Chose Chateau Rhianfa for our family’s Father’s day lunch celebration, and we really couldn’t have chosen a more perfect location. Our meal could not have been more delicious, and the presentation and value for money (£30 for a choice of three courses) was top-notch!! Oh and everyone in our party (7) received a free pint to celebrate Father’s Day!! Highly recommended.

The chateau is a hidden gem and needs marketing as it is truly captivating in both location and style . The food at this restaurant was beautifully presented, was of high quality and was imaginative, and cooked to perfection , such a shame there was only ourselves (couple ) and one other couple dining . The staff were friendly and attentive , professional without being overbearing. This stunning hotel needs marketing as a fine dining restaurant not just a hotel , I have eaten in several places in Anglesey as it is my home and this is one of the best ! Please please management you must get this restaurant marketed as I believe most people will just drive past thinking it is just a hotel ( that has just won wedding venue of the year for North Wales ) . It is waiting to be discovered as a fine restaurant.. Treat yourself and book will not be disappointed x

Perfectly edible but not the treat I was expecting. Broadly absent staff, cheap butter in wrappers, salt and pepper in packets, mediocre wines by the glass. I can’t imagine how this ever won an award.

I was a bit worried about how the food would go as we had seen some varying reports of the restaurant, but I can only assume that the chefs must have recently changed as our meals were absolutely fantastic. The staff definitely seemed a little new, but everyone is new sometimes so this didn't bother us. Given we were staying at the hotel it didn't matter if things sometimes took a little longer, as we only had to go upstairs to reach our beds. The food itself was to die for. I could have paid 3x as much in a nice restaurant in London for this food and still would have been happy with it. There was not a single fault in any of the food or wine we had. The normal restaurant room was closed (not sure why) and they served us in the banquet hall instead, but honestly I think the banquet hall was much more impressive than the images I've seen of where the restaurant normally is. When you're staying in a castle why would you want to eat in a normal room when you could eat in a spacious hall with enormous windows and stunning views of the water?

Slight delay in reviewing my evening but I seriously had no idea how to tackle it. This Grade II listed building and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and the banquet room where two rosette Le Dragon Rouge restaurant is together with well thought out menu gives you an instant feeling of an extraordinary culinary experience about to happen. But unfortunately that’s not what happens next…. Firstly I’m not even sure if I have booked myself into Le Dragon Rouge, are there perhaps two different restaurants at the Chateau that I was not told about? Would definitely explain why my experience was so different from everything I read about it. Starters: Wild mushroom on toast, poached egg - burnt bread/tasteless mushroom/badly poached egg Crevette & Crispy Squid Chowder - pretty much a bowl of sweet double cream with no seafood flavour Mains: Pan fried haddock, broccoli, peas, minted new potatoes, chive butter sauce - first dish with a bit of a flavour, shame all I could taste was salt on a smallest fillet of haddock possibly found in the Irish Sea Cockle & Smoked Mackerel baked paella, Laverbread butter, Parmesan chives - sounded exciting on paper, ended up being a plate of lacking flavour rice Dessert: Coconut & Lychee Cheesecake - a bowl of runny mascarpone cheese with biscuit crumbles and few strawberries on top. Disappointment of the year! I really wish I could be more positive about my dining experience Chateau Rhianfa, especially that I’ve booked it as my birthday treat (absolutely no recognition from the restaurant staff) but unfortunately if you’re looking for fine dining please look elsewhere.

First the good. The food that was served was decent. The choice was very limited. Only a set, TDH menu with basically, steak, fish or veg. And over priced for what was available. It's a long way from a fine dinning experience and it seems the good chefs have left for other establishments. The restaurant feels like it's in a back room, with no view of the grounds or the waterfront and is rather tired, bordering on tatty rather than old world charm. The service was unusual despite an obvious management presence, too many little things wrong to list here but not what you expect from a hotel with pretensions of grandeur. It wasn't busy so no excuses for not having basics in place. Staff were pleasant but we felt at times as though we were an inconvenience, questions about what time we had booked for (but it wasn't a problem to dine at that time), bar not stocked - no Prosecco so had to go and find a bottle, no soup spoon and an awkward conversation asking if there was one (and ended up using desert spoon which is fine until it comes to desert!) I hope improvements can be made, a new chef with a proper menu and trained staff would make a big difference.

Visited here for my mums and dads wedding anniversary. We had the £40 per person menu which included canapes, breads, starters, amuse bouche, mains, pre dessert and dessert which was wonderful value for money. The food was wonderful if slightly pretentious on the menu. I had the pea and toffee soup to start with a small cheese and herb scone which was all delicious. The pre-starter artisan breads with soy butter were also delicious, very creamy and unique butter! The amuse bouche was a melon and apple soup. I had the hake with pasta, scallops, cockles and samphire for my main. It was all very nice although didnt feel like a dish that came together, just very nice individual items. My mum had the welsh lamb which looked wonderful. The pre dessert of elderflower doughnuts were gorgeous and delicate. I had the arctic roll for desert, the pistachio ice cream was lovely but the roll itself wasnt anything special. My dad had the chocolate and cherry dessert which was very rich but yummy. The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was a little lacking with only 3 tables in the restaurant. There had been a wedding on earlier which meant that there was an hour wait between arriving and receiving our breads but service was very quick after this. Would reccomend chateau rhianfa, maybe not this restaurant which seemed a little small and lifeless but the rest of the building and other dining rooms are magnificent!

We loved the food but we did not enjoy the evening as we were placed in a dining room which was small dark and dingy and with nobody else. I know it is a lovely Victorian building, but our dining room was full of dark wood and horrid Victorian paintings of portraits of dogs in period costumes , just to add to the depressing lack of ambience. Guess it depends on your personal taste but sadly we did not enjoy it. Food was lovely, expensive and small and the various amuse bouches very delicious. Lamb was very very pink and we did ask for it be cooked a little more and this was no trouble for them and done with grace. The fish dish was delicious but sadly very little vegetables with anything.

Our meal was beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The restaurant overlooks the Menai Straits, so there are great views from the window tables.

Excellent food and service just missing attention to detail. Needs better supervision of the staff by management.

Four of us dined at the Chateau, and had a wonderful time. From spotting the smoking dragon that greets you from the road, to entering through the huge medieval-looking door, we knew we were in for an exciting evening. The building is frankly ridiculous, in...

We stayed at the hotel and it was lovely...really pleased but so very disappointed with the food which arrived as tiny portions, and my pork loin was incredibly salty so much so I couldn't finish it. When I asked for a portion of vegetables for...

My daughter took me for mothering sunday. The Chateau is beautiful and the grounds are lovely. There are lots of steps and stairs so not ideal for those with disabilities and mobility issues. The meal was wonderful and could not fault it. Staff were fantastic....

Doesn't look much from the car park. Go through the arch to the beer garden, it's like the wardrobe to Narnia. Open fronted glamping pod, table in a boat, an unbelievable Hobbit house, fully furnished, with books in a bookcase. Go down the steps to the garden terrace overlooking the bay. Comfy and sheltered seating, with stunning views. Is dog friendly too. The beer is no worse a price than tourist places. And is a decent pint. Ignore the naysayers. It's a very pleasant place for relaxing with a drink. We will be returning.
