The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Hotelkamer achternhet hotel gekregen, quite suite 2. Ruime kamer, zeer ruime badkamer. Bed is iets te klein qua lengte, ben je langer dan 1m80 steken je voeten buiten boord. Parkeren in de straten naast de suite is de beste optie. Eten kun je het beste in de buurt ( bydand restaurant, wel reserveren).

Nice clean restaurant good menu food was lovely and hot Attentive staff and child friendly toilets were clean with hot water

As the season narrows, it’s appropriate to say thank you before they have their very well deserved break in January & February. I have been a regular in the restaurant all summer and can’t recommend higher than 5 stars, or I would. Margaret and her team offer the warmest of welcomes, the most special part of that is the authenticity behind it. She has picked the most customer centric team who greet you with a smile, serve fantastic food and represent the castle to the highest possible standard. Thank you and I look forward to next year. Was greeted at the front desk by the most grumpy woman I have ever seen. For some reason had to give them my name and phone number which they wrote down! I wanted to ask why but didn't want to cause a stir. Was ushered to a table and asked what we wanted. We wanted coffee before we had a look round the shop. I have been to the shop many times and bought lots of clothes and presents for people so have spent quite a bit of money over the years as I'm quite close by. We ordered our two coffees and a scone. I didn't order anything to eat. I am gluten intolerant and didn't want any of the big GF cakes they had so I always carry a small museli GF bar with me. The waitress came over and we gave her our order. I said I didn't want anything as I'm gluten intolerant and had my own small bar with me. The owner came over in the most abrupt manner and asked what was wrong with me? "Are you celiac?" I was so taken aback by her manner and rudeness. She did say we have GF things here and I said I know but I didn't want a large cake but if it was a big deal we will just leave. She couldn't care less if we did. Her reply was "We need to make money!" ok yes you do but the amount of money I've given this place over the past few years would certainly have covered the cake. We walked out. Such a shame as I just wanted to treat my 90 year old mother in law to a coffee. So So disappointed with the staff's attitudes, ok maybe I shouldn't have had the GF bar with me but there are ways of going about things and she definitely had no People skills. What a shame I will be telling everyone about my experience and probably won't return.

I suspect the Silverfjord is not long for this world. The dining room was freezing cold , half of it set up for breakfast.It also appeared to be a pub with no beer - I had their last can of Doom bar, the only non-lager option on offer. It was also served in a novel way - the unopened can dumped in the top of a pint glass. I made the mistake of ordering the 'home made' burger, I am not sure what it was made of but I don't think any cows were harmed in its making. My wife's fish and chips was OK, but came with no peas, just a piece of torn up lettuce. Chips were cooked ok, though. We didn't stay for dessert, we were in and out in just over an hour, £37 poorer and wiser.

Delicious lentil soup. I also had a hummus sandwich on granary bread with Chilli jam that I would recommend. All tasted home made and fresh. Coffee excellent top as were the cakes. Service excellent and very friendly Definitely five out of five stats

Lovely, welcoming staff who were all friendly and cheerful which started our evening off well! We all enjoyed our dinner and , even though we’ve visited the pub before, we felt that the welcome we had this time was the best yet!

Great service with a smile, best coffee I have had for a long time and ginger loaf was fantastic 🥰 definitely be back again soon.

I was very disappointed buy the service and over expensive, and the cafe needs a good clean and I won’t be back ether as they don’t treat male customers as they should.

Such a disappointment …..think they must have different chefs on different days. I had lunch on Tuesday , scallops with a delicious sauce and a light cheese dressing and honeycomb snap which was so delicious I went back the next day. Ordered same dish …..padded out with some form of very dry potatoes, no snap and sauce almost totally absent. Very dry and mediocre lunch…..won’t be returning.

The best Sunday lunch I've ever had. Delicious, and amazing roast beef. Great food hall, garden centre and gift shops too.

Ooooh. Truly great fish and chips in a village that knows well historically what it costs to harvest the sea. Whitehills has been a favourite of mine over many, many years. First as a child on caravan holidays in nearby Banff, later visiting vacationing family and taking my own along, and lastly as a wonderful experience for friends staying in the area. They'd already sussed out that Rock Fish is often fully booked, so we went early with a backup plan to get a takeaway if - as we immediately noticed - every table had a reserved sign (at 4pm!) However, they managed to sneak us in to a table that was reserved for slightly later, and that came as a relief to the oldest member of our party on a cold, wild day on the north-east coast. Imagine being at sea, or landing fish, in all that. We were treated to three very different and delicious dishes and one of my companions even tucked into a combo of fish and chicken, both of which suited her fine. My haddock was simply perfectly cooked and served with a smile, even though staff were very busy with large numbers of people at the takeaway counter and arriving to be seated. Whitehills and the wider area has other fine eateries and lots to see and do, but this place is where I'd go again and again for warm, local dining experiences.

Had a hot chocolate & a fruit scone today. The scone was nice but the hot chocolate was the worst I’ve ever had. It was watery I think it was made with water not milk. For the price I would have expected better.

Went for a toastie with a friend. I couldn't believe that we received 2 slices of the cheapest nastiest supermarket white sliced bread and cheap cheese, and just that! No salad, not even a scrap of lettuce, and the coffee cups are half the size of anywhere else. It's obvious they keep going as they have a captive audience of holiday makers in the summer, and golfers nearby.
