What a fabulous evening. We haven’t been for a while but we will def be going back again soon. The food was excellent, fresh and tasty. The service was superb, friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much bother. Strongly recommend.

When I go here, I always visit with at least four people as you then have a choice of 7 starters and mains and a mid course of duck all included in the set buffet menu. The sizzling dishes for mains are fun and the beef one is very tasty. Personally I would ignore the sour reviews. The decor is lovely and we had a spinning top on our table to help with serving our many different dishes. Staff very friendly.

Every dish we had tasted the same! really poor food. I was warned not to eat here but chose to ignore the recommendation at my peril, upset tummy for days afterwards.

I booked this restaurant for my girlfriends birthday for 14 of us. The gentleman waiter was fantastic and when our friend mentioned he had a nut allergy, the waiter could not have been more accommodating. Excellent experience and the waiter made a big table of people look really easy and even helped with our choices. Brilliant evening

I visited the restaurant this evening and I actually never do reviews however I wanted to post this to say how wonderful the staff were, extremely attentive and welcoming and the food was was excellent. We had many dishes and couldn’t complain about any. I would definitely recommend and I will be back. - (our waiter said it was his first shift and he was so lovely!)

Food is good here. However, they are expensive for take away but used to give a 10% discount for collection. They’ve stopped doing that now and charge £3 to deliver locally. Consequently, they’ve lost my custom.

I used to use La Orient in Esher which was great. Really didn’t enjoy tonight’s take away at all, chicken satay appeared under cooked and therefore not appetising. The rice was crunchy, no egg in it when it was meant to be an egg fried rice. Over all everything we got wasn’t good. It hasn’t made us want to finish it.... it’s all going in the bin. Chicken in black bean sauce it watery too! Chinese food is never cheap and so it’s not good to feel so disappointed. China chef is a million times better, gutted I ordered from the emperor tonight!

Ordered a take away as was desperately craving Chinese food on a Friday night . I have never ordered from The Emperor as we are new to the area .. can not fault my meal at all . I made several phone calls to the restaurant to enquire about the dish I was after - the lady on reception was very polite and helpful , she talked me thru the chicken dish I was after . Food arrived within 35min (as advised ) and to be honest I found the food extremely tasty and full of flavour. It’s jot your typical greasy food . The quality of the meat dishes was amazing and you could tell the food was fresh . I was very impressed with the take away and can not wait to visit the restaurant in person .

Had their buffet meal, albeit it was brought to a serving table next to our table. It was an all you can eat meal for £24.95, which I though was good value and we are not big eaters. The service was excellent and the food very good. They managed their social distancing well with tables well spaced and a serving table next to you to minimise interaction with their waiters, all of which wore masks. All of the food was cooked to order, in line with the Covid restrictions and so was piping hot and tasty. We will definitely visit this restaurant again.

I used to go the the Emperor regularly when I lived nearby about 10 years ago and always had a great experience. When I looked on trip advisor recently there were mixed reviews so I was hesitant to go back but I’m soooo pleased I did. The service was quick and efficient and as I recognised most of the waiters I’m guessing it’s still run by the people which is nice to see. The food was hot, delicious and there’s such a good range of foods on the menu. With the “all you can eat price”, it’s good value for money if you have big appetites! We will definitely be going back.

This review is based on my experience on the day and could be different for you. We go to this restaurant a lot due the food being of extremely high quality and it is a set menu but eat as much as you like menu where you order what you want, it’s then cooked for you and not kept in silver trays. Attended a 50th birthday party and have to say no disappointment from us. Food, service, staff in fact everything connected with the restaurant was exceptional as it always is. Can’t say the same for baby continually crying and a person continually coughing ! Not the restaurants fault but always puts people on edge and ruins meals that good money is paid out for. Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes, everything about it, the restaurant is first class. Worth every penny.

My first visit to The Emperor in Horsham, Walton on Thames and certainly will not be the last. Beautifully prepared and presented food and rather large portions. Very attentive service so could not fault this restaurant. Some of the best Chinese food I have enjoyed for a very long time.

