Good value for money, staff very friendly and food was great

Fab place Lisa who served us was very delightful

Andy was unbelievable, brilliant. Ellen was also amazing. Nicking was brilliant and really helped with my order and managed to upwell to me.

A bit of a let down really. We had a really nice meal here the other month just before Christmas time. However, we decided to go today for a break from cooking and it was very disappointing. The lady serving on the bar was very nice warm and welcoming, although that was the only good part about it. The carvery dinners were lukewarm at best, the meat was like gristle. Stuffing was like chunks of plasterboard. Only veg out was peas, weird coloured carrots and green beans. Really not an enjoyable meal. Overall, an okay place with really nice and friendly staff just a shame the food was such a massive let down. Unfortunately don’t think we’ll be coming back soon until the food improves.

The food and drinks were what to expect really for the very reasonable price that we paid. The staff member lady who greeted us, showed us to our table, and took our food and drinks order couldn't have been any more pleasant and helpful and I would say she is a credit to The Hollybush.

Took my sister in law for a belated birthday lunch today at The Hollybush. Fabulous carvery selection - fresh, hot and really tasty. The staff were so friendly and such good value.

Love the carvery, when I actually get it, last few times I've ordered it has been delivered with either no roast potatoes, or a lack of meat/slice of fat. They never give the sausage that's meant to come with the carvery either, and this time I ordered and the best part of the carvery is missing(the stuffing) and the bag it was delivered in was not sealed at all so if the delivery person dipped into my food I would be none the wiser. I had previously given 5 stars because it would come with everything before, but now it's hit and miss every time I order whether I actually get 'the works' If something is going to be missing then you should call your customer and inform them instead of delivering disappointment. Great portions most of the time though, and the food tastes great too, I'd definitely recommend it. Please also add options to remove things from the carvery to your menu, for example I'd prefer mine with no cauliflower cheese but there is no option to remove it. Thank you. (Update: Now I want to order and the only meat option available on your menu is gammon(screenshot uploaded)!? Why is this? And I try to call to enquire about why, and nobody answers the phone, pointless telling people to 'get in touch' on your website if nobody answers the phone lol)

Great carvery on a Friday, well impressed with the flavours. Roast beef and roast potatoes were very good.

Nice food. Cleanliness could be improved

Arrived without a booking on a busy Sunday and with a dog, so although warned I should have booked a table in advance, they found us a seat within a minute. Food was the option of either a carvery (available all week) or standard pub food menu, with its ordering 2x carveries, a pizza and fish and chips. All food was great abs enjoyed by all. To top it off, for dessert they had a bottomless ice cream offer, which the kids had a really good go at. Looking to book again!

Warm welcome, friendly service and top rated carvery meal. Yesterday, we visited the Hollybush in the middle of a busy lunch service, asking for a table of 2. The friendly manager asked if we had booked and has we hadn't he explained the restaurant was full but offered us the option of sitting in the bar, which we gratefully accepted. The bar staff were friendly and helpful, despite being busy. The busy waitress clearing tables, chatted to us despite being busy. The carvery food was amazing. Hot, fresh, good selection and high quality meat. The chefs carving the meat were friendly and helpful and the gravy was piping hot and delicious. Having eaten at a chain carvery and had luke warm food in the past, I would not hesitate recommending this as a MUCH better alternative. Better still the manager was friendly and also 'mucking in' for example topping up cutlery when he had no customers to greet. I have honestly not enjoyed food or service of this standard in a very long time - Well done to the team at the Hollybush. We WILL be back. Thank you Mandy

Had the sunday carvery today, both the beef and turkey plus vegetables were delicious. Gravy spot on, well done. Will return.

An average experience. I only decided to have a small carvery, so I wasn't expecting too much. However, the veg left on the side was by far not the best, also barely warm.

We met here tonight for the Mercedes-Benz Club monthly meet up. We've been overwhelmed by the welcome from Mike and his team, and the food is absolutely incredible. Parking is plentiful with disabled and electric charging spaces. Definitely a new favourite venue. I was going to take a picture of my food, but it was too nice and I ate it before I remembered.

It is really a very enjoyable and beautiful place. Prices are reasonable, service is good.

Posiblemente el peor lugar para ir a por pizza, la pizza estaba tan seca que era como comer pan crujiente, apenas había tomate o queso si lo había estaba todo seco. Afirma ser casero, pero una pizza de Tesco habría sido mucho mejor. Me decepcionó mucho y creo que deberían tener esto en cuenta.

