Absolutely fab day went for my birthday weekend, if you get Ash as your server not only is he very attentive he will explain your options and have a laugh with you. Really enjoyed the experience and Ash made it even better and I’m glad we had him to help with our service.

We visited yesterday as a group of 10 for bottomless brunch. I want to give a huge shoutout to Izzy for looking after us. The drinks came super quick, food was served piping hot and she was an asset to the team in Cardiff. We were celebrating a 50th birthday and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Izzy made my mums birthday and my nan thoroughly enjoyed her first ever brunch with the girls. Well done Slug & Lettuce Cardiff ! And thank you ☺️

Shocking service by all staff member except Ella -Louise who was absolutely exceptional who went above and beyond. If it wasn’t for Ella Louise, we would have walked out as soon as we was seated. Very very rude bar staff who refused to take our drinks order when ordering food and stated ‘down to brunch staff’ although the allocated brunch staff was completely run off her feet serving 2 floors of customers. Ella Louise really made the experience worth the money and made it worth staying at slug and lettuce. We had bottomless brunch booked for 3.45pm, without Ella Louise we would have left by 4pm.

Came on Saturday 20th for brunch at 12.15! From the moment I booked the team couldn’t have been more accommodating, allowed me to arrive early to put up banners and cancel a few who pulled out last minute! There was 12 of us who attended and the food was amazing, service from ash was top notch nothing was to much for him even my nans banter! Disappointing visit to Slug and Lettuce at The Friary. Firstly no table reserved even though we book a few days in advance. Had to wait for table to be cleaned which was fine and didn’t take long. Food was mediocre at best. Sinks and floor in toilets covered in toilet paper and used glasses left on sinks. Member of staff rudely tried to tell us we only had 20 minutes left at our table when we had only been there half an hour. When we explained our table hadn’t been reserved when we had booked she huffed that we could stay there and walked off. Not the first poor experience we’ve had here so won’t be visiting again.

Me and my partner went to slug and lettuce we loved it! We had a pornstar cocktail tree and it was lovely. The beer garden is a like a little sun trap we will deffo come back again!

Booked a table with £10 deposit. I mistakenly arrived at the wrong venue, I had booked a table at St Mary’s Street bar. I was told on arrival that my deposit could not be used at that site although it is a chain. We considered staying but the table we were offered looked dirty/sticky, the fabric chairs were visibly soiled ! To find this after hearing all the rules put in place to follow guidance from public health was an absolute joke. We were told we could go to the toilet 1 at a time, don’t interact with others and only get out of your seat to use the bathroom. Incidentally, we left to go to St Mary’s street venue who followed all the necessary guidelines without micro managing their guests. It was clean, staff were friendly and efficient and I felt very safe there. Will not return to Friary Centre .

I cannot describe how terrible this brunch was, I had eggs florentine-the whites of the eggs were still translucent. The drinks (a poor selection) were poor quality. At £28 a head this was not value for money whatsoever. The staff were friendly.

Tuvimos una comida realmente agradable y 2 4 1 cócteles encantadores allí, sin embargo, eran 30 el día que fuimos y nos sentaron en una mesa junto a un radiador hirviendo. Muy decepcionado con nuestra visita a Slug and Lettuce, Cardiff esta noche.Visité para el acuerdo de "comer fuera para ayudar".Encantadora bienvenida en la puerta con buenas instrucciones sobre las precauciones de Covid.Ordene en el bar, una sola persona - bastante justo, excepto que muchos elementos del menú no estaban disponibles y nadie más estaba permitido en el bar. Entonces, una vez que haya intentado hacer un pedido y le hayan dicho que no tienen ensalada, bistec, hamburguesas, no en ningún momento al mismo tiempo, justo después de cada intento de pedido con su grupo tratando de reordenar, pero se le regaña por violar las reglas si llegan al alcance del oído para intentar pedir algo más en el menú. Finalmente sugirieron hamburguesas de pollo y lasaña, así que comimos 2 hamburguesas de pollo sofocadas y 1 lasaña. Llegó en 5 minutos. Lasaña fina, hamburguesas de pollo repugnantes: pequeña 1/2 rebanada de queso procesado con un chorrito de salsa barbacoa en una pieza de pollo procesada rosa por dentro / gris por fuera. No comestible. El camarero preguntó cortésmente si estábamos disfrutando de las comidas, dijo que ningún pollo era horrible e inmediatamente ofreció un reemplazo. Como nuestra comida había llegado inicialmente en 5 minutos, sentí que estaría bien. 25 minutos después terminó el resto de la fiesta y les pedí que se olvidaran de la comida de reemplazo, ya que era demasiado tarde. Les pregunté si podían traer algunos churros y bocadillos de brownie en su lugar, los únicos 2 elementos del desierto en el menú que habrían costado 2. 99. Se fue, pero luego llegó la supervisora (¡ojalá tuviera su nombre!) Puso la comida de reemplazo frente a mí y dijo 'usted lo ordenó, lo cocinamos, depende de usted si lo come pero no puede obtener un reembolso '! . . . . . . . . La comida era terrible, el control de existencias también es evidentemente terrible. It was quiet which was nice, and the food arrived promptly, however it soon became apparent that my son's lunch hadn't actually been ordered. That wasn't the end of the world as I'd ordered enough sides for him to have enough to eat. My husband found three hairs in his Shwarma sandwich which was rather off putting. We won't be returning, mainly because of the hairs, but even the hair-free food was mediocre at best.

