Chicken chow mein was lovely but salt and pepper chips were the worst I’ve had, lovely service and was quick didn’t have to wait long, cash only!

Don't order Chinese from anywhere else! Always quick delivery and food is always exactly what was ordered, hot and tasty.. Great service 👏 👍 Highly recommended 👌

Food was excellent, highly recommend the duck in plum sauce and the pork vermicelli. Parking nearby can be a bit of a pain though.

Just received an order this evening. It was the Szechuan chicken. The chicken was like mush or slime. It was very off putting and unfortunately I spent the meal picking it out and feeling icky about the small amount that I had eaten.

Takeaway. Everything was good except for the special fried rice...AWFUL...£10 for boiled rice with a few bits of carrot onion and tiny amount of prawns (2) and meat! Do not order this dish, disgraceful they charge that much for it tbh.

For online orders they're moving back to using their old website, which isn't currently listed on Google, but it's printed on their menu, or you can ring them for info. Otherwise it's cash only in the shop. Friendly and fast service. Food is always hot and tasty. Lots of interesting veggie options as well usual meat and prawns. It's cheaper to order from them directly.

Best Takeaway in Derby, fullstop! I highly recommend the House Platter, Salt and Pepper Chicken, Shredded Beef or Chicken Chow Mein dishes. Not too greasy and great service as always.

Must of changed ya chef because the food was horrible salt pepper chicken was soggy and fatty ribs were full of fat and the salt and peper chips wre soggy and plain wont be ordering again, terrible food

Tried a few chinese takeaways around the area and Sun Waa is our go to place now. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Might take a while to get your food though during busy days but this is a good thing, shows they are busy. Recommended.

We’ve been getting deliveries from sun wah for a few years now. We have never been disappointed. The food always arrives before the time they say which is usually within 30 to 40 minutes but is often a lot quicker and is always still hot and very tasty.

This used to be my favourite place, but I was totally disappointed with food I ordered yesterday, salt pepper squid was bone dry and sunwaa special fried rice that used to come in round container..this came in rectangular container and it tasted horrible. Never ordering again from this place...

Just had our first order from them. We had chicken chow mein and it was really nice and the mock seaweed was amazing. The delivery to Mackworth was 20 minutes. I'm impressed with them and will definitely order from them again.

Sun waa special rice nice, but bulked up with a load of boiled rice with sauce and veg /meat on top.Over priced for what you get.

Great food and nice customer service

The best chinese takeaway around our area. We go every week. Always hot, delicious and good sized portions. Prices are average for a decent takeaway. Usually takes about 15 minutes for it to be ready for us to collect. Staff are lovely, helpful and polite. Definitely recommend. Only downside is they only take cash - no card payments but otherwise no issues what so ever.

We have ordered food from Sun Waa twice previously and the food has been great. Expensive prices, almost London takeaway prices, but we didn't mind paying the extra for good quality.We ordered House Special Fried Rice, Singapore Noodles and BBQ spare ribs on Friday 12 March 2021. The food was shockingly poor. The fried rice wasn't fried but boiled with a few bits of insipid pork, beef and cauliflower on top. The ribs were good quality but the BBQ sauce was greasy and tasteless. The Singapore noodles were ok but nothing as good as we've had previously from here.We have never ordered on a weekend before. It was Monday nights the previous two times. Maybe a different chef or they are too busy to cook quality dishes on a weekend who knows?Sorry to give poor feedback but we paid £25.30 for the above including delivery and at that price we expect better. We won't be using Sun Waa again.We will say that the delivery guy is always very nice and the food arrives on time. Shame we couldn't finish it.

Some really nice dishes! The salt and pepper tofu was excellent! Would of been 5 star but I think just slightly on the pricey side.

Have started using Sun Waa last few months as my husband prefers the meat to other takeaways in the local area. Have used a number of times now for small and large orders when family have been round and the food has always been very good. Both meat dishes and vegetarian.The orders have always been complete, hot, delivered in good time and if they are busy they will tell you how long to expect to wait! The lady we speak to when we order is always very helpful.Food is tasty and we have had no complaints from anyone we have ordered for.Thanks Sun Waa

Absolutely shocking. Ordered at 7pm, got given a delivery time of 8:10pm. At 8:45pm rang to ask where my order was to be told that it wasn't even cooked but would be with us by 9:30pm. At 9:45pm we had a message saying our food had been delivered so we tried to ring them and no one picked up after a lot of ringing. My partner then drove to the takeaway and was told the order had left them with the driver. Got told they would make a fresh order to be taken away in 10 minutes which it still took over 15 minutes but at 10:45pm, 3hours and 45minutes after placing the order, we had our food at home. And we weren't the only ones to have to physically drive to pick up our order. Other people were walking in to collect due to a lack of receiving their order and no one answering the phone.

