I have been eating at Curros for the last 30 years.Always a warm welcome,great service and quality food. Chose as venue for my 70th Birthday and they didn't let me down. All the family enjoyed it and he had fabulous night.

We was a party of 7 People on a Saturday evening. All of our parties food was phenomenal! All of our starters were lush, the paella on our table looked outstanding, as did all our dishes. 2 jugs of Sangria were a hit with all of us also 🍹 Thank you so much Curros, we'll definitely be back 🙂

Held my surprise 40 th birthday here last night,20 guest and 3 children the staff were extremely helpful and polite, catered for the children’s needs, but best of all the food was fresh and amazing would highly recommend big thanks to Curro and all the staff xxx

We went here as a group of 11 on a works night out I have to say a lovely quaint little restaurant with fabulous owners who give a great service. Food was very good indeed, and I would 110% return again

Perfect example of good quality family run restaurant. I've been meaning to go there for many years. Finally did so and wish I'd done many years ago. Nice choice of fish and meats, good portions. Ofcourse way above "pub level" food, so a little more expensive. But I think it was well worth it. Most of all, I noted the nice, friendly atmosphere. Will be visiting Curro's more regularly in future and think it will be just as good!

Visited on a Saturday night for a birthday meal. The owner and staff were all very obliging. Great selection is of wines but could do with a bigger lager/beer choice. The food was excellent, the best cooked steak I have had in a restaurant in a very long time.Will definitely be returning

We went with friends for Sunday lunch. We had booked for the later time about 2.30 and when we got there the place was very busy. The service was slow especially at the bar. The food was ok but the beef was overcooked and the vegetables a bit sparse. I would definitely book again but for an earlier time. Curo was great, They need more Staff.

It has been many years since we last visited Curro’s but we were so pleased to go back this evening. Excellent food, amazing service and lovely atmosphere. Special mention for the Fillet Steak Rossini which was superb. A really great evening which we hope to repeat very soon. Thank you.

My first visit to this gem of a restaurant. It won't be my last. Went there for a family Sunday lunch - not really my favourite style of food but this was cooked to perfection. There was too much meat with a great range of vegetables and they happily split a meal on to two plates for the two youngsters with us. For a starter I had mozzarella and tomatoes with a great home made pesto sauce. As I am not a big fan of Sunday roasts I chose the chicken breast in a garlic sauce. The meat was succulent and cooked exactly as I would hope, but the garlic sauce won the day. The sauce was definitely garlic filled, a rich, creamy and silky delight. Curro came over for a chat and like all the staff he was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. We left as three delighted generations totally sated and smiling.

Ideal for lunch on a Sunday: typical British dishes, but also italian and Spanish ones. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the owner and waiters are very friendly. We had a great time there after visiting the Roman ruins. You may order economic menus with two or three dishes. The desserts are very good either.

Wonderful roast. Was very much like a home cooked roast. Plenty of meat, roast and boiled potatoes. Roasted parsnip. Vegetables were carrots and cabbage which was clearly prepared fresh and not from frozen. Table service, with silver service of the vegetables. £11.95 for 2 courses or £12.95 for 3.

We attended Sunday lunch with a bunch of chums on the 16th December. The joint was crowded as we expected. However to Curro's everlasting credit our table of ten were seated on time, all our food starters and mains were served dead in synch all fresh/hot.

This was my first visit & it was a very good experience!. There was a warm welcome from the owners,the meal was excellent, very decent size chicken portion freshly cooked, and the sauce excellent. It was so nice to have the vegetables served to each person rather than placed on the table as a help yourself. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Curro's restaurant in the village of Caerleon is a little gem that is owned and run by a lovely genuine couple.

Just had a really lovely sunday lunch at curros, over the last 6 weeks my wife and myself have had sunday lunch at the bear crickhowell , the priory and gate in Caerleon and without doubt the lunch we had at curros today was by far the best for quality and price.I had the roast beef and my wife had the chicken, this will be our restaurant of choice from now on for sunday lunch.

