Lovely coffee/pizza shop right by the Llandaff fields...stopped on the way to bus station at Sophia Gardens....lovely cakes,croissants and other goodies on offer...plus pizza and other lunch dishes...Great spot to stop if you're out walking your dog or just want a quick bite to eat...plenty of parking if not walking...staff very friendly!!

Weak, lukewarm hot chocolate even though it was served fresh. Toilet flush didn't work, neither did the hand-dryers

Waited for 15 minutes for two drinks and two mouldy paninis - gross and over priced. People behind the till were lovely but please check the bread before you give it out!

Great location, outdoor seating only. Great variety of food/ drink. Possibly quite expensive but what isn't now. Quick and happy service always The paninis are absolutely delicious, definitely recommend.

Update 23.8.23 - disappointing to receive stale pastries. Close by Pontcanna Fields, great spot to sit outside on a nice sunny day.

Great spot In the corner of the parc. Visited the cafe whilst visiting family. Great menu with loads of choice and fairly priced! Staff where quick and efficient and friendly. Will be visiting next time we are down south Wales.

The treatment of customers is dire while the food/snacks are overpriced and of poir quality. Half empty and barely warm cups of coffee, Pom bears at £1 a packet and hostile staff.

Always friendly and attentive whenever I've been for a flying visit and a quick coffee break. Service with a smile goes along way.

Ordered a latte and a tuna melt panini one busy Saturday during a cycling trip. The result was a very ordinary coffee and a cold tuna spread in a half toasted panini bread. My first and last visit!

Great food and lovely ice cream.

How this isn't one of the best places to go... I don't know. I ordered a off menu cheese and tomato panini with a side of pizza sauce. Owner was happy to oblige. The panini and the sauce were delicious. There was soo much cheese, so delightful and with the sauce... Couldn't beat it. It's covered open air seating in a pay and display carpark, in the park. Perfect for dog walkers and mums with prams. Has toilets. Will definitely be going back there

Excellent value and tasty pizza

I think 'convenient' is a word to describe this place. Come down to the fields on a Saturday to play with your kids, walk your dogs, ride your bike or whatever and this cute little cafe provides a fulsome selection of food and drink for convenient refuelling.

Popped over for a pizza and a couple of kids Hot chocolates and was very happy. Can't remember having better pizza in Cardiff.

Regular Sunday visit.... Great cafe

Pizzas were fantastic and loaded with toppings. It had some seating but you were right by the park so could go elsewhere. Also they had Loos which was great. Only problem was they had run out of donuts. The people in front of us had the last ones they looked delicious.

OK in the summer,, but wrap up warm during a,dry winter s day,, your legs especially,, if you've got a warm blanket in the Car, take it with you. it is a,street Cafe, at the end of the day,, I found the coffee to strong for me, but that's my taste,,,

Lovely cafe at the edge of the park. The staff are super friendly. The food delicious, I had the leek and potato soup (with yummy crusty bread) and he had a tuna and sweet corn jacket potato, supper yummy! The sun was shining, great company, lovely place! Ps. There chocolate chip flapjacks are to die for!

Lovely cafe! The staff are really kind and helpful, the prices are okay, maybe a tad overpriced but I would still definitely recommend that you treat yourself to some of the amazing pizza, chips, ice-cream, sandwiches and hot drinks that they offer - the pizza really is to die for! ❤️

I only stopped by to grab a coffee on my ride but the place was really nice and friendly. The coffee could do with being a little cooler, it took 3 working days to cool enough to drink! They do food, which I haven't tried but I saw people had ordered the pizza specifically to collect and go, which speaks for itself I guess. The only thing I would have liked was for the outdoor seating to be a bit more welcoming. They had some padded bench seats and things, but it could be really nice with some extra cushions and plants

This is the second time I’ve visited this cafe and the man working there has been directly rude. He was approached by someone listening that he wasn’t very nice and he told her to shut up. He made me feel so uncomfortable, last time I’ll be buying from there. Doesn’t even deserve a 1 star.

We went walking today and got a bit cold and damp, it was so good to find this popular cafe open and busy. The service was excellent and the food was fresh and well presented, the best cup of tea I’ve had for a while, it might not seem important to some businesses ;but the drinks are as important as the food.

It gets busy. If you’re after food that’s heated up like a pasty etc, make sure it’s warmed through before heading off. Cold food in the centre isn’t the best. Had happened to us a couple of times. Normally when the grumpy older chap is there. Not much chit chat. Wants you to order quick and get away. Bit of a lottery with coffee whether the beans are burnt or not. Started going to the bakery about a 1 minute down the road. Quicker service, better coffee, better food. And always with a smile.

It's nice. They do hot drinks and a range of fresh food. Pizzas mainly. The quality is pretty good but I found it a bit expensive considering it us essentially a kitchen and a sales hatch. They have no restaurant area to manage yet they charge restaurant prices Still, it seems popular so maybe I'm just a bit out of tune with the times.

