The best restaurants serving British food in Cathays Cardiff South Wales

THE must-go place in Cardiff for that iconic diner-esque heartwarming late-night experience, anytime.

Found this place by accident. The Sunday lunch is superb, so was the chicken burger and I had a great vegetarian selection. The staff are welcoming and helpful. If I had a complaint, there was too much food 😊 Highly recommend.

We came for a family lunch after a weekend in cardiff seeing wicked with our nan. We ended our weekend with lunch at Bill's cardiff centre. We were greeted with smiley faces and were served by a lovely staff member, her name was Tilly. She was kind, attentive and nothing was too much for her. It was a lovely experience for the end of a lovely weekend for our family.

One of my favourite places to go in Cardiff. Always great music and a great selection of beer. Never seen any trouble

Rooms were clean albeit sparce. Breakfast was pretty good. Staff could be warmer had a rather rude maintenance staff push pass us coming out from the lift and the reception staff could come across as a bit more engaging, seemed a bit indifferent 😐

I've been here a few times . Only for a pint. But now they serve food. Omg not just food but omg amazing . The prices are decent the place is ls situated opposite the castle and I'm not being biased in any way but if you guys want food and I mean quality food , very very clean very very much mmy top 1 place to visit in Cardiff . Finally a place that's cheap and serves a cracking pint .never ever will go anywhere else but the tavern . A+

Very interesting little place, large garden and smoking area with heaters, variety of music too. Staff are generally nice and welcoming

We had the most amazing time , Brenton was the best bringing us all our drinks and making sure our experience was a good one. Brenton is an asset to the slug and lettuce we absolutely loved him

Very disappointed with our first visit of this place. We arrived on time and were greeted by a half empty restaurant however the five of us were led to 2 tables separated by a corner and I was offered to rearrange the tables anyway that I wanted? We sat down and after 20 minutes I had to go and ask can we at least order drinks obviously by that time we were ready to order food anyway. The food came and a long wait and it was okay, however most of our pies were lukewarm. The drinks were also awful. The Prosecco had zero bubbles and the Coca-Cola that was served first was completely flat , so they changed that for a can of Coke zero which ended up being a regular Coke but I wasn’t going to try to change that. No apologies for the bad service was given until the very end when they came to bring the bill. After paying I realised that they had put an £8 service charge on which I most certainly would not have paid.! Never again!

We visited this place for food while we were visiting Cardiff I had the kebab which was lovely and very well priced my wife had a cheese and pickle baguette which was also nice the staff was very friendly the place was welcoming and the best bit was they allow dogs definitely be visiting again

Our 2nd visit in a few weeks, sunday lunch the other week was delicous and service very good. We went again today and had a “buy-a gift” voucher to use. Manager was so helpful ( as a problem with the voucher) The food and service was excellent, will definately be returning with friends.

Had a lovely meal, Ellen looked after us and she was brilliant. Beautiful place and wonderful food. Excellent service

Esta tarde me localizar Bailey's Carvery, y yo no me decepcionó. Espaciosas, tranquilas. He disfrutado de una gran variedad de carnes tallados con verduras, salsa y sal y una ración satisfechos. Me bebimos limonada con hielo a través de una pajita plástico y yo tuvimos opción para rellenar vidrio si es necesario y disfruté con otra recarga de limonada. Excelente relación calidad-precio, servicio y despliegue.

Came for one quick drink and ended up staying all night! Shaun was very friendly when he greeted us, he was genuinely happy to take time to talk to you and his cocktails were fantastic! Him and Joel really seemed to know their drinks, if they have the ingredients they’re more than happy to make you whatever you fancy. Followed on with a couple burgers from the kitchen which went down a treat. We’ll definitely be coming back if those boys are on the bar, a real credit to the hotel.