I live down the road and have never been before. I thought I’d give it a go and was pleasantly surprised. The decor atmosphere isn’t much but it was a Sunday at a odd time so was quiet. The food is great not greasy tasted hot fresh and had great service. We ordered off the buffet style menu they have great selection to eat from, prawns squid duck and comes out to you. (Not sitting under hot lights where you help yourself) we got our moneys worth and had lots of chicken squid prawns and duck was worth the money. Recommend. Avoid rice etc otherwise you will be full and pointless getting the buffet style.

This restaurant looks very smart from outside but we were a bit disappointed with the food. They offer a set menu which was OK but not great. Parking is easy with the main Hersham car park just behind.

Not normally a fan of all you can eat Chinese restaurants but the food here is great! Tasty starters, fantastic crispy duck, the kung po chicken some of the best I've tasted and the prawns in black bean sauce were excellent - not overcooked like prawns often are in these restaurants.Only wish I'd had room to try more dishes! ☺️ Will definitely return.

The food here is very tasty. We have always gone for the all you eat for £22.00 per adult. The duck pancakes are really good. It's a nice venue in a good location.

Visited the Emperor on Saturday with ten friends. The service was good. They made a fuss of our friend Ian for his birthday. The food is pretty average. Not a massive selection of main courses on the buffet. The toilets are grotty which makes you question the kitchen. The Carlsberg on tap tastes eggy too. I ended up sticking to bottles

Decided last minute to return here and so glad we did. Food was fantastic - salt and pepper squid amazing - and the service was faultless. Had a wonderful evening would highly recommend the place

Went here as part of a friends birthday meal. Was told that they do gluten free but it’s their vegetarian menu.

How the mighty have fallen. This used to be the best Chinese food for miles around, all you can eat for £19. Now the price is £22 plus 10% service automatically added and the food was awful. Most of the starters had been drying out in an oven for far too long, the prawns in envelopes were tasteless and fried in batter, the ribs dried up, everything covered in over sweet similar sauce, chicken satay was like chewing leather. These dishes should never have been allowed to leave the kitchen. We went there one weekend evening and were the only people in the entire restaurant. Never again!

The all you can eat for £20 option is brilliant as we all prefer starters to mains and this way can have as many as we like, including Peking duck. This is the restaurant we choose if not having takeaway but if the sit down menu is anything to go by, the takeaway should be good. Parking not a problem. Children must be accompanied by a ratio of one adult to 2 children. One lady was refused with 3 kids. Not seen that before but I suppose it stops other diners being bothered by other peoples kids.

Went with friends for a birthday which is what this place is best suited for. It always has decent enough service and food is pretty decent too, nothing to write home about in terms of gourmet chinese but very "Ronseal" if you know what i mean.

We went to dine on a Saturday for lunch time, there were four of us and to be honest in the whole 2.5 hours that we were there... the restaurant was empty. We ordered the menu where you can keep ordering for a set price and they bring it all to the table, it was like an average Chinese takeaway. I personally wouldn’t say make a special point of going there, if local then it’s average.

Went here a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night with 3 other friends for a nice quiet meal. The food was good and not expensive for what we had I did, however, feel the service was a bit rushed and the waiter tried coaxing us into what to order.

This is a very pleasant little restaurant with a lovely ambience and attentive staff. We have been coming here for about five years and have enjoyed the food. However, on Friday we experienced something different. We we very disappointed with several of the dishes we had. Tha Satay chicken was grisly, the crispy beef was soft and limp and the squid was extremely chewy!

Visited the restaurant with friends for a birthday celebration. The buffet is £22 so we had high hopes for a quality meal with good service. The food was ok, it lacked flavour. The chillis in most dishes had no heat. Despite not being very busy the service wasn’t very attentive and it took 3 hours to finish the meal. Steer clear of the draft carlsburg it’s flat and unpleasant.

Went there with a couple of friends plus taking my 2 sons who were not eating ordered for 3 people but drinks for 5. Food came one of my boys wanted to try some food we didnt think it was a problem so told him to go ahead thats when the manager came over and shouted at my boy asking why he was eating when we told him it was a problem to us thats when he told us to get out and dont come back snatched the plates of food away very rude person indeed.

