Esta tarde me localizar Bailey's Carvery, y yo no me decepcionó. Espaciosas, tranquilas.

We were visiting Cardiff from Australia and stayed in Cardiff for 2 days. We walked up the High Street to find somewhere to eat and were stopped by a member of staff outside the venue who told us about the carvery they had to offer. His unkempt and dirty fingernails should have been a warning to us!On being taken downstairs into what appeared to be an old nightclub, we were seated. I felt uneasy but, the waitress was friendly and took our drinks order. We then approached the servery to get our food. This resembled something out of a prison movie. The "chef' who served us has tats all down his arms and paused to talk to his mates (the other 'chefs') who were behind him. I began to look at the food and normally I am not fussy, BUT this was disgusting. Dried out meat and veggies that look like they had been boiled within an inch of their life! The roast potatoes were all burnt....so burnt that they looked like charcoal. I am in no way exaggerating! I was that disgusted that my family and I left without getting any food. This is the first time that I have ever walked out of a eatery before eating! With such a vast selection in Cardiff I would certainly eat elsewhere! By the way...Cardiff was excellent!

What a fantastic restaurant. Gorgeous breakfast! Everything so clean, even better that it was all you can eat for £5 for breakfast including tea and coffee. Such a bargain.

Working in the city centre I pass this regularly and had seen that it has opened under a new guise so thought we'd try it out on Sunday. The location on the Hayes couldn't be more central and with the basement seating it's very cool and quiet, a great way to escape from the crowds.Unfortunately the restaurant feels like a school canteen - the tables are bare other than salt/pepper, there are only a smattering of small paintings but the long side walls are bare and bits of the decor are unfinished - where we sat there was builders writing visible on the ceiling and the glass wall decoration was missing showing the masonry dust on the floor. (Seems like a little bit more work would have gone a long way). Those from Cardiff will know this used to be a seafood restaurant (La Fosse) and the layout looks like the inside of a ship (porthole shaped windows, cast iron pillars etc), it’s hard to see how the Bailey medieval theme on the company logo fits here! However, everything was clean, the bar area looks very attractive and everything is spaced out nicely, I can imagine even if full (250 seats) you wouldn't feel too packed in.Anyway, you’re most likely to have been drawn here by the promise of a £6.99 carvery and you won't be left disappointed there – a choice of pork/gammon/turkey/beef, huge Yorkshires, plenty of steamed veg and salad and gorgeous roast potatoes are sure to fill a gap! The meat we had was well cooked - moist and tender, the veg was tasty (although we avoided the peas which looked completely dry), Yorkshires were crispy and the roast potatoes were fluffy inside and crispy out. A pint of Grolsch was £4 and refillable soft drinks £2.50. Excellent value for the city centre, where the only comparable roast you’ll find is Wetherspoon.Staff were friendly, service was quick and for £6.99 you can’t go wrong!

Baileys carvery in a new establishment in Cardiff city centre. My partner, Andy and I tried the lunch carvery on a Saturday lunchtime. This is a basement venue, nicely cooled by good air conditioning; generally a rare luxury in the UK during the July 2014 heatwave. Three types of meat were on offer that I could see. Turkey, beef and pork - with a nut roast (not on view) - I asked if there was a vegetarian option. I selected the turkey, with was very tasty and moist. Andy had the beef. Again packed with flavour and tender. Lots of healthy steamed veg, peas, carrots onions and home cooked Yorkshires. Would have been nice to have had parsnips or broccoli. Lashings of cranberry, horseradish and apple sauces in addition to two types of gravy. All the staff very very friendly and all smartly turned out in matching uniforms. The feeling I had is that it genuinely mattered the customer left happy. This reminds me of service in the States! I also liked the paintings on the walls by local artists, giving a unique feel to the deco. Two good quality roast dinners and two soft drinks - with free refills - all for £18. Not bad at all for city center dining. I was informed they do breakfasts in addition to 2 for 1 cocktails in the evening. Recommended.

Shopping in town with other half and we stumbled across this place in the Hayes with staff outside handing out leaflets. We popped in a little later to give it a go and thank God we did! Town is full of chain-y pricey places and lacks somewhere spacious, good value for money, friendly and tasty! First, you walk downstairs and the place opens up, it is huge! We were greeted well by a waiter and shown to our table. Menu was simple as it was a carvery. I am in the restaurant business myself so i tend to look at EVERYTHING in detail. I couldn't fault anything.A selection of meats on offer was excellent with the veg steamed virtually in front of you. A chap came up to us and started chatting and he turned out to be the owner. I believe it was John.. Charming, friendly and humbly welcoming. And this is great to see. Clearly a man very proud of his work. He informed us the restaurant is brand new and to be fair, no detail had been spared. Lunch was £6.99 which my partner enjoyed, and she was even raving about the gravy! I went for the sirloin which was a couple pounds more but well worth it! I like my steaks blue and fairplay, it was blue! With outstanding service, gracious hospitality and a product that is so needed in the City, i am sure this place will do well. Well done John and team..We dined mid afternoon, it was surprisingly quite busy for the time of the day, we ate the 6.99 and 9.99 menus and with drinks, our bull came to less than £25.. For so much food of this much quality, it was a steal.. I think there was an offer for kids eating free? Anyway, 5 stars all round!

When i had seen Bailey Carvery had opened on The Hayes i couldn't wait to try it, as i love my Carveries and for only £6.99 it was worth trying out. I went in on Monday and the day was very hot, however the restaurant was lovely and cool with the A/C on, in fact it was nice to get out of the scorching heat we have been having this week and cool down.I was shown to my table and given a menu, they had sirloin, baked salmon and a lovely salad bar along with some other items on offer but i was only interested in the carvery. So i ordered my drink which was an ice cold bottomless Pepsi, (very welcoming on such a hot day) and went up to the Carvery. They had a choice of 4 meats, but i had just turkey & beef and filled my plate with the plentiful veg on offer.I have to say the meal was easily the best carvery in cardiff that i have ever tasted. The meat was very juicy and melted in the mouth and the cauliflower cheese actually tasted like cauliflower cheese, as it should. Unlike the rubbish you get in a Toby. The mash potato was lovely and creamy too as was the swede. in fact every bit of it was delicious. You could tell this was food prepared with passion and not simply slopped up by staff working at a chain.Overall not a fault with anything and i highly recommend this place to anyone. The staff were very polite and attentive plus smart too i might add. The food is amazing and exceptional value for money. I wish John (the owner) and his team all the best and will see you again next week.

I was a bit tentative as I'd not heard of this place before. I then was told it's only been open two weeks. As soon as word gets out Bailey Carvery will be a big hit in Cardiff city Centre. I popped in for lunch as I was fed up of pasta, baguettes etc I sat down and had the best carvery I've tasted . There was a choice of meats and I went for Turkey and Beef. The staff were very friendly the restaurant was spotless and the air con was a blessing. Try it next time you're in town. The bar opens at 9am apparently ;)

Me and the wife had a voucher for a 3 course meal there. Got to say that the menu choice was great plenty of choices, all courses was presented well, really tasty, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was great and very polite. We would recommend a visit for a special occasion. We would return, even without the voucher.

The restaurant with the best view in Cardiff also can supply you with a damn fine breakfast buffet. Window seats (or if possible -this is Wales- outside) are the best.

Rooms were clean albeit sparce. Breakfast was pretty good. Staff could be warmer had a rather rude maintenance staff push pass us coming out from the lift and the reception staff could come across as a bit more engaging, seemed a bit indifferent 😐
