We visited on Friday as we could see there was an offer for 2 for 1 fish and chips and oh my, can I just say we were not disappointed. We had 2 massive portions of fish and for only £13.95 we could not complain. We will definitely be returning in the future for any other offers and highly recommend anyone else to visit this wonderful establishment.

Chose Chateau Rhianfa for our family’s Father’s day lunch celebration, and we really couldn’t have chosen a more perfect location. Our meal could not have been more delicious, and the presentation and value for money (£30 for a choice of three courses) was top-notch!! Oh and everyone in our party (7) received a free pint to celebrate Father’s Day!! Highly recommended.

I wanted a small snack. The ready made baguette type looked nice and two prices were given, an eat-in and an eat-out. Separately hot food was also available. The meat bap which was what i decided to have was priced at £6.50. Only one price was given. Beef was the only meat left but this looked dried however it as my only choice si i had a brown cob. To moisten it up i asked for gravy but they had none. I said that i would have onions but i could hardly taste these on the cob. I also asked for mustard expecting to be give some to put it on but i later found that it had been put on by the staff and was insufficient. I was asked if i would eat in or take out and i said that i would eat in as i also wanted a coffee. I only drink oat milk in my coffee but was told that they didn’t have any. When i went to pay the bill it had gone up from £6.50 to £7.40 was told that was the eat out price however there was no indication on the food item that the higher price applied. I complained in a pleasant way that no other price had been displayed but the comment i received from the female staff member was that a eat-in price was charged. When I said that no other price was shown on the item the staff member repeated that a eat-in price applied. I repeated my original complaint but again the same answer was given. The staff member seemed to be totally unconcerned that i was not happy with the transaction and offered no further explanation. At this point I gave up. If you decide to eat here make sure that you know how much you are going to be charged. I will not be eating here again.

I note the good reviews of this cafe & can only think our experience was very different as it is the end of the season! However, if you are open then your service whilst reduced should still be good. Lots of items on blackboard but nothing available except a few pieces of cake & drinks. No alternative milk which is really not acceptable. Cafe was scruffy, tables very wobbly, floor unswept and toilets not good either. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Apparently I ordered a Pint of Bitter whilst in Shotton from Wrexham ... 13 miles a way which is impossible to do on the app as it always defaults to the JDWs your actually ordering in. Long discussions followed and I was completely blanked by the duty manager who said I'd need to take it up with Wrexham. Not her problem apparently !! Why ?? A regular but on this occasion disappointed by Duty Manager response to a genuine complaint.

Very disappointed with the service in the restaurant today. The food is usually very good but the customer service needs addressing. Having ordered a bacon and sausage toasted sandwich only sausage was delivered to my table. I returned the food to the counter and it was taken away without a word of apology and then firstly checked in front of me on the till, (as if disputing what I had ordered), taken back to the kitchen where a slice of bacon was plonked on the top and returned to my table without a word of apology. Someone there needs additional training in Customer service as usually most of the staff are very courteous.

Small menu but enough for what we needed. We all enjoyed it and a couple of vegetarian options for two members of our group. Just a little disappointed that the cafe was closed at around 3pm when we got back from our walk as a nice hot chocolate would have been welcome on a cold , blustery afternoon

Arriving on a dark damp evening I entered a beautiful welcoming hallway. I loved the cosy public rooms with roaring fires and an honesty bar. I was quickly relaxing in a squishy sofa with my book and a glass of wine. The bedroom was stylishly furnished and the bed super comfortable The cooked breakfast was superb and set me up for my hike up Snowdon

In the past I’ve enjoyed some great events - live rugby internationals gatherings and big fun family birthday parties. However, the last three recent occasions this year I’ve been shocked at the sheer lack of any real ale! Not a single draught pump - just an offering of tasteless gassy 1970’s style John Smith’s! Sorry but won’t be returning as plenty of other pubs offering decent ale nearby.