Stopped by on a night out for cocktails. Drinks were fine. Girl came round offering free shots & totally ignored us. I get that we are not her chosen customers but we were spending money there. Will not be back anytime soon. Any comments from management gratefully received as it seems we were predegist for being in our 50's

Gerente horrible, personal horrible, trato horrible. Echado fuera del lugar para ir al baño como lo haría alguien cuando necesita ir, pero la seguridad lo sacó porque sospechaba que tomaba drogas. Qué ridícula acusación cuando voy al baño como un humano normal. ¿Cuál es el punto de tener baños si solo te van a echar?

Refused entry for 4 respectable adults one a 70 year only because he was wearing a speedway tee shirt will never go to any of this company’s venue again, when to Zanis instead and could not have been made more welcome. Half the town were wearing sporting tee shirts for the Cardiff speedway final, your loss as my many friend will verify

The place is really beautiful and the food and drinks aren't bad although it's all a bit expensive if you take in consideration the service. You have to order at the bar even when the place is absolutely empty, when you get there, no one tells you that you have to order at the bar, so you better figure that out yourself. The food is good but it takes forever to be served and some of the dishes were already cold when they got to our table. So the experience was only pleasant because we made it so and the flavours of the food were good. So my advice for manadgement would be please pay more attention to the service and hire more stuff or someone who actually knows what they're doing. As a former waitress and maitre I know what I'm talking about and if I had waiters like that under my supervision they wouldn't last a day on the job.Btw...I had to take our drinks to the table on the tray and they didn't even say thank you when I returned it.

I've always hated the name the Slug and Lettuce, but we were in search of food and came across this place and decided to give it a try. The decor is really nice, abit quirky and feminine. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar. There was a reasonable choice on the menu and food was good. There wasn't much of an atmosphere but this was a Monday evening.

Visited here for a hen do (27th July),table was pre booked and a £5 per person deposit paid.After being told where our table was we sat and waited and waited,no menus were offered.

We came here in two couples, i was amazed by how much bigger and prettier it was than the swansea one, i loved the old music and the huge disco balls hanging from the ceiling, it was soo pretty with all the flowers too! Gutted i didnt take photos now

A group of 18 of us booked here for Cocktail making classes followed by a 3 course meal. Gerrant (I'm so sorry.....I know I've spelt your name wrong) was a wonderful host. Full of knowledge about each cocktails history & great fun with the whole group. The food & cocktails were fantastic & plentiful & would come here again just for those, but Gerrant (sorry again) & the other lovely lady that served our food both made our night.

La mesa estaba reservada. La comida no era buena y todo se separaba por separado. Otros en el grupo habían terminado su comida antes de que otros fueran llevados a la mesa. Encontrado decepcionante la cantidad de tiempo que las personas en el grupo tuvieron que pasar de pie en el bar. Personalmente esperé 15 minutos para que se hicieran dos cócteles, ya que tenían que seguir corriendo hacia atrás. Por vasos y otros artículos para hacer los cócteles. Después de pagar la factura, me di cuenta de que el depósito que se había pagado por la mesa no se había deducido. Por suerte me di cuenta de que tenía 70 años, esto fue cuestionado y después de unos cuantos cócteles fue difícil disputar, pero al final me devolvieron el dinero. Simplemente no es una gran experiencia sobre todo. Se reserva en otro lugar la próxima vez! !