Went there on a Sunday for the buffet and I would totally recommend, the food was delicious and all cooked fresh and the staff were amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, I would definitely go back again. THANK YOU to all the staff for giving my Daughter such a lovely time at her Baby Shower.

Good food cooked to order, very good value for money, attentive staff. What’s not to like? It can get busy, so wise to book.

Recently went here with a group of friends to celebrate my Birthday. Food was excellent and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful evening. Very good value for money and a warm friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to returning in the near future!

Great venue with a very extensive menu eat as much as you like while it’s not the cheapest it’s good value I think.

This venue is managed by a more mature staff who know how to treat people in a modern beautifully decorated and furnished environment.

Went with my family and grandchildren the food was all deep fried tasteless and we had calamari which smelt really bad.we were treated disgracefully by the staff just rude horrible people we ate some of the hor d,oeuvres.asked for the bill and left.so bad never ever again.how dare you treat peole like this shame on you .

The 'all you can eat' buffet menu is fab. Each dish is cooked to order and brought to your table. Fabulously cooked. You will not be disappointed.

Hemos estado aquí dos veces para comer el domingo, aparcamiento fácil en el aparcamiento del supermercado Waitrose. Aunque la comida estaba bastante buena, recién preparado y el servicio excelente, el restaurante se convirtió en tan ruidoso alrededor 2 de la tarde estábamos un poco. Por supuesto, la gente debe disfrutar de ellos mismos, pero los gritos de los niños y adultos gritos al otro lado de la mesas hace la alegría de comer y tener una conversación con su otros comensales decepcionante. Fuimos de nuevo pocas semanas después y tuvimos la comida más agradable, a pocos comensales en pero era tranquilo y muy relajante. La comida tan buena, caliente y fresco a la magnífica crujientes de pato. Nos objetivo para el tiempo más tranquila la próxima vez que vayamos.

Visitamos este restaurante con la familia en nuestro viaje desde España. La comida era excelente y había un montón de cosas! Había 10 de nosotros, incluyendo 3 niños menores de 12 años, y tuvimos una gran mesa redonda con un lazy susan en el medio. Tuvimos una primera selección de entrantes y estos eran deliciosos. Luego tuvimos pato y tortitas seguido por opciones individuales de plato principal. A algunos de nosotros teníamos postres que eran igual de delicioso. El personal era muy acogedor y atento y el servicio era muy bueno. A £19. 95 a comer tanto como quieras tiene muy buena relación calidad-precio y sin duda nos comimos nuestro relleno. Cuando volvemos a Surrey para una visita sin duda volver al emperador! !

Elección de un poco tarde en la noche del sábado, pero nos las arreglamos para conseguir una mesa para 4 aunque eran bastante ocupado. Una bienvenida muy amable, una buena selección en el menú y debo admitir que me sentí totalmente llenos cuando me fui. Sería bueno si me ofrecieron una degustación de algunos de los artículos ya que son un poco reacios a pedir cosas que no he probado antes debido a la información en la parte inferior del menú de comida. Con respecto a salir Quizás mi única queja sería acerca del helado desierto como no la mejor calidad pero, para ser honesto, estaba lleno de todas formas.

Went here with friends for one of my friends birthday. The company was excellent as usual but the service wasn't particularly good unfortunately.Too many trying to serve you at once and forgetting your drinks and some of the food.The food was good apart from the chicken satay that was tough as old boots. Proberbly been cooked for hours!. Like I said it was good food but not excellent food.The ambience was like sitting in a community hall and there isn't enough gap between tables in my opinion. There is a service charge which I don't agree with. As I wouldn't of given them a tip anyway for poor service. The only thing was was that it was cheap all you could eat for about £20. But you get what you pay for. I don't think I will be in too much of a hurry to come back here again.

Ok a Chinese "eat as much as you can for £19" is nothing new, but when it is cooked for you, after you have ordered, starters, then main, then sweet, with a good selection and you can order as much or as little as you like, per sitting, is a good idea, with none of those hot bowls/plates that has had food sitting in it for ages and re cooked itself 7 times then it cannot fail.... Can it ? I have to say the food I ordered for the 3 sittings was exceptional, tasty, superb value, and worth the visit. Would I visit there again ? Yes I would. Drinks are obviously separate and the more you have the more the bill goes up. Any bad points ? Only the time it takes to get a drink after ordering, but that is small fry compared to, for me anyway, the excellent food. I have not had chines food like that in s long time.

