Chips were average. Few nice crispy ones, a lot of greasy mushy ones. Cod bites disgusting. Dry, rubbery grey/brown ‘cod’. Chicken nuggets, slimy and cheap. Very expensive for this standard of food. Absolute waste of money

Called in here for a drink after a walk with my friend and my dog only to be told by miserable lady that no dogs allowed. How a place like this can afford to turn away custom I don't know. Went down Church Street to the George and Dragon where we were made very welcome with water for Hollydog as well. Come on Ship, catch up with the times.

Don’t get me wrong, the bloke who runs it seems genuinely lovely and very accommodating. We popped in on a whim, a bit hesitant at first because of some of the reviews we’d seen, but honestly—it’s not quite what the reviews make it out to be. It’s a lovely, mediocre little place (and I mean that in the nicest way). Nothing fancy, but it has its own charm, and the welcoming host makes a big difference. I had the breakfast. It was a little on the greasy side, but then again, that’s pretty expected with a fry-up. The sausages weren’t quite to my taste—more like something you'd get from a chip shop—but that’s just personal preference. Overall, it was decent. Not the best, not the worst—just a solid little stop if you're in the area and fancy something simple.

Having arrived at approximately 6pm on Friday evening, we sourced menus as not on tables, which were photocopies and stapled pages together, not a good first impression.

Tried to eat there first night, 8:30pm arrived no greeting, we got her attention and asked where we can sit as we had a dog, she said sit where you want. When we chose our spot went to go to the bar, 8:40pm lady cleaning table informed me they stopped serving food 8:30pm, after a long journey to get here obviously hungry and disappointed we left. Tried today for lunch to be told lamb chops had run out. Which is fine I explained my disappointment and the lady was confused about not being served the night before as they stopped serving at 9pm. She did apologies but won’t be spending money here. Was so tired the night before and left to feed my 10 yr old from the spa store, so knowing this just made me angry, especially as I was hungry but the item I wanted of course had sold out today, just my luck, so out of principle won’t be trying again, not a great start to this area, not ideal but we did choose remote area. Tuesday today most things closed too đŸ€ŠđŸœâ€â™‚ïžđŸ™„

Having previously been impressed by the restaurant/ cafe we decided to have some light refreshments. We stood at the reception desk for quite a while before someone eventually showed us to a table. We waited an eternity for someone to take out order Our patience was not improved by seeing 2 separate groups of staff deep in conversations. After getting one of the staffs attention we were told someone would come & take out order. It took a further 5 minutes before someone came. Our order consisted of two tea's, current scone, with cream & jam & a custard slice ( of which there was plenty when we first sat down). When the order came, it was a plain scone (not current) & no custard slice. We were told they had sold out!!! It then took quite a while before we could get a credit for the none available item. All in all not a very good experience!! đŸ˜©đŸ˜©

Awful - avoid at ALL cost! Came for a drink here and decided to stay for a meal in the restaurant. Mistake number 1. 5 of us seemed to be an issue in a half empty restaurant. My sister ordered a mushroom ravioli for starter(from the vegetarian menu) they then came back to stay they had swapped the mushroom ravioli for LAMB RAGU. FOR A VEGETARIAN. Starters took 40 mins to arrive, one didn’t arrive with the other 4 (my mum being polite told us to eat ours whilst she waited for hers) I was done with mine before my mums arrived, no apology for the wait. Then took a while to clear our starters and a further wait for our mains. If it wasn’t bad so far
it gets worse. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table which the bartender brought over, poured our wine and then left them on the other end of the table (5 of us on a table for 8) Mains arrived; fish and chips, a mountain of over cooked poor quality frozen chips. Chicken and chips, again shop bought chips and burnt dry chicken. And the worst of all; the mushroom tagliatelle, inedible. Disgustingly oily and overpowering herby. Priced at £17.99 but then an additional £8 for 3 slices of dry chicken. No check backs on the food and no one came to offer desserts, not that we would have had them, we would however have asked for the bill to the table. No we had to find the manager who told us we’d have to go over to the till if we wanted to pay the bill. The hotel itself is run down and tired looking. Toilets weren’t pleasant. Definitely not 4 start. Overall, poor service and poor food in a dated setting with a high price tag. Avoid
