An excellent little cafe with lovely staff and a unique atmosphere. Perfect for a coffee stop or food!

Food great, reasonably priced. Staff friendly. Only downside was the only toilet was outside. It was cold and the door wouldn't close fully.

Visiting from USA. I like to eat where locals eat, and this place was wonderful. Small, hard to find parking, but the staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Coffee was good too!

Used to enjoy visiting here but it's very different since lockdown. More of a builders cafe now, nothing wrong with that but it's a bit rough and ready. Not so keen on the coffee now either, doesn't taste as fresh as it used to.

I would definitely recommend it.

Asked for some vinegar as none on tables, and it was only when I unscrewed the lid and went to sprinkle the vinegar that it became apparent there was no plastic sprinkler. My meal was swimming in vinegar and ruined, my clothes and boots soaked. I told the woman what had happened and she just looked at me and said as she shrugged 'that's just how the bottles are'. I then asked why she hadn't warned me?... because 'that's just how the bottles are' Then asked, how is a customer supposed to use the bottle without it's sprinkler?... because 'that's just how the bottles are' At no point did she offer any apology or show basic customer service. I stared at her, repeating that my meal was ruined until she finally offered to replace my food. She really didn't want to. I won't go back again.

Prices are low but that shows in the quality of the food. I wouldn't mind paying more to eat better sausage and bacon. The toast was burnt on one side and they didn't even try to scrape it off, they just turned the toast with the nice side up. Wasn't even busy so no excuse really.

Had the salmon and scrambled eggs on granary toast. The toast was not too crunchy and not too soft. Was so nice, I ate all the toast first! Will definitely revisit 👍🏿

Staying in Newport, popped in to this beautiful quirky cafe, lots of old memorabilia on the walls. Breakfast was amazing, eggs just perfect, lovely staff too.

I went in at 2:30 and people were sitting inside. As soon as I walked in I was told they are closed but their hours online at 8-4/5pm so it’s weird. Waste of time!

Lovely café with a magnificent English breakfasts and coffee, come here every few weeks.

A nice coffee and friendly staff! One small down side was needing to go outside and down some stairs to get to the loo.

A delightful little find, extremely friendly, very reasonably priced and a lovely light open aspect. Highly recommended if you’re after a relaxed bohemian breakfast, which my whole family really enjoyed.

That Cafe, is not your normal cafe, the art decor, is intriguing and jogs child hood memories, amazing, friendly approachable staff, family friendly and the food is fresh tasting, non greasy, just lush x

I often pop in, sometimes for coffee and toast, other times for a breakfast or a meal. The place is really interesting, the staff are lovely and friendly, and the food is always amazing. Its such great value - a real little gem - give it a try!

Stopped to do some work , decent WiFi available, but the latte and the Eggs royale I had were delicious. If your stuck in traffic on the M4 then this place is only a mile away and worth the trip

This Cafe is first class, comfortable welcoming and great food, i highly recommend the eggs Benedict no matter how hard i try i cant seem to order anything else.

We went to That Cafe for breakfast during our vacations in UK and it was incredible GOOD!!!!! we had an excellent taste of a real English Breakfast the girl who attended us was very kind and we love the place fully recommended.....

Driving on the M4, and in need of breakfast, we turned off at the Risca turning and stopped at the first cafe we could find, which was That Cafe. And it was very nice. We had a full English and eggs benedict, with earl grey tea and coffee. Everything was great, as well as the service, the ambience, and very reasonably priced. Next time we’re in Newport or Cardiff we know where to go.

Dropped in for a coffee one morning and was made to feel very welcome. Vintage style decor with interesting touches, we were treated to complimentary mince pies which were exceedingly delicious!! Well worth a visit

The girls met here for afternoon tea £10 per person table was set out lovely and the staff were welcoming every effort was made to make our afternoon tea special, the food was prepared well and looked delicious and very fresh with a good variety to choose from the girls were very attentive and polite well worth a visit. thanks harrianne

I visited this cafe/ eatery this morning with work colleagues and was really impressed. The service and food were second to none. I would really recommend it to others. The food was hot, fresh, well presented and overall a definite to visit again.