Reasonable coffee. The staff need some customer service training-they behave like they're doing you a favour allowing you to pay for their stuff.

Good coffee, great hotdogs and pizza, fast service

Signage clearly displays open till 4.00pm. Arrived at 3.45 with 2 children for ice cream to be advised by middle aged frumpy woman with glasses that cafe was now closed as had queue of 2 people in front of us that would take over 15 mins to serve. Stressed we only wanted 2 ice creams and queue would easily be served within next 5 mins. Still refused service. Got back in my car with 2 cryng children and drove past at 3.57 where there was no queue just staff looking to get away for early finish. Have been regular of the cafe for many years but wont be back!! In time of supporting Welsh hospitality sector seems strange that local business is turning away income. Treat customers like this and you wont survive!!

I enjoyed a coffee in the sun in the cafe today.However not so enjoyable using the disabled toilet facilities.They were un clean,floor slippery & a hazard.As someone with a disability i found this unacceptable.I suggest you ammend this asap before an accident happens.

Food always lovely. Nice friendly staff. Nice place to ago after a walk with your dogs ,because they are welcome there too. They also put water out for pets. So no need to carry any with you .

My regular weekend breakfast spot and occassional lunch stop (the pizzas, oh the pizzas!), Cafe Castan will be one of the eateries I shall miss most when I leave Cardiff after my 18 month stay. Friendly staff, great good, stunning location!

We were just looking for an easy place to grab some food on a Sunday walk and stopped by here. Was initially taken aback by the price (£8-10) per pizza but after ordering two of the 'mixed pizzas' where you choose two of your own toppings we were pleasantly surprised. Ingredients felt so fresh and despite a 10/15 minute wait, food was hot and very tasty! We will certainly be coming here again. Looking forward to trying the ice cream next time!

Go here quite often , always great service, friendly staff. No matter what the weather, it's always a pleasure. Food is always fresh, hot and delicious, we always eat there when out. A firm favourite with the gentlemen I support - staff are very accommodating to our needs.

This cafe’s opening times do change but seems to be due to weather, and certain days like Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve etc - Which is totally understandable as they are open more a less everyday. As living near by and being a regular customer and dog walker, I can honestly say this cafe takes far too much undeserved abuse off irrational customers. For example I walked past the cafe earlier today with my dog, and heard this woman verbally abusing the staff. The staff were trying to calm and reason with her but the louder and louder she got. I only found out when passing another regular customer that the reason for this woman’s reaction was because they were closing early for New Year’s Eve...and ran out of pizza dough! I mean...come on! some people need to calm down, so much for the festive spirit! Also this cafe is very dog friendly as they offer dog water on the side and free dog biscuits which my dog Basil lovvvves!! And they make amazing pizza!!!

Conveniently located at the southern corner of Sophia Gardens, this is the perfect stopping off place during your park and walk into the City Centre or after your healthy run or walk in the delightful open space. Lovely simple meals served with a smile. Great value for money.

Disabled toilet was full of furniture, and was told we couldn't use them. Then was told to wait fifteen minutes. After a lot of huffing, and 3 seconds later he pulled out a few tables and a stack of chairs. Shame, as we normally have lunch there. Won't be going again.

Always friendly and welcoming staff. A simple choice of grilled sandwiches, pizzas and paninis, with a good choice of vegetarian options. All hot food is freshly prepared to order and they have a selection of pasties, sausage rolls and pastries. Situated in the Old bus terminus turning circle at Llandaff Fields/Pontcanna. It has sheltered outdoor seating areas and indoor seating (if the rain is too heavy)! It overlooks Llandaff Fields and is a bit of peace and quiet on the edge of the City. Parking is free for the first two hours and on weekends (I think).

What a disgrace.. after buying 2 coffees which were not great. I asked for a drop of water for my old dog. I had my own bowl. Was refused. Was told the owner doesn't like it. Will never buy from them again. All the customers at the time I was there had dogs. Even though I visit the park next to it a lot. If I cod have put a 0 rating I would have. Disgraceful...

Pedimos 2 cafés. Tuve que devolverlos ya que eran realmente fuertes. El segundo lote aún no era bueno.La guinda del pastel fue cuando mi compañero pidió agua para nuestro perro. Estaba absolutamente asombrado de que le dijeran que no. Con incredulidad, volví al mostrador y me dijeron que "al dueño no le gusta" y me dieron a regañadientes una pequeña cantidad de agua en mi propia botella.Todos los clientes sentados con bebidas tenían perros. Creo que realmente necesitan abordar su actitud. Nunca les daré otro centavo

Went to an established Italian restaurant in town yesterday. And their pizzas don't come close to these Guy. Sorry. To these Ladies. Chicken and parma ham today, bloody gorgeous. 🥘👍
