Taste House Chinese Takeaway in Derby

Called up to order and sat on the phone for 6 minutes with no talking after them saying one moment and when the phone was picked back up the phone was put down

I had a mushroom curry which was lovely but as with the last one I had there was way to much salt in it so I had to leave most of it . So please cut down on the salt

This is not the cleanest place rat hole should be higher not lower

First time of buying a meal here for a long time. Pancake roll good. Beef chow Mein dreadful very salty and greasy even the dog refused it. Wont buy again.

Food is disgusting. Worst Chinese ever. The sweet and sour sauce taste like tomato ketchup and I've never had a chicken curry that tastes really spicy. Made me think what are they trying to disguise. It all went in the bin. Absolute waste of £20 plus. Oh and it says delivery but they don't offer delivery service

Food was disgusting overwhelming taste of garlic ,chips were limp and cold the only edible thing was the rice ,wouldn't recommend and definitely won't be buying again

I arrived early to meet and order with my friend... I'd asked permission to sit out of the cold until ready to order which they allowed! 🙂 I felt the waiting time for my order was very adequate compared with other units being too quick or too long Which supports how hot n tasty I found the food. I don't have the luxury of paying for this type of meal often but when I do... I order here before the other local units nearby!

Sorry to leave a negative review. I only live 2.6 miles away and they said they only deliver in a 2 mile radius, I even offered to pay extra for delivery. Well. No problem I'll go else where!

Honestly can't complain with the food here. Been a few times over the last month. Everything cooked throughly and taste great, can't recommend it enough.

A real shame, used to be really nice. They have recently changed a lot of things and unfortunately not the better. Chips are smaller, currys are like water and chicken balls have shrunk in quantity and quality

My usual Chinese was closed (owners on holidays) so tried The Taste House for the first time in a long time. Sweet n Sour Chicken and Egg Fried Rice is usually a safe option, tho' normally it tastes the same from every takeaway. Same ingredients, same pre-prepared sauce. This time, hmm. Something just seemed different. Still OK, but bland. Not going to rush back there,

Absolutely gorgeous food hot spicy lots of nuts and veg in my kung po. Speedy delivery friendly staff but pleaseeeee can you get a card machine! Only down side. Sometimes need to pay over the phone when we have no cash on us.

Had a chat with the chef about allergies, he explained processes and why they cannot cater for those living with coeliac disease. Both attentive and apologetic.

Very good price. I’ve ordered beef chow mein and salt and pepper chicken. The chicken was very tasty though the portion was on smaller side. Chow mein was a bit plain, but overall I was pleased with this place.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I really didn't enjoy the food.Rice was awful, very stodgy and chips well over cooked.First time eating here and I'm not going to try anymore dishes as it just went in the bin.

A hidden gem. The set person for one meal is £10 and comes with: 5 chicken balls with S&S sauce Egg fried rice Chicken and mushroom Prawn crackers It's was plenty and may even be enough for two people! And the prawn crackers are much better here than most other places. The crackers are actually thick and crunchy, not thin and bland. High reccomend giving this place a try. Please note they only accept cash!

Not been here for a while, usually really good Went last night for chips , curry sauce , fried rice and a chow mein. Was so unedible this all went straight in the bin. Chow mein was a few noodle in a watery liquid with awful looking chicken floating on top. Totally different to usual. Appreciate there are oil problems at the minute but what was the weird looking rice cooked in. Never again. Waste of money.

By far the best Chinese in allenton and some of the surrounding areas I drive from Littleover to go here it's that good been eating from here for 18+ years. The food has always been good never had anything wrong or missed or even just not very nice Consistently good and fairly priced the only thing is they don't offer delivery but it's worth the trip out to collect

Can't review the food as we didn't order but we visited as we'd seen a review saying staff can inform you of vegan options. When we went in to ask, the lady behind the counter just looked at us in complete confusion. Absolutely no idea what we were asking about. A shame as we were really looking forward to Chinese.

Really enjoyed the meal from here with my partner. Great food to relax and enjoy with a bottle of prosecco in this hot summer weather. The food was fresh and rich in taste, and a very decent amount of food as well. Would definitely try something new next time when there is a special occasion. Just a tip, don't use the menu from any websites as they are very out of date. Just use the ones that the owners updates on Google photos. 100% recomend!

In summary, the only thing that's not as good is that they don't deliver..BUT the food is definitely worth it. Have been a regular customer here, no matter if it is just for a quick meal for myself or a big order for a family/friend gathering, never disappoints the guests.

Has restored my faith in chinese takeaways. Used to use it when I lived in the area. Moved to a different area and have found that chinese takeaways have declined more and more each year in the quality and taste of their food so much so that I have avoided them for some time. After moving back to the area and still being disappointed with the local chinese restaurants I avoided them again until I remembered this little gem a couple of weeks ago and thought I would give it a try. So glad I did. Went back last night. Consistently good. Chinese is back on the menu!

I've lived in London for 18years and had many different Chinese from many different places but tonight I had the best pork ball's I've ever had. Keep it up

Best Chinese in Derby. Never had a bad meal from there in 35 years. Always went with my Dad as a kid. Now live in Scotland and back in Derby every couple of weeks and my husband loves it too wouldn't go anywhere else. Staff friendly too

We ordered food on a Saturday night. The restaurant weren’t delivering (at 9pm), so we drove to go and collect the order. They would not accept card payments so we then had to drive to find a cash machine. When arriving home with the order, we found only half (not an exaggeration) the food we had ordered and paid for was there, which meant we had to go to the local shop to add to the Chinese to make it a full meal. The food was mediocre, with only small portions. Some meals (such as the Chow Mein) were very nice, however. The spring rolls had nothing inside them, it was just the pastry on them. Overall, I thought the whole experience was terrible and I certainly won’t be returning. I’d recommend shopping around for your Chinese before going here.

I had lovely food from here before a big spring roll and chips n curry just a little order and it was lush.. so ordered for the whole family and went to pick it up..... The fried rice was terrible and the flavour of the house special curry was ok i guess but it was cold... the prawn special was really tasty and the chips are always great but I want more than nice chips....

I have been looking for a good chinese since moving here 2 years ago I have found it now.. fresh piping hot very tasty like Chinese used to be give it a go you won't be disappointed

We have takeaway from here regularly. We have our favourite dishes but from time to time try something different. We're never disappointed. The chilli ribs are to die for! Delicious and freshly prepared food at very ready prices. They also have a 5 for their hygiene rating! Service is always friendly. If you're looking for a great tasting, freshly prepared Chinese meal to take away then taste house is the place to get it.

My family order from this takeaway most weeks the food is allways tasty and plenty if it we allways order by phone and its allways ready in ten fifteen minutes the staff are allways happy to see you and helpful wiuld reccomend this takeaway to anyone

I grew up just around the corner but haven't been back for a while. Wonderful hot tasty food. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

We always call in to this takeaway when we are in the area (apart from the Fung Wong once!) and have never been disappointed with the food. Good prices, great quality tasty food, freshly cooked and good sized portions. Always a very quick service from friendly, polite staff.

This is my Number one Chinese, it's quite a trek for me to get to this Chinese but it is so worth it, the staff are always really friendly at the front desk and I don't need to wait long before I have my food, food is good portion size and is always piping hot
