The best restaurants serving British food in Newport South Wales

Ordered an afternoon high tea and a savoury yesterday, the food was lovely plenty of filling in the sandwiches, I phoned to say something was missing from the high tea and in no time it was reckifed , but not just one item they sent more. First class service as always, have ordered Sunday roast dinners for tomorrow which in sure will be excellent thanks royal mail

First visit today to Lily’s hideaway and it did not disappoint. We had the savoury and sweet afternoon tea which was amazing and very generous. The staff were fabulous, very welcoming and attentive. The garden area was lovely and there was plenty of shade. Would definitely recommend

Tasted as good as it looked and it looked wonderful. Very friendly and helpful service. My mother was delighted with it.

This is the cleanest “burger van” I have ever visited! Great mix of rolls, sandwiches etc. If you’re local you really should try it for a bacon roll.

Went in the other day to check this place out and try new food as an autistic i ended up takeing the food home to eat it and its great im gonna say as good as the vibe loved the reccord section at the back the fact theres a quiet bit so if its busy at the front theres a quiet record bit at the back its brilliant and i didnt apreciate the colour yellow till i stepped in this place oddly enough 😀

Delivery was fast, food was ok. I’ve order the Chicken Mayo Jacket potato previously and enjoyed it, but this time it wasn’t the same. The chicken was thick chunks with barely any mayo, and the food let off a sweaty/damp towel smell (only way I can describe it) The breakfast baguette and chips were good, so no complaints there. I’d definitely order again, but definitely not the Chicken Mayo Jacket potato.

Changed names to ‘Dolce Vita’ now and the place has been refurbished, looks really good. Found the food quite bland, didn’t seem to use any seasoning? Everyone thought the same at the dinner table.

This is my favourite countryside pub, which stands in idyllic surroundings right next door to a lovely country church and community centre. I have lost count of the number of years I have visited this pub, and the number of owners I have known there. It is delightful on sunny days to sit outside with a drink and a great lunch and experience a true taste of a relaxed country pub. Highly recommended, if you have not visited, give it a try.

I am never ever disappointed by the food and service at tge Y Maerun! This is a place that you simply must not miss going to. Leighton is a charmer. The bar tenders and other staff are professional and always on the ball. The food is out of this world, and we especially love the Specials board - gives you something to look forward to your next visit. If you can call and reserve the sofas in front of the fire, I'd recommend it. Pub quiz on a Wednesday from 8pm!! Get there soon, it's a barrel of laughs 😃
