Food was terrible, it was like it had been sat there all day ,but we were there early which made it even worse. Won't be going there again. !!!!!!!..This place has gone down hill fast .🤑🤑🤑🤑

Very very good service from a very polite man named Jake will definitely be back the place looks clean and got no negatives to say about the place. Overall 10/10

Today Friday 14th April 2023. Me and the Mrs went here for lunch today and ordered fish with fries instead of chips and lasagne with a portion of chips. The waitress brought lasagne and my fish with chips not fries and said the portion of chips would be next. I explained that I asked for fries and she said she was sorry that it was her mistake and walked off coming back with the portion of chips to go with the lasagne. I again said I wanted fries not chips and she went off to the kitchen. She returned saying the fries would be there shortly where she picked up the portion of chips and walked off behind the bar. I gave the chips on my plate to the Mrs and the staff were eating the portion of chips behind the bar. I don’t want a refund or free meal but can assure you we will not be returning. This eatery used to be one of the best in Cardiff but what the hell has happened. I suggest everyone reads the reviews before going here.

Amazing Christmas lunch. Definitely recommend.

Lovely evening at the coopers made especially good by the manager mark and elwen who served us with a smile and made us laugh with her friendly banter and cheerful personality.

This was the first Christmas myself and my family had decided to book somewhere for Christmas Day. We had some apprehension about wait times, queues for the carvery, wrong orders etc but we didn’t need to worry. Everything from the initial greet, the table, service, food, everything surpassed expectations (even for the trickier to please of the group!). We all loved it and have all decided that carvery at Coopers on Christmas Day is the way forward. The staff were wonderful, all full of smiles. We truly appreciated all of them for giving up their Christmas so that we could enjoy ours. Thank you team Coopers! We will see you soon!

Had a great experience here,the food is amazing especially the roast potatoes and the vegan food option is the best I have ever had,Jayke went over and beyond for us and was patient as we had some payment issues.i definitely recommend and will be back here with family.

Staff was amazing and attentive. Christmas decorations created great cosy atmosphere. Meat was tasty, but unfortunately all veg were super dry and overcooked.

Just came back from coopers , dear god what an awful experience will never go again. No atmosphere went to bar to place order and drinks not even a smile or hello , nearly £30 for two carvery’s and two cokes , no cutlery on tables and to search around for them , meat looked dry over cooked and fatty , had to small slices of turkey very dry the veg selection was dismal a few over cooked watery burnt sprouts , dried peas burnt roasted potatoes that are so small there like rockets all condiments needed filling, and Luke warm . Wish I hadn’t gone no serving staff anywhere in site . Don’t waste your money you’ll go home still hungry and feel robbed

Long wait at bar, despite 5 people behind it with only 2 tills which could only be used one at a time. Paid £12.79, which includes additional £3 on Sundays. Very poor selection of food at carvery, only choice of turkey or beef, all other meats sold out. Pitiful choice of couple vegetables… spoonful of dried up peas, roughest looking carrots I’ve ever seen, spoonful of dried up potato gratin, mushy cauliflower cheese, red sloppy cabbage 4 roast potatoes and grey mashed potato on offer with luke warm gravy. Very disappointing and not value for money. If we had seen the pathetic Carvery available before paying, we wouldn’t have bothered staying!

best carvery in cardiff, never disappoints! always a fresh range of veggies, and the meat is cooked lovely! staff are very nice and welcoming too :) they also hold events such as drag shows and themed quiz nights which are so much fun! £25 for a 2 course meal and a drag show? Bargain

Clean and tidy pub. Lovely, welcoming staff! Carvery was very good, meat very tender even talking about coming for Xmas.

Popped in for girlie catch up with friends, enjoyed the ultimate chicken burger 🍔😁, service was great, Ceri, Pav and Charlotte on duty, made us feel very welcome and food was fab.

Had a really disappointing experience at Coopers Carvery recently. One of the staff members, who wears glasses and seemed to be foreign, was particularly rude to customers. Their attitude was unprofessional, dismissive, and made the entire visit uncomfortable. This level of disrespect really takes away from the otherwise good food. Management should definitely address this, as it left a bad impression." And it's not the first time we as a family with children have witnessed this behaviour.

Fantastic roast and so simple to book on Line and even order meals and a drink via my phone. Superb!!

Had a great night with friends made all the better by the landlord Mark who went above and beyond with his friendly chat and banter and his great personality plus the staff who made our evening great by making us feel we were valued as customers.

