never use them again

DISAPPOINTING customer service with delivery. Missed 2 items off my order of naan when delivered. Informed the driver who had dropped items immediately at the door. Stated would bring the naan in about 20mins. Waited for 45 mins which I then gave a call. Was told that would find out what had happened with driver and give a call back. They never had any decency to return a phone call as stated. I then rang again 50 mins later to then be told ‘oh there was naan in the package’. Apparently the driver said there was and the person who packed it also said. Absolutely appalling customer service. To be told next time to look in a bag properly. Also suggesting I do a collection next time to check. Not very helpful during Covid-19. Will not be making any orders in future.

Not sure where to start with this place. Must say we went during the eat out to help our scheme, so take that in mind when reading this review. Were told an hour wait on arrival, only waited 20 minutes. Ordered the food and was told 90 minutes until it’d be served, however it came in another 20-30 minutes. Table wasn’t as clean as you’d expect given that we are in a pandemic. The toilets are appalling, don’t drink too much and just hold it in. The concept of social distancing or hand sanitising is non existent. HOWEVER, the food is outstanding. Tremendous value and portion sizes. The taste was elite level. We were absolutely stuffed and couldn’t even finish everything. If you can look past everything other than the food, then this is the place for you. If you want the entire experience, go elsewhere. If there was a 3.5 star rating, that’s what I’d give this place.

We were told no booking only walk ins so we walk in. Straight away we were told 40 minute wait and to leave name and number and they will call us when a table is ready. We waited 1 hour in a nearby pub to which we gave up and went somewhere else and we are glad we did. They never did call.......our faces must not have.

I went to the cottage for a mixed grill and a curry first one since lockdown, the place has gone downhill tables were dirty and with leftover food and plates etc which hadn’t been cleared. Bar man was serving food, cleaning tables and serving drinks at the same time cross contaminating.when our food came it was obvious it was not fresh nowhere near the standard it used to bethe keema was absolutely disgusting and could not taste any lamb mince in it, it was pure soya.The mixed grill tasted like re heated left over meat.

Unbeknown to us, we had picked a day to come whilst the football was on so it was really busy - nowhere to sit had to wait 20-25 minutes to be seated. But once we were seated and had our food there was nothing to complain about. Food and drinks and both reasonably priced. I had the chicken wings and chips, friend has mixed grill and other friend had a curry. All said how tasty and filling it was. I would definitely go back.

Best Indian grill I've ever tried. Lamb Rara is the best curry ever! Food is cheap, but so nice and great value.

A Local Pub with a curry service. I have been there few times and order Lamb curry and it very reasonable prices. I have since went back a few times and the foods is lovely and tried different dishes. The beer is lovely too, They also have grilled foods but never tried them yet.

We came here for a Christmas celebration with friends and were not disappointed. Great service, good food and reasonably priced too. The lamb rara was tasty and so was the mixed grill, especially the fish pakoras.

Always do a good range of curries and mixed grills. Food cooked fresh and served by friendly staff. Highly recommend their signature chilli chips and lamb chops

My partner lives near here so when i stay over this is the place i like to come to The chilli paneer is second to none The sizzlers are lovley and portions huge !!! The thing thst stands out to me is the lovley friendly team of peopleEspecially the guys behind the bar always a hand shake and a munute to chat real friendly place Love the fact its a sports bar to so great to come for a football game I always feel welcome here and comfortable and that to me is important

We popped in for a quick lunch. There were quite a few vegetarian opinions so we ordered Danny’s Paneer, saag paneer and a naan. The flavour of Danny’s paneer was a bit vinegary and not as hot as advertised on the menu. The saag paneer lacked flavour. There were quite a few people in the restaurant but one half smelt of bleach and the other near the kitchen smokey with the grills. The decor looks unfinished as parts of the walls were white and the rest grey. I don’t think I would go back again in all honesty.

About my 5th visit, medium mixed grill must be the best value anywhere, curry and nans good as well. Worth a visit anytime. Owned by New Soho Tavern and has a similar menu.