Mi equipo en el trabajo reservado para hacer cócteles para nuestro día de descanso en Slug & Lettuce y fue muy divertido. Tuvimos una buena oferta por lo que pagamos, incluida la sesión de coctelería, algunas bebidas gratuitas y un buffet que era encantador. El personal era amable y nos ayudó a que nuestro día fuera lo más divertido posible. Definitivamente lo recomendaría para fiestas y me encantaría volver a hacerlo: -)

Reservamos un área para una despedida de soltera el sábado por la noche para 35 personas con un paquete de bebidas que cuesta 150 por una botella de vodka y algunos mezcladores. Cuando llegamos, el área no estaba lista y después de unos 20 minutos de espera quedó claro que el lugar había cometido un error. Tuvimos que compartir el área con otra despedida de soltera que no fue un problema, pero tuvimos que esperar a que las mesas y las sillas se tiraran juntas para acomodarnos. La señora de los eventos (no recibió su nombre, pero tenía el pelo rubio) se disculpó y nos ofreció algunas botellas de Prosecco como una disculpa que fue genial, pero el evento ya había sido desilusionado. Además de esto, el servicio de bar era excepcionalmente pobre, no se sirvió a nadie en la mitad inferior del bar durante aproximadamente 40 minutos. Lo sé porque esperé allí tanto tiempo, y ni un solo miembro del personal estaba sirviendo en el extremo inferior, aunque 5 o 6 miembros del personal estaban en el extremo superior. Cuando vinimos a pedir nuestras bebidas pedimos 2 jarras de cóctel y algunas otras bebidas con el barman cobrando 78 que cuestionamos ya que era 2 por 1. Cuando comprobó esto en realidad era 52! No estoy impresionado con la nueva babosa y lechuga y definitivamente no reservaría otro evento aquí. Necesita más personal en el bar y mejores habilidades de organización, especialmente en una noche de sábado muy concurrida. Si la señora de los eventos no hubiera hecho todo lo posible por resolver el error, ¡esta sería una estrella!

Visited at the weekend in a large party, prearranged! Ordered meals, not one decent. Cold, tasteless, not good quality. Ordered, or tried to order desserts and all sold out! AT 4.30pm!!! They should have been prepared for the bookings taken. Then to add insult to injury, tried to charge us in full, denying they had received a deposit from each party member! Thank goodness for email confirmation! Rubbish customer service, which dampened an otherwiseovely celebration. Avoid if you want to eat, be treated well and correctly charged!!

I have visited here twice in the last couple of weeks. Both times the service was terrible but the food and drinks were really good. We waited almost an hour for our food on the first visit and after asking at the bar why it was taking so long I was told they'd been looking for us for the last 20 minutes even though we'd given our table number when ordering. The cocktails were good but as with most cocktail bars, you wait at the bar for 10-15 minutes before you are served.

We popped in on St David's Day and it was not that busy. It was my sister and I with her 5 month old baby, the min we walked in, the staff groaned. Obviously not a fan of kids. We sat down at the windows and got a high chair. I ordered our food and drinks at the bar and to be honest, the pricing was ok. Ordering from the bloke was awkward and he made me feel weird having an Irish accent, kept saying WHAT!

Booked a table here for food after a show at the New Theatre. When we arrived we went to the bar to ask for our table to find that someone was sitting there. They had put a reserved sign on it but no time or name so can't blame the other person.

enjoyed a fab afternoon of 2-4-1 cocktails and lunch. The cocktails were sometimes a little short in their size, but tasty. However, a few details let things down. The Ab Fab cocktail didn't have the promised sweets as they had run out. Not a crisis... but we also ordered the chicken and duck sharers. The chicken one was HUGE and an amazing deal, but the duck one was tiny - barely enough for one. We complained and while they then cooked us a huge extra portion of duck to add to it, the waitress siad everyone moans about it all the time - Slug and Lettuce you should be ashamed of yourselves! Stop putting your staff in a difficult situation and either take it off the menu, or do it right!

Had afternoon tea and cocktails. Service from Geraint was excellent. We had an lovely selection of sandwiches. Tea Scones jam and cream, profiteroles, macaron, two cocktails each and a glass of prosecco. There were balloons on the table and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely go there again.

I came here with a friend as a treat. The cocktails I had here were lovely and the staff were super friendly and attentive. My friend is a veggie so when we booked I asked for one plate of a selection of veggie sandwiches and one plate of normal as advertised- note ‘selection’. We got a sliced baguette each so we only had one flavour each and it was very bready there was hardly any filling at all. I complained and got more bready roll slices with a sliver of filling. My veggie friend got the same flavour again so she had 2 bread roll slices of the same filling and it was all bread, hardly any filling. We opened the clotted cream container and it was runny like melted butter, at this point we found it hilarious because of how bad the rest of the afternoon tea had been. We pointed it out and got new cream but it didn’t give us much confidence in the rest of the meal. To be honest we found it hilarious how bad it was, it was easily the worst afternoon tea I’d had in Cardiff! The staff were lovely the whole time and sorted us out with 2 free drinks which was really good of them but this was easily the worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had in Cardiff and I’ve lived in Cardiff my whole life and have tried most of the afternoon teas! I will never come here again!
