Went for a toastie with a friend. I couldn't believe that we received 2 slices of the cheapest nastiest supermarket white sliced bread and cheap cheese, and just that! No salad, not even a scrap of lettuce, and the coffee cups are half the size of anywhere else. It's obvious they keep going as they have a captive audience of holiday makers in the summer, and golfers nearby.

People with allergies beware! The woman on the till who took my order was dangerously careless. She went to the kitchen at my request to find out whether the minestrone soup contained gluten-free pasta. She came back and said it was fine, they made it without pasta, just vegetables. This sounded odd. At this point someone came out of the kitchen and said I should not order that soup because it definitely contained gluten. There was no acceptance of having made a mistake or recognition that she could have caused a big problem both for me and the cafe.

Although near the beach, the Pavilion is terribly over priced - paid £7 for a roll and bacon with potato scone and it was definetly not worth it. Bog standard quality, place is nice enough but nothing fancy to be fooling people into paying that for a breakfast roll 🤣 however suspect they play to their clientele from golf/tennis club.....

Had a fabulous lunch here with the family and the dog. Such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The menu had lots of choice for the kids, a vegan and a meat eater. Our food was absolutely delicious and we will most certainly be back. We appreciated our dogs needs were met too- fresh water and a complimentary biscuit or two given by the staff who clearly have a love for dogs. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

On a beautiful summer's day, a hungry family on board and armed with a friend's glowing recommendation, we made the journey to the Pavilion, Elie. Very friendly staff provided a warm welcome and a fantastic menu to choose from. The home made lentil soup was delicious and is highly recommended. And breakfast rolls served in the afternoon was a winner with the kids! Pick up a Mr Whippy Ice Cream before you leave and enjoy a walk along the beach. We'll definitely be back :-)

We”be been here a couple of times previously and it”s ok. This time we decided to have lunch and I ordered the Cajun macaroni at £14. It came and both of us actually burst out laughing, the portion of macaroni was tiny, and there were a handful of chips on the plate. No side salad or garnish. I know other places in Elie are expensive, but this really takes the biscuit. We won”t bother next time.

I visited with my two friends after a nice game of golf at Elie Unfortunately the Pav cannot serve a decent bacon roll. It was tasteless bacon served in a poor brioche roll. Why can’t you improve the quality of the bacon and serve in a decent bread roll from Barnet’s bakery ? The cappuccino I ordered was watery and tasteless too. Overall I was very disappointed The Pav is in a great location and should serve nice quality food. I will avoid it it future.

Relatively few places left to eat in and around Elie these days, so were delighted to find the Pavilion serving lunch. Nothing fancy about it, being based at the golf and sports club, but food was good, reasonably priced and service excellent. Went back a second time during the week we were in the area, partly because most of the "go-to" places focus on fish and one of us is allergic to fish and the other vegetarian. Would heartily recommend the Pavilion for a meal, but on a sunny day it gets pretty busy!

Can't rate this place highly enough! We booked a buffet lunch for a family get together (19 people). We were given a private room, which was really helpful (and saved other guests from all our chatter!) Both the selection and quality of the food was excellent, as was the service. Staff were attentive and very pleasant, and we also thought the lunch was good value for money. This was a special occasion for us, as some family members hadn't met for years (or not at all!) and we were so pleased that everything went so well. Thank you to the Pavilion, and we would definitely like to return when back in Fife. ❤️👍

Recommend but very disappointed. Visited Elie today 3rd June for brunch about 11.30 after it was recommended by a dog walker. Have to say was very disappointed. 1 table was occupied so rather quiet. 3 members of staff behind counter with very little to do. We had to ask for menus as they were not on the table but stumbled across them stacked up near the counter. We had 2 panini’s a roll in lorn sausage and 2 plates of chips. The panini’s were ok nothing exciting, the mixed salad was not nice however the coleslaw was delicious. The roll was so powdered in flour it was all over the place, very messy, the sausage was overdone. The worst part were the chips, absolutely disgusting had to cover them in sauce. They tasted like cheap frozen chips overcooked. It felt like we weee given the dregs left from the frier, over cooked a very greasy. We were all really hungry as we skipped breakfast so just ate the food but have to say for a cafe attached to a golf club we were expecting better. Sorry but won’t be back.

Most of the staff are friendly and trying their best under a bit of pressure but it is a long time since I've had such poor service and bad attitude in a restaurant. My 5 bean vegan dish was well described as it contained about 5 beans. When the the tortilla chips and cheese arrived without the expected salsa and soured cream I queried this and the young chap behind the mask said we don't have any salsa or sour cream and they might have had that on the menu 2 years ago. When I checked the menu it did indeed say it came with salsa and soured cream. The more helpful members of the team came to the rescue and came out with some salsa and sour cream and a bit of extra tortilla and cheese to make up for the delay but no apology from the grumpy guy who said we should have specified that was from the specials menu and we ordered it. Also seriously overpriced.A chicken and mango salad no doubt had all the right ingredients but they were just piled into a bowl, no mixing and no attempt at presentation.

