This the worst dinner experience I've had. I booked for Saturday evening. The place was practically empty for a Saterday evening, I was about to find out why. Very limited choice of drinks, even though there was at least 8 beer pumps on the bar, the cider came out of a lager. The lager ran out after 1 and1/2 pints. We wanted some wine, we had to go behind the bar to select a bottle. They had no wine glasse. I bought my friend a whisky, there was some foreign body in the whisky. They just poured the whisky into even more dirtier glass. We ordered steak, and ale pie. The pie was just some weak gravy with 4 small pieces of meat floating in it, with a small piece of puff pastry floating on top of it. I asked to see the manger, he or she would not come out to see me, so my complaints were ferried by the bar staff to the manager. Some customers children inside the pub were treating the place like a playground screaming and running around. I was expecting the staff to say something, they didn't. When I complained to the staff, they just replied, "that family is going soon".. This pub used to be one of best in the area when it was a community pub. It's still in a great location. We had a refund for the food.

This is a great place for an informal meal, or a quick refreshment break. Not only is the menu imaginative and varied, but the opening hours are longer than is usual in a coffee shop type establishment. On our last visit we enjoyed a light lunch of home-made soup. We regularly stop off for a coffee but can rarely resist the appeal of the cakes. With artwork displayed on the walls inside, and information leaflets about visitor attractions, it's quite a community hub. There is a large outdoor seating area where dogs are welcome. In our experience service is usually efficient, though it can be a little slow during busy times.

Don’t we all love a spoons? Had a lot of good times in the north and south bank spent with friends. Very good value and the food is surprisingly nice. Sometimes the queue can be edging on the ludicrous on a Saturday night but that’s the same with everywhere. The only real downside is that it isn’t open 24/7!

Hotel Closed - the hotel is closed due to a boiler issue, didn’t bother to call ahead. We sat outside of the hotel for an hour trying to ring them. Finally managed to get through and turn out the hotel has been closed for 3 weeks - cannot understand why they didn’t call ahead to let us know.

A really nice diner with simple good food for a quick lunch. Excellent cheese and onion toasties with a mug of tea....just what we needed. And very smart toilets.

So disappointed. Booked in for 1pm Carvery was 12-2. Went with 23 others. Booked well in advance so we'll aware of our party size. Poor choice. Poor communication. Poor customer service. Poor staff qualities very dismissive of needs. Contact the hotel and basically get accused of lying. Offer 25% off a family of 4 as a ""good will"" gesture wanting us to spend £60 in order to get £20 off. I wouldn't send the dog there for lunch.

Very disappointed with the service in the restaurant today. The food is usually very good but the customer service needs addressing. Having ordered a bacon and sausage toasted sandwich only sausage was delivered to my table. I returned the food to the counter and it was taken away without a word of apology and then firstly checked in front of me on the till, (as if disputing what I had ordered), taken back to the kitchen where a slice of bacon was plonked on the top and returned to my table without a word of apology. Someone there needs additional training in Customer service as usually most of the staff are very courteous.

The booking was continually messed up. Full payment was demanded well in advance and I can see why. I don't think anyone in our group would have felt happy to pay full price on the day. It was more like a poor school dinner than a restaurant meal. My main meal was served cold, the potatoes were inexplicably leathery. The "roulade" was dry. How long had it stood on the side sliced I wonder? The large slab of paté balanced on a chewy piece of erm...bread? (Was it bread? Had it been microwaved? How was it this bad?) was truly revolting. Unsurprisingly at no point were any of us asked if our meal was satisfactory. I would describe service as sullen. Will not return here again. Always unpleasant to give a bad review but sometimes these restaurants need calling out, because sometimes they really are stretching their customers goodwill beyond their limits.