What a fabulous resturant this is ! Lived so close for many years but never visited. Meals are beautiful extremely tasty and very generous. Will definitely visit again.

I have visited this charming restaurant on numerous occasions. The owner (Curro) is a much loved figure in this village. He creates a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The food and service are both excellent.

Lovely warm welcome when we arrived, quick service and the food was just amazing. Some of the tastiest food we’ve had in a long time. Huge portions and we left stuffed and totally satisfied. Prices very reasonable. The prawns on my husbands starters were massive! The hosts and staff were chatty and nothing was too much trouble. It was our first visit but it definitely won’t be the last- it’s become one of our favourite places!

Another lovely lunch at Curros. You always get a very warm welcome from Curro and Juanita. Even though there were 10 of us today everyone was served their meals at the same time. The food was delicious with plenty of choice. I'm vegetarian and asked if I could have mushroom stroganoff, there was no problem and it was gorgeous. I would definitely recommend the Tiramisu for dessert.

Have visited Curro's fairly regularly over the years. This restaurant and food is a cut above the average. The quality of food is just amazing. Curro and his lovely daughter are so friendly and will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a lovely evening.

We went here on a Saturday evening,no problem getting a table.Welcomed by the owners.I had whitebait to start,wife had mixed platter of meats & cheeses.

This wonderful little restaurant packs a big punch. The food is excellent and you will be well looked after by Mr Curro and his delightful waitress. Nothing is too much trouble and I have been visiting the restaurant since 1977.

A super restaurant. The service was efficient and quick and the food was lovely. Whilst not a huge vegetarian choice it was beautifully cooked and presented with no skimping on portion size. Good value for money in a nice relaxed atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I wanted to grab some lunch somewhere where we could sit outside, and we didn't want a Sunday lunch. We asked if they would be able to do us some tapas, which they were more than happy to do. We were asked what we wanted and given plenty of choice. It was some of the best tapas we have ever had, and we were able to sit outside in a lovely garden in the sun. We were even given some bonus dishes. It was excellent food for amazing value. We will definitely be back.

Authentic little Spanish restaurant. Perfect for a family occasion and it’s situated in a pretty little village called Caerleon. Visited after a friend’s recommendation and so glad we did

We called in without booking, very welcoming owner and friendly staff who accommodated us to a table. Traditional food, large portions and all hot when served. Reasonably priced and good quality produce. Highly recommend the homemade desserts and steaks.

We had a warm welcome on arrival had drinks and picked our choice. The menu is small and traditional but the standard of the food was excellent and at £11.95 for three courses was excellent value. The service was very friendly and quick in a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of meat and everything well cooked. We'll be back

Booked a table for 15 for a family celebration 5 weeks in advance a surprise for my wife. What a great night Mr Curro greeted us and he and Benitas made our evening memorable. The food was served efficiently and was excellent drinks were ordered at the table and brought straight away. The portions of the meals were excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant was superb. All in all it was a great evening and the owner, Mr Curro, and his staff were first class would recommend Curros 100% it's easily the best in Caerleon.

This is a really charming Spanish restaurant. The owner and his staff are brilliant.. Food is really very good and great value for money. Good wine list too.. Give it a try you wont regret it..

Lovely family run restaurant Six of us went today for a family Sunday lunch food was fantastic , as usual the portions were very good and very tasty. The service was first class . Would highly recommend .

Just got back from Curros and id like to report that we had a lovely meal. Curro was away but his lovely other half took care of us and it was fantastic. We ordered paella and although it says on the menu that we would have to wait an hour we had some gorgeous tappas and the main came in about 40 mins. I didnt like the chicken in the paella, i would have preferred seafood but that was my GF's choice to order that option. We will deffo be back.I use a wheelchair phoned ahead to check the facilities. There is no loo but I know there is one across the road. There is a little step to get into the restaurant area but they offered to make me a table up at the top of the step if i needed it. I didnt as I was able to manage the little step with a bit of assistance. Lovely time, we will be back soon.

Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Visited here with a group of friends in July. Both owners are Spanish and the man is very sweet to talk to. Please dont make the mistake i made in asking the female owner if she speaks catalan when shes from a valencian speaking area - i got the impression i insulted her which was never my intention - lo siento! I was just trying to show off as i spent some years learning catalan. Food was nice, the salad tapas looked lovely and this restaurant is as authentic spanish as it can get for south wales. Would recommend !!

It's been a long time since I lived back in the area and as such a long time since I revisited curros. I took a friend of mine who lives in Spain 90% of the year and he said his meal was better than anything he had in Spain. Mine was amazing and so was everyone else's in the party of 13. The only complaint came from my daughter who said they had given her to much food. Without doubt it will become my regular restaurant. Another reason why you should always try something that's stood the test of time.

All eight of us had a traditional Sunday lunch, some had a starter and others had a dessert. The food, the service and all-round friendliness of the place made us all eat more than we otherwise would. Highly recommended.

Hidden in a side street Curro's is a family run restaurant that really hasn't changed in decades. It's dated but continues to have a strong following. Popular for groups or family gatherings. It is what it is but for me still has the best steaks in the area.

All 13 of us turned up after another nearby establishment had let us down for Sunday lunch. We were told it wasn't a problem but we'd be on two tables, not an issue, we were grateful they could accommodate us all. After ordering drinks and taking our food order we were seated. An excellent three course lunch followed, very friendly accommodating staff, superb food and after the initial turmoil we all agreed we'd had a lovely few hours out together. We will be back - thank you all.

We had a lovely table by the window, nice and quiet and undisturbed. Service was excellent as was our 3 course meal. Minestrone soup to start best I have tasted in a long time. Vegetarian main meal was beautiful and tasty and the roast dinners were gorgeous and really nice and hot. Tiramisu for dessert was lovely as well. Children's meals were very generous in size. Nothing was too much trouble.

Run by a couple with much expereince makes this an experience to treasure..frequented by stars of yesteryear and still as good as ever

My wife and I went for a meal on Valentines night and the restaurant was packed. Despite what must have been a busy night for the chef the food was of a very high standard. Curro was as attentive as always and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. This has been, and still is, an excellent place to eat.

Although we have been here for Christmas Day and Sunday lunch we haven't been on Saturday night for a long time .Meal & service did not disappoint we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and there was an excellent choice of specials too .

Curro's is a fixture of Caerleon and we have not ate there for some years. We revisited lately and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was wonderful. Eight of us all had different main dishes and everybody was impressed. My rack of lamb was succulent and a very good size. The meals with some having starters and desserts,lots to drink came to £35 a head.

Went for a family birthday (20 of us)and had prebooked the Tapas. 12 courses and it was beautiful.Staff very attentive and Curro was always on hand.Would highly recommend.

My friends and I went to the restaurant for some lunch. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, lunch was not available. However, the owner chatted with us while we had a drink. He did offer to make us some food which we thanked him for but refused as we didn’t want to put him out. We will return for a meal on a future occasion. Due to the owner's friendliness, a 5 star rating is very appropriate.

Recently visited restaurant and have to say I was quite disappointed. We haven't been for a number of years, but we were staying in a local hotel and didn't want to eat there for two nights so thought we would re-visit.For a Friday evening, the place was empty. Service was very good, nice selection of wines and plenty of specials on board along with normal menu. Food unfortunately was very mediocre. My pasta dish was very bland, had to send two of the tapas dishes back as cold, but have to say that they did change tapas and were very apologetic. Evening was pleasant but I don't think I would rush back very soon.

Visited Curros 16/10/16 for Sunday Lunch, there was a great atmosphere and the lunch was delicious. Highly recommended.

Ate @ Curro's last night little bit concerned by the negative reviews of last week, but they couldn't have been more wrong, the service, food & ambience were all first class. will definitely be back in the next few weeks.

We were given plenty of time to choose our food and wines we never felt rushed which can happen at restaurants these days. Mr and Mrs Curro were great and very welcoming and helpful. Our starters were lovely I had the spicy shrimp and my parter had the garlic mushrooms. For the main course we had the seafood paella it was so big we couldn't finish it. But we left a little room for desert and I had the sorbet which was a great way to finish the meal. The Sangria was really nice and surprisingly strong even though it didn't taste it.

