The restaurant is very lovely. There is a lot of staff and they’re very attentive. They have some nice touches which warrant this to be a 5* review, beyond the food. We went for the set menu dinner (minimum 2 people). The starters were brilliant, we subbed one of the items and it was no issue. The duck was great (I would’ve liked a little more plum sauce, but I didn’t ask and Im sure they’d give some more). The mains I feel were a bit of a let down, but it was more because they weren’t my top choice off all things on the menu - the veg plate didn’t really taste of much at all. What would’ve made this perfect is if there were a few more options on the set menu, even if they came at a supplement. Overall, a great meal.

It’s overly pricey for the portion sizes, making it not worth the cost. I’d recommend looking for a more affordable option, as the high price isn’t justified.

Ordered Kung Pao chicken and got sweet and sour chicken, I was told that is how they make Kung Pao chicken. Over priced most of the dishes taste the same. food is as any standard Chinese takeaway.

Dreadful service, waited 15 min for drinks order to be taken and service slow and clumsy all evening. Seated in entrance area - cold draft from front door and non stop foot traffic - impossible to enjoy a relaxing quiet evening. Two of the main courses served cold. A very expensive meal totally wasted and ruined by shocking service and poor quality food.

Visited with my in laws for an evening meal. It is a restaurant with high standards of service, with coats being taken and glasses regularly topped up. I was delighted with the separate vegetarian menu, which made life easier, and the fact that there were so many good dishes containing soya 'chicken'. I had the vegetarian spring rolls to start, which were served sizzling hot and were delicious, and the 'chicken' with cashew nuts as a main, which was superb! I will certainly look forward to trying other vegetarian dishes off the menu in future. My carnivore companions were also extremely happy with their various dishes.

What’s stands out in the Good Earth is the excellent service. I thought the food good, but not exceptional. For example my crab and sweetcorn soup I believe is made with artificial crab. The restaurant has excellent ambience. Reasonable value for money.

Excellent service. The food was amazing, fresh, and flavourful. We have been a couple times before, it’s now our go to special occasion restaurant. We order off the vegetarian menu, the options are really good. Highly recommend.

Haven’t been for a while and the food is generally still good but was a bit disappointed with grumpy service, noticeable smaller portions at Central London prices. Let’s hope they can up their game as it’s been a popular Esher eatery for years but it does need competition ……….

Always good food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere

The food was delicious as usual . The service was excellent. All in all great value for money as well. We will definitely come back again and again .

For an extremely small portion and the money charged, I think it’s way over priced and it’s definitely a once and for all for me. Wasabi prawns were over fried. The duck was not juicy at all. Service was very good and attentive. Place is very clean too.

Was excited to visit on Sunday which was our first time back since before Covid. Still as good as ever. Excellent food, service, ambience. Yes the prices have gone up a fair bit but I found it pretty good value for what we had. Wines are reasonably priced. Can't wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

The Good Earth in Esher has been run by the same team for over 20 years. You are always warmly greeted on entering the restaurant and it’s like having supper with family or friends. Food was excellent as always. All in all a 5 star experience.

40 years we have dined at this the best restaurant in Esher. It is not cheap but where is in 2024. The food, service and quality has been maintained at a high level throughout the period which is by no means easy.

The service here is always outstanding here. The food is mostly lovely but it is very pricey for what you get I feel. The 13% service charge is too high too

Lovely place and the food itself was delicious. However, one of the main dishes was forgotten and came out a long time after the others. Not much of an apology either from the staff for this.

I had a delivery from them. I ordered a rice dish which was advertised as rice with BBQ pork, prawns, chicken and veg. It was £11. When it arrived it had no pork, 3 prawns and some puny bits of shredded chicken in a standard sized punnet. It was disgraceful for £11. I was due to go into hospital so thought this would be a tasty and nutritious option. When I phoned to complain I was passed back to Deliveroo. I contacted deliveroo who quite rightly said it was not a delivery problem. Phoned the restaurant spoke to a manager this time who again tried to palm me off. Said he would sort it out from my order number. Nothing yet! Its a great shame. I remember years ago this restaurant was top notch and special treat to go to

We had a takeawa the other day. What a joke. The portion sizes are tiny considering you paying 3x more than anywhere else. The duck was so over cooked and dry. Spoke to my sister and they say they don’t go here no more as the standards dropped. Also we all felt Ill since eating here on Saturday.

Very very good experience for my partners birthday! Great food and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made a big fuss of our 3 year old which made it even more enjoyable watching her eat with chopsticks. On the pricey end for Chinese but the food quality backs up the prices. Would recommend and would definitely go back!

As always, enjoyed the good and reliable food (steamed seabass is our favourite!). And the nice and friendly service.

The food and service were great although our experience was marred by a large group of men dining that were very loud we could barely hear ourselves speak. The restaurant should have put the group in a private room or away from other guests or at least asked them to quieten down.

The food was very poor quality and very overpriced!! The Egg fried rice …..well, where was the egg? Very dry and no taste, the beef dish was very poor quality beef, more like braised beef. Overall , it was extremely disappointing given the fact they charge the ‘earth’ !! Try Imperial China in Teddington , half the price and a million times better quality.

Always excellent - probably the most consistent eating out experience we have - been dining there for 35 years plus

I found the chairs to be uncomfortable, the food we thought was not as we have experienced before, crispy duck very dry with little taste. The sizzling lamb had a strange taste, not like lamb as we know it, chicken chow mien lacked any seasoning that we could identify. Not our best visit, had high hopes before the meal.

I’ve been coming to the Good Earth regularly for almost 40 years. They have very high standards of food and service. While their bills may seem expensive mainly due to wine, when you analyse your visit, you’ll realise it’s good value.

WE ALWAYS HAVE A LOVELY MEAL HERE. THE RESTAURANT IS ALWAYS FULL. WE LOVE THE SEA BASS WHICH WAS DELICIOUS. ALSO HAD THE CRISPY DUCK WHICH WAS DELICIOUS AS WAS THE CHICKEN LETTUCE DISH. THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THE LAMB LETTUCE...VERY DRY AND UNINTERESTING.

The restaurant is very traditional and no background music . Staff extremely attentive and high standard of service a cuisine . It is expensive I feel but the quality of cuisine was outstanding .

Have eaten in the restaurant plenty. Made the mistake of ordering via Deliveroo. Result was the worst Chinese I have ever eaten at an extortionate price considering the horrendous quality. Not sure why but it would have been shockingly bad at one fifth the price paid. The Smoked chicken was inedible.

We had dinner at Good Earth in Esher last night and it was excellent as usual. The food is outstanding and the service is second to none, it is one of our favourite restaurants.

I visited this restaurant for my 30th birthday dinner based on recommendations from two friends, but unfortunately, my experience did not meet my expectations. The portion sizes were smaller than anticipated, which was unsatisfactory. While the beef stir-fry was enjoyable, it did not stand out as exceptional. We also ordered a chicken dish that was labeled as extra spicy, yet it lacked both heat and robust flavors, resulting in a disappointing meal overall. Perhaps my expectations were set too high. I felt the pricing did not correspond well to the quality of the food. On a positive note, the service and ambiance were quite pleasant, although I did notice the absence of music.

We celebrated our anniversary and had an amazing meal from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble and great advice came from the team. It was a very expensive meal but worth it.

The food was amazing, although at the end the team forgot to serve us tea and coffee, we waited for 20 minutes so we asked for out bill and went home

As usual the food, the service and the ambience were all excellent. Looking forward to the next time!