OMG what can I say. This was my first visit to New cottage and my word the food was amazing. We went as they sponsor my sons football team Halas hawks and all i can say is the best curry i have ever had

I love the place, Their chicken jalfrazi is amazing and their garlic naan is to die for although no one will want to talk to you next day 😀 Portionss are huge compared to most and the value is cracking Deffo 10/10

The food was excellent very large portions, friendly atmosphere, the staff very helpful, it was quite busy but the food did not take too long and came out hot.

good food, been a few times and food has always been good crowd changed over the year and more of rowdy crowd now at 99 so it is a better atmosphere in here

We visited Friday night, it was busy with some loud drinkers and diners. The car park has several pot holes so be aware and some strange parking. Someone had decided they would park their small car in the middle of a fairly empty car park and stuff who ever is trying to get in or out. The inn is long with the bar at the beginning and the restaurant continuing into the back. The tables are comfortable with good seats, clean overall but the food wasn't the best. The nans came out quite greasy with burnt bits, his grilled meats were also burnt in quite a few places. My dahl was tasty enough,the salad that we were given wasn't the freshest I have had. I find as there are so many of these places now that you can pick where you want to go rather than put up with not so great food. I find some of the other choices of a higher standard than this little pub. The service was good, the place was full of diners from non Asian backgrounds who were enjoying the food/drink etc.

Visited the pub before heading up the Albion one night. And the food is so good. Eaten in the sister venue the new soho tavern many times and just dropped by here and what can only be described as Indian mixed grill heaven. What more would you want good beer and amazing food. Will be back here and the sister venue again. And the chilli chips are out of this world!

On arrival I found the staff helpful. The venue is clean and tidy. Good menu. Good food just cooked how I like it. Very pleased will visit again.

We were a group of 25 people who turned up for dinner. The food is amazing - very tasty and there is plenty of food, the portion sizes are very big. The service is very fast even for the large group and with other people in the restaurant. The bar also do amazing cocktails.

This is now our place of choice for Indian food. the food is out of this world we have been back numerous time since and each time its been fantastic.

The food is really good Indian BBQ and curries. It's is good for families, children are welcome. You can play pool and darts. It's a good place for groups and couples

I wish this place was nearer to where I live. The beers on tap were excellent. The whisky choice was unbelievable. The seating is comfortable, the staff were great and the food was fantastic.

I came in with my in-laws and was presently surprised by walking in while being warmly welcomed by the wonderful staff! I ordered 2 mixed grills with their chilli chips and fish pakora and was very happy with the portion I was given! The bear garden is fabulous! Tvs and everything outside!! Give it a try guys it’s worth ur while.

Amazing food, staff, atmosphere, drinks and venue!! Love the vibe here! The butter chicken, mixed grills, chilli chips and veggie choices are to die for! Also the beer garden is definitely one to check out in warmer weather

was out for a drive and fancied something spicey.we came across the new cottage and went in for a drink only to find a excellent selection of food prepared and cooked for all to see.we stayed for mixed bbq grill which was delicious and curry with rice and naan, plus a couple of drinks.great food good value for your money ,pleasant staff.we will definitely return .

This establishment is the sister eatery of The new Soho Tavern. It however isn't a patch on it. The staff sometimes leave you concerned with their hygiene practices. Not washing hands and making naan or hand picking salad after cleaning tables has in the past led me to having to 'experience' the food twice!

Veggie mixed grill and chilli chips are brilliant. Rest of the food is also decent. However drinks are much too expensive.

I read most of the reviews before coming so wasn’t sure what to expect, but may I start off with a wow. I came with my family and friends, there was about 20 of us and they accommodated us quite well , in nicely laid out room with tvs everywhere (by the way as you walk in you get a great view of the open kitchen, which I thought was pretty good).

We finished a game of Badminton and popped in for some food. Portion sizes were decent but the mixgrill was very very poor indeed. Very tasteless and it seemed as though none of it was marinated properly for a long time. There was no depth in flavour with any of the meats, just coated with marinade. Very disappointing. We still ate it mainly due to the fact we were absolutely starving from badminton and didn't want to travel anywhere else as we had paid. However, I'm sure those that like mild, bland food may enjoy it. I can't comment on the curries as we asked for them to be spicy but didn't realise how hot they would actually be so it ruined the main course but we took part of the blame for that. The service from the kitchen is what has made me give two stars instead of one as the guy serving us was friendly and provided great service. Would I return again? It wouldn't be at the top of my list purely because the food let's the pub down. Otherwise, it looks like a decent place for a drink with friends.

I came across this place via a friend who recommended it to us, for myself and my girlfriend. I ordered the large grill for both of us with a portion of chips to share and the meal came with two naans. A grand total of £18.25.

Let me just say the food here is very good. The portion size is brilliant and often you have the take it home. When it started out it was great but I have been let down recently, there’s new competition next door but I must say I still prefer the cottage regarding their food. But there are problems that the place has to address now!

Went for a meal and can honestly say it was awful. I did complain but the staff member just shrugged her shoulders. Can’t say it was good experience. I certainly won’t be in a rush to go back.