Really great carvery. The staff are always warm and welcoming. My mother's diet had recently become very restricted so the chef offered to cook some fresh vegetables that she could eat and he brought out practically a mountain of it. Update 20230913 Much the same but very busy and seemingly understaffed. The food was great, except for the sprouts which were somewhat bland. Update 20250201 Food was delicious. Staff attentive and friendly.

Went for a carvery which I think is well priced, went for the XL plate which allows you additional meat etc and that was around £12.50 I think? Thoroughly enjoyed the carvery and because it's well priced, it's super popular & gets rammed, so make sure you book a table. Don't risk a walk-in.

Al pagar no se dijo que no había pudín negro La urna de café estaba vacía cuando se llenaba dispensaba café lleno de café molido. No hay huevos en cubierta, tomates y frijoles solo escurre en contenedores Al volver a cubierta unos 15 minutos más tarde todavía solo vierte en los tomates y frijoles casi nada de tocino alrededor de cuatro salchichas, pero los huevos habían aparecido. Took ny team for food in December which was faultless but lost my receipt to claim back on my expenses. Called today and Andy went above adf beyond to take the time to find our orser and provide me with a receipt. He could have easily said no but spent best part of 20 minutes sorting it out for me. Thanks Andy!

Food was disgusting!!! Would not return! Gravy was so thick and lumpy I had to ask 2 members of staff to thin it down as I couldn’t pour it. Peas were rock hard, carrots were so soft and soggy. The red cabbage and sprouts were the food had been stood for ages they were dried up and tasted awful. There wasn’t any staff when we left to complain and we had already paid. Absolutely disgusting. Maybe earlier in the day would be better as constantly food being replenished.

Had food on delivery turned up.late stone cold and contaminated with chicken.bones, spoke to staff who said he was duty manager and would send a discount for future use as not sure what he could do but as I thought nothing ever arrived in my email, this was on Sunday 29th Dec 2024, Next day still nothing Sent from the so called duty manager just shows the service levels they say something and.then just don't follow through don't even have the decency to respond

Just had an Amazing Christmas day lunch at the Hollybush Service , Staff and food was Excellent. Will be definitely booking again for next year . Very Festive Atmosphere.

Lovely Christmas Day lunch. Staff were excellent but. The building itself is old and drab. Badly in need of a major renovation. Mould on walls, hard board on ceiling, windows hanging out of their frames. Paintwork chipped and dirty. Toilets need updating.

Visited today we had the festive menu I had the festive burger made by Dave which was delicious everyone thoroughly enjoyed the festive carverys all piping hot and very tasty would definitely recommend will be visiting again very soon

Went here today with my partner, and I was shocked at how expensive it is here. One large carvery, one standard carvery and two glasses of diet coke came to £28.60! I thought that was terrible value seeing as there wasn't much vegetables to choose from, only a few roast potatoes left and honestly just a plain carvery. I wouldn't pay those prices again. I also found the staff very strange. They stare a lot and apart from one very Welsh woman who was friendly, the rest of the staff are rude and strange, especially the woman on the bar. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Had festive lunch today. Great experience service excellent found excellent. Staff fabulous especially Lisa our main waitress. There were 45 if us and they provided a really good experience. Thank you all.

We had a get together of 45 members of the Village Hotel Aqua classes. it was well set out for the 45 of us over 4 long tables and all 3 course meals were serviced very efficiency and all 3 coursed were serviced at the correct temperatures. Our waitress Lisa and some of her helpers were so good helpful and nothing was too much trouble

Came in for breakfast, wow just how bad can it get, bacon so hard it you couldn't cut it, black pudding let's just say black stone couldn't even bit into them, fryed bread you could of rung out and re used the oil from it🤢. Only good thing was the sausage which I loved as for tomato and beans they were tins so they were ok. Unfortunately I wouldn't not entertain coming back for the breakfast, I think you should just stick to what you know and how to cook and that's a carvery, not the best but a good one.

I get their too good to go carvery boxes. Always packed to the top with generous portions of meat + veg and full of delicious warm food. All for only £3.29! What excellent value for food and the service is always quick. I get there and my food is always ready to collect no waiting around

Only tiny piece of beef roast left which was very fatty, when I asked for beef I expected him to bring a fresh joint out he preceded to place the fatty pieces on my plate. Told him I'd just have turkey. Lady behind me asked for fresh beef he told her not until that piece had been finished meaning some poor people having to eat the scrag ends. Not great when everybody is paying the same.Shame previous visits food has always been excellent.

