Had a great time as usual at the Hole in the Wa. Always drop in when we visit Dumfries. Great staff, good atmosphere, very friendly.

Great pub banging atmosphere and good music. Will definitely go here again.

Didn't eat but the atmosphere and service was amazing and very dog friendly, does get really busy

Great place to have a real Scottish experience. The locals are lovely and very welcoming. A must see for people interested in history and the real Scotland!

What a gaff. Rocking n popping the second you go in. Karaoke blasting, MCs trying to spit 64 bars, fights going off, chairs getting thrown. Cheap bevs, sick all over the toilet. Would go back any day of the week

My husband and I and our dog visited Dumfries for the first time and popped into this bar on a Tuesday evening in August 2023. What a great wee bar. Filled with friendly characters who all made us very welcome. When to the ladies and couldn’t believe how busy the lounge was. Bingo then Karaoke. Friendly bar staff, proper measures and good pricing for house spirits. Planning another trip soon. If you enjoy a friendly atmosphere where everyone chats to you then visit here.

Always a busy pub, food is good through the day. Night-time is always busy, especially Thurs Friday and Saturday night. Good pint too.

used to go to this pub years ago but has gone downhill food inedible greasy tinned veg could not eat it will not be back the cook came out very dirty no one asked if the meal was ok iplace was not very clean

Sign at entrance clearly states Breakfast from 930am to 230pm. Arrived at 1041am to be advised they don’t start breakfasts until 11am. Was then chased out the door basically. Not the way to treat customers. Went elsewhere

I visited this Pub about 40 years ago so it was good to visit for the first time since COVID restriction were lifted. I found the pub to be busy but was served with a smile and very quickly I will be visiting again very soon

Was in on Friday morning reasonably busy young man behind bar very pleasant I think his name was Jack smiling and chatting away to everyone good price I had fosters nice and cold pub clean and tidy look forward to my next visit

Very quaint, friendly pub, good prices...good music, we were recommended to go by a friend. They do food, but only until a certain time, so were not able to try it.....we found it hard to find as it is literally a hole in the wall....its on the high street near the moot hall

Visited this pub tonight and was absolutely disgusted by one particular bar maid. Her attitude was awful towards customers, very rude and she done nothing but play immature games behind the bar grabbing other staff members inappropriately and hitting people. Will not be coming back, disgusting and off putting. Massively disappointed.

The busiest bar in dumfies, weekend based on karaoke (modern stuff) night starts slowly and is jumpin by 11.00. Gets too busy at times and can be quite intimidating later on.got to try it.

Visit Dumfries quite often. First time we have been in the hole in the wall. My wife and I were made to feel very welcome. Great live music and good beer and a lovely atmosphere. Spent most of Saturday afternoon and evening here. Definitely will be visiting again. A big thank you to all for a fantastic time.

Always loved it staff are amazing

Avoid this place unless you want to be involved in Sectarian party. Its a sash bash with all the usual songs with add ons such as F*ck the Pope etc. Its a pity because its been there for years and was never like this. It appears to have been taken over by a bigoted owner who allows the local Orange population to take over and spoil everyone elses enjoyment

Far to many people in in a pandemic there was no way of social distances being adeared in there cran as many in for cash in the till I left without having a drink

This is a good place with a friendly atmosphere. Be wary at the weekends however, it can be full of Cougars! But if that's your thing - enjoy!

Please please train your staff NOT to hold the top of the glass (Where you drink from), no matter how clean the staff ASSUME their hands are. Even surgeons wear gloves. I made a comment, however, I was answered thus, " my hands are clean" which is bordering on the bizzare, especially when said member of staff had just touched her mouth and her hair.

Good pub! Had a good laugh the other night! They do karaoke every night so can be a good place to go have some fun with your mates! If you smoke, they've got a smoking area with outside heaters. I'm pretty sure they said they don't sell any craft beers.

Smashing pub ran by a very friendly couple from Liverpool (sorry but forget the names) reasonable prices, good banter, busy, worth a visit. Had we have been in the are for longer we would have returned as some other nearby places were empty whilst this pub was busy, the stewards were on hand but not needed, the guys were also very friendly. great place with great people

Usually this pub is great with great music and karaoke, I checked their website and it stated that it was open as usual open till 1am but we had 1 drink then were told to leave as they were closing it was only 10:30pm, and there was 10 staff members on to the 15 customers, I know that covid rules have eased now so shouldn't they be trying to get back to some kind of normality.