Not sure if it was because they were catering for a large party on the same night we went there and couldn't cope but the food and service was very poor. Wouldn't go again.

Went out to celebrate a friend's birthday. Were kept waiting for about 50 minutes before we were seated. The starters were acceptable but the main course was awful. I had the vegetarian pasta with garlic and white wine sauce, but there was no garlic and white wine sauce. It was tasteless. Very bland. The spaghetti Bolognese that three friends ordered was a sauce (spot the meat). This was sent back and alternative dishes were ordered. They were just as awful as the first meal.One of the dishes was pasta in a white sauce that looked like water. Again it was spot the meat. The dish was very bland and tasteless. Another friend ordered well done steak. When she cut the steak, it was blood red. The garlic bread was thick bread you would normally have with soup. It was only lightly toasted on one side and covered in butter but couldn't taste any garlic. The underside was not toasted and it was just like eating bread. One of the young girls who served us wasn't friendly and looked miserable. They were not very apologetic and didn't explain why the food was awful. One friend didn't have a main course, as she returned both meals. We were not asked if we wanted desserts (not sure if we would have had, but nice to be asked.) Food and service shocking and would not recommend this place. One thing I would recommend is a new chef!!! Also had to put up with screaming baby.

Six of us went for a birthday celebration meal thinking this restaurant had good reviews. We were shocked at the time it took to take our food order, then the food!!! 3 meals were sent back and in fairness replaced quickly. However the quality of the food was shocking. The steak tasted burnt and was taken home to feed my friends dogs. The spag bolt lacked in meat. The carbonara was tasteless and so was the veg tagliatelle. However, the wine was good and the Manager did give us 2 bottles for free. So not all bad. Would we go back NO never!!!!!

We visited this charming restaurant on a Friday night having not been there before. I have to say the service and the food was excellent - we opted for the Tapas and sampled the tastiest chorizo we have ever eaten! The house white was of good quality. We will definitely be back!

Disappointing - found it difficult to cope with gluten free meal for a Coaeliac. The pasta dish described with Mediterranean vegetables looked like a packet of frozen mixed vegetables stirred into the pasta. The sauce had little flavour. Our seat faced the service area so the view was of the staff texting their friends!

Stayed in the Celtic Manor but didnt want to pay silly prices for dinner. Found this little place on trip advisor and was encouraged by lovely reviews. Originally booked for 7pm but rang owner around 5pm to postpone to 8pm, was absolutely fine about rearranging. There is a little car park for restaurant patrons so no parking issues. Enjoyed a gorgeous meal of chicken with chorizio in a tomato based sauce with saute potatoes. Him indoors had chicken and chorizio(copy cat!) tagliatelle. Rounded off the meal with a lovely home made lemon meringue for dessert. The hosts were delightful, very welcoming and chatty..not intrusive. Food was outstanding and reasonable prices. Would definitely re-visit and would highly recommend.

Was taken here on a recent visit to a relation. Quiet for a lunchtime, there were just the three of us. Welcome from the owner who is Spanish. We all chose the lunch time special. More than pleased with the way the food was cooked and served. Spoke to the owner at the end of the meal, He and his Wife have been running this establishment for a very long time. Will try and make a evening booking, when next in the area. Looks a very good venue for Dinner.

Found this little gem by looking at other reviews on tripadvisor, cant believe I've lived in Newport for over 20 years and never discovered it, I have had meals in many restaurants in Newport and surrounding area but none compare to the quality, quantity and overall welcome of Curro's. The owners are very hands on and very friendly, so are the staff.I saw other meals coming from the kitchen and they all looked as impressive as mine. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxing and it wont be long before my next visit...Go you wont be disappointed.

