Had a really love lunch here. Good selection of delicious food in a relaxing and quirky environment.

Had lunch here with a friend recently.The service was good and the food was lovely.I am vegetarian and opted for the panini with ricotta and roasted aubergine.The portion was a good size and included coleslaw and crisps.Delicious and fresh.Great coffee too.Will definately return soon.

We popped in today (Saturday morning) for a family breakfast of four to celebrate a birthday. All but one reserved table was full and we asked if there was any chance we could be seated. Despite how busy the restaurant was, and with some quick planning from the servers, they managed to make it work and squeeze us in! We are usually very fussy eaters with contrasting pallets but we all quickly chose a meal we wanted and there was no shortage of choice. With myself being vegetarian, I really appreciated my choices being catered for - a rare luxury now that the majority of restaurants, when offering meat-free options, only cater for vegan, and have a tendency to forget us veggies still enjoy our cheese and eggs! All meals were beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. It is evident that a lot of pride goes into sourcing good quality produce. Despite four totally different dishes, all of them arrived at the same time. We were especially impressed with the extra large cooked breakfast. Not a single scratch was left uneaten. I can’t wait to treat my family to our next breakfast. :)

Went for the first time today for brunch. Team were great with their gluten free knowledge of what items needed to be swapped out to make none GF choices GF, which was hugely appreciated. Coffee, food and service all great. Will definitely be back.

Called in on the fly Saturday lunch time. Had the Spezzatino di manzo off the special board and wife had the lamb equivalent, both outstanding. One of those meals where your still patting your tummy in satisfaction hours later.

I recently visited The Snug for their Pizza night with the family. I have a lot of allergies and was quite worried about the visit as I’ve had restaurants refuse to serve me because of my allergies. The owners of the Snug were very accommodating and made me my own allergy free pizza. I have not had a pizza for 3 years (when my allergies developed) and I must say that being able to have an allergy free pizza, and it being freshly cooked in their massive pizza oven, was an absolute delight for me- and it tasted AMAZING. The evening was very pleasant over all and the service was great, and I am very pleased that The Snug were able to accommodate me. I highly recommend a visit!!

A very nice restaurant in the back streets of the old Roman fort town of Caerleon. We called in for a Sunday breakfast I had a medium English and wife had her usual vegetarian breakfast Both were served quickly and well presented. Price’s included toast and fruit juice. Good choice of non traditional breakfast as well

Absolutely gorgeous breakfast as always, by far the best in Caerleon/Newport. Met up with ex work colleagues who also love it. Very good prices, cooked to perfection along with friendly, efficient waiter/waitresses.

The women who owns the restaurant put me right off from going again. Honestly, she should not be doing that role. Unfriendly and arrogant. Created a horrible atmosphere. Food was good. Snug aka very small.

Lives up to its reputation. Went with a large cooked breakfast. The food was fresh and hot. Atmosphere is cosy but fairly busy. Had a great selection of freshly baked cakes too. I ordered a carrot cake with pistachio to take away. Will definitely visit again. 😊

I went here for lunch with my friend today and the food was the best I have had whilst eating out in over 2 years. It’s a hidden gem and I can’t wait to return. I’m from Bristol and met a friend who lives in Cardiff so good halfway point. I had calamari to start, beetroot ravioli for main and the most delicious chocolate and orange fudge cake for pudding. Thank you!

Exceptional atmosphere, friendly enviroment & great service from staff to meet with family or friends. Pre-booked our table & was greeted with a warm festive glow, spacious yet cosy comfy seating & vibe. Staff were so patient & attentive could not do enought to create the perfect combination meal even with special dietary reqirements. Food was delicious. Great location. Exellent hospitality. Highly recommended.

Sandro is the perfect chef, he cooks from his heart and his food is soooo good. His specials board is where you get to taste proper hearty, tasty Italian food. His Ragu takes 6 hours to slow cook and is sensational. His Sunday lunch is the best I’ve ever had outside of my own home.

This is a fabulous cafe for breakfast or lunch. Nice atmosphere and excellent selection of food that is superbly cooked and presented. We are return customers and will continue to be so.

Great breakfast, even tried the hot sauce they sell only small issue was we had booked, and you need to on a weekend, turned up and they had no record of it, they did seat us however

Such a lovely lunch for all of us as a family. The chicken burger in particular was fantastic, the boys loved it. The restaurant is tugged away in a cute little alley with other independent shops and a sculpture museum.

Wanted a proper meal, similar to home cooked food.. The Snug surpassed my expectations, good specials board and excellent value. I have been going back to Caerleon since 1986 and this was the best value quality food I have had in the village since then. Roast Pork excellent, Lamb Chops excellent, vegetables really good. Service very friendly and not intrusive. Thanks to the people who reserved a table and did not turn up. Shame on you. We took your place and had a great meal.