I have been to the Cottage many times with friends for drinks and pool, on our latest visit we decided to have some food I had a Chicken Massala with Cottage Chips (battered massala chips) and a Garlic & Cheese Naan which cost £10.50 and was extremely good, my friends all had Wings and Cottage Chips they all enjoyed their food too. For the price it is definitely worth a visit.

I organised a gathering and went to a rival Desi Pub, however it was a little rowdy and some of the punters were a little rude. My friend suggested this place...off the beaten track for me. I was surprised how the place looked on the inside. The menu had a good selection of dishes for carnivores and vegetarians alike. The old eyes bigger than stomach mode was on. In hindsight, should have opted for a smaller mixed grill, but hey it's Christmas. If you like a good Indian mixed grill then you will not be disappointed with this one. It came to our table sizzling loudly and smoking hot that could set off several smoke alarms. A great selection of meats. The Cottage grill can comfortably feed 4 people as 2 naans are included. It is fantastic value for money. I also ordered a lamb saag. The meat was very tender and full of flavour. The sauces and dips were served in dishes unlike some pubs where they use giant squeezy bottles. Paper napkins provided, not a roll of cheap kitchen roll as you would find in some places. It's good to have a take home option if you can't eat it all. Above all the staff were very friendly. I'll look forward to visiting again at some point.

Firstly I got to say thank you for one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The food here is of outstanding quality. We just got home from visiting here for the first time & had a wonderful meal. The large mixed grill is just as it says,large. Could not eat even half of it,but luckily they provide doggy bags so we brought the rest home for tomorrow nights tea. This would easily feed 3 people,it really is huge. Chicken tikka starter was lovely,big juicy chunks of chicken & nan breads were spot on. Beer & cider also decent price,with very good selection on drought plus bottles. Friendly staff & asked us what time we wanted our main bringing out. Suitable for family's too with a relaxed atmosphere,we visited with our 6 year old daughter. The kids meals are neatly as big as an adult meal too. My daughter also said the chicken nuggets were nice.If you fancy a good curry,this is definitely the place to go. Very reasonable prices. Hopefully will be returning soon.

Was brill had the £11.50 one loads for 2 people and took some home we had a wrape.be too .loved it.beer was good to there still doin bit of work on place but that dont get in the was nice food

I have been to The Cottage many times with my friends, it is a nice pub with a good atmosphere. The food there is great and for a reasonable price it is worth a visit and just off Jcn 2 of the M5.

This place is a bit rough around the edges...but if you ignore that and rate it on food it's top notch 10/10...The best curry in the area by far...order the lamb curry as it's amazing and they don't mess around on the portions either.

I live local. Years ago it was a pub to avoid, but now... If you like tasty Indian style food, cooked fresh and in your view; with friendly staff; generous portions at very reasonable prices then this is the place to go. I have no qualms about taking my young grandchildren there - they love it. The only drawback is the lack of off road parking.

My adult son and I have just returned from a four day leisure trip away together. We stayed at various Premier Inns up and down the country and on the first night of our trip, a Saturday, we spent the night in Oldbury.

Really enjoyed a meal and a few pints here recently. Found the place on Tripadvisor and it was a short drive from our Premier Inn so thought we'd give it a go. The title of the place is a bit confusing as Bar and Grill, should be more like Sports Bar with a curry house in the back of it!!! We had two curries and two naans for less than £14. Amazing value and very tasty.

Excellent food. Ordered the chicken tikka and naan. Food came fairly quickly and was very nice. Good pub as well with a huge range of spirits.

We come here from rubery as it is the best desi grill I have visited and I have been to many in Birmingham we always have the mixed grill stater and lamb Balti the flavour in the Balti is amazing and the lamb is so tender my daughter has a children's meal which is massive I def recommend here always come here

Visited this place with my brother, we both had the mixed grills with chips. The quality of the food is excellent and the portions generous. We have visited many Indian bar and grill pubs in the local area and this one is in our top three.

We were planning to visit another local restaurant but they were closed, so looked through TripAdvisor to find somewhere near and came across The New Cottage Bar & Grill.

Went to this pub the other day , food was great with large portions ! The chilli chips were awesome , all the curries had their own unique taste . The pub is busy but you can get a table quite easily . Would definitely return .

Fresh, tasty, well presented food. It has been on our “must visit” list since we found the British Queen in Oldbury as few weeks ago. In fact, the two desi pubs might have been out of the same box. Same décor, same style, same beers and very similar menus. The similarities are too close to be coincidental but they say they are not related.

