Just had the most amazing dining experience at Oscars. Meal was outstanding, full of flavours and looked inviting on the plate. Considering a wedding was also in same venue there was no problem with timings and did not have to wait. Would recommend and will visit again.

Pretentious trying to be fancy yet Very Poor and definitely not value for money. Nothing freshly made other than the steak which for £25 is laughable as you get a small cheap piece of meat swimming in grease, a small mushroom and a small bowl of soggy chips. The whole meal looked pathetic and didn’t taste good. A sad night

As I said at the beginning the service and Meals were excellent and we will be going back again. Thanks to all the staff.

We were gifted afternoon tea here as a Christmas present so we chose a date to coincide with our first anniversary. Unfortunately this was not possible due to C19 so we eventually managed to contact someone and rearranged for last weekend. We had no idea what to expect and when we arrived it looked like it wasn’t even open. We went inside and after waiting several minutes a member of staff appeared and their first words were “have you got your voucher” We were left to find our own table. Tea and coffee were promptly served and shortly after sandwiches and cakes arrived. Other guests arrived and were left waiting before they were seen to. I wasn’t blown away by anything and certainly didn’t feel it was a celebration. Since returning home I was asked to leave a review of my experience of afternoon tea with a glass of fizz. Fizz????!!!! We certainly weren’t offered a glass of anything, other guests were! Left feeling very disappointed after this.

This has to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Took my husband for his birthday on boxing day evening. On arrival there only 2 tables occupied didn't think much of it. We where shown to our table by the barman who was also waiting on our table. The food was awful seemed like it had been on the hotplates allday it was warm tasteless and presentation was non existant. Soon realized why the restraunt was empty .needless to say will not be returning.

Had the most lovely meal last Sunday for Father’s Day. In superb surroundings, the dining room was clean and bright, and the service was first rate. A good choice of drinks and a well rounded choice of food, we’ll presented and tasted great with beautifully risen Yorkshire pudding, meat that was cooked perfectly and a good selection of vegetables. It was hot and appetising. We were offered a selection of sauces and when I asked for a little extra gravy it was given quickly and politely. I couldn’t fault the starter or main course. We were offered water and it was served in a bottle slightly chilled. First class all round.

The restaurant was really nicely decorated and the tables were well spaced. We had the Mothers day Menu which was good value. The roast beef dinner was lovely - tender beef, cooked well and served with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. Whilst I didn't have a pudding, others on my table did and they looked delicious. The cheese board was generous. The service was a little hit and miss but overall the staff were pleasant and were all working very hard to attend to the tables. They even gave a package of chocolates to each mother on the table which I thought was a nice touch.

We preordered all the food so no problems? We arrived as agreed at 12.30pm and after a chat taken to our Tables 10 mins later starters arrived, all but one which took a further 10 mins (pre ordered) There were 2 other large table but this is a restaurant. After clearing our starters we watched the other table being served Mains then there Deserts. After crashing numourous occasion being informed all meal are cooked to order. As the other table desert was being cleared 2 hours 20 mins our mains arrived. Appalling tepid been under a heat lamps disgusting, the cauliflower chees was so dry you could hold it upside down and again one Meal arrived not even on the menu and as before one meal shot short which had to be chased.

Some years ago this was a really lovely place to enjoy good food. Sadly, although the outside appearance is attractive and tempting, once inside it's clear they are doing everything 'on the cheap'. I visited recently when an afternoon tea had been organised for a medium sized party. To be fair they did refill plates as they emptied but the choice of sandwiches which was limited to something fishy (not sure what), a single slice of wafer thin ham sandwich and cheese and chutney which again was very thin, devoid of taste, resulted in these plates never emptying. We all had a fab time because it was a very special occasion for meeting up with family and friends spending time together and it was brilliant to have the room dedicated for our use. One of the previous reviews described it as a 'shame' and I agree. This venue has huge potential, it once was great. Come on, get your act together and make this place wonderful again. I believe the rooms are fab so up the game on the restaurant and try to catch up with the wonderful food at Golden Lion next door and MH across the road !!

Nice looking place. But lacking any atmosphere. But it was a Monday evening so not very busy. We were a birthday party of 10 . We all had the special offer £12.95 for the two course meal. We were shown to our table. By a blonde haired girl who was not very bothered. And don't ask any of us if we needed drinks. At this point if it had not been a birthday party I would have walked out. All the water glasses on the table were dirty and my knife and folk were stuck to the table. As was the menu.. Is this one of the reasons they only have a 4 on there hygiene score. Our order was taken. Again the waitress did not ask if we would like any drinks. Most of us ordered the same off the menu, pate then the chicken. One of our party had a main off the main menu. £13.95 for some sort of chicken dish. The starter was small with just two cold small slices of sweet bread. For the pate. The main and this is were they are taking the Mick. 9 small chips stacked 1/4 of a plain grilled chicken breast. Three grease onion rings and a small amount of salad. And this is the best, it came served on and old nasty wooden chopping boards. Covered in cut marks. This did not go down to well with the party. The chicken dish that was ordered off the main menu was almost just as small. We asked for sauce. Which came as one pot to go between 10 of us.and a vinegar bottle with no stopper. Again not asked for drinks by the blonde haired waitress. the boards were cleared by a nice waitress with long dark hair . And she asked if we would like drinks. As she took are sweet order. All the sweets when they came were very small for £5.25.my poached pair and treacle tart was revolting. this was confirmed by the new chef and was also informed that this was the old chefs menu.I Was offered a free replacement. But I just had a latte and a baileys. Coffee was just warm. More like half a pint of brownish milk. My £3.80 baileys. Had three tiny bits of ice, had to ask for more ice. Also had to ask barman to stop holding our drinks glasses by the the top of the glasses.and the poor boy had no idea how to make a liquor coffee, All in all the management of this place is very poor. And badly under trained staff. The new chef had to use the old chefs food. Why. If they want to know where all their customers have gone. Their at the pub down the road which was packed.

