Oakwood chef in Derby

Probably the worst food that I've ever had. We ordered 2 boxed meals, one being sweet & sour chicken. It was delivered from Oakwood in approximately 20 minutes, which is quick to say the least. After plating up the sweet & sour and cutting into the first piece and regrettably not checking, I initally noticed the bad taste, and then that it was pink in the middle. I cut into second piece and found the same. We also ordered a pancake roll, and it was noticeabley greasy. I wasn't going any further with the 'meal' and binned it. We won't be wasting £25 again.

Salt and spicy chips decent. Good flavour with good portion size. Both curry and black pepper sauces ok. Pepper a little watery. Spicy shredded chicken awful. Far far too chewy and not pleasant, left half as got tougher as it cooled down. Prob wont go again as qq on wiltshere rd is a mile away and ten times better. Not impressed. Service was good and concise. Prep time approx 20 mins.

Has to be the best Chinese takeaway! Been using Oakwood Chef for years When you order the food it consistently arrives very hot in the containers! The sweet and sour chicken balls are absolutely perfect! Crispy and just that light grease with great texture in the chicken. Chicken chow mein is very tasty and the portions are large for the size. Hong king style pork is very delicious with the vegetables just crispy and cooked beautifully. The egg fried rice is very nice too Chicken and mushroom curry smells very appealing. Every food item is unique on its own. The ordering is fast and efficient. The staff sweet are pleasant and the convenience of the experience time and time again is always great. I really look forward each time ordering from Oakwood Chef.

Tried Oakwood chef for the first time today, both me and my partner were thrilled with the food. Customer service was excellent, will definitely be returning again!

Live abroad so I only have a Chinese every 6 months and tried this place for the first time tonight based on good reviews and really disappointed. Tastes the same as the supermarket "fakeaway" bags, frozen bag of supermarket onion rings, couldn't even get simple fried rice right - bland and boring. Wouldn't go here again. Takeaway prices, £50 wasted, cos now I still fancy a Chinese cos I don't feel like I've had one.

Normally we order from here but Won't be ordering again i placed a order last night now ever since we've had food poison shame aswell because it used to be really nice now it dont taste the same anymore especially the chicken balls they tasted like they've had cleaning products in or you've just not cleaned your equipment properly whatever the problem it tasted very funny

We've been having food from Oakwood Chef for years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is always hot and delicious and the menu offers plenty of variety. The staff are fabulous too.

Chips seemed as if re heated as over cooked but soggy, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style chicken pieces stuck together. Prawn toast over cooked and very greasy.

Just picked up a takeaway, have been here quite a few times, food was really nice and the lady is always really polite. Good standards, thank you!

First time ordering from oakwood chef food was very nice will definitely order from them again.

Lived in Oakwood for 15yrs around the corner, wanted to try for a while, normally use Ph House, time to see the competition and glad I did beef cooked well not so chewy & fatty, chicken satay was great & chicken n mushroom rice really good. Large potions too. I'll def use again

Had a takeaway last night for a party of 8. The food was delicious as always, everyone enjoyed it (and we had a lot of it!) Very friendly service/delivery. Oakwood Chef is the best Chinese takeaway around- if you haven't tried it yet you really must! 🙂

Used for the first time, excellent food will be using many more times Their pancake rolls are exceptional how they used to be in the 70's plenty of filling and not all bean sprouts like other Chinese takeaways.

Perfect local takeaway. Food is lovely & consistently good. Lots of veggie choices. Pity not open for lunch time but totally understandable due to location. Top hygiene rating too!

Best Chinese I've had in a long time

Had a delicious meal last night from The Oakwood Chef. Made a phone order & told 15 min wait. Food was ready on time . Received free crackers & free spring rolls as spent over £30. All the food was freshly cooked, piping hot & the best chinese I’ve had for a while . Order inc crispy chilli beef, s&s king prawn balls , beef in pepper, ribs in peking, fried chicken in Kung Po , mixed starter, egg fried rice. Large portion sizes too . Will now be my regular chinese takeout as very impressed

Went to order for the first time, the offer stated on there photos when you order them they go up in price apparently it's not a fixed price. Charges for card payment ect getting aftted on at the end of the call. Wanted to get the order through and correct and the lady on the phone just couldn't be bothered and hung up the phone

Food is always ready quickly, tastes great and not too much salt or sugar as a lot of Chinese places do. Highly recommend!

The duck didn't taste well. It was probably imported duck from China. I tried roast duck in China Town in Birmingham. The skins were much crispy and meats tasted very well. I only came across good roast duck in Derby in the small village of Melbourne, A very well established old takeaway still maintained traditional Chinese cooking.

This is really good for a takeaway. We ordered quite a few different dishes for a varied family takeaway. It arrived quick and all was tasty and hot. Would definitely recommend, something for everybody and not too expensive.

Ordered a takeaway. Arrived cold and bland. No sauce on dishes. Chow mein was just noodles and costing £6.20 rip off. Rubbish! Get a new chef!

First visit for a takeaway treat and won't be the last.clean tasty food and not greasy like some i have tried. Well recommended.