The Snug is always good to go to, always busy and always friendly, serving up classic fare at reasonable prices. The cake selection is notable too. There is seating inside and out, the pretty courtyard being preferable when the weather is good as it gets noisy indoors at times due to the reflective walls and floors. However, it's not enough to keep me away and I know you'll like it there too.

There was a table down from us , they were extremely noisy. Food was OK choice limited.

Phenomenal. We had one of the meal packages that requires a minimum of 10 people. The starters were traditional and amazing, the bottomless pizza was just pure quality and plentiful to the point we even took 4 pizzas home and were told there was more there if we wanted😳. The best pizza around and drinks plentiful. As for the staff and atmosphere it was amazing, a family run business that promotes a family friendly environment to enjoy. Thank you so much for a cracking evening.

Came for breakfast on a Sunday, luckily there were some spare tables as we didn’t reserve a place, the food was delicious I had the extra large cooked breakfast and my partner had the black truffle Benedict, the staff were friendly and an all round great experience, next time we come to see wales play rugby we will certainly be back

Absolutely amazing cooked breakfast , thick sausages thick bacon small hash browns tomatoes mushrooms runny egg black pudding and a thick slice of sourdough toast . Flat white coffee . Stunning fresh food . My pregnant daughter asked for things to be substituted as she can’t stomach certain foods nothing was too much trouble waitresses and waiter accommodated without a fuss . This is friendly cozy little place and would highly recommend anyone to go and try it not just for breakfast they obviously do other meals plus they have a new pizza oven . Everything is freshly made .. can’t wait to come back thank you for a very enjoyable time

My bestie treated me to breakfast so it may appear to be somewhat disingenuous to comment but will not return! Poor baguette a razor thin slice of smoked salmon, no apparent cottage cheese but a cucumber mayonnaise salsa ? Awful warm coffee, sticky table - was going to speak with the owner but he had mysteriously vanished! Perhaps he knew?

Popped along Saturday afternoon for a coffee and cake with a friend, and wow! What a beautiful little place, you can honestly blink and miss the entrance as it's so small, but wow what a shock when you go in! It's an absolute gem of a place. We opted to have a slice of sponge cake each and coffee - the cake was absolutely gorgeous. The coffee was so fresh tasting too. We browsed the menu, but as we'd already eaten we didn't take up the offers of food. But from what we saw coming from the kitchen and what was advertised on the menu, we'll definitely be back for some dinner! The staff all seemed to be extremely friendly and helpful too, didn't have too much of a conversation with them but the young girls who served us were friendly and polite enough.

What a great place! Clean, comfy, well-organised and relaxed. I tried the £20 two-course lunch yesterday, and it was excellent value. Very good quality food and generous portions. Delicious!

Visited with a friend and my twins last week for breakfast. Staff were very accommodating and food was absolutely beautiful. Tasted beautiful and just the right portion size.

I’ve been coming here for many years. I come for breakfast or lunch. The food is always excellent. The service is great and the price is good value for money. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants an enjoyable meal in very pleasant surroundings!

Absolutely gobsmacked over the attitude of the owner after I complained about the awful meal I received. All they want is your money & profit! If you enjoy getting ripped off then this place is for you. Had to go to bank to get dispute opened to get money back. Idiots.

Lovely place. Cosied away from the street, it's a charming little spot. The staff are very friendly and the food there was absolutely perfect - runny eggs and amazing bacon. The little outside garden is dog friendly, which means it had everything we needed for a lovely Sunday breakfast.

Good pizza, enjoyed it for dinner. But they wouldn’t do a take out on Sunday lunch. Despite being there before 12 and it being quiet.

Loved it. We were staying locally and recommended the weekend pizza night. It didn't disappoint! We didn't have a reservation and they were fully booked (6pm Saturday night) but were offered a table outside on the deck. Considering the stunning weather we've had this summer, we were more than happy to be outside amid the sculptures and frescos. Staff were incredibly obliging and friendly and we felt very well taken care of. We had arancini balls and a couple of pizzas (one each) and they were excellent. Despite The Snug being a cosy little place tucked out of the way in a small village, the pizzas (from their impressive pizza oven) were up there with the best I've had. The pizza toppings on point and, most importantly, the bases were super tasty and delightfully chewy. Food and staff: 10/10. Heartily recommended and ready to drop in again soon.

