Upper Boat Inn in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Visited yesterday with my family. Had a beautiful carvery, all lovely and hot and the rosties were the best iv tried. There was a kind helpful young chap called logan who put what I couldn't eat into a container for me to take home, so helpfull and kind- a asset to the upperboat.

Perfect location, great carvery and truly good prices meat was lovely and the veg and piping hot, can get busy on weekends so probably book in advance. Would highly recommend if you’re close or looking for a nice roast style carvery. Other meal options are available also at a great price

The service we received today was exceptional. The food was lovely. A special thank you goes to Logan who looked after us today what a lovely and polite young man. We will certainly be returning.

The manager looked after me and my colleagues amazingly well, couldn't have been any more helpful. We'll definitely come back.

Sunday roast was lovely, but had a bit of a line for the bar and only a couple of staff.

Went to The Upper Boat in with family for an early Christmas meal and had the carvery. The atmosphere was nice and cosy and although busy it was not crammed and was still quiet enough to have a conversation. The food was really good with plenty of meat. We had all three sizes and were all happy with our meals. The service was excellent (I'm a retired pub landlady and very fussy) and the staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend and thank you to the landlord for my glass and beermat. We'll be back.

I have used Yayeh’s service for nearly ten years, if not more. My experience is 100%. The staff are very professional and always efficient. Their app is absolutely effective and easy to use. Any issues or mistakes I had are handled promptly. Thanks to all the staffs.👍🏽💜

First time at the upper boat and decided to have a carvery. Plenty of food on offer( gammon, chicken , Beef etc). Help yourself , gravy was quite tasty. Price was £8:99?, good value.

came here for food for the first time with my partner as we enjoy trying new places. we ordered food from the bar and waited 50 minutes for starters. by the time the starters came out our main came out also which we were not particularly happy about as we ordered starters for a reason. the chips were cold and the burgers we had were mush. my partner was trying to get one of the waitresses attention but was ignored multiple times and whenever we were served she would walk off before we even finished what we wanted to say. it wasn't busy and i also work in hospitality so i understand it can be a struggle some days but customer service is a must and i didn't see any of it here.

I had a delivery from uber hour early delivered the food well it's like looking at a mashed up mess all just pushed into a tub squshed together absolutely disgusting for the price and it was so dry don't waste your money £30 for two large carverys never again if I been in the shop I would have ask for a refund yuck

BEWARE do not use car park if you dont want a £100 fine....owners of pub dont give a dam and i was parked with a blue badge...food was awful as well terrible carvery

Lovely staff and excellent meal

No prebooking was made, and I was able to have a table. Food was plentiful and replenished as and when required, with a bonus of no queuing at the carvery area. Carvery chef was pleasant. Prices are reasonable. Tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as customers vacated. Will visit here again when in the area.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Quick and efficient service and tables cleaned asap after people using them. Food was yummy and lovely and warm apart from the Yorkshire puddings as they were hard and stale . Carving chef was lovely and friendly and we will be back again soon

Popped in off the cuff today, staff were helpful as we hadn't booked. 3 of us has the carvery. The chef was carving the beef off the end of the joint. It was awful. It was fatty and chewy. Usually carvery beef just falls apart, I only managed 2 forkfuls, it was bad, the food wasn't very warm either. We all complained to the waitress who informed us she would let the chef know. Personally that's not great customer service. Sadly we won't be returning. It was very poor standard for a carvery.

£100 parking charge issued to my elderly mother for 28min in this restaurant - incorrect registration entered on iPad although proof of drink purchase supplied. Pleases beware!

