Best service and delicious food!

We have been loyal customers of Good Earth in Esher for many years, but it has sadly lost its charm. Tonight’s takeaway was yet another disappointment, and the prices are simply outrageous!

Best Chinese outside China town ! Superfood ! And great staff 👍

The food is always excellent, as is the service. Rather expensive but still highly recommended.

The Good Earth in Esher has been run by the same team for over 20 years. You are always warmly greeted on entering the restaurant and it’s like having supper with family or friends. Food was excellent as always. All in all a 5 star experience.

40 years we have dined at this the best restaurant in Esher. It is not cheap but where is in 2024. The food, service and quality has been maintained at a high level throughout the period which is by no means easy.

The service here is always outstanding here. The food is mostly lovely but it is very pricey for what you get I feel. The 13% service charge is too high too

Lovely place and the food itself was delicious. However, one of the main dishes was forgotten and came out a long time after the others. Not much of an apology either from the staff for this.

I had a delivery from them. I ordered a rice dish which was advertised as rice with BBQ pork, prawns, chicken and veg. It was £11. When it arrived it had no pork, 3 prawns and some puny bits of shredded chicken in a standard sized punnet. It was disgraceful for £11. I was due to go into hospital so thought this would be a tasty and nutritious option. When I phoned to complain I was passed back to Deliveroo. I contacted deliveroo who quite rightly said it was not a delivery problem. Phoned the restaurant spoke to a manager this time who again tried to palm me off. Said he would sort it out from my order number. Nothing yet! Its a great shame. I remember years ago this restaurant was top notch and special treat to go to

We had a takeawa the other day. What a joke. The portion sizes are tiny considering you paying 3x more than anywhere else. The duck was so over cooked and dry. Spoke to my sister and they say they don’t go here no more as the standards dropped. Also we all felt Ill since eating here on Saturday.

Very very good experience for my partners birthday! Great food and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made a big fuss of our 3 year old which made it even more enjoyable watching her eat with chopsticks. On the pricey end for Chinese but the food quality backs up the prices. Would recommend and would definitely go back!

As always, enjoyed the good and reliable food (steamed seabass is our favourite!). And the nice and friendly service.

We visited for my daughter’s birthday. The whole dining experience was amazing. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food and atmosphere was fantastic. Three birthdays that evening! Would highly recommend.

The food and service were great although our experience was marred by a large group of men dining that were very loud we could barely hear ourselves speak. The restaurant should have put the group in a private room or away from other guests or at least asked them to quieten down.

The food was very poor quality and very overpriced!! The Egg fried rice …..well, where was the egg? Very dry and no taste, the beef dish was very poor quality beef, more like braised beef. Overall , it was extremely disappointing given the fact they charge the ‘earth’ !! Try Imperial China in Teddington , half the price and a million times better quality.

An excellent choice for our joint birthdays (3 generations). Outstanding food and service, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommend.

Clearly not the cheapest Chinese dining but definately one of the best

I found the chairs to be uncomfortable, the food we thought was not as we have experienced before, crispy duck very dry with little taste. The sizzling lamb had a strange taste, not like lamb as we know it, chicken chow mien lacked any seasoning that we could identify. Not our best visit, had high hopes before the meal.

I’ve been coming to the Good Earth regularly for almost 40 years. They have very high standards of food and service. While their bills may seem expensive mainly due to wine, when you analyse your visit, you’ll realise it’s good value.

WE ALWAYS HAVE A LOVELY MEAL HERE. THE RESTAURANT IS ALWAYS FULL. WE LOVE THE SEA BASS WHICH WAS DELICIOUS. ALSO HAD THE CRISPY DUCK WHICH WAS DELICIOUS AS WAS THE CHICKEN LETTUCE DISH. THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THE LAMB LETTUCE...VERY DRY AND UNINTERESTING.

Have eaten in the restaurant plenty. Made the mistake of ordering via Deliveroo. Result was the worst Chinese I have ever eaten at an extortionate price considering the horrendous quality. Not sure why but it would have been shockingly bad at one fifth the price paid. The Smoked chicken was inedible.

The restaurant is very traditional and no background music . Staff extremely attentive and high standard of service a cuisine . It is expensive I feel but the quality of cuisine was outstanding .

We had dinner at Good Earth in Esher last night and it was excellent as usual. The food is outstanding and the service is second to none, it is one of our favourite restaurants.

