quick little stop for brekkie. Had the small breakfast and added black pudding and orange juice. All in all good value for money in a very comfy and friendly setting!

Ordered a meal for 2 . Our meal was delivered to the wrong table. One of the people on that table started to eat the meal i ordered and payed for. The waitress then brought the other meal to our table. And said she would bring another meal to me. When the meal arrived it was the wrong meal . I ordered chicken curry with half rice and chips plus nan bread i was given beef madras with half and half no nan bread she then swapped the meal on other table with the one she gave me . Still wrong meal as no nan bread all i was offered was a refund on the nan bread i payed for and never received. Loads of health and food safety rules broken by staff.

Went there for an evening meal and for breakfast while i was in the area for the weekend and the food and service both times where outstanding

Group booking arranged through emma. Always a excellent vibe in potters but sometimes hard to get a seat. The real ales and wines are always excellent and the food is cheap and cheerful. Best thing is the staff who are always on hand to assist when needed. Nice to have such a decent bar in Newport.

Shame on the bouncer working the door Saturday night for not allowing myself and a friend from entering due to my friends cargo trousers looking ‘like work trousers’ (mystified). Seeing the thrill in his eyes was tragic and sad to see that that’s how he gets his kicks. The Pod and Tiny Rebel were far better. Needless to say I won’t be coming back.

Being assaulted by Bully boy security spoiled my visit to this place I have now had a positive response from the owner and the incident has been resolved

Stayed in the Mercure hotel for the Scotland rugby match. We loved Potters which is situated across the road. I speak for all the Scots in our party. We found the food excellent on every occasion with the staff warm & friendly. It was like a home from home!!! Also the afternoon & evening entertainment was top notch. Special mention for Cathy who served us breakfast. Very much recommend this bar when in Newport 👍

Well... I'm stoked at the heated seat on the roof terrace! Came here on a cold wintery evening and made our way to the roof terrace and there's a HEATED SEAT so it was warm and cosy. The roof terrace is great. I've also been here in the summer and the terrace is gorge. Had a roast dinner here too in the past, big meal, quite nice. Nice selection of gin. Great cheesy music!

Went for lunch last Saturday, the good was good, but it was far too noisy for us. We couldn't hear ourselves and to have a conversation was almost impossible.

Food here is of a high standard except for baked potatoes which we have had pre cooked and stale. I've given up on them but my cousin had another bad one today. How hard is it to get a baked potato right. Hopefully this will bring the issue to the owner's attention. Great pub otherwise ❤

Absolutely stunning! Afternoon tea for 5 of us. Sandwiches were lovely and fresh and very tasty, and the cakes were so nice! Service was perfect! Staff are happy to be there and really enjoy their jobs, and this shows with the level of service given to every customer there. I'd definitely recommend this afternoon tea to everyone it's the best we've had, and we've been to a lot of places. Thank you so much for giving us a wonderful afternoon 😊AMENDED REVIEW 10/10 for the service we received for the cream tea, but by contrast, 0/10 for the service received for our meal booked Christmas time. We had prebooked our table in September! Only to be sitted amongst crowds of drunk people having a jolly good time (as they should), but whoever thought it was a good idea to sit diners in the bar area needs sacking! Service was abysmal to non existent, no cutlery (we had to ask) food cold and tastless, and then to top it all off the poor waitress who had to fight through the crowds to get to us spilt a full Gravy boat over me! And I don't mean a trickle. My dress was covered in it! We spent over £150 that night, and I wish we had gone to McDonald's it would have been 100% better. We will not return, not that it will affect the potters I know, I was absolutely gutted as I had a good rapport with the booking lady, and I can't believe we were treated so disgusting. Poor poor management.

Sunday Roast - I had heard that this was the best Sunday roast in Newport. I can only agree - we had Roast Beef - it was hot, tender and delicious. The gravy was home made, which you could tell both from the taste and look. Very very good, we will be back for more !

Went there for a get together with Xmas lunch with friends. No waiting to be served at the bar. Staff friendly and efficient, especially Sandra and Ann who served the meal

For someone who has lived in Newport for 10 years, until the Xmas party I had never set foot in Potters (we drop the 'The' less words to stumble over when tipsy) amazing atmosphere and from a certain time only 25 years and over allowed in the place!!! The food was fab, 3 course Xmas meal for about £20. Drinks are not included, but reasonable pricing is all the same. The only downside was the trek to the toilet. We went through a private party to climb two flights of stairs. Toilet door and a person was a cramp fit! Serving staff were lovely and up for a game of who had what meal. Other than that, a fab night had by all. Totally recommend and have been informed that the terrace in the summer is the place to be. So, I will need to pencil that in for 2024!!!

