I was very disappointed buy the service and over expensive, and the cafe needs a good clean and I won’t be back ether as they don’t treat male customers as they should.

I regularly pop in for a leisurely breakfast. It is always top quality no matter if it is a full cooked breakfast or a tasty scone. I have never had a bad one, there are always some seasonal specials to try- this morning was a yummy hot cross bun scone. On the odd occasion I am in for lunch there is a varied menu and always a choice of delicious soups. The staff are friendly and efficient always ready to give recommendations. To top it off the coffee is great varied seating means there is always a spot for quietly reading or larger groups having a chat.

Visited the cafe as we also do when down in Stranraer, very disappointed. Staff chatting behind counter and took a while to serve, we both order tea, I got and empire biscuit and my partner got a scone. My tea cup had lipstick on it and when I took it back , the girl behind the counter grabbed it from my hand and gave me another cup , no apology was given. The empire biscuit was ok and my partner said his scone was dry. We have been in often and the scones etc have always been nice but not this time . Overall extremely disappointing

We were not expecting to discover such a great place for coffee on a wet Tuesday in November. Delicious coffee and pastries and a warm welcome for us and our two dogs was a surprise and delight. Dogs are only permitted upstairs on the first floor, but comfy sofas and shelves full of books meant we could have stayed there all morning! However the sun came out at last so we grabbed the opportunity for a walk at the well kept harbour. Dnisi highly recommended!

There are lots of cafes in Stranraer, but we chose this one as it stated things were hand made and also the sausages were link sausages. They were Asda frozen ones so were the potato cakes and cheap wafer thin boiled bacon. The breakfast is supermarket value and they charge £7.95 no tomatoes or mushrooms. The Asda van pulled up and unloaded as we were eating. The staff are unfriendly and we were never asked if our meal was okay. Really annoyed that places think they can ask top prices and serve the cheapest supermarket rubbish, it’s nothing short of theft. The sausages were inedible.

Visited this coffee shop on a few occasions lately both with friends and was treated like diry by whom I believe is the manager! Always yaps about the track and trace sheet when she clearly watched us do it as we enter the premises and asks to do it again?? Then she proceeded to ask about a face covering which I also believe she should not be questioning and enforcing medically exempt people to wear them. She has a really horrible attitude which has really put us of visiting again

Possibly one of my favourite little cafes in Scotland. I’ve been coming here for about two years now on and off as a place to relax study and work. I like to sit upstairs with my laptop and enjoy the warm and welcoming environment. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. But undoubtedly, my favourite thing about this place, is the atmosphere. The calm and cozy interiors are matched perfectly with the smooth and soothing gentle low-fi jazz which fills the air, creating a delicately secluded little nest away from the rest of the world. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to read, study or just relax, this is the place has it all. I should also end by mentioning the warm and welcoming staff who make this pleasant little place just that little bit more perfect. - Amy :)

It's no bother for them catering for my dairy free daughter, they even do a vegan pizza and amazing vegan cake. They have a cosy little corner with kids toys, admittedly they have seen better days and could do with a refresh but it's nice to just have a cuppa while they play. Called in to D'nisi having seen that it was obviously rather popular mid morning with very few tables spare. A good sign. Ordered at the counter, - a special Americano coffee (+£0.30), a decaf Americano coffee and two extra cheesy scones. Price was £10.80 - which is certainly not cheap. Have to say that the coffees were good, but the cheese scones, having been advertised as award winning lacked cheese, and they were rather crumbly too. If they were 'extra' cheesy as ordered then we were certainly mis-sold. Hence my 'average' rating.

Dogs only welcomed outside yet upstairs always quiet. Visited D'nisi yesterday morning for coffee. Found the music blaring which together with the background conversation made it uncomfortable. Will not return.

Very very busy place. Locals seemed to love it and I have to admit the atmosphere was good. Breakfast was brill Plenty of menu options too. Staff were good too. If feeling hungry or even hungover this place will do it for you

Often visit Dnisi for lunch, for both takeaway and sit in. Children's meals are reasonably priced and not to large. My children love having a baby hot chocolate! Very friendly, helpful service from the staff who do a great job despite being busy most of the time. Nice food, always interesting soups and scones on offer. good portion sizes too.

This restaurant is part of Smiths hotel at Gretna Green. We were in the final days of our holiday in Scotland and wanted to have a special meal. We were staying at the hotel and saw this had good reviews. Well it didn’t disappoint. It was good that you could pick and mix from the a la carte menu and the bar menu. Every course was very good. Because we had courses from both menus I didn’t think it was too expensive. The service was good although it was very busy with other events going on. The staff were kept busy but were still attentive to our needs. Would recommend if you want something special or just for an evening meal.

A super bed and breakfast with a lovely vegan curry and home baked ecclefechan tart in the bar which had an open fire. Steve and Mary looked after us like a mum and a big brother. Could not do enough for us including a very welcome lift to and from hoddom Bridge as we were walking the annandale way. And a packed lunch to order. Will recommend to all, especially walkers.

We ate here and finished our meal, the waitress cleared away and we decided we'd have another round of drinks before leaving. We waited 5, 10 minutes and the waitress never came back. I went in search of someone but couldn't find our waitress. I didn't like to open the doors to the kitchen. We waited another 5 minutes and my wife said 'this is ridiculous' and went off in pursuit. She found our waitress in the bar (was she watching TV, did she fancy the barman?) and asked if we could get some service. The waitress said 'the restaurant is closed', as if we were being unreasonable in expecting to be served a round of drinks. No, the restaurant isn't closed if you've still got people sitting at a table you're serving and you haven't asked them if they want a dessert or offered them the bill but simply buggered off. So we said OK, can we just pay the bill. Which we did, and obviously didn't leave tip. We won't be going back.

A beautiful grand building in a wonderful setting. It was very quiet but the service and food were excellent. Not cheap but definitely worth it for a special occasion.
