Attended a wake at this lovely little pub on 17/2/25. The staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet was absolutely beautiful - gorgeous fresh sandwiches with a great selection of hot food. I was told to try their famous sausage rolls and boy they did not disappoint! Highly recommended..

Have been a few times here for lunch, this time I had scallops to start(fantastic), a salmon and hake wellington which was nice but needed more sauce, it was a little dry, followed by an espresso crème brûlée (lovely). The whole pub was very busy and a great vibe, plenty of happy people and noise that I like . The staff were also lovely and the main waitress was fab. If you’ve not been then try it, best to book.

Shame , had we been informed earlier about cash only , we would have spend more money on food and drinks . My phone was ringing while driving to the venue . A bit late then . On arrival we were told sorry we have just taken over so cash only ! I went across to Sainsburys to do a cash back only £30 allowed . Between us we had less then £50 . So good choose was limited and drinks. Dominic and the young lady were polite and helpful . No compensation offered a free drink or coffee for the inconvenience not a great start to opening a pub/restaurant !

Pre booked for a party of 11 people from 1pm to 2.30pm. Sent in pre order for food the day before so expecting to be served soon after arrival. By 1.40pm food still hadn’t arrived I asked a bar staff member how long we had to wait and she question if we had ordered, then followed by saying there was nothing on their system. When the 2nd bar staff member came over she also said nothing was in their system so I showed the email I had sent with the pre order on, to which I had also received a response confirming the order had been received. I questioned why nobody had come over to us to ask about our order to which the response was “staff do not come over you need to order at the bar.” Well how are we supposed to know that when we had pre ordered. Our order was taken and food was served quite promptly to be fair and all members of the party enjoyed. We were also given a free soft drink each however there should have been better communication as we had booked the table a month prior to the date.

Initially I was slightly sceptical about The Priory as there are mixed reviews and feedback from friends was 50/50. I reserved a table for 7 o'clock. I had two emails reminding me of the reservation and two phone calls regarding the same. We arrived around 6.55 and made our way to the restaurant. The Maitre D' Attila informed us that our table was not ready so we retired to the bar...not a good start. Roughly 7.10 we were called forward to our table. The restaurant is very easy on the eye after a refurbishment with pleasant background music. A la carte and chefs special menus were offered and we chose for myself Cod Roe...Belly Pork and a chocolate dessert...my partner Jan had Ham Croquettes....Rock Bream ....Lemon cake dessert. Both mains accompanied by home cooked chips and mange tout/ green bean vegetables. The food was excellent...Ben our waiter was very nice guy....knowledgeable and professional and provided all the answers to our menu queries. Two Estrella beers and a small white wine completed our meal. Overall it was a great experience......the one observation we had was that the mains did not come with the sides.....they were additional to the meal. Would we go back...yes we would probably to experience the Sunday Dinner which has had good reviews. Total cost...less the service charge...was £105.00 which we considered on par with the quality of food and service.

Absolutely appalled by my experience with The Celtic Manor Resort – Rafters. They took £40 from my account without authorization, and despite reaching out multiple times since Monday, I have been completely ignored. No apology, no explanation—just robotic, emotionless responses from staff who clearly don’t care about their customers. I had to cancel last minute due to a family emergency—a loved one in the hospital—and the lack of empathy from the team was shocking. I’ve been a loyal visitor for years, but after this disgraceful treatment, I will never return. A Christmas voucher I didn’t even purchase has somehow resulted in money being stolen from my account, and instead of addressing the issue, they’ve chosen to brush it aside. I will be taking this further to expose just how awful my experience has been. With my connections at Wales Online, I intend to ensure others are warned. Stay well away from this company.