I think the manager could tell that we don't go out often. (I suffer with anxiety) He explained everything to us and helped put us at ease. We were able to sit in a quiet area which helped massively as all 3 of my teenagers have adhd. When it came to ordering he was able to correct an issue I was having with an app. We use Stonehouse as its the only place I can get sausages and chips for my son (it's the only food he eats due to his disabilities). During a conversation with the manager I explained how I pay the 7.99 for 3 sausages and then buy a portion of chips to make the meal. He said he would arrange it with the kitchen to make the chips and that I didnt need to order them separately. This action was simply amazing and made my son feel great as at other branches he had to sit with his sausages while I've had to chase where his chips are. I feel like the manager went above and beyond for us and this simple gesture with the chips made a massive difference so I can't thank him enough. The other staff were also really friendly and the chef knew straight away that we were the family for the chips which shows great communication skills with in the team. Service was really fast and efficient. I watched how the other staff helped an elderly man with his wife in a wheel chair and they were again brilliant with the way they helped him. It was really nice to see this level of friendliness and helpfulness as you don't see it very often anymore.

I come here quite often with my dad usually for breakfast came here today after being away for a few weeks to learn that the prices have gone up and the service has gone right down the drain along with the food I waited 20 minutes for bacon to come out and when it finally did it was pale and looked really fatty never had a problem untill now only good thing was I got a refund but I won’t be coming back bring back the old manager I say! Also the manager did apologise and given me money back still was £1:98 short I also recommend having a word with your chefs because they can’t cook

Nice food and good atmosphere. Plenty of seating and can always find a quiet corner. Friendly staff. Plenty of food options although I always go for the carvery! It's our go-to place when travelling along the M4 in South Wales as it's situated just 5 mins off junction 32 near Cardiff.

Lovely pub, staff super friendly. Dogs allowed in the bar area so that's great for me and my dad as we're always with the dogs. I had the Hawaiian pizza which was 50% off on Tuesdays! Love a bargain. Dad has the fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed. Will come back for sure.

Been a loyal customer to this carvery for years and years. Won’t go any where else except this carvery….however after yesterdays visit I have to finally close the doors on this establishment. I visited yesterday with a party of 4 (two children) it was all new staff working (which is a red flag in itself) I ordered two carvery’s and two kids meals (one a cheeseburger). Upon going to the carvery all the veg was bottom of the barrel. Where it had been under the warm lights for so long all the moisture had gone out of it and dried everything out. I asked the extremely large chef who always looks like he can’t be bothered to be there, if he could bring out some fresh veg. He replied he will check. Eventually he pulled out some fresh roasties that he was holding onto for some strange reason. I then went to the gravy station to find the worst gravy I’ve ever seen be paired with a cooked dinner. My Pepsi was thicker than the gravy. Upon sitting down the kids meals were brought to us. Except the cheeseburger meal was missing cheese or any garnish. I explained to the lovely waitress that we had asked for cheese on the burger. She then went back to the chef to get some put on but relayed a sarcastic messages from the chef saying “Next time specify cheese when ordering the burger”. I replied thats exactly what we had done to which she apologised on behalf of the chef. Ultimately this was the worst carvery we have had (and we’ve tried coopers before). Disappointing that this place has gone down the pan, was a family favourite.

A well run pub with great locals and a restaurant with good food. Friendly staff and excellent service. Live acts, the Saturday quiz and ‘play your cards right’ game with prizes is a blast. Recommended.

Lovely place, carvery plus lots of other food selections to choose from. Really nice food and staff were fantastic. Only one recommendation, you need to sort your salt cellars out as many are not working and somewhat congealed. Overall very nice though.

The food was not the nicest and cold and had to ask for the meat as only one option of meat on display not value for the money and some of the staff seemed unpleasant amd rude but the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating. We will not be returning as much better cavery around the area

Not a very pleasant experience on this visit! How my long list of comments on the poor standards of this establishment wern't shown i don't know! I also had a reply recently via google reviews, apparently from the owner suggesting I telephone the Hollybush to give them the chance to address the issues we experienced on our visit, yet I tried calling the number given several times on different days yet no one answers the phone! Says a lot really!
