They have a great range of beers on draught and always show live sport.

Not happy. Had a drink while choosing from the menu. When I went to order was told the prices advertised were not on the till. When I questioned this the manager asked if I was trying to get a free meal, so insulting.

Way to expensive for a drink atmosphere i though was unbelievable cold. Service was shocking

Great atmosphere here. Ordered breakfast for 2 adults and 3 children. Waited an hour for it. When we got it, it was ok. Busy place. Staff were friencly but could do with a tidy up.

A Cardiff institution. Grade II listed building and it's been a pub since the 19th century. It's an old school pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff (small bar can get very busy though) Does a great pint of Guinness and decent Sunday lunch Men's toilets have thankfully had a little refurb, can still get a bit wet under foot though.

The great Queens Vaults, quite a massive chance since I first stepped foot in there over 30 years ago. Still attracts a good crowd, great selection of food & drink at reasonable prices too. A real gem in the City Centre.

The toilets are a biohazard - the smell permeates the atmosphere. If you like gagging at the stench of urine then this is the place.

Dark, dingy, toilets were a little stinky. Like pubs used to be. I loved it but I imagine it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Most of the staff are lovely, but I've had multiple awful experiences with one of the male staff members in his twenties (I think his name is Ben) who says he's a manager. Extremely obnoxious and rude to my girlfriend on a number of occasions. My friends and a couple of other people have also mentioned similar things about him so I'm guessing he's known for it. Otherwise, a good pub with a few pools tables and a really good selection of still ciders for a decent price. It's such a shame because it used to be a regular spot for myself, my friends and my family, however, I feel so uncomfortable every time he's working now, so I no longer visit.

I had the Sunday Carvery and it was very nice. Not many places do them in Cardiff these days but I'd definitely recommend it here. It's also priced very reasonably.

Six of us met with wives in the Queens Vaults for a get together, it started off very well with a great choice of Drinks, lovely choice on the Juke box by someone in the bar, Then for some reason a young member of staff came to the Juke box and put on around 25 minutes worth of Heavy metal, LOUD !! it drove the other 8 couples sharing a long table with us out of the pub. We stuck it out for another drink, and even considered ordering food, until the same member of staff pulled up a stool in front of the Juke box and selected another load of heavy metal, we didn't stay have our ears assaulted by Metal and thrash at 5,30pm on a Friday evening. The music certainly didn't suit the demographic of the pub, mostly older couples enjoying a few drinks. So there you have it,, good pub, great drinks plenty of room , but 14 money spending punters driven out by one member of staff. wont bother again.. plenty of other bars there.

During this short trip to Cardiff we came twice to this lovely place. The first visit was by chance, as we were simply looking for a place where we could just have lunch on a very busy Sunday, with everything completely full. We managed to find a table and drink a perfectly served Guinness along with a delicious cheese and bacon burger. We loved the place so much, that we returned the following day, for a more quiet and relaxed experience. Quite a vast and good selection of beers, very nice staff, great music and perfect vibe! One of my favourite places in Cardiff.

La primera vez lo encontramos de casualidad, comimos allí y estuvimos tomando unas pintas después de la comida, los camareros fueron muy amables, simpáticos y atentos. La segunda vez que fuimos, ya que nos había gustado del día anterior, estuvimos tomando algo pasando la tarde tranquilamente, con el mismo trato demostrado anteriormente. Si volvemos a Cardiff, volveremos al Queens Vaults seguro.

We wanted to experience a local pub and it happened to be a night Wales we’re playing in the World Cup, so we got to speak to the locals all dressed in their colours supporting their team on for a 2-0 win. So glad we chose this place to have a good meal and beers with friends. We had two mains and drinks for under $30 pounds, which was very reasonable based on our experiences to date. They’d run out of the steaks we wanted but had a very good rump, chips and salad for $10 pound plus our friends had a great pie and chips, although they’d left the label on it 😂 We had a great evening and would definitely go back if in the area again

Went for a few games of pool on a Friday evening. Pleasant enough atmosphere, Drinks served in good time by staff.

A pub that is big on their Guinness branding, TV sport is a permanent fixture, a good choice or drinks on offer.

Great old fashioned pub, food was lovely. The only issue we had was the death metal. Customers are of a mature nature and we're putting money in the jukebox which was lovely easy going music. Was about to put my money in, when a bar staff member put about a tenner in and every song going forward was death metal. I witnessed 6 people leave. I wasn't long behind them. Such a shame.

Excellently situated pub with many original Victorian features. Very large and spacious. Good selection of real ales. Decent enough typical pub grub menu. Dartboard and pool tables. Somewhat rowdy and loud with heavy metal rock vibe and theme going by the music. A good solid traditional no nonsense pub.

