The staff were so unhelpful and the food was cold when it came , I shall definitely not be returning again until they change management. They also support and agree with fox hunting which is absolutely barbaric shame on you and may other people avoid your business like the plaque

Food not great, staff even worse, landlady worst of all. Not recommended. Might be ok with a revamp and decent management. Later found out that the pub is a supporter of hunting which, had I been aware, would have ensured I avoided the place from the start. Dreadful place, far better pubs around.

Went into have a quick look after seeing the A Board outside and honestly, this pub is nothing special at first. We were quickly directed to a table and thought we would just have a drink. A lovely young woman served us and I ended up ordering the Pan Fried fried chicken and vegetables. It did take quite a while for the food to arrive so I was hoping that this meant it was being cooked fresh. I was very pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. It was a big portion and perfectly cooked. It had swede which I don't normally like but it was so well cooked I ate the lot!! The cream sauce was heavenly. If I could have licked the plate I would have. Well done Coracle Tavern... Your food and service are excellent. I'll definitely visit again.

I had Sunday lunch here. Easy parking to the side of the pub. Nice fire downstairs, friendly bar maid. I had the roast belly pork. The portions were very good and in fact too much veg. For me the gravy could have been a little thicker, but the flavour was good. At just under £9 the price is excellent value for money. This places should have been busier based on value.

We were very well looked after and a bowl of water was brought for the dog. The prices were very good and we were only expecting your usual pub food. We couldn't have been more wrong! We ordered braised beef in a red wine jus with mashed potato and roasted vegetables for £9. It was absolutely stunning! Beautifully presented and very generous portions seasoned to perfection. Visitor to the town and discovered this place totally by accident for a Friday lunch. Unassuming but excellent. Traditional boozer downstairs where we were welcomed on arrival with the offer to dine upstairs in the restaurant. Transpired to be a largish tastefully decorated space with contemporary distressed furniture and fittings. Unlike many boozers above their station with bar queuing / table numbers / upfront payment- this place offered full to-the-table service, including drinks, and payment upon completion. It was, indeed, a 'restaurant'... Praise Be! Wonderful attentive service and, trust me here, in a region where 'veggie' fodder can be decidedly iffy - their 'Veggie Delight' was probably the best non-meat thing I've tasted on a bun - ever!. Food was excellently cooked, prepared, presented, and served in ample portions. Brace yer' self - it was under eight quid! Double whammy with a lovely pint of real ale 'Moho' for a bargain £3 in these parts. The carnivore element of the party was also delighted with their ham with a brace of eggs - clock this - seven quid! Stunning lunch with a main, couple of drinks, for under £20 for two in a fine restaurant setting. Nothing to fault here - we'll be back.

My partners gammon steak was mostly thick fat. The downstairs smelt of urinal cakes. And I had to leave a lot of my food and wait outside for my partner because I was feeling so sick from he smell and the grease of the food. Visited Coracle Carmarthen last weekend taking our grandchildren, we normally visit The Rose and Crown but decided to venture to new places. We visit our grandchildren every 4 weeks so taking them out for lunch is something we look forward to. We went upstairs to eat and the restaurant was very nice indeed, extremely clean. Ordering was very prompt. When our food arrived, fish and chips we were dissappointed in the size of the portion and my fish was grey in colour, foolishly I did not complain. However my grandaughters Lasagne, was extremely hard and just tasted of cheese, whilst cutting into it my granddaughter found a hair. I called the waitress over who stood at the opposite end of the table and when I informed her of our find said "It cannot be from my sister she wears a hat" well it most certainly was not from my grandaughter, the hair in question was black and short. The waitress just walked off and my granddaughter left the piece with the hair and ate around it. Hey ho yet another hair was in the lasagne, on the top hardened into the very hard crust. Once again it was short and black. The Waitress decided then to commence taking the plates off the table, even though people were still eating - REALLY. My granddaughter decided to leave the rest of her food. We left the restaurant and went to pay the bill. I told them of the problem we had encountered and they took the meal off the bill. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and will most certainly will not return and cannot recommend the Coracle Tavern.

I have to agree with Peter D and I will never go there again. A friend and I (two young ladies) visited here on 1 November as I remembered the Coracle from my student days in Trinity as a friendly, welcoming pub, serving good food. Instead of the warm welcome I was sure we would get, I was both embarrassed and insulted. Upon stepping through the door we were 'greeted' by a guy propping up the bar who asked us whether we were lost! I confirmed we had intended to come here, and asked the barman whether food was being served. After he answered that it was not, another smart aleck at the bar piped up commenting that Halloween was the day before - charming 'gentlemen'!! Whilst my friend and I conferred about what to do, the first guy asked why we were looking so glum, which we weren't. Not before time, we decided to leave. At no point in this did the barman speak up against the rudeness us ladies we were subjected to by who I assume were his regulars. I assume it wasn't because we were speaking Welsh as Welsh is heard a lot in Carmarthen and is not unusual. We moved on to have a lovely meal at Yr Hen Dderwen, the Wetherspoons.

Recently under new management, I'm afraid the they need to take stock of what they want to achieve and how they're going to go about it. Sunday lunch with only three other tables running, took over an hour to serve when there were only two items on the menu. Apparently the kitchen failed to signal that the meal was ready, and had to be prepared again, but nothing was said to us at the time. Add to that one staff member (of three) that thought eye contact should be avoided at all costs (perhaps a function of extremely long, poorly applied eyelashes?). Another that thought it was perfectly acceptable to scrape the contents of one plate onto another while one of their guests were still at the table. Wouldn't you expect cauliflower to resemble its uncooked state even when cooked, rather than a blob of mush? If you like gravy, you'll be fine - your meal will arrive swimming in it. Too bad if you prefer less. Good points: The third waitress was attentive, polite and helpful. We had free drinks because the food was so late. Summary: The Coracle used to be a reliable place to go and eat, in a good position for parking and shops. Currently in our experience, it's a place to avoid. Hopefully ours is an isolated case and this venue will be worth going to. Perhaps someone can let me know when that is, because I won't be going there any time soon.

This used to be THE place to eat in carmarthen until the new places opened up by Debenhams. Sadly when we walked in it was very quiet, and asking if they were serving came with a friendly "yeh sure" when we started walking upstairs we were told that it hardly got used. Shame! The food we had was stunning, gammon was huge an well cooked, my parents had scampi and a steak, all well cooked, well flavored and the portions were massive, very cheap too! Its a shame people now favor the branded establishments.

Lovely place, great pub grub! Brilliant atmosphere, especially on rugby games! Used to be one of my favourite places to go when in Carmarthen¬

Just moved to Carmarthen and this place is fantastic. If you like real ales as much as I do then this is a diamond in a desert. Why I hear you ask! Plenty of real ale houses in Carmarthen. Yes ... but not real ale delivered from the cask. I placed my order for a pint of Banks Sunbeam with the barman who disappeared for a short while and came back with the best pint I have ever tasted. Thank you fate for placing me in this pub. Then to top it off I got a burger with fries for half price. Gushing man !! This place may not rock but if its a talk with friends in nice clean suroundings you want, then this is the place to be.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, the service didn’t take long and I enjoyed my food immensely. Reasonably priced and to be honest, we need more places like this. Good, affordable cafe food.