Came here for my sisters birthday with the family on a Saturday night. With 10 of us, we were given a large round table. Ordered off the set menu. Seemed the food was never ending! Food came out fresh and tasted fantastic. Great experience. Will definitely be returning.

I've been here twice with a friend who loves the place. That said, he has a condition that numbs some of his sense of taste! If you're hungry and on a low budget, it's ideal as the food is piled high and cheap. Mostly the cuisine is straight from a deep fat fryer and quite greasy. For me it lacks the taste and finesse of proper Asian food. There isn't much garnish to compliment the food itself. The dishes don't look appetising either. Service is very good and the drinks menu is OK.

Tried this as a change from our usual place..first couple of times we visited I thought it was great service lovely food etc, so we went back. However the last 2 times we went was completely different! Food was still good but the service well......rude hurried and almost seemed annoyed that we were there! This place is lovely but of they continue to be rude to people they won't return! The last time we went it was only us and one other table, so maybe it's already happened!

I work in the hospitality industry and have eaten in this local Chinese restaurant a number of times. My advice would be to avoid Friday and Saturday nights. Avoid going as very large groups on these nights as well. The food has improved somewhat over the last year or two. As others have said the starters are a bit deep fried. Choose some of the individual dishes along with the standard house hors d'oeuvres. The duck course is good but they need to have more sauces and pancakes for larger tables, 10 pancakes is not enough for 7 people if your thinking of have 2 duck pancakes. The mains are good, but asking for more seems to "put them out" when it's busy. My biggest gripe about this restaurant is the staff and service and I don't seem to be alone here. When this place is busy it's a nightmare to get the staff to service the table. They are too pushed to be polite and often take too long with requests. This restaurant needs to read reviews and add more staff to busy periods to ensure the smooth running of the floor. My last visit was on a Saturday night with a large table of people and that is not something I'm going to do again in a hurry. I had to get up twice to chase more rice and noodles before all our food was cold. We had a big bill and a good sized service charge but I left feeling disappointed.

I have been here a few times and at first it was nice and then the service we received went more downhill every time we went back. Some friends and I visited on 18th may and I was shocked how rude one of the staff were. Talk about getting the hump while taking our order. Then proceeded to make our night feel very uncomfortable. We chose this place after abandoning the moon on moon in sunbury and the new forum in shepperton due to rudeness there, I'm not sure If it's just a culture thing. Also £96 for 3 of us. I been put off these Chinese buffet places. Find your good local takeaway and enjoy that for a fraction of the price!

First time visit on New Year's Eve, we ate early and there was a set menu reasonably priced considering the day. The staff were very attentive when we arrived and the starter's and main courses were very nice the desert was ok but considering the occasion it could have been a bit better. The service did get a bit disjointed after the starter the mains seemed to come out in dribs and drabs but this did not spoil the evening. Will definitely return.

Four of us ate there for a friend's birthday on December 11th by mistake, as we were originally booked in to The Full Moon just down the road. However, this actually WAS the restaurant we wanted to try because the menu looked interesting, the décor very simple, light, clean, tidy and airy. We were surprised and somewhat concerned at the restaurant's fixed price, "eat as much as you like" menu as these are usually rubbishy, budget food. We needn't have been! The mixed starters were picturesque, very tasty and cooked to perfection. The crispy aromatic duck was cooked to perfection and our selection of main meals, including Szechuan chicken, Singapore noodles, barbeque chicken and crispy chilli beef were outstandingly tasty and very delicious. Unfortunately we were all too full to contemplate any puddings, although they were included in the price and looked very inviting. The restaurant even accommodated one of our friend's gluten-free and dairy-free requisites. I can understand one earlier reviewer objecting to the service charge being included on the bill but actually, the service was excellent and we left an additional tip. Ultimately, as the earlier reviewer stated, the service charge is not obligatory and one could ask for it to be removed should one feel it unjustified. In order to survive in this location with The Full Moon just 100 metres away, the restaurant HAS to be good and it is. Moreover, the interior of The Full Moon, although we have not tried it, looks like a transport café from the road and very uninviting. Unsurprisingly The Emperor, which is quite large, was full and no tables were available after 8.00pm. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and leaves The Chu Chin Chow in East Molesey way behind in overall quality.

