Once again Chirk Cricket Club thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic hot buffet supplied by Caffi Wylfa at Chirk AAA’s for their annual Presentation Evening on 9th November. Chris & his team are all lovely & so friendly. So much food everyone had seconds & doggy bags! This is the third year they have catered for us & already booked them for next year. Cannot fault them. Check out their Sunday lunches you won’t be disappointed.

Have visited many times over the last couple of years, but cafe seems to have become a victim of its own success. Staff and service only average now (previously lovely staff). Prices and portion sizes no longer represent value for money. There are better cafes further along the canal with nicer ambience and value for money. Shame really

Went for lovely breakfast with my daughter First people to arrive, walk in 3 people standing there doing nothing looking but can’t even say hello! Someone else comes in and get served, eventually we get served, need to repeat everything 3 times Eventually it arrives by grumpy chef, my daughters scrambled egg is a microwave mess and goes back I ask for ground black pepper, pepper of the wrong type is thrown at the table No apologies no for our disjointed meal because of a lazy chef If you can’t be bothered do something else I won’t return

As locals to the cafe we popped in on our way shopping for a quick sunday breakfast and now wished we hadnt wasted our money. On the menu it says bacon egg sauage beans & toast = £6. I didnt expect 1 sausage, 1 piece of bacon for this money. All way overcooked and cheap bacon & tasteless cheap sausage. We will vote with our feet and not return. Service was fast and pleasant which is why we came but the breakfasts must sit around waiting under a heater for unsuspecting customers to arrive as it clearly wasnt freshly cooked. So disappointed & not a place i will recommend to others. Sugar dispenser was also very dirty. Kay

Spacious restaurant with good parking. We called in on the off chance and were very impressed. The place is clean and tidy. They have an extensive menu for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The service was friendly and efficient and the order came very quickly. The portions were large and delicious. They have high chairs for babies too which is a help. It was popular so I guess it can get busy and run out of parking spaces but lots of people appeared to walk there. Do make sure you know where it is as it is just off the main street near the police station. We were really impressed. Point for improvement... they had lovely outdoor seating (weather was not good enough for this) but around the area there was masses of litter, mainly emptied sugar sachets etc. This really needs tidying up! Otherwise I would highly recommend it.

I'd have liked to have enjoyed the food and drink advertised by Caffi Wylfa, but I and the rest of my family were refused entry, and rudely so.The advertising card we'd picked up nearby, the café's own web site (http://www.glynwylfa.co.uk/caffi-wylfa/) and the Chirk Village web site (http://www.chirk.com/glynwylfa.html) all declare, in both Welsh and English: ...open seven days a week from 10am-5pm (open later in high season). Sadly the chef/manager makes up his own rules. As we arrived at 4pm he called out: "We're closed." I challenged this, but he insisted. I complained that he had wasted my time and money. He wanted me to take a phone number away with me, but I declined. The opening hours were advertised, he made up the rules as he went along and was rude in enforcing them. He's in the hospitality business and that's not my idea of hospitality, so I shan't trouble him again.I can tell that most people enjoy this place. But it's clear that a few of us experience another side to the Caffi, and in particular its staff. Such a pity.

Working locally, myself and my colleague have just visited this cafe, to be served by the most ignorant, obnoxious little person we have ever come across. I don't know her name but she had short grey, bobbed hair and glasses. Asking "do you make sandwiches to go" , she replied yes, but there is a wait. I asked how long the wait would be As we had to get back to work, and we were told 20 minutes. I ordered two sausage and fried egg baguettes "to go", And two cans of drink. Please note I have mentioned these sandwiches were to go twice during our exchange. While the "lady" was taking our money I told her where we would be sat, and she said she would bring them over as soon as they were ready. I then asked politely if I could have the cans of drink I had already paid for, to be met in a really aggressive tone; "you'll have to wait, I've got things to do" although the cans were right in front of her and within arms reach?. She returned to the counter a little while later, took our drinks from the fridge and slammed them on the counter without saying a word, while me and my colleague stood looking at each other in disbelief at how rude this woman was being. Half an hour passed while we'd sat and finished the drinks she had begrudgingly given us. She then appeared and dropped two plates on the table next to us. Before she rushed off, ignorant to the fact she was not serving pigs with swill, I pointed out politely that the sandwiches were to go, only to be met with her raising her voice: "how can you have a fried egg to go" (Silly me... I hadn't realised eggs had to stay indoors?) I then said, I'm sorry... but I did say twice that they were to go, as we now don't have time to eat in anyway. She then said agressively: "ok, I tell you what, I'll get you two paper bags and you can stuff them in there yourselves, ok". As we stood, again looking at each other in disbelief at this woman's arrogance, she stormed into the kitchen, then came back and dropped two minuscule paper bags that you would put penny sweats in on the table and walked off sarcastically saying "okey dokey?". I am not usually one to complain, but it seemed to me that to this member of staff, everything was too much trouble, and her attitude was all wrong for a person dealing with the public. I honestly wish we had gone elsewhere. The food was absolutely disgusting, and the description of the sausages would have been more honest had it said "cheep frozen netto's own". The egg was like rubber. The "baguette" was the frozen supermarket veriety, and was soked through in greese. What a horrible experience!!

From Chirk Aqueduct and Viaduct we followed the signs to Caffi Wylfa and found this lovely place just two minutes away. It is a social enterprise cafe staffed by volunteers. We enjoyed tea, coffee and a snack and the value for money is fantastic. Smaller portions were available for children. The atmosphere is friendly and we took our time to look at the paintings by a local artist that were on the walls. We walked on to the village centre, a charming place.

Don’t we all love a spoons? Had a lot of good times in the north and south bank spent with friends. Very good value and the food is surprisingly nice. Sometimes the queue can be edging on the ludicrous on a Saturday night but that’s the same with everywhere. The only real downside is that it isn’t open 24/7!

This pub is no longer an Indian Restaurant/ Pub It has been taken over by a very reputable company and is being run brilliantly by Nancy Jones and her under manager Gemma. Mike has been kept on because of his excellent input. The pub has been rejuvenated since the new regime , and now is a truly Community pub. I have been regularly using this pub for 52 years and have not seen it this good since the days of the Moores and Bob and Sue. Good luck to the new management and roll on when the kitchen re-opens even if it’s only for bar snacks.

Lovely location but average experience. There’s definitely better pubs in the area. Externally it looks beautiful but inside it’s lacking character. We chose not to eat here
