We ate here twice in our week staying locally Once a take away and once to eat in An added bonus is the happy hour with cobra lager at £3.80 a pint between 5-7 The food is exceptional with your usual Indian staples and some not so usual items on a very interesting menu Would highly recommend 👍

3 off us had dinner. My partners sister had lamb shank which she said was nice. I had belly pork and to tell truth it was uneatable as the pork was nearly raw the so called potatoes were cold with no seasoning and the ju well less said only good part was crackling nothing like the picture. My partner had chicken kieve which was dry and over cooked and and as for the ceaser salad (apologise for next) but it was like something a dog had regurgitated not nice at all. I complained to waiter who spoke to chef who said 'give them %10 off. Thinking back I shouldn't have paid but as we were there for my partners sisters funeral I didn't want to put anymore stress on her so just left it. We were talking to some family members and they said the same thing but sadly they didn't complain so will be giving this place a wide berth next time. O yea 10 of us went to The Cross Foxes pub the following night which cost over £300 but well worth a visit

The wild cafe is lovely for kids with the music and scenery around etc and tv cwtch to keep them entertained, menu short for Lunch usual basic stuff- nice food tho and huge portions! Jacket potatoes always taste old tho as If they’ve been standing or reheated.. morning staff weren’t keen on offering a breakfast said if was closed but online it said until 10.30 maybe it hadn’t been updated online but the boys behind the bar just seemed like they couldn’t be asked so we left it, a nice woman tried to offer us a alternative but it had already put me off at the fact they couldn’t be asked

Used to come here about six times a year but unfortunately my husband can no longer drive. I have always moaned about the cost of parking and have previously suggested that you should be able offset the cost against food in the cafe,if that is the only reason for your visit ( less than an hour) Our daughter offered to take us for a ride so I suggested Brenig, knowing she wouldn`t want to leave her dog at home. It was very cold for early September- 14 degrees, dark and dismal. She went ahead to give her dog a quick walk and we met up outside the entrance to the cafe, then we noticed a sign saying no pets! Having read the other reviews, I now know that dogs are allowed on the terrace but you can only get there with your dog up some steep steps. Why isn`t there a sign on the door indicating this?? Anyway it would have been too cold on that day to sit on the terrace so we headed to Betws and had lunch there.

I was shocked that there were no disabled parking spaces and I had to drop my elderly disabled mother at the front entrance then drive a fair distance to the tennis courts car park to park my car. I am also disabled and have to use a walking mobility aid which was quite difficult as I had to walk on the main road to the venue to get back. There was no dropped kerb to allow me to use the very narrow inadequate footpath. Very very disappointed at the lack of disabled parking for such a large and well used venue.

Visited the Cross Inn with my brother for lunch. It was the second day of reopening and it showed with no hygiene rating. there was a wedding party in the lounge so had to eat in the bar which was no problem, the bar wasn't very clean the toilets didn't have any toilet roll. We ordered the Steak pie and mash with veg was told the gravy was extra. We got instant mash and side salad, my brother who as been a chef for 30 years asked about the veg and told them that the gravy was water and granules, he refused to pay the extra. The waitress said she would get some peas ordered but we refused as we would have eaten the rest before it arrived. The only thing nice was the pie loads of meat and enough gravy. We have eaten there a year ago with others of our family which prompted us to return. This as changed our minds.

If you are in the area, just DO NOT THINK OF STOPPING at the Forge. The prices are HIGH and the food is diabolical. The big “turn off” was when I arrived at 13.00 the approx. 80 seater restaurant was empty. Where on earth the chef came from does not contemplate thinking about Do yourself a favour PASS and save yourself a lot of money.

Lovely find, booked last minute as a stop off to a weekend away. The man behind the bar/reception was very friendly and so were the locals. Lovely relaxed atmosphere Dog friendly Rooms are clean and spacious We had food there in the evening, we did read some bad reviews about the food being “fast heated up frozen food” we didn’t feel if was like this and we enjoyed Continental breakfast the next morning was included and was lovely. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if we were every in the area