Cardiff is being overrun by posh steak restaurants, selling meat per 100g that’s ends up costing have a weeks pay. If Pasture leaves you pissed off & Gaucho makes you grouchy go to the Queen’s Vaults - lovely steak & hand cut chips £9 ! Went today & as always did what’s it said on the tin, big bustling pub so they sell a lot of steak - probably means they get better deals & quality from their butcher .

Havnt been in the queens vaults for over 20 years .Will probaly be another 20 years before I go back Remember it as a Ansells pub then the fly half and firkin. Went in about 11.00am excpecting a quiet drink but pub was pretty full of regulars well on the way Could smell the gents in bar area as doors were left open Heavy metal music was playing on the jukebox Assorted regulars resembled scenes from a Hogarth painting Dunno how the owners allowed it to fall so low as it in central Cardiff opposite the millennium stadium Avoid unless you fancy a laugh

Always love coming here, used to drink here a lot in my younger days and not much has changed except the toilets are nicer. Food was lovely, clear pints, great music and lovely staff.

Quite busy only 2 bar men on, had to wait a little but not the end of the world, made waiting for my Guinness a little more welcoming 😀....

Worst pub in Cardiff. Rude and belligerent staff creating problems that don't exist. Totally spoilt our night out for no reason, such a shame as this pub was extremely handy for us during our short stay, but we will not step foot in there again.

the staff were talking to a customer who was abusive behind my back and joined in. atmosphere was aggressive with groups of males commenting on females in the bar with derogatory conversations had one drink.and didn't even finish it my wife was disgusted and wanted to leave before I said something

Terrible food, we had to clean the table ourselves. Waiters weren’t bothered to move and help us and we had to find our own table as nobody cared to seat us. Chicken wings were horrible they seemed boiled felt like giving them to the birds they were that bad and the sauce was horrible. The steaks were greasy and they got our order wrong. Overall horrible and unclean.

Really disappointed with the attitude by a member of the bar staff last night. I was queuing to get a drink and he totally ignored me. He served people on both sides so I explained I had been waiting. He then accused me of having an attitude and said he wouldn’t serve me. I will spend my money elsewhere in future. Very disappointed.

Really nice dinner. I had a fish and chips, and my dad had a steak which were all very tasty and fairly priced. The salad was very fresh! The thing I didn't particularly liked was their choice of music - they played mostly 2000s Nu Metal and Death Metal which might not appeal to everyone, and the volume was quite loud.

Were early for the coldplay concert looking for somewhere to pass away a few hours, found this pub, dithered because from the outside not the most attractive of inns, however step through the doors and soak up the atmosphere the service and the ambience. This was a great acompanyment to great day. Thank you for your welcome. less than 2 minutes walk to gates 1and2 at the millenium stadium

Poor this time. Grey trees is an excellent beer but not in this place. Truly awful, undrinkable. Exited without finishing the drink. Bar staff could be more welcoming. Loud thrash music again dreadful.

First time visit for me, must have missed it a thousand times. Good atmosphere, good beer. Great jukebox and pool tables. A nostalgic, good old fashioned Cardiff pub.

Miserable service from the guy behind the bar, looked like he would prefer to be anywhere but working here! Nice pub otherwise and busy!

We visited yesterday and caught 2 people in the ladies toilets enjoying some adult aerobics in one of the cubicles 😂 And in the men's toilets, someone had pooped on the toilet seat, floor and up the walls. Brilliant!

Tried two real ales.. Horrible.. They don't know how to look after real ales.

Nice friendly atmosphere big pub

Food served cold, ordered medium steak, and came over cooked grisly and unedible. When reported this to the manager, he was so arrogant and didn't want to know. And refused to refund us for the meals. Wouldn't recommend 1 out of 10 and that's pushing it.

Looks like an old fashioned pub with lots of wood and fabric but deceptively large once inside. Plays sport events in early afternoon but tends to start playing music later on. Music is varied but does have a strong rock/metal focus. A couple of pool tables are available which get plenty of use. The crowd is pretty diverse, and depends on the day but a lot of older people mix with younger patrons although the later it gets the fewer old people are present. It has a good range of drinks and a reasonable menu of your looking for food. Atmosphere is generally friendly and security staff are normally present at busy times. There's a small smoking area outside as well as a few tables for when it's not raining. Whenever I'm in Cardiff city centre and need somewhere relaxed to kill a couple of hours this is invariably where I end up. Jukebox is very good, and it's very friendly to just pop in for a couple on your own which after the last couple of years isn't a given. I recommended the queen's vaults a few years back and can only recommend even more now. Rating updated as appropriate 😀 Popped in for a couple in the new year (to 2022) and still the best bar in town, bar staff great as always.

Was looking for somewhere nice to have food and found this lovely little place, excellent service, lovely staff and the food was delicious! Will definitely visit here again when in Cardiff ❤️ Highly recommended!