We did the all you can eat which was great value , I do want to return to this restaurant as I find it better than the other all you can eat as the food is cooked fresh for you rather than sat in a hot plate for hours !

A group of us met here and had the set two course lunch at £7.50 a head. We put all our selections in the middle and tucked in and it made a great meal at a good price.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch with some of the family today. Not been for some time, food as good as ever. We decided to give the Sunday lunch menu a miss and opt for e more expensive evening menu. Plenty of really flavoursome dishes. Every dish was wonderful, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. I can't believe how empty it was, people don't know what they are missing. We did use to go quite often on a Sunday when they had the help yourself buffet at lunchtime, in those days it was heaving. Unfortunately, hardly any Chinese restaurants have help yourself anymore, which is ideal for children. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and will definitely go back more often.

A decent chinese place seems to be hard to come by, making the emperor all the more special. A bit on the sweet side, but if honey chicken and sweet and sour pork esque dishes do it for you, you will be in heaven. Sundays have the £13.50 (lunch)/£18.90 (dinner) all you can eat special from an extensive menu. There's something for everyone.

We asked for prawns wrapped in paper for two and received two prawns wrapped in paper but it's still worth visiting occasionally as the food and service are good even though at £19 per head plus 10% automatically added for service it's rather over priced. Service should ALWAYS be left to the discretion of the customer.

We had lunch today with a couple of friends at The Emperor. Not been for lunch before, so tried the lunchtime special. 2 courses with rice, £7.50. £1 extra if you wanted noodles or special fried rice. The choices were good and tasty. We decided to pay extra and had a pudding each, toffee apples, wonderful. Always liked this restaurant as there is plenty of room between the tables. The set price evening menu is excellent value. We have been here many in the evenings, especially when they first opened, and used to take the grandchildren for the help yourself Sunday buffet, shame, they stopped doing that as the kids loved it. Will definitely not leave it so long before we go back

Have been going here for years, not regularly but twice a year. Never fails to impress with ambience, service and value for money.Friendly helpful staff who are very efficient, they have to be because it is usually busy.For a reasonable set price you can order as many different dishes as you wish and ask for more if that is not sufficient.

Hoping for a better experience we returned to this restaurant for lunch because we were treating 3 of my wife's grandchildren and a father as they have a fixed price, all you can eat offering.Firstly, it's expensive at £18.90 for adults but, on the face of it, not bad at £8.50 for children 7 and under. Sadly, although towards desert no-one could eat any more, this was because it was so high in sugar and batter and much of it tasted like it had been re-fried/pre cooked. I couldn't even detect any meat in the deep fried dishes.With one exception service was bordering on surly and we were harassed to order and depart because the kitchen staff wanted to leave before the advertised and originally verbally confirmed somewhat already early last orders time of 2.30. I'm happy to spend £00's in Michelin starred restaurants but, at least in this area, Chinese restaurants have become uniformly and absurdly overpriced. My biggest gripe is that the food and service are also rubbish.

Been here a few times and always received good service and excellent food.We always go for the £18 "buffet" menu. Its not a buffet in the traditional sense (you dont have to leave your seat!!). You can choose anything off the menu, as many times as you like.We started with oysters in black bean sauce, satay chicken, squid, smoked chicken and ribs. We loved the oysters and squid so much, we ordered another portion!!Next to follow was the crispy duck. The only complaint we had was that the pancakes werent terribly hot but it didnt stop us wolfing it all down!This was followed by szcheuan prawns with chili and rice and then nicely rounded off with some toffee and apple banana fritters.We tried the house red and the house white and both were lovely.We literally rolled out of the restaurant that night!Never saw any rude waiters/waitresses and the place was packed. Some people seem to want to moan about anything.All in all, a great place, with great staff, nice atmosphere and the tastiest food I've had in a long time.Would definitely recommend and will no doubt be returning soon.