As always food was good and service good too just thought there would be a more varied range of veg and beef dripping roasties being a Sunday roast. Just the same as a weekday carvery but costed more on a Sunday

Recently visited with a friend for a carvery, I really don’t know where to begin! I booked online, upon entry, no host to greet us and direct us to our table. Staff saw us standing but did not approach. We just took a two seater table because that is what I’d booked. I have to say, the lady at the bar was very friendly and welcoming taking our drink and food orders efficiently. It doesn’t get any better from here unfortunately. Gammon looked lovely, we were given our meat and the staff member walked back into the kitchen. The vegetables on display looked very dry, there was no stuffing or carrots available to us. There were enough roasts for 2 people had they not been swimming in oil. The member of staff reappeared and I asked if we could have fresh roasts and also could he remove the lid from what I suspected were more carrots behind. In fairness within a minute, more potatoes were brought out in a steel bowl and tipped on top of the others. These obviously hadn’t been drained because another load of oil went in as well! Not very appetising I assure you, I ended up not having any. My friend decided to try 1 (proved too hard to cut). They forgot to take the lid off the carrots before disappearing again. I called out but nobody heard me. I saw a lady by the host station and asked if she could arrange this. All the time, food is getting cold. The worst part for us was when we went to add the gravy, both gravy pots were full of large gelatinous stomach churning lumps! I just could not have added this to my food. I spoke again to the lady that had helped me and asked if it could be strained. She explained that they couldn’t do that, although I don’t know why not. She took the one pot away and 2 minutes later brought another. In a nutshell, the food I had put onto my plate was acceptable but barely warm. Neither of us were able to finished our meals and skipped to dessert. Nobody came to removed our plates, so I had to put them onto the empty table next to us. I have to say, the ice cream sundaes were very nice, however, the toffee popcorn was missed off and brought out to me as I was halfway though. No disaster, but lack of attention. All of this can be avoided with more care and attention being paid to monitoring the quality of the food, and restocking where necessary to avoid customers having cold food. This is a fair and accurate review of our experience at this venue. I am not seeking a refund or apology, my hope is that Management will take this constructive criticism on board. Thank you.

Fantastic pub. Food was great we went on a Saturday lunch time and not too busy. I had a pepperoni pizza that came out piping hot and was delicious. My wife had a carvery and said it was lovely. Top tip. Download the app for a 25% off voucher for food. We saved about a tenner. Only criticism was that I ordered a BBQ dip for which I was charged 50p and it came in tiny paper tubs the sort you get in McDonald's for free. Which I felt was a bit of a rip off

I go to uni down the road, I enjoy coming here to complete work and have some great food. I always get a friendly welcome from staff. Symone who served me and Jordan behind the bar deserve a mention! :) Really easy to scan the QR code to order food and drink too.

I had a Carvery here and it was delicious as it always is. The staff were pretty awesome too especially the waitress Symone who went out of her way to help me with everything. I’d definitely recommend The Upper Boat if you enjoy a great carvery.

What a delight. We visited the Upper Boat inm many years ago, and thought we'd try it again. The atmosphere, food and deco were fabulous. I really can't rate it highly enough. I must stress how fantastic the staff were too...nothing was too much trouble and we left looking forward to our visit next week xx Thank you guys

We came for breakfast this morning and I have to say the food was absolutely amazing, lisa came out to the breakfast desk and provided some amazing service and conversation. Overall this was a 5/5 experience and I will be coming again.

Good place and great breakfast. All you can eat for £5.99! What’s not to like. The black pudding was a bit dry and thin Burberry rest was absolutely amazing.

We visited this restaurant on 6/10/24. It was a very busy Sunday lunchtime and although we had not booked the staff were so friendly and helpful they managed to accommodate us. The carvery meal was lovely and cooked to perfection. This was our first visit and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Annoying that at 1300 on a Sunday, when almost every table is full, only one person is serving behind the bar. Apart from that - the greeter was pleasant even if the bar woman wasn't particularly. Food was hot and tasty, good price at £12.

We have just held a meal here for our daughters 18th, they were fantastic, there was around 25 of us including children of all ages, the waitress and all the staff worked so hard because we were a bit chaotic 🤣 the food was all brought out together, it was stunning and lots of it. Thank you for helping to make my daughters 18th birthday so special.

The carvery is always nice and excellent value, it's a good stop off if you want something quick as the service is good. There's another menu if you fancy something different and pizzas are cooked fresh.