Really disappointed with the customer service. We ordered from here a couple weeks ago after ordering in the past when at a friends house. The food was lovely, and is one of the best we’ve had. Unfortunately tonight’s experience has really let them down. I ordered again using their website and paid by card. I then got a text to say my order was cancelled as we were too far away. Our postcode DE65 is an area covered on their website and they even took the extra amount to cover the miles. I called to question as was told the driver said it was too far last time and he wouldn’t go again. Why weren’t we told this? And why couldn’t the restaurant call me and discuss this, I could have gone to collect. Instead I’ve had to order from someone else and my refund will take 3-5 days!!!

These guys are amazing, the food is always really hot, tasty and on time (if not early!). If its just us or friends (pre-lockdown) everyone is always really impressed. Good quality and reasonable prices with great delivery. Please use them! They are great. (P.S. I don't know them at all in case you were wondering).

UPDATE - my wife's food was incorrectly supplied as a chow mein with egg rather than without (she doesn't eat egg). A call to Sun Waa to report the issue and 20 mins later the correct dish was delivered to our door, no extra charge. Absolutely top class customer service, have been coming here for years and will continue to do so!! Nice food from here, even though there are a few closer to home - the salt & pepper squid and twice-cooked pork are a must

So glad to see Sun Waa open again. Crispy shredded beef was fab. Pancake rolls lovely and great value for money. Customer service fantastic.

Ordered a chicken curry for the Mrs. And ordered a sirloin for myself chicken curry was bog standard but ok but the steak was absolutely disgusting from the moment I opened the Tub I could smell rotten meat because jesus I thought maggots where about to pop never ever again! In the bin thanks con men.

The good thing about Sun Waa is that the food is consistent and of relatively good quality compared to other Chinese restaurants in the surrounding areas.

I found this place through an internet search, Google was my first stop to look at their reviews. The Google reviews were excellent, on here, not so much. I always give a place the benefit of the doubt, 15 top reviews against 1 bad one The other moaning mini is reviewing Sun Waa on their mistake with the order, I couldn't give a damn about that, I want to know what the food is all about. All that said, I decided to order via Just Eat as I am the other side of Derby and I know the app will deliver. It was New Years eve on a Sunday and my local was closed so was expecting a huge difference, you know how it is when one has been using the same place for years, one gets so used to the food, taste and service.I was ordering for six people so had a variety of food.The food travelled 5 miles across Derby, it arrived hot and on time.My guests were pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. A reviewer on Google pointed out just how tasty the food was, that reviewer had made quite a few reviews so I trusted their judgment, and rightly so, I was happy that her review was spot on. I was actually blown away with the taste and exceptional quality. Please trust me on this, I would go as far to say that their food is one of the best in Derby. Well done Sun Waa.

It’s the best Chinese food in derby

Always very efficient at completing the order, and food is always high quality. Don't expect fine dining, this is a simple chinese takeaway and they do it well.

Been using this takeaway for a few months now and we find the quality of the food is excellent and very delicious. In our opinion it’s the best in the area and believe me we are not easily pleased.

Love the food! Only complaint is that the prices recently went up again.... but I still like the food.

Changed my 5 star to 1. Used to be reasonable. Now, utterly ridiculous that once the onions are removed your food portion is halved. No meat, lack of flavour, despicable customer service. Better places not far away. Don't waste your money.

It took me a long while to make the telephonist understand my post code then my order arrives incorrect and at the wrong price !!!! So annoyed iv been sent 4 lots of fortune cookies for a single person order, and 2 sets of prawn crackers one I have paid for and a complementary bag too, if that's not bad enough the prices have gone up and I was not told about it, I wouldn't mind but the prices on our menu were correct last week but seemed to have gone up this week and not pre warned, I'm not happy at all !!!!!!

This is my local Chinese takeaway and I frequently have home deliveries. Have always found the food piping hot and exactly what I have ordered. Delivery is usually very prompt.

First time I have used them, ordered on line had a large order as for a party, asked for 6.45 delivery . Food arrived on time piping hot and everything was so tasty, the only thing left on our table was a few chips. Would highly recommend them Xx