This Chinese restaurant is excellent value for money. The quality of the cuisine is second to none. I would recommend it to anyone likes quality Chinese food. We look forward to our next visit.

I first went to this establishment in 2006. Price was cheaper per head, food was in bigger portions, service was friendly and inviting, service charge was optional and at customer discretion. Forward a few years - rude, unfriendly staff, food was in tiny portions thrown at the table. They push for drinks constantly, they increased their prices (which you wouldn't mind had they not decreased portion size, and hired rude unfriendly staff). They now automatically add their service charge on your bill which is a cheek considering the lack of any good service. I gave it one more chance today before I diverted my custom elsewhere. I would rather pay double in Esher then give them my money.

The Emperor does all you can eat for £18 and cooks the food fresh so it is not like a buffet where you have to help yourself to food that may have been under the hot lights a little longer than you'd like. The food is consistently excellent and I've always found the service to be of a good standard. The only thing I'd point out is that the portion sizes of the main courses are a little on the small side but as you can order as much as you like this isn't really an issue. Fantastic.

Took my daughter for her birthday last friday ...food okay and plenty of it...fast service..But....when it came to a query on bill thats when the manager turned nasty ..we also overheard him moaning at another quest..not nice..The under 12 policy for half price is wrong..its actually under 7..we only found out when bill came.The board outside states under 12 so we paid FULL adult prices for a 9 year old..she only ate a bowl of noodles and 2 chicken pieces.Probably wont go bsck..but would recommend as food nice.

The food was fine for the price but the service was shocking. They are very rude, no manners or customer service skills. Made my experience very unpleasent. It is a real shame because there are no nice chinese restaurents round here

They are the most miserable waiters and waitresses who are very rude and unfriendly ! I would reccomend the food for the value but evening ruined by the horrible staff who don't even speak to you.

Great food and always freshly cooked. You can order from a vast menu and ask for more if you want more food.We have eaten here a few times and have never been dissapointed, really good value for money.Will definitely be going back again.

This is a great Chinese Restaurant - we used to go to their one in Sutton, Surrey - but its very busy and when they opened their new one in Hersham we started going there. The buffet (dont be mislead by the title - its not a buffet in the true sense, you dont walk up and down a long row of trays of good food) The menu is just like any normal restaurant - but for one set price you can order anything you want - as many times as you want - and the only things that are not on the "one price - all you can eat" menu is:Sea BassLobster ScallopsYou have to pay a little more for these -understandably. Seriously its one of the best Chinese restaruants around. The food is really - really good - I dont care how cheap something is - if the food isnt good - then what would be the point - but the menu is quite extensive and everything tastes so good.,I would recommend to everyone - its really worth a visit. Although if you are thinking of going on a Friday or Saturday night - I would advise you to book. My husband and I go virtually every Saturday - we love it - its good for couples, family and friends especially.The owners Gus and Jenny are a wonderful couple and have just had a baby - so it must be very hectic all round for them.

We went here a few nights ago. Never been before. Lovely food, really good quality.all freshly cooked. Gets busy so book. Adult price is £17.50 per head. £8.50 for children. Will definitely go back.

This is our local Chinese, as it's child friendly and good value for money with quality food. It's a buffet as you pay one price but it's order of the menu, which is so much better as all dishes are freshly cooked. It's nicer than the other Chinese around as you can try many dishes without paying extra, as long as you finish it of course or they can charge you for wasting food.

My nephew had heard of the place and we went along expecting alot. The service was awful, they kept forgetting our drinks, when calling them it would take 10mins to get to us and there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Food was not good at all - it tasted like the oil had been used far too many times! Though I am being too harsh, I did finish the crispy duck which I'd say was average but as I was starving... to ensure we had filled our tummies, we ordered 4 plated of chips between 3 of us to eat instead of all the food on our table.

We have eaten at the Emperor on several occasions and we have never been disappointed. They charge one price and you can eat as much as you like - but this is no ordinary eat as much as you like restaurant....You order the starters as you would normally do at a typical Chinese restaurant, and then if you want more you order more. After you have eaten your starters they come back and take your main course, and again if later you choose to have more you simply order. It is all highly civilised! This is a great restaurant to go with family and friends.
