If you are in the area, just DO NOT THINK OF STOPPING at the Forge. The prices are HIGH and the food is diabolical. The big “turn off” was when I arrived at 13.00 the approx. 80 seater restaurant was empty. Where on earth the chef came from does not contemplate thinking about Do yourself a favour PASS and save yourself a lot of money.

Hotel Closed - the hotel is closed due to a boiler issue, didn’t bother to call ahead. We sat outside of the hotel for an hour trying to ring them. Finally managed to get through and turn out the hotel has been closed for 3 weeks - cannot understand why they didn’t call ahead to let us know.

Visited yesterday for Father's Day. Waited 1hr 20 mins for food and ended up walking out. Asked staff twice where our food was, but the Waiting Staff were disorganised and dismissive. No-one came over to inform us if there were delays with the food, and they were still accepting walk-ins up to 3:45pm, when booked customers still hadn't been served. A very disappointing experience for my Dad and the whole family. The food is normally excellent, it's the customer service and complete lack of organisation, notably on a Sunday and at peak times, that lets the place down. Waiting Staff should be allocated to specific tables to ensure customers are served promptly or advised of any delays. Also, some training in managing customer complaints wouldn't go amiss, instead of rude stares and no feedback. Won't be frequenting on a Sunday and peak times again.

Two complaints, firstly; will not allow a single chair be moved across to allow seven people to sit together, nor pull two tables together. The biggest group tables are six. Quote Health and safety, and fire regs, which is dubious when the chair to be moved is no-where near any doorway / access. Secondly, the staff member spoken to had made no attempt to learn any Welsh and gave a look of complete distain that someone should open a conversation in Welsh (news for you this is Wales). Fydd ni yn edrych am rhywle arall i mynd tro nesa.

Had dinner as a family of 4 adults. Good range of beers. Basic menu although the food was plentiful it was very plain. Good value for money if you need a good fill.

Had a takeaway roast Sunday dinner while camping locally. Opted for the beef dinner. The food was amazing. 3 large slices of beef which were really tender, a crispy Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes & parsnips, stuffing & veg plus a large pot of gravy each. After eating my fill I reheated the remainder over an open fire for supper later. The beef was still tender & I still didn't eat it all, but my dog licked the foil tray clean and also approved. Great price, great food. I camp at Afon Teifi quite often & will definitely be having this again when camping!

So after having a family meal at Las Iguanas we came here for a quick drink before heading on somewhere else. The place was packed, yet we found a good table in a relatively quiet corner. We got drinks and I found the staff quick to serve us, it was service with a smile and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We only stopped for the one but this is a place that is return to during the day time.

Wouldn’t recommend. Tea tasted of chemicals. Not very accommodating asked to move table as couldn’t see for sunshine and no blinds and they weren’t helpful. Breakfast nothing special for the money. I’ve certainly had better. Turning customers away when tables are empty. Slow service

Didn’t disappoint. Lovely meals all served with humongous Yorkshire puds! Lashings of gravy and the cheesy leek dish was the best!

Oh dear, what has happened to the menu! We have eaten many times here and the food has generally been consistent and the menu sensibly priced and with a good variety of dishes. Our previous visit was about 3 or 4 months ago so I assumed we would get the same or similar menu. My bad for not checking; the old menu has been replaced by pretentious French described dishes (why?!) and a huge price hike across the board. We chose the King Prawns Risotto, overpriced at £18.50. The dish was garnished with one king prawn, no more: the rice was tasty enough but the dish very poor value for money. Regrettably, we won't be returning, such a shame after an association with the hotel restaurant over many years. I suspect many people, like us, will vote with their feet. Nearby Crickhowell has much to offer on the dining front.
