We booked here for christmas day dinner at a cost of £80 a head, which in my opinion is very reasonable on christmas day, but what we received was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival we purchased drinks and shown to our table which was far from festive, basically a plastic fold out table in the back room which I've been told isn't normally used with a white cheap paper tablecloth a knife , fork and a serviette. I told the waitress we were still waiting on 2 of our guests to arrive , as they arrived and before they even had chance to sit down our starters were at the table, once they we're eaten the plates were taken away and within a minute our mains had arrived, food tasted like it had been cooked and left under a heat lamp, dry, tasteless and very very poor. We complaint about our service and fiid but was basically told that they'd worked very hard and gad had nothing but praise about there service on christmas day. We have recently been made aware of atleast 4 different families who have made a complaint about the day, one of which walked out and refused to pay and another a family of 6 which 4 of them sent there mains back and didn't want them back. Total shambles of a day and horrendous service. And my main gripe is the following day when I went back to complain about the day and get my £50 that they'd over charged me one of the owners (which i didn't know at the time) actually stood there and let me complain to a young girl who works there and let her apologise and say she'd pass our complaint to the boss. Totally spineless. Avoid this place at all costs.

This is a great place for an informal meal, or a quick refreshment break. Not only is the menu imaginative and varied, but the opening hours are longer than is usual in a coffee shop type establishment. On our last visit we enjoyed a light lunch of home-made soup. We regularly stop off for a coffee but can rarely resist the appeal of the cakes. With artwork displayed on the walls inside, and information leaflets about visitor attractions, it's quite a community hub. There is a large outdoor seating area where dogs are welcome. In our experience service is usually efficient, though it can be a little slow during busy times.

Awful hotel. Dirty, smelt. Basics missing from room. Disability access was shocking! Wheelchair user needed to climb 6 steps to room. Chef quit during dinner as all sending meals back as we're cold.

Under the new auspices of Sophie (Crewe) the Red is now a truly Community pub. It is very welcoming and serves excellent reasonably priced beers ( Carlsberg £4 a pint) Good luck Sophie I hope you get the support you deserve. Best wishes

Breakfast was simply very poor. Toast which had obviously been kept warm in the oven. The scrambled eggs was just that, nothing but eggs. The sausage had more wrinkles than a stewed prune, again kept hot for hours if not re-heated from yesterday. A nice cup of coffee was the only saviour. That said, it’s not the first time breakfast has been poor but today was the last visit to eat.

Don’t we all love a spoons? Had a lot of good times in the north and south bank spent with friends. Very good value and the food is surprisingly nice. Sometimes the queue can be edging on the ludicrous on a Saturday night but that’s the same with everywhere. The only real downside is that it isn’t open 24/7!

Hotel Closed - the hotel is closed due to a boiler issue, didn’t bother to call ahead. We sat outside of the hotel for an hour trying to ring them. Finally managed to get through and turn out the hotel has been closed for 3 weeks - cannot understand why they didn’t call ahead to let us know.

A really nice diner with simple good food for a quick lunch. Excellent cheese and onion toasties with a mug of tea....just what we needed. And very smart toilets.

Avoid this restaurant worst food i've ever experienced, stayed at the hotel for two nights due to attending a funeral at the hotel so obviously on checking in we wanted to eat dinner. I ordered Chicken Kiev with Caesar salad & fries my partner had Belly Pork both were inedible complained and was offered 10% off the bill. Breakfast wasn't much better very disappointing as hotel & staff were very nice. We ate out on our second night really don't know how this place gets 4*

The booking was continually messed up. Full payment was demanded well in advance and I can see why. I don't think anyone in our group would have felt happy to pay full price on the day. It was more like a poor school dinner than a restaurant meal. My main meal was served cold, the potatoes were inexplicably leathery. The "roulade" was dry. How long had it stood on the side sliced I wonder? The large slab of paté balanced on a chewy piece of erm...bread? (Was it bread? Had it been microwaved? How was it this bad?) was truly revolting. Unsurprisingly at no point were any of us asked if our meal was satisfactory. I would describe service as sullen. Will not return here again. Always unpleasant to give a bad review but sometimes these restaurants need calling out, because sometimes they really are stretching their customers goodwill beyond their limits.

We were staying locally and usually eat at the Golden Lion in Rossett but as we were here for a few extra days we popped in to try the Alyn as well. Parking's very limited but helpfully there was a sign directing us to the public carpark slightly further down the road. It's nice and bright inside, with welcoming staff. We went for the two course deal and had plenty to choose from. Food arrived fairly quickly, nice and hot and well presented. Dessert took a little longer but the light, fruit crumble was cooked to order. Good value and nice surroundings - we've now got too good placeson our list for eating out when we stay in Rossett.
