Ordered through deliveroo and the food never turned up. Called the store an hour after ordering to be told it will take another hour and food was sat waiting for a driver. Shop shut at 10pm so no one to then hand my food over to. Don’t waste your time

I don't know what has happened to this place but last night's delivery was probably the worst Chinese I've ever had. The starters were stone cold and damp. The spring rolls had nothing in them and the ribs were just disgusting. The chicken fried rice was not fried - just bland white rice and the chicken was anaemic. Sorry - not ordering from you again.

This is a very good value vegan all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant serving at least 35 different dishes to choose from when I visited for lunch on a Wednesday. The choice is excellent with a variety of hot and cold dishes including gyoza, tofu, noodles and a lot of soya based fake meat. The dishes vary but overall the quality of the food is very good - not overly salty, oily or too spicy and with some good quality ingredients, especially in the cold salad bar. The serving dishes were heated and covered with a temperature indicator so they could be sure the contents stayed warm. The restaurant is basic but very clean with nice toilets and friendly staff. One big plus is that the food is prepared just behind the serving bar so you can see EVERYTHING in the kitchen. Not many places can boast this, and it goes to show how confident they are about their hygiene. The jewel in the crown is that you get all-you-can-eat for just £9.90 for lunch – which is a spectacularly good deal. They could easily charge £15 and it would still be an absolute bargain. Even the drinks are reasonable: water, coke, tea, etc for just £2 and beer and wine for £4 per glass. For central London this is very cheap indeed and you couldn’t get much cheaper from a bargain supermarket. This place really deserves 5 stars all round and I hope word gets about and they stay in business as I intend to visit again the next time I am in London.

We have been a few times but this was not a great visit, it was busy and we hadn’t booked, but they sat us by an fire exit door/ storage room and the staff needed to keep going in and out and kept leaving door open, I was frozen throughout our meal despite getting up and closing the door several times myself, they didn’t seem to notice or even care 🤔 Staters were good except the chicken for chicken satay was tough as old boots. Our hoped highlight of crispy duck and pancakes was awful plenty of duck but SO dry, the cucumber batons had obviously been cut well in advance so were also dry so offered no moisture to the dish. The hoisin sauce was shocking it actual had no sweetness and a nasty state cheesy aftertaste. My husband was treating me to this meal as a nice surprise so really didn’t wasn’t to make any fuss that would spoil his efforts so didn’t complain. It was barely edible though if I’m honest 😬 Can hoisin sauce go off? The next course was good thank goodness, special fried rice excellent and sizzling prawns very nice. Staff were friendly but busy. Probably won’t go back and try to find another restaurant that’s more consistent on flavour and quality.

Went there as a group of 8 people. I would say it is a hidden gem on Oxford Road, Manchester. The food were very nice. The Prawn Tempura is the best I ever had. As you can see in the photos, the colour is light, dry and crispy. Other restaurant's Tempura are dark, soggy and greasy. The other one you must try is the Braised Beef Rendang. OMG the beef is so soft and tender. Once eaten you will never forgets about it. Trust me.

I have eaten at River Gardens for many years. We still enjoy a delivered meal. But to eat in- it was an awful experience this time. Tatty, curled noticed on the doors and barrier glass up at the bar makes it feel rather unwelcoming. The decor is rather tired, but also tatty and dirty in places. I understand paying up front - but it is not usual and it is not undertaken smoothly - the waiting staff seen rather uncomfortable. The warming plate arrived, stacked with plates and cutlery. And left like that. No one set out the table. Similarly, when the duck arrived with its trimmings, they were left stacked in the plate too. Most of the food was ok - but the crispy duck was rather dry, tough and did not seem hot or fresh. Served as chunks rather than shreds. Finally - when asking for the top up bill, I would expect a bill, to check, then pay. But no - just a card machine and this is how much it is. And to be honest, the cost completely outweighed the experience. The waiting staff seemed inexperienced, did not interact well and did not perform what I consider the most basic of service tasks. I will stick to a delivery order next time. Please sort things out River Gardens- I want to come back and enjoy the evening.

We decided to dine in rather than takeaway. The food was good. The service was good. The atmosphere was good. The takeaway part was busy - probably due to Forest Holidays being close by. So all in all, we couldn't complain. But it didn't have that wow factor. It was just ... ... good 🙂