This is the 1st restaurant I've reviewed twice . The bar staff are really friendly good selection of drinks for everyone. The chef and his staff are great the food is exceptional I can't recommend the new cottage enough. Regards value for money and quality it's got the lot FANTASTIC 10 out of 10 !.

Its a pub, with an open kitchen working (independently?) in the corner. The aromatics surround you when you walk in, which would be difficult to resist even if you didn't plan to eat in there.

It's a small place but it's clean, decent priced on food and drinks. The meals are lovely and you can see it being cooked as it is an open plan kitchen to the seating area. 2 tvs in the restaurant part and a bar with a snooker table further down.

First impressions are bit rough at the edges,but dont let that fool you,one of the best indians i have eaten in a fair few years,15 of us ate here and everyone said how good it was,food was plentiful and very reasonable in price,Would strongly recommend this place to anyone

I visited with 3 friends the weekend for the first time. We didn't have to wait very long for the food to arrive. We shared masala chips, mixed grill (which came with naan bread) and dandy hot wings. All the food came to 20...shared between 3 excellent value and the portions are huge. The quality of food was very good.

Visited The New Cottage Bar & Grill on the recommendation of my son, was not disappointed, very friendly welcome at the bar, food was amazing, kitchen staff very polite asked when we would like starters and mains, nothing was too much trouble, asked for a doggy bag to take home as was too much food, was sorted out and bagged up, and will definitely be returning again, how have we not heard of this place x

The food here is lovely and quite cheap. I have paid a lot more for food of this quality. I personally recommend the mixed grill and the lamb chops. I think the price of the drinks could be less as it really is only a local pub. You pay more for soft drinks than what you pay for a pint.

We don't live far from the new cottage and I have to say it has completely changed over the past couple of years. It's excellent to visit now as a family and the food is superb!! Prices very reasonable too!!

Having never tried food from here we was abit nervous but we thought why not! So glad we did! The food was hot, delicious and so tasty! We will be returning soon

I've been to loads of mixed grill places in B'ham and this is definitely one of the best. The food is fantastic and for those who like it hot, you should try their Danny sauce (not for the feint hearted).

Very soft lamb just how I like it and hardly any grease visible......excellent fast service.....I'll let defo be back!

After seeing this place recommended on the Birmingham Mail we thought we'd give it a try! We are so glad we did!

Me & a mate popped in Sunday eve, food was ok but personally found it bland, the masala chips wasn't at all masalafied, BBQ large wasn't spicy enough but going for the Danny sauce wasn't preferd as it would contain sauce n not the right masala mix, nevertheless nice lay out, friendly, & open kitchen.. recommended,rating is an opinion & not overall a critic decision all the best to the establishment

I love a mixed grill and I've sampled a fair few. The one at New Cottage is the best so far. We had the Cottage mixed grill for £15 and some fish pakora. Comes with 2 naans, good dips and salad. Too much for 2 of us. So good. The place itself isn't bad either. Had it as takeaway but would sit in.

This is a pub in the middle of a housing estate, adjacent to an industrial area and looks nothing like somewhere that would serve the best Indian food I have tasted since my last visit to Goa... but it is!!

Had a few of these grills all over Birmingham but this one is the best of the lot. Had a take-out of large mixed grill which came with lamb chops and fish pakora plus the usual chicken & sheek kebab stuff. Naan's were light & thin, not the usual mouthfuls of stodge that are usually served up. We had a veggie with us so had chilli paneer, which was fab plus also a tarka dall, very nice too. Think the bill came to £27 for four of us and I ate the leftovers the next day. Top quality, I will return.

As you walk into the venue and see a modern style bar in the middle with open plan kitchen at one end, the concept may seem odd to some! But I can assure you this place will surprise you as a first time visitor. Order your drinks at the bar and head to the kitchen counter to order your food. 4 curries and extras later, it was clear we had just eaten our best family curry and as some may mention the portion sizes are a bit big, we found them just right.... The price was very reasonable and although some may see this as a worry on quality, that is not the case.... staff were all friendly, welcoming and very helpful when realising we were not local. It can be bit tricky to find this venue, but the post code worked fine.. our only regret is that we are unlikely to be back to Birmingham for some time.

The food here is lovely however the portions are a little bit big, also the price is extremely cheap for the quality of food that you get. The chef seemed kind and the locals seem to love this place as they all know each other. Lovely atmosphere. Cheap high quality food, all good in my books.

I Visit the new cottage almost every week if not once a fortnight, I have been to a selection of Indian restaurants around Wolverhampton and Birmingham and this is the best by far, the food is so tasty and the portions so generous it will leave you wanting to return no doubt!