Ordered food from here, travelled for half hour for them to say there was no food left. Do not order with this place. No call to tell us, as we arrived they then told us as we we were dead on time. Disgusting, unprofessional and bang out of order. avoid at all costs if you choose to order food, because you will be turned away- these people had my mobile number but wasted my time, my fuel and my patience. Me and my friends had a great time at the carvery last Wednesday. Haven’t had such good food in ages! The staff were really friendly, Pav helpe d us out with the food since we have some allergies and it made our day. Sian was super attentive too and made us some amazing desserts. We’ll definitely be back and bringing more people with us!

The carvery was nice - the chef gave good quantities if sliced meat, yorkshire puddings were beautiful but the stuffing wasnt the best to be honest. The parking was ample and the atmosphere is chilled. The thing that let this place down is that its a bit grubby - tables and menus were sticky and covered in grime and needed wiping down, bits of food here and there which was quite off-putting - made you think about how your food was being prepared... my husband's glass was filthy. As we left the waitress gave us a warm and friendly goodbye which was nice. personally, i can live with eating in a place that is falling down (hypothetically) as long as the basics are there - clean utensils and food is served hot and promptly. Not bad, could be much better with little effort in my opinion.

The best Sunday cooked dinner I've ever had from a restaurant . Absolutely beautiful and tasted home made , been raving about it to everyone , can't wait for my next one !

Had a lovely carvery last night, great value. Unlimited veg. Options for vegans and vegetarians. Very reasonable prices. Pub was clean and staff were super friendly and helpful, especially Jake who served us. Will be back again 🙂

The staff could have been more attentive. We were waiting for a while by the carvery and staff saw us stood there....a quick polite.. 'we'll be with you in a minute' and 'sorry to keep you waiting' would have been nice. Potatoes were sadly hard in the middle and not cooked through. Was also waiting for gravy to come out which unfortunately meant our food was getting cold whilst we waited.

After a busy week, nice pít stop to study and grab something to eat. Cheese Burger and chips did the job with an Amstel.

Poor girl e has been stuck om the bar for half an hour whilst rhe guy has been sorting glasses no excuse. Que for the bar is 10 people long.

One staff member serving had to wait twenty minutes to get served ridiculous not the staff members fault down to bad management

Lovely friendly staff. They treated you like a friend even though I'd never met them before. Guy behind the bar was lovely also the lady couldn't do enough for us. Think her name was tasha. Went above and beyond. My first time and won't be my last. Lovely place.

Worst £80 ever spent. Go for a carvery the main thing you pay for is the meat,slithers were cut not full piece could see through them. Yorkshire's were stale and tasteless, veg was hard. Tried to save it by ordering dessert 6.50 for a slice of cake then wanted £1 for 1 squirt of cream from a can thats £1 each for cream for each plate. Go to the cedar tree where the food is outstanding and the dessert is not a rip off. I was embarrassed to have brought family here. It's the worst meal out any of us have ever had. I'm baffled how it has any good reviews.

Another lovely visit, we all had Sunday lunch carvery was delicious. OMG the Yorkshire puddings were massive, roast potatoes, so tasty. And really tasty gravy. Friendly staff. Spotlessly clean.

There was apparently an issue with the ticket machine. We placed two separate orders, one order with 2 pints of pepsi max and one order with 1 pint of pepsi max. After 4min the first pepsi max came out and then that was it. We then waited another 25min, food came out and we asked about the other drinks, they said they'd go check. After another 5min we still hadn't heard anything so I got up and went to speak with a member of staff that informed me they had no tickets for it. So we showed our email receipts. Then they came out with one more pepsi max meaning we were still missing one and I had to explain again, it was three of us so yes we had ordered three drinks. Now to the food. I ordered the 8oz steak. It came very dry (I had it medium rare) it was very flavourless and peas were almost shrivelled up so they'd been sitting for a while. My friend had the hunters chicken and had to leave a good chunk of the chicken cause it was dry as a bone. Not a good experience at all and will take a while for us to go back there.

We had a bad time when a drunk person puked as we were about to eat they did not offer to move us as they cleaned up. The place has gone down hill and they are very mean with their meat portions to. We havent been back since.