This place is brilliant. My friend stumbled accross it whilst staying at The Priorty, which is moments away. The food was exceptional, the team were so friendly and welcoming and it was lovely to sit outside in the sun. We had a selection of tapas including calamari, croquettes, patatas bravas and chorizo, all selected by the lovely gentleman who I assume is the owner. Couldn't recommend enough and will be back again

We booked Curro's for my mother's 75th birthday lunch.What a brilliant time we had.Food awesome and less than £14.00 for 3 courses.Recently went to the Glan-y-afon in Usk £29.00 for the same really!!!! Yes £29.00 per head.Honestly the food here is much better, and Curro is a fabulous host.Great afternoon had by all, we will be back all 18 of us.Don't forget there is a great beer garden at the rear which is a real sun trap,just the place to sit with a cold beer in the sunshine.

Visited for the first time last night food & service absolutely first class. Lovely building felt like we were eating in Spain. So good have booked to go back next Saturday.

Curros has always been a special place to go- usually a special birthday or other occasion with the family. I feel like I've been invited to Mr Curros home, he can't do enough to serve. Mr Curro and his team go out of their way to make sure we enjoy our meal and our experience is the best it can be. Curros menu is defined by its simplicity- spag bol. Carbonara, steak, stroganoff. This time I had the mushroom starter, steak and lemon meringue. It was lovely, service was exceptional and at great value. Four adults, two children including wine and three courses each came to less than £150.

Five of us went for Sunday lunch on Fathers Day usual cost no premium charged £11.95 for 3 courses which is extremely good value. The restaurant was very busy but the service was very good. The food was excellent and all was piping hot. Curro and Juanita were as usual first rate hosts. See you again soon

This restaurant is Caerleon and Newport`s best kept secret. It is cosy and intimate with a relaxing ambience. The cuisine is good quality and varied and the portions adequate. The staff are friendly and Curro and his wife are the perfect host. Curro has been in the restaurant business for over forty years and the professional standard of this restaurant confirms this. Give it a try.

A very nice restaurant. The food is excellent. You can have tapas dishes which are generously portioned and the staff are friendly. There is a variety of food on offer.

Staying in Caerleon and unable to get atable at the Stuffed Dormouse we headed into town to find somewhere to eat. Fist couple of places had stopped serving - it was very late ABOUT 830pm!!! then we found Curro's. We were advised we would have to wait 1/2 an hour - in the end only 20 minutes or so and boy was it worth the wait.We all opted just for a main course - £72 for 6 of us in the end and the meals were excellent. We had a couple of chicken dishes, 3 spaghetti carbonara and a sea bass with spudds and veg as appropriate. Plenty of bread and chilled water but the bonus was the free bottle of wine we got. Dont know if this was a regular thing but it was certainly appreciated by the 6 of us. Nice touch at the end was the personal goodnight and a handshake from the owner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We had Sunday lunch here last week. Curro and his wife are so welcoming and the food was good. Lovely starters and generous portions of meat with fresh veg and tasty gravy. Nice to eat at a small restaurant which is not part of a chain. Will return on a week day to try something Spanish too.

We were a party of 9 (8 adults 1 child) We found the owners to be very helpful and attentive without being overly so. The food was excellent and our order was varied.All plates were returned empty (apart from the Paella which was huge and beat both good eaters) and were so filling that when it came to deserts these were shared as people were too full. Well done Curros Thank you !!

Just visited this restaurant after a visit to Carleon. My husband and I were after a roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We chose prawn starter for him and calamari for myself. We also had some olives and sangria as the dulcet tones of Spanish music playing in the background put us in the mood. We both had roast lamb, both very impressed with the lovely food not to mention the personal service by the owners. We live 3 1/2 hours away but given the chance we would return again!! Cannot faulter the speed of the service and quality of the food.

We have been visiting this restaurant on regular occasions over the last few years, we have never been disappointed. We have taken family on many occasions too and we have always been looked after very well. Excellent food, Excellent Wines, Excellent service and Curro & Jauni are excellent hosts. Would highly recommend!

