I was in Newport for a couple of days and popped in here for breakfast. When I saw the breakfasts some of the other customers were having I found it hard to resist. However as I had a long train journey ahead of me, I settled for a bacon and egg roll and a cup of coffee. The roll was huge but like the Celtic fighter I am, I managed to finish it. The whole place was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. When I come to Newport again to visit the Welsh side of my family, I will come back.

Local greasy spoon to the office. We've eaten here a number of times and semi-regularly order breakfast. Good food, very tasty. Only complaint could be sometimes service is a bit slow. Other than that, you will get exactly what you expect from a greasy spoon.

If there was one reason to live in Newport (and there are loads - honestly!) then when it comes to setting yourself up for the day then this is it! Excellent value for money, service and above all food! They know that the core of any good breakfast are the sausages and they only use the best! Most places like this try to palm you off with cheaper alternatives but never the "Busy Kitchen"! They know their breakfasts! Anything you you want pretty much cooked perfectly and in a jiffy. They even have a local delivery service towards the end of the week! Beware! The only problem with eating here is that you'll never want a breakfast anywhere else as you'll be thoroughly spoilt! Yes, slightly off the beaten track so be thankful you've read this review! Cosy, not too big but always seem to find a seat despite turning up at busy times. go once and you'll be hooked! Apologies - I call it a greasy spoon but its not greasy at all - they are very sparse with the cooking oils. Lastly, to those I can see that haven't had a good meal there (Ieuen B) that must have been when the previous owners had some issues just before it was sold on. You will NEVER have a bad meal now!

I noticed the Yellow signs while driving down Church Road in Newport that this cafe is under new management otherwise I probably wouldn't have seen it on the way passed but I'm glad I did spot it. This cafe might look small from outside but the standards you get from inside are huge. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a friendly smile and the whole place was spotless. All the staff there are incredibly easy to talk too and although I went in on my own for the first time it felt as if I had known them for years. The most amazing part of my visit though was the breakfast that I ordered, I love my breakfasts but this one was totally amazing and more than big enough for anyone. Don't take my word for it though - Go try it for yourself cause I know I will be back in there the next time I'm in Newport.

My husband and I went to the Busy Kitchen after being recommended to try their breakfast. I've discovered what doesn't look like much when written on a menu translates to a huge tasty plateful. All cooked to our taste, especially liked the fried egg. Must find out where we can get some - we always buy extra large free range eggs, but these seemed even bigger! We both enjoyed our drinks, latte for hubby, strong tea for me. Mmm, writing this has made me fancy another brekkie very soon.

I would classify this place as one of the "Best Kept Secret" eateries there is! For myself and my family there is nothing better than tucking into one of these first thing in the morning (or afternoon if you had to put up with just toast or cereal earlier)! I an always hunting down such places for my breakfasts where-ever I go in the world and to find this one virtually on my doorstep I still find hard to believe and don't take for granted. Various options always available but whatever you choose you are always assured that no corners have been cut and you get what you desire. A MASSIVE plate full of mushrooms (ask for them to be fried in bacon fat), bacon, free-range local eggs, toast, fried bread, tomatoes (plum or fresh), beans, black pud and great sausages (not pretentious, full of pepper or whatever types) and potatoes (usually chipped) all for a fiver or so just defies belief! What more could you possibly want or ask for??? Well, to top that they are also one of the few places that has a 5 star hygiene rating (only ever come across a four previously). Personally I feel they should be charging quite a few pounds more but being a little difficult to find if you don't know the area probably has something to do with it but sat-navs will take you straight there and there is always street parking available and a Tesco's express to grab a newspaper from if you don't read the usual offerings available on the day. Its a bit small but I have always found a seat although I try to avoid the busier times but they are a really nice bunch of people and will always make you welcome. I cannot recommend them enough! The only real downside is that wherever else I go if I am "out of town" I am always now let down regardless of whether it is a pretentious hotel restaurant or other eatery when in search of the perfect breakfast. The best elsewhere now only scores around 80% compared to the Busy Kitchen where I can absolutely give it a 100% rating! Just don't tell too may others or I'll have to wait ages for a seat!

Great to have somewhere that has a great peaceful atmosphere and doesn't have kids making a noise or running around. I've seen bad reviews because kids aren't allowed but this is a positive!