Firstly we were served by a lad that started to serve someone else half way through sorting my order, ended up asking for the rest of my drinks, I then ordered two dinners and stood waiting knocked on the kitchen door as there was no one serving, I was told by a young lady he was on his way, still stood there, he still didn't come, I made a joke to my husband about self service, she jump down my throat telling me he was on his way and I'd only been waiting for 39 seconds, I was in my way to get a refund when the chef came out, apparently he was on his break, so don't book a table 2.30pm!!! Tbh the chef needs to learn how to cook everything was dry the roasts were rock hard and the gravy was like coloured water!!!!!! Won't be going back!!! As we can our not one member of staff was behind the bar and there were people waiting. The manager didn't do anything about it just carried on cleaning tables as that's all she seemed to do. Staff need some training

Easily booked online, plenty of parking spaces, seen quickly on arrival and seated. Table was cleaned for us and drinks order taken. Got our food swiftly with no issues at all. There was a good choice and all were fresh. Prompt service on paying bill. Would definitely eat here again

Went to coopers carvery tonight, excellent food, great location, fabulous decor,Jake and Gareth were exceptional hosts,went above and beyond in making sure our party were well attended to,would definitely recommend this enticing carvery, and will be attending again very soon

We live in brecon and always stop here for lunch when visting Cardiff. My wife loves the carvery I love the 6oz premium Welsh beefburger, probably one of the best burgers I'd had. Not anymore it's not on the menu and the double " Cowboy " burger I had is the worst burger I've ever tasted. Both thin burgers were burnt/over cooked and nothing like the presentation it used to be. Has it changed owners? It used to be hard to find a car parking space or table, even mid-week but it was almost empty today 09.07.2024 and only 5 cars in the carpark at 13.30! We won't be going back and it looks like we're not the first.

I am reviewing the carvery and would like to say I was happy with the food. It was fresh and tastes better than a lot of carvery that I have been to. I was served by Karl and he did have it waiting for me as I phoned first to make sure it was not closed. Thank you.

Ladies toilets in urgent need of repair . Lock broken in one stall . Toilet seat loose in another . Been like that for weeks.

Went 4a carvery and it was cold and roasties all burnt and hard. Wouldnt go there again.

Popped in with the family and we were more than delighted with our experience. Our server, Elwen, provided perfect service full of conversation, banter and amazing recommendations. Our meals had us practically waddling while leaving, the food was just too good. Especially the turkey. The chocolate fudge cake was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend, will definitely be back again!!!

Just had a wonderful carvery for lunch with my husband. Service was absolutely friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely and everything was nice and clean including bathrooms. I loved how nice and sun you it was as well as how large the are was to allow for a bit of quiet.

Midday Friday went for a carvery. Slow service from staff at the Bar and Meat Station - despite only a handful of customers. Yorkshire Puds cold, stuffing inedible (tough as leather, spat out) Roasties HEAVY on the pepper, carrots still had skin on and barely cooked. Don't eat here, choose elsewhere!

No Ice for cold drinks, no cider, brought starters and mains at the same 😉 they did apologise but when the food came back it was just warm, obviously was just left to warm . Carvery vegetables were not very warm and the Yorkshire pudding was rock hard. We mentioned to the waiter about the veg etc not being very warm but had no acknowledgment from him what so ever, you would expect at least I’m sorry about that. We have been coming here for years but after today’s experience will not be returning. Final thing it mentioned that you scan the qr code and order from the table, when doing that it actually tells you to order from the bar , extremely confusing,

Ive always loved coopers carvery, the foods always been great its a great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and polite tasha and Charlotte were very helpful bringing drinks to our table and doing much as they could for us...id like to say this place is wheelchair friendly and they go above and beyond to help you thank-you and we'll all be back soon

All I have to say is you have 2 absolute assets to your company they go by the names of Tasha & Carys. The service I received was untouchable to any other organisation in a similar category, I've ever been to. Both ladies who I encountered were exceptionally polite and helpful. I asked about allergens and my daughters tolerances and both were so educated on the matter I was quite taken back. The training you guys must put your staff through must be very intense as both girls knowledge really did stand out to my family and I which ultimately prompted this review. Very impressed by your staff members (Tasha & Carys) at Coopers Cavery, Cowbridge road Cardiff. Thank you, will definitely be returning.

Hi all I went to coopers carvery yesterday and must say the food was lovely the beef was divine and at a fair price, the staff were real friendly and helpful, tasha a member of staff there was real helpful and so thoughtful i really enjoyed our time spent there we will be back

Another good carvery meal here...excellent beef and turkey on offer with more vegetable dishes in offer. Very friendly staff .

My family had a lovely dinner at Cooper's Carvery last Friday. We've been to a few carveries, but this one stands out for its incredibly friendly staff. The carvery was hot and full of flavour, and the ice cream sundaes for dessert were delicious. I’ll definitely be back with the family, and I’ll bring friends along too.
