Sessile Oak in Carmarthenshire

Very good service and value for money. Clean and spacious and the staff are excellent. Vickie looked after us and laughed at my jokes even though my wife says I am not funny!

Reasonably priced pub food that is excellent. Clean establishment and extremely friendly staff.

Prime Ales and good food. We were met by ‘Liam, who was the true epitome of exceeding clients customer service. Our food from the deck was cooked to perfection, coupled with the tasty carvery and glowing atmosphere. When Liam approaches guests, he does engage very well. Unlike other traits gathered from mainline pub chains, he has the desire and dedication. Wishing you a great day and thank You.

We came to watch the rugby. Rooms clean and tidy and just what we needed. The staff were really welcoming and helpful. Food was decent oub grub and breakfast was great! Would happily go again!

Very quiet evening when we visited food good service fair , sadly carvery had stopped serving before we ordered. Returned again here to find food and service had deteriorated , venue very noisy due to some event on . personally I would advise go somewhere else .. complained to manager who said nothing they could do.

Food was great and service was quick, team are friendly and happy. This place has turned around in the last month or so, some new faces which is a pleasant change.

Dropped by for breakfast this morning. Had a full English, and it was excellent. (So was the service provided by Eli !) I’m sure I’ll be back, and next time, I’ll bring the family!

Came after a spot of shopping. Arrived and welcomed by an older gent. He was friendly at down and ordered carvery it was nice.

We were staying at the hotel and went to the Sessile oak pub for drinks. Vickie and Claire were absolutely lovely and could not have been more helpful. The pub had a lovely atmosphere because the staff were so friendly to everyone they served. Will definitely be back!

Went to the Sessile Oak for a few drinks with friends on Good Friday!! One or Two turned in to a great night. Found out there was a music quiz and decided to stay, it was fantastic a bit of music for everyone!!! Young and Old!!! The manager and the team were amazing and we've been here before, this has definitely gone up a level or 2, Well Done to the new Manager. Stayed 1 night for business. Not sure if I am reviewing the restaurant or the accommodation, either way both very average. Food : 6/10 Great portions, but very bland food. Use a bit of seasoning please. Service : 8/10 Vickie was very friendly, however check in was a bit of a hassle and there was no one at the check in so we had to wait in the bar to ask to be checked in Accommodation 6/10 I gave accommodation a 7 because they left loads of milk! Definitely worth an extra point! And I was able to park my car close to the entrance. Rooms are clean and large but very dated.

Great service from Vickie Had the fish Chips and mushy peas. All downed with a glass of red Malbec Definitely recommend for a good value meal.

I met up with 8 friends for a meal and couldn't believe how well we were looked after. We had a few requests in advance and all of these were met. The young man in charge made sure he put in all our orders together and everyone was very happy with their meal. The service was great from all the staff and we all had a great time.

The food is really nice, the veg is fresh, crunchy carrots etc if you like that sorts thing. Taste was beautiful, and the meant is out of this world I'll say that alone would make me want to try it. Things like 2 small pigs in blankets for like 2.99 or something like that as an extra was a bit steep but the meal price originally was good. I wouldn't bother ordering a large dinner, the normal size is big enough. Would definitely go again.

Beautiful Sunday Carvery! lovely atmosphere..

Lovely carvery but the beef was a bit tangy other wise lovely perhaps just me

1st visit, staff were exceptionally welcoming & friendly so first impressions were very good. Carvery looked great so we opted for turkey dinner. We were disappointed with the overall quality of the food, there was lot of gristle & fat left on the turkey which should have been removed when carving. The Yorkshire pudding was so hard & dry we couldn't cut it. Outside could also do with a tidy up as it looked scruffy & overgrown. We all agreed we would not be returning.

Lunchtime carvery experience was one to forget! The chef really struggled to cut the beef . It was really tough like leather. Struggled to cut it and eat it.It was the cheapest cut of beef available and dreadful. Left some of it. The carrots were a combination between sliced and chunks! The chunks were hard! The mash and Swede mix was bad with the Swede being chunks in amongst the mash potatoes.No vegetarian gravy option. Won’t use them again.

Portions getting smaller pity they don't sell real coke cola but on the whole good food and good staff

Food was cold, bar staff member called me over to be served then served someone else before me(very rude). The table that we sat at was sticky(obviously not cleaned properly).