Came for a meal saturday after valentines weekend. The service was ok nothing to complain about also nothing spectacular.. the food was extremely dissapointing. Very overly salty sautéed potatoes. Very rubbery and flavourless chicken dish with hardly any sauce. My partner had the pan fried sea bass... this was very greasy.. bit of a shame

We visited for christmas dinner and we weren't disappointed . As a family who usually stay in we decided to make Christmas easier and head out. But with the atmosphere Curro makes it felt very home from home. The service was amazing with this family run restaurant, the food excellent and the atmosphere lovely.

The remit from our guest was "it has to be a good steak". So we aimed for an old restaurant called Curros and we weren't disappointed!We all had different starters, worth a mention was the chorizo sausage in a dark sherry sauce and the prawns in garlic. The main courses were fabulous, the fillet steak was perfect and the way chef butterflied the steak was fabulous.A bit old fashioned but the food is excellent, a hidden gem in caerleon in the shadow of the priory!

Called in whilst walking by on a cold Saturday evening. ( On our way to somewhere else! ) Having given this a mediocre review back in the summer. ( It was a funeral wake which was an outside event ) This time Monsieur welcomed us without booking, and I have to say was excellent. Service was excellent, food plentiful & hot, served with a smile, choice was moderately restricted but as the place filled up as time went by, the popularity speaks for itself. Could not eat anything else!!

We had our Christmas party at Curro's and once again Curro and the team gave us a brilliant night. All 8 of us enjoyed our meals, personally I had Chorizo Infierno followed by fillet Diablo, perfect. If you go make sure you have a fillet steak, everyone's was cooked exactly as a ordered. The service was excellent too. We've already booked for next year.

Once again we had a lovely meal here. Yes a little old fashioned but very friendly and excellent food. We had our 14 week old daughter with us in the evening which in some restaurants I have been to I have felt this to be a problem. However at Curros we felt very welcome.

It was years ago that we last visited this restaurant, and we thought we would see what it was now like. With a few provisos, we enjoyed the experience and service was good. I had the wonderful, if rather uninspiringly named 'king prawns garlic'- this really was a delicious dish, but I did not like the fact at all, that waitresses brought dishes of veg- gorgeous saute potatoes, rather boring broccoli and peas- and then served it , rather than leaving the dishes for us to serve ourselves. At one point, one of the waitresses was about to take a dish with just 2 small potatoes in it, back to the kitchen. My friend stopped her and asked for them to be put on his plate!My friends both enjoyed their meals- a chicken and a lamb dish respectively but my husband was disappointed with his pasta dish- a creamy chicken and spaghetti, describing it as bland. All the food was piping hot.At the end of the evening, the chef came out to chat- a nice gesture, though he didn't seem very happy with my husband's comments about the pasta!!Overall we enjoyed the experience, but the restaurant looks in need of a revamp. It has a certain charm and was very busy, but it could certainly improve in some areas.

Like a previous reviewer has said the atmosphere and the staff are lovely and very helpful but the food is not to the standard expected from a restaurant charging these prices. Four of us ate here. Between us we ordered garlic bread, fish cake and brie parcels for starters. The garlic breads were returned twice due to still being frozen in the centre, the fish cake looked and tasted as thou it came from a fish and chip shop (no way homemade and not very pleasant) and the brie parcels were just ok. Then came the main course. The two steaks were nice, the salmon was over done and the veggie meal was also not very good. The side veg were all over cooked and looked as thou they had been hanging around all night. In all fairness the the staff they removed the garlic breads off the bill and gave us a complementary drink. The bill came to £110 and it is fair to say that we did not have value for money as it was a poor standard of food for the price. As nice as the staff are we will not be returning.

Went on a Saturday night with family. The fillet steak was fantastic, atmosphere was great and the service exceptional. A great, warm restaurant and even better it isn't a chain!

Went on a Thursday night (after booking ) . Great atmosphere and service and owner could not be nicer but the chef cannot cook steak . Asked for MEDIUM and I had to send it back as it was closer to medium rare . Start of entremeses was different to advertised on menu . My wife asked for more sauté potatoes and the response was "we have run out ". I am surprised as this is pricey for the area and apparently lots of famous people have been here . Nothing was deducted from the bill . I will not be returning and urge others to show caution going to a restaurant where s steak isn't cooked correctly .