We are treated to a lunch at Christmas each year by an elderly friend so we did not feel able to send food back or make a complaint .There was only one other table occupied and they departed quite soon, so atmosphere was absent. Very little choice on menu - the two men had turkey dinner and I opted for fish and chips, with "posh peas" - not my usual choice of food but seemed better than beef pie or sausages. Posh peas were mushy peas with a few garden peas mixed in.The turkey dinners appeared ok, but my fish dish was dire. The chips had been precooked and were tough and leathery; the fish was in a thick, rather greasy batter which also seemed to have been reheated. For dessert the men chose Christmas pudding: this was a micro portion with some sauce and served in an enormous dish! I chose " chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce served with pistachio icecream".This ranked as the worst pudding I have experienced - and I love puddings! The brownie was 4 tiny cubes of pale fawn cake laid in a line and with tiny balls of green icecream in between. The "chocolate sauce" was yellow custard at one side. Not only was it a weird interpretation, but the icecream was a rather horrid mixture of mint with pistachio, with the mint appearing to have been melted at some time and then refrozen - it was hard and with solid, fatty consistency. I reckon they had run out of nearly all items and just cobbled together a very strange and unappetising plate! The best food was the parsnip soup which was a very nice flavour, but only lukewarm and served with a half bread batchcake.Coffee was a fair strength, but again was lukewarm. A most peculiar meal indeed! I have to say that my husband and I enjoy all sorts of dining and are usually very easy to please - but Oscars is extraordinarily awful!

We both had Turkey dinner, the meat was ok, however the French green beans were grossly undercooked , the cauliflower just cooked, the carrots passable, the stuffing was raw, the roast potatoes reheated in MW, the meal was something to be expected in a backstreet budget pub, not a restaurant attached to a hotel such as the rossett hall hotel, the cost £11.00 I'd put it's worth at £4.95. Avoid and use the pub across the road !!!

We arrived around 6.30 after making last minute decision to eat out. We were greeted at the entrance and offered drinks at the bar or at a table. Our starters were very good but we did have quite a wait for our mains to arrive (40 mins)My partner had fish and chips which looked and tasted very good. My meal however which was hake with chorizo risotto was extremely poor. The fish was very good but the rice which was minus the chorizo tasted like it was cooked in soapy water and really let the dish down. I pointed my issue out to the waiter who took the meal to the kitchen for the chef to try. He returned from the kitchen and admitted there was a problem with the risotto and was very apologetic. I could not fault the way (Paul) the waiter dealt with the situation and we left after paying a reduced bill feeling happy with the customer service we received but slightly disappointed with the food!! Would maybe give another chance!

We found this place on the internet after arranging to meet a friend who was near for lunch. The website tempted us with the promise of a new and improved restaurant with a top new chef. When we arrived, the restaurant looks beautiful and very high end, and on entering the restaurant its the same. Lovely set up, nice tables and lovely decoration. However we were shocked that at 1pm there was no other diners, and it soon became apparent why.We were seated immediately, but had to wait forever to be offered a drink and a menu, and when we were, we were told they had no prawns and no ham, and on an already limited menu, didnt leave us with much choice. However, we made our choices, were then told they had no bloomer bread for the sandwich I ordered, and then waited a ridiculous amount of time for our food considering we were the only people there! When the food eventually did arrive it was such a dissapointment! Our friend had steak and ale pie which looked great and he said tasted nice. My fiance had fish and chips which again looked ok, but was 'nothing special'. Mine was terrible, having not had any bloomer bread I was given a sandich with 3 layers of thick white bread with the odd slither of fatty, chewy, 'steak' inside. No sauce, no seasoning just slathered in butter. The chips were even worse, without a shadow of a doubt frozen oven chips! Surely chips are basic?!It really is such a shame, being set in such a beautiful area and looking so lovely both inside and out, so much more could be done with this place. We will definitely not be returning!

The almon was declared to be excellent, although I thought one was rather under cooked. The beef was good with a huge yorkshire pudding. This pub is no longer an Indian Restaurant/ Pub It has been taken over by a very reputable company and is being run brilliantly by Nancy Jones and her under manager Gemma. Mike has been kept on because of his excellent input. The pub has been rejuvenated since the new regime , and now is a truly Community pub. I have been regularly using this pub for 52 years and have not seen it this good since the days of the Moores and Bob and Sue. Good luck to the new management and roll on when the kitchen re-opens even if it’s only for bar snacks.

Don’t we all love a spoons? Had a lot of good times in the north and south bank spent with friends. Very good value and the food is surprisingly nice. Sometimes the queue can be edging on the ludicrous on a Saturday night but that’s the same with everywhere. The only real downside is that it isn’t open 24/7!

Great service prices seem to have increased though, same as everwhere. Never get the half a chicken order right, they nearly always give you garlic sauce and coleslaw even if you ask for gravy and peas.