Don't go if you are expecting indoor play area for little kids, although web site says its there, it is not. Food ok but missed my BBQ sauce off Hunters chicken, so had to ask and they offered to take dinner away to kitchen but I said no as others in my group were eating already so gave me a bottle of Heinz cold BBQ sauce .

Warm and dog friendly always a bouns, Liam jenkins was the most kind and politest person ever! Very friendly and chatty, which is what i instigated and he was just perfect and what was needed! Thank you sessile il be back! #liamneedsaraise.

The rooms are warm and clean plus there was plenty of tea and coffee. The bathroom was clean with a bath and shower. The attached pub was expensive for drinks but the food was reasonably priced.

Food was lovely, first time we've been in a while and dog friendly area has been extended which we loved being owners. Will be back soon

Amazing staff and food. They are polite and respectful, had a small issue and they had it sorted immediately without any issues. We go once a week and we are never left dissatisfied or dissapointed. We will continue to go every week as we really enjoy every time we go.

Such a lovely cosy pub which always has a warm welcome. Liam, Emily, Vicky and Eli were working tonight and were fab as always (not forgetting quiz Queen Lindsay). This is the best Marstons we’ve found across England and Wales.

We've visited the pub many times, but this was our first time staying in hotel. We stayed for 3 nights, Thursday - Saturday. Overall, a great experience and will definitely stay with you again as convenient for us when in area. Constructive feedback - there was no towel rail in room for us to dry towels so we could reuse so you ended up changing everyday. And I suspect the extractor fan in bathroom was faulty as got very humid and damp in there after 4 of us has showered in the morning! Everything else was great, staff were lovely and friendly and we look forward to staying with you again.

We arrived on a Monday, 2 adults 2 kids and a baby, food was ordered and paid for, we didn't have to wait long for food to arrive myself and my husband ordered burgers which tasted lovely only downfall there was no veg or salad with our meals so it came out looking very beige with the burger and chips. My youngest had the under 5 meal which is priced very affordably she had burger chips and corn on the cob, but my eldest had the over 5 meal and again he also had a burger but his arrived with no veg/salad and portion size was the same despite paying more, I'd expect all kids meals to come with some form of veg option, otherwise I may have well taken them to a fast food place. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. I'd go again but not too soon.

I always have excellent service and food here but today was exceptional, Liam was THE most amazing person I have ever met, he went out of his way, not only with me and my son,but every table he passed. So happy and friendly, made a dull day for me so much brighter, EVERY SINGLE member of staff have always been tremendous but today Liam stood out over and above everyone else, you truly have an exceptional young man on your staff,hope he goes a long way within your company because he truly deserves it and he will be a fantastic asset to you and your company, WELL DONE LIAM!!!!!

Went this week haven’t been for years. To start it doesn’t look that clean there. The front door was super dirty the glass all marked. Tables a bit sticky. Floor looks like it needs a good hoover and mop. Odd smell. Menus were all grubby....

The Sessile Oak is the place you want to be if you love a carvery. You have a choice of two meats. My favourite is the beef. You have an array of vegetables peas carrots swede cabbage, and brocoli. There's roast potatoes, mash, or boiled. Then there's the gravy, which is lush. You have sauces as well. There are three ranges of size, small medium or large serving. It is a really good meal for a really good price. If you can fit in a dessert later, then there is enough on the menu to choose from. I, for one, could not.

We love coming for a carvery , sometimes just me and my wife , other times with family . But we also like food from the normal menu . Never have to wait long . Food is always very good . The Sessille Oak is a lovely pub but the best part about coming here is the fantastic welcome we get from the staff...always friendly and ready to go out of their way to make us enjoy our nights out...special mention to Liam, Dionne, Emily and Nevita.... Food is always tasty and there's a good selection of sport on the tv. Great family pub...play area outside for the kids. Central to the shops across the road. Overall, highly recommended 👌

Have been here a number of times, such a shame it was an awful experience on the last visit. Have decided that we will not be returning again. Children's food should have been brought out first but it was last. when it was it wasn't presented nicely or tasted nice. My daughter has special needs so she wasn't in the best of moods after. Also came to visit my nan as we are not from here. My nan is in a nursing home and treated her to an afternoon here, such a shame she had to have a disappointing experience. The carvery beef was awful, I couldn't cut it or swallow it, the vegetables had no flavour. Was told no jelly for the kids desert but then came out with jelly. With the most smallest bit of icecream. The burger wasn't cooked properly. We spent nearly £100 on our family order. I definitely wouldn't recommend.