I visited this restaurant for my 30th birthday dinner based on recommendations from two friends, but unfortunately, my experience did not meet my expectations. The portion sizes were smaller than anticipated, which was unsatisfactory. While the beef stir-fry was enjoyable, it did not stand out as exceptional. We also ordered a chicken dish that was labeled as extra spicy, yet it lacked both heat and robust flavors, resulting in a disappointing meal overall. Perhaps my expectations were set too high. I felt the pricing did not correspond well to the quality of the food. On a positive note, the service and ambiance were quite pleasant, although I did notice the absence of music.

We celebrated our anniversary and had an amazing meal from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble and great advice came from the team. It was a very expensive meal but worth it.

The food was amazing, although at the end the team forgot to serve us tea and coffee, we waited for 20 minutes so we asked for out bill and went home

The success of this restaurant is the complete consistency in quality of product and service. The range of options go from pure Asian style to adjusted for less exotic tastes. The fact is was full house with multiple sittings on a Thursday night is testament to the reputation. Thanks to Eric and his team for another special meal.

We were excited to try Good Earth after many recommendations from friends. The service is excellent: friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. The food is really tasty, but we were a bit disappointed by the lack of spice. Even dishes that were billed as "very spicy" packed very little punch. Also, it's pretty pricey! I would definitely eat there again, but next time I will be sure to ask them not to hold back on the chilis.

Unfortunately at current have to give it two stars. My last two visits were disappointing, the food portions and food quality has gone down hill, yet they increase their prices. The food was on point before, but not worth the value for money at current, not sure if it has change of owners or chef...

The staff are very attentive and the service was good; I think it is over priced based on the quality of the food. I have eaten better quality Chinese food for a lot less. Not sure whether I would dine here again, but the family enjoyed the service.

we now go to the good earth for special treats birthdays etc as la orient has now closed the food is outstanding ..eric the manager is always friendly and never had a bad meal yet...it is expensive yes but its very very good food...if had a complaint iits not on the food its the rounded chairs im not overweight but i do find them tight...eric and his team do a great job...he always give us a good table...if you want a great meal i would go....ed ...linda...dylan newbrook

Having been regulars before we moved away from the area, we were excited to return to the Good Earth. Wow - what an experience - from the welcome, menu, food & drink, service, it was all first class. It was our anniversary & they made it a very special occasion.. Hats off to the Good Earth for setting & maintaining the standard! Thanks!!

As usual with Good Earth restaurants food is great! But but you are pushing prices to the point where I am saying sorry but no more!

Portion sizes are small for the mains for the price, and only just above average in terms of the quality, with nothing particularly exciting or lively in the food. It is a very comfortable setting, but the service really lets it down - being rushed to order food for a large table by two separate members of staff, 7 minutes after sitting down? There doesn't seem to be communication between staff, with several coming and asking the same questions immediately after one another througout the meal.

You just know that you can rely on a good meal at the Good Earth. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Somewhat surprised at the mixed variety of reviews. My wife and were there for my birthday and it was excellent. Service was impeccable and wine list very good with a range of wines and prices. We used to compare this with the Colony in Weybridge and Chu Chin Chow in West Byfleet but surely now the best Chinese in Surrey. Food spot on. The menu prices are high but portion sizes good. When we do Chinese we don’t like to miss out on our favourites so we tend to over order. Yesterday the total for two was high although not exceptionally so. Looking back if we had swapped two glasses of champagne for a second bottle of wine and upped the quarter duck to a half our meal would have stretched to four and would have been fantastic value. Don’t over order! In terms of special meals there is Sorrel, the French Table and the Good Earth. In Surrey I would look no further. Tuesday night and the place was heaving. Our local’fine dining’ pub is closed Monday Tuesday. Says it all.

We love visiting the Good Earth but it is really extremely expensive even though the quality of food is divine. If it were cheaper, we would visit this restaurant more often. We celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday and paid just over £300 for 3 set menus @£61.90 and a sweet and sour chicken dish and rice for my 9yr old and two apple juice, 2 bottled beers, 2 cocktails and 2 bottles of water. The set menu is 3 courses including coffee/tea. There are 4 starters, roast duck and 3 meat dishes with egg fried rice. It's such as shame it's so expensive as otherwise we would love to eat there every week. Service is excellent and attentive.

Table for 6 for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Service and food were excellent and even a candle in the toffee bananas and happy birthday sung. Couldn’t fault the evening - such a rarity these days. Highly recommend and won’t leave it so long to return again.

Have been considering going to the Good Earth for sometime and was particularly looking forward to something special than the usual Chinese cuisine. We opted for the set meal for two at £60.00 per head and unfortunately was underwhelmed for value and taste. The service was good but food average and very expensive for what we had.