The Snug has it all, fab breakfast, lunches, wood fired Pizzas on a Friday and Saturday evening and the best Sunday lunch …. EVER. I love a home cooked Sunday lunch, The Snug is the only place, apart from my home, where I can honestly say I would eat every week. Sandro obviously buys the best quality meat and it shows, it’s delicious. The pork with crispy crackling is to die for. Service is excellent and the homemade Tiramisu according to my husband is the best.

Amazing location. Great food and coffee. They also take cash. Gave a £20 note for a £14.30 bill and the waitress looked me straight in the eye and asked me if I wanted change! As if the norm is a £6 tip on a £14 bill.

Snuck in for an early pizza Friday night - but you really need to book. Not surprising, it's brilliant. Friendly, great food and value; in a small and interesting side alley off the high street (originally stables, I guess for the priory). If we are ever in Caerleon we'll try and get there. Read the opening times carefully; eg pizza is only Fri and Sat eve I think.

Delicious food and great service, this restaurant is a little gem and great value for the quality of food you get. I will definitely go back. I had welsh lamb, and by the time I finished eating they had sold out, I love fresh locally sourced and well cooked produce! The tempura prawn and squid snd vegetable starter was also delightful! Shame I could not fit in dessert.

Called in for breakfast. It was lovely. They managed to squeeze us in even though they were fully booked. You definitely need to book. As we got there at opening time.

Met with close friends on Friday, 27th January 2023 at The Snug for lunch. On entering, you could immediately feel the warm welcoming atmosphere and all present within enjoying their experience. The choice of food was wide and varied and above all, of excellent quality. The service throughout was second to none and both the owners and staff couldn't have done any more to ensure that our visit was a most satisfactory one. On a monthly basis we meet as a wider group of friends and will now place The Snug Restaurant at The Ffwrwm on the agenda for a future visitation. Jacqui and Mal

I took a friend to the snug for Sunday lunch. We chose the lamb which was cooked to perfection. We always have a lovely selection of vegetables which makes it even better. With so many restaurants increasing the pricing it was nice to see that with all the rising costs Lunch had only gone up £1. It was great value for money. I have been eating there for years and I’m still impressed at the quality and service.

First time going there for a long time, but will return soon. Great place, but no parking and had to walk for 5mins.

Came for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. As ever it didn’t disappoint. Freshly cooked - wide choice of breakfast and it was delicious. Staff were amazing. 5 * for service we received Courteous - friendly nothing was too much. Cannot recommend enough.

Been a fair few times now… the food is exceptional! Tonight we had calzone and pizza and it’s the most authentic Italian pizza you’ll get. Staff are friendly and the prices are great! It’s great to see the pizza oven in full action whilst diving into your own. 10/10

Great lunchtime experience. Apparently, we were told, it's even more fantastic in the evening. We had the lunchtime stack with the recommended cocktail and this is a good first visit option. Next time we will pick from the comprehensive a la carte menu. Can't wait to go back.

Very expensive £12 for a pork baguette the meat was served in the baguette with the crackling left on the meat, I love crackling don’t get me wrong but made the baguette hard eat. It was also very bland and lacked seasoning on the meat....

Lovely little find on a wee stroll round the town. Tucked away in an arcade, it's quaint but also hipster in feel. Lovely decor, fab friendly service and great range of food and drink. I really liked it, and seems popular with the locals too. I will return next time I'm in town.

Lovely find when visiting Caerleon, we stopped for lunch and it was perfect. Great atmosphere and quirky decor, really cosy and obviously popular with locals, a great sign in itself.

Beautiful breakfast here last week. Really good veggie / vegan options and meaty options too. A little pricey at first glance but excellent value as the food is amazing and there’s lots of it. We will return!

Only stopped got coffee and cakes with my elderly parents. It was so friendly and we sat outside which was perfect for my father who doesn’t like too much noise. Will be coming back to try the food which looked delicious.

The vegan breakfast, normally excellent at £8, has gone up to £9 and the ingredients are somewhat worse. Probably to be expected in these troubled times, but still I shall have a think over where to ear in Caerleon after one of my lovely riverside...

Excellent friendly cafe hidden away in a courtyard, worth seeking out. Usual cafe fare, light lunches, pizzas etc.

Served Luke warm coffee and warm orange juice. Quality of food quite good although lacking any real flavour. Eggs were served hard and service very poor considering how many staff they had.

Seriously good food, whether you come for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just coffee and cake, everything is beautiful quality and exceptionally well cooked and presented. Be nice to have some more of the ‘comfy’ sink in leather chairs though guys, just for feedback.

The snug is one of our favourite places to go in Caerleon. We go regularly for lunch (the panini's are amazing!) and their pizza nights. A great range of pizza toppings (including no cheese) and different starters. All very authentic. The staff are always so friendly. Brilliant restaurant.