Yo estaba en la zona con mi padre a la hora de comer. Ambos pidieron bocadillos diferentes que venía con una ensalada maravillosa lado y caseros de col. La presentación era hermosa y hay un número de lugares más bien conocido en que debería visitar aquí para aprender cómo ofrecer comida al público. El servicio era excelente y muy amable y no podría recomendar que el Café lo suficiente. Los precios eran muy razonables. Definitivamente quiero volver y probar uno de los desayunos que incluye 2 huevos crudos cocidos con pan tostado de soldados- donde más se puede encontrar? La cena caliente, también se veía preciosa. Así que 10 de 10 para todo hoy en día. Fue tan buena que finalmente marca con Tripadvisor, así pude darles una revisión!

Lovely cafe, asked if we could have what we wanted in a sandwich and the owner was very accommodating. Had a delicious turkey, sausage and bacon sandwich. Very well priced and definitely worth a try, going to be a regular for me!

The Confit of Duck burger with Goats cheese and caramelised onions is probably the best thing I've tasted.You will not get a better breakfast menu for the reasonable prices asked.The Maitre d' or 'Lady out front' is the most friendly and polite host, and will bend over backwards to help.A real nice mixture of people and SUPERLATIVE food.

Very welcoming staff, That Cafe is perfect for a cuppa, big breakfast or hearty meal. I've been quite a few times now and there is always a busy, friendly atmosphere. I really like the attentive but not intrusive service, the 'loungey' feel to the cafe, excellent background music, as well as the interesting decor. The Burgers and Eggs Benedict were spot on and excellent value. I believe That Cafe has a licence to sell alcohol now so a glass of wine or a beer would be a great addition to the Duck Confit Burger.

Great coffee, great breakfast and very friendly staff. If your looking for good food, be it breakfast or lunch, I highly recommend this place. Family friendly and great value for money, will certainly be back.

Really grubby cafe. Great art but the place needs a good clean & better presentation. Had a breakfast with my partner. Only thing I enjoyed were the beans & mushrooms. Cups of tea were served in tea stained cups, my cup was 3/4 full & very milky while the other was a strong full cup of tea. Didn't seem like prime food is sourced to be cooked here. Overpriced for the quality, service & ambience. The younger staff were friendly but the other woman seemed like she wanted to be elsewhere. Go to a better cafe in town

We were traveling from Devon to Pembrokeshire and left early to avoid the traffic used this site for somewhere to have breakfast. It was very nice and reasonably price but awful to find and mobile number on this site is incorrect. Suggest owners update for us travellers

A warm and friendly welcome as soon as you walk in, with the service being equally friendly and efficient. Quirky and interesting decor all add to a relaxed and comfortable feel. Food is very good and not pricy, and they serve a good cup of coffee. Ideal for lunch - stew and chicken wrap sampled and both delicious. This cafe is a beauty! Lovely food, very reasonably priced, served by really friendly staff. The often quirky artwork on display (available for purchase) gives the place added character. I now often meet friends here, especially for the breakfast in the morning or for afternoon tea and cake.

Popped in for light lunch, impressed by the decor & would have loved to be able to afford the 'book covers' picture. Food was lovely & Berry smoothie delicious & presented in a funky way, will definitely be back, maybe for an all day breakfast

I often pop into this cafe, recently renamed Cafeteria. Staff are always so friendly and welcoming, good coffee and really good value meals. Individual, quirky surroundings, so much nicer than big chain cafes. Popular with locals and visitors, well worth a visit.

My self and my brother visited in the afternoon. We sat down asked if they take card they don't so had to take cash out at ATM, the food was pretty good with huge portions average price of food is about £5.50 I had BBQ chicken wrap which was very rich with loads of sauce and cheddar cheese big side salad seasoned chips . Coffee was average

Awesome food, the full breakfast is sheer quality, and great value. Likewise the 'best burger in town'! Unquestionably correct! I also love the arty decor, with constant tweaks to keep the place fresh! If you are from Newport you need to eat here!

Just popping in to have a meeting with a colleague. Very nicely decorated, good cakes and friendly staff. I'll be using it again as a meeting place and will try the food then.

Gave ourselves a treat today. Early appointment, followed by a really nice breakfast at That Cafe. Went for the smaller breakfast which was ample. Tea was in a mug and nice and hot. Toast was hot too which. Is always a bonus. We'll be back.

I go here fairly regularly, the breakfast are excellent, freshly cooked locally sourced ingredients. I haven't tried one of their burgers yet, they make them themselves, they look delicious. It's a very welcoming place, full of quirky local art as well....well worth a visit!