We ate here, on a Saturday day trip to Elie. Lovely place, and good to see it was busy. My husband ordered a BBC Panini & a pot of tea. I only wanted a Cappuccino, and chose a Custard Cream/Melting Moment treat. My coffee and treat arrived along with my husband’s pot of tea. I did start eating/drinking as my coffee would have got cold otherwise. 20 minutes later my husband still did not have his Panini. He went to the counter to ask if it had been forgotten, and was told it was ‘just coming’, but he distinctly got the feeling it had been forgotten, and it did take a further 10 minutes to arrive, with no apology when it was delivered to the table. As I said, we liked the place, but this was not a good eating experience at all, given I had finished mine at least 25 minutes before my husband even got his food.

We have been using this place for years and have had only one or two small issues which you easily accept. However this week we went for lunch and the service and organisation was terrible. Costs are a way up post Covid which is fine as long as the service and quality of food match it. After we finished our main course, we were intending to have coffee and desert we waited and waited, 20 minutes and still our table was not cleared. One lady was continually at the till, no customers so no idea what she was doing. One lady was rushing around trying to serve and take orders both inside and out and then a young lad who clearly needed to be given direction was standing waiting for one of the two ladies to tell him what to do. We gave up, paid and left. The other issue was they filled the plates with chips, you know the old trick to make you think you are getting a lot for your money. To us it was just a case of the staff needing either more training or a better method of working when it is busy. We will give it a go again but once bitten twice shy as they say. Hopefully this was a blip.

Lovely place visited her with my dog after walk on beach. Had a nice bowl of soup and coffee. The place said it was dog friendly but we were not allowed inside, I don't have a massive problem with that but I travel solo and I needed to go inside to order food. My dog is very small and a puppy so I wasn't going to leave him outside so I could stand in a queue waiting to be served. I lifted him up and carried him in to place my order and got a frosty reception. Was told I couldn't have dog inside. When I said I knew I just wanted to order they did offer to send someone outside. I waited a long time till someone actually came out and they seemed annoyed that they had been sent outside to take my order as you are supposed to order at the counter. They need a better ordering system for solo travellers if they want to claim to be dog friendly.

I have just left after having dinner. My wife and I have had a lot of excellent meals before but certainly not tonight. I had one of the specials, home made lasagne. It was so dry the sauce in the middle was so solid I couldn’t eat it. When we told the staff this I was offered more cheese sauce but no amount of cheese sauce could have rescued this. My wife had a baked potato which again she has really enjoyed in the past because of the crispy baked potato skin. The skin this time was not baked (microwaved?). Apart from the food the staff did not deal with the situation well. They were very pleasant but did not really acknowledge our disappointment or offer a reasonable solution. P.S. I’m starving.

We pop in here during the summer for lunch as it's fairly local and its close to Elie beach, so it's very handy. It's popular with visitors and locals alike and can get very busy during the school holidays when the population of Elie and Earlsferry practically quadruples! There is quite a good selection of dishes on offer, mostly fast pub type food, and the outside seating is lovely when the weather is warm. They serve nice ice cream too. I wouldn't really recommend the Sunday Roast lunch menu however, it was very disappointing.

After a stroll along the beach popped in for a quick snack. No tables outside as it was quite warm deserted inside. Coffee and scones superb but the thunderstorm caught us midway back to our car - at least the downpour was warm

We have just been the annual Elie Scarecrow Festival where the locals put such a great effort into decorating scarecrows and displaying in their homes/venues.

Quick stop in Elie to feed the troops. Nothing fancy but good choice of lunch options including toasties, paninis, burger. Kids menu available (eg chicken goujons and chips) but ours opted for toasties which were served with a nice side salad. Perfect for a quick family lunch.

Sitting at the pavilion watching the golfers come and go, tennis playing in front of you, feels like you've stepped back in time in a great way. I could sit there all day. The service is friendly and relaxed. Food is great and reasonably priced.

Popped in for lunch. Was quite busy but got a table and our order was reasonably quickly served and consumed with gusto. Drinks came at same time as the meal. Recommended if in the area

Visited the cafe twice in the last 2 weeks asked for the same order each time. 2 lattes and a crispy bacon roll. First time coffee arrived ok and was good. Bacon roll arrived late and long after coffee was consumed although it was nicely cooked. Fed back the timing issue to staff who handled the comment well. Second time I asked for the food to be delivered at the same time. Roll delivered early and bacon wasn’t crispy. Coffees arrived after food was consumed. Brought it to the attention of the staff. Overall an ok experience but could be made better.

Despite being told the soup of the day had veggie stock, it had a distinctly hammy flavour. Also, not many veggie options on the menu. We like the ‘Pav’, but they will need to keep up with the changing times and tastes.

Not my claim, but we asked a pedestrian & she said so. We went. Fruit scones fresh from the oven & Americano. It was good.

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

When the weather turns cold, shops closed, you don’t want a restaurant, just a cuppa, Alexander and George will make you welcome. Enticed by the chips! Feel much better now. Thanks guys!

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
