Blas Mwy Black Lion in Carmarthenshire

This was a great spot for lunch! We stopped off on spec and I was pleased to see vegan options. I had the vegan burger which was lovely. My parents had the chicken burger and the gammon, and they were equally pleased with the food, the portions and the service. I also had a vegan crumble tart with custard which was delicious! Overall a very pleasant experience, although prices were a little on the high side.

After seeing such good reviews, I ask myself - were the restaurant having a bad day?? Seven of us went for a lunchtime birthday celebration. The restaurant was quiet. The staff were pleasant and polite. The menu looked exciting but, unfortunately, only one of the dishes chosen lived up to its name. Of the other dishes, none of them lived up to the description on the menu with many of the included ingredients missing. One of the dishes was returned and was then replaced but with hardly any change made to it and this dish went uneaten. We were all very disappointed with the food and at the end of the meal when we went to pay the bill we noticed that some of the meals ordered had been increased in price on the bill. This was pointed out to the staff and the overcharge was removed. All in all a very disappointing meal and although we are locals we will not be returning.

Recently dined at BLAS MWY and weren’t disappointed.I had two home cooked fish cakes,which contained a high proportion of FISH and treble cooked hand cut chips(delicious) and a side salad.My husband opted for a beef burger,again home produced well cooked two burgers and thin chips.The portions were sizeable and as a result we had no room for pudding but managed an americano,again well sized cups. Many thanks to Annest and the waitresses and our compliments to the chef.

Lovely afternoon the service was excellent and the very best welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 afternoon tea - all the best welsh produce , empty plates . Little tip If you can’t finish your cakes or sandwiches ask for a take away box because you have paid for it .

A welcoming smile and attention from the many staff. The food (2 course Sunday lunch was sublime!) Almost wanted to lick the plate and desert dish clean!!) Maybe some may say pricey, but the quality was reflected in the price.

It is a local eaterie and we had visitors so it was nice to have a lovely meal out. We had coffee on the patio just as the sun was setting

We have family in the area who love it here and we bought them gift vouchers for a Mother’s Day / birthday treat which they were delighted with. We decided to pop in for lunch when visiting and it didn’t disappoint. The outside view at the front doesn’t do the inside décor justice. Lovely relaxed environment with great food. We had burger and fish, both delicious. We will definitely be returning. Hope you manage to keep going despite cost of living crisis. We also commented that this would be a lovely place for a small intimate wedding reception.

Lovely peaceful evening. Great food and choice. Good atmosphere. It was a bank holiday and the restaurant was full but everything was unhurried and peaceful. You knew you were in Wales but none of this was in your face. Nice drive back with the setting sun and a very pretty outlook from the restaurant. Will go again and tell friends.

I visited with my partner one evening and we ordered a gluten free pizza for myself and a normal one for my boyfriend. I was glutened. An email reply from this establishment suggested my symptoms were not due to cross contamination, but illness. It also revealed the pizza was cooked in the SAME corner of the kitchen. Do not order a gluten free pizza you are risking your health and your life, if allergic. The staff were impolite too. Avoid for the sake of your health.

We visited here as we were in the area and just researched places to eat. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. We would definitely visit again if passing

Waw,WELL grilled nongreasy breakfast-3 bacon rashers,2 sausages,black pudding,fried bread,tomatoes,mushrooms,fried egg and granary toast- what a plateful .Second person had bacon stacked bilberry pancakes - absolutely delicious.Two cups of WELL SIZED americanos. High standard of cleanliness and decor,welcoming staff ,possessing natural social skills. Highly RECOMMENDED.Most probably the best breakfasts we’ve ever had.A ten out of ten.

I have to say that Blas Mwy/Back Lion is well worth a visit. It boasts superlative accomodation and wonderful food. Their breakfasts are to die for, but more importantly the staff and their service are wonderful. Friendly and professional, a great team. Go there!

We visited with friends on a Saturday night; as expceted the restaurant was busy but the wait for food was what you would expect for freshly prepared and cooked meals. The addition of home made relish and coleslaw added to the appeal of our meals, which were of an excellent quality and standrard and very generous portions. The home made white chocolate cheesecake was a definite favourite on our table, and is worth visiting again for! The small team at Blas Mwy are working very hard to continue to produce a high standard of home made meals and provide attentive friendly service - give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I would have scored a 0 if i could, The portion sizes here for the price is a disgrace, one finger sandwich a small sausage roll and half a scone with afternoon tea is just terrible. The staff are rude and try to rush you out of the door. I know we have a cost of living crisis but this just takes the p. Customers won’t return, better business management needed.