Good breakfast at a great price with a large glass of orange juice included. It was really busy so I would recommend getting in early. The atmoshere was great and the staff were friendly.

The vegetarian christmas meal was actually pretty good, service was a bit chaotic as at a Christmas party so very busy.

Breakfast before the cinema - we chose the Large cooked breakfast @ £6 95 & were more than pleased with it. 2 of everything, hash browns, bacon, eggs, sausages, with mushrooms, beans & 2 rounds of toast. EXCELLENT price. I also had a small Pepsi which was included if the price

Incredible service once again from The Potters 🥰❤️ We took 12 of our SEN students out after book shopping in town to buy a hot drink and a snack! INCREDIBLE service from the staff, the children all felt so comfortable and really enjoyed their visit! Lovely food and hot drinks, even the teachers couldn’t resist! 😉 We have already decided to return again soon! From our school, a massive thank you to the staff who were so helpful, jokey and patient with our students. Cannot recommend enough! Thank you to Enz, Vicky, Alice, Jess & Nadine!

Great pub that's like a tardis inside with lots of different seating and eating areas, including a roof terrace. Good for sport watching with lots of TV screens too. The food is standard fare eg burgers, fish and steaks etc, but really good quality. A decent wine selection for a pub too it must be said. Also hosts live music, so has got it all

They could get our orders right for a table of 7 . Brought out the wrong breakfasts with the wrong items in them . Asked for my coffee with my breakfast but it came straight away and finished it before my breakfast even came . Decent value for money though once they did arrive .

First time coming here fir breakfast at 10am and the establishment was almost full. Looking around, everyone was eating breakfast so I had high expectations. Believe me when I say the breakfast was superb...cooked perfectly and very tasty: Eggs ,sausages, bacon, baked beans, hash browns ,mushrooms and toast ( with a tea, filter coffee or soft drink thrown in for free). Nom nom nom!

Sunday was the second time we were stopped using the Potters as a pub.We were told if we have not booked a table the only available ,was to get a pint at the bar and go upstairs .We walked out! Is the potters a still a pub???

Food is always really nice. It's a friendly environment and the prices are quite reasonable. Also, the roof terrace is perfect in the summer.

Pleasant place to come for a quick drink whilst in town. I am happy to return here in the future for a full meal.

Great atmosphere, great music and amazing staff

I really liked this public house. The city itself is struggling like most other cities, but places like Potters are thriving and giving hope to the city and its people. The pub is a mix of a drinkers and Family pub. Familys and characters mix together giving a sense of togetherness,fun and tolerance, I also get the feeling the city itself is doing the same. It's incredibly clean,with oak floorboards throughout and plenty of large TV screens,music playing and polite bar staff, and a great pint of IPA. The venue has a Large food menu which seemed popular with lunchtime guests,breakfast is served from 9am and I am going to return and post pictures of the breakfast and give a star rating for the food. Newport should be a stop over Hub for travellers travelling the M4 corridor and this certainly venue is better than any services I have used,no disrespect to services of course.

Very expensive drinks on sat night. And had to queue outside in all weathers on sat night when there is plenty of room inside. Don't know why they do this. Staff are great. We go for band night . We use to go every week but because of the queueing outside we now go every fortnight.

How can a restaurant/bar refuse entry to someone who is 23 years old. Doesn’t state anywhere that’s it’s over 25s only. Also… the law states that anyone over the age of 18 can purchase alcohol 👍🏻

Was turned away from door because I was 23 years old. No where states over 25. Was wanting to enjoy nice meal out and was left disappointed.

The breakfast here is superb, cooked very well and very tasty, eggs have that old school taste. The only reason for not giving 5 stars would be the price of a very small glass of cheap orange juice.

Went for afternoon tea today and it was one of the best we've had anywhere. The food was fresh and filling and the staff were friendly and attentive. We have had main meals there in the past and they, too, have been lovely and even when there was a crowd of us every meal was hot, well cooked and well presented.

The food was delicious and the staff, very friendly, Allowed me and my son to sit in a section he wasn't allowed to sit in which was very kind.

This is such a lovely place to visit the staff are always welcoming and the food is on point always a good place to go day or night weekends are brilliant as live bands aswell.

I found the staff very rude Trying to rush a table of 15 . we had quite a few kids there. Which couldn't make up their mind As kids always do And the lady started to Huff and Pant. And remind us that our tables booked for the next hour So Another family can come in Very expensive and not that nice. Shame I won't be going back
