We ordered lunch from here for a full office. Hot food was okay but the salads are a joke for the price. £7 for this salad and we received 1 slice of cucumber, 1 tomato wedge. The side salad had more cucumber and tomato’s in than this! Only giving two stars because the hot food was alright. Disappointing.

We had a day out yesterday and ended up here for coffee. The sign at the entrance said the cafe was open until 4.30. As it was just before 4 when we parked round the back we thought we had plenty of time. However when we entered the cafe I approached the counter to order I was told in no uncertain terms that they were shut. When I pointed out that their sign had said it was open until 4.30 the rude assistant pointed to the sign on the counter which said last orders 4. I said it was 4 and we only wanted coffees she said 'well we're shut'. You would think that after 2 years of pandemic that businesses would be grateful for any money they could get, well that's not the case in this cafe. We had been going to buy some plants but left empty handed and on the way out told the assistant in the shop that we wouldn't be back. Their loss is someone else's gain

A super bed and breakfast with a lovely vegan curry and home baked ecclefechan tart in the bar which had an open fire. Steve and Mary looked after us like a mum and a big brother. Could not do enough for us including a very welcome lift to and from hoddom Bridge as we were walking the annandale way. And a packed lunch to order. Will recommend to all, especially walkers.

With its dark wood furnishings, including a very large gantry, and most of the wall space covered in framed rugby strips, photos etc, the public bar in the Black Swan could almost be described as dark and old fashioned. It can also feel cramped at times as everyone tends to shun the other bar (and rightly so - ‘cos it’s horrible). The public bar is a place where you have a decent chance of meeting some wee, unintelligible drunk bloke (or two) in the corner, but it is also a place where it is easy to strike up conversation with locals at the bar. In many ways the Swan is like a pub from the past and is pretty unique in Kelso. Perhaps that’s why we always come in whenever we visit the town. It is an ordinary, no frills, traditional Scottish pub with good service and good lager and good banter. It suits us perfectly well.

Never stay at this hotel. The restaurant food is delicious and large portions. My family use to regularly eat here every Sunday before Covid. After Covid there's a staff shortage that affects the quality of the services. I only visit the restaurant again because the hotel is closing on the June 2nd this year. It is sad to see the hotel close. Hopefully someone buys this hotel and turn it into an apartments.

Called in here for a bite to eat and overall very happy, bit of a limited menu but each managed to find something suitable, service very good and friendly and the food was very nice and tasty special mention to the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was fantastic. Sadly I have been to a couple of eateries in the gretna area in the past which have fallen below an acceptable level for me but this is not one of them and would certainly return here.

Was refused service as they didn't accept my passport as valid ID. The staff said they don't take passports and they believed that that should be the way in all other pubs anyway. I have never ever encountered such a situation in the UK and they made no mention of suspected fake ID so it makes me wonder if they were discriminating against me for other reasons. Went to The Imperial pub round the corner instead, glad I did as it was a much more pleasant place anyway.

Inflexible rules on Gift Vouchers. The GM, Kevan Potter refused to extend our 7- month out of date GV for its mere £50 value; we had proposed to spend a significant amount more on a two night D, B & B stay. As a result, we’ll avoid this Hotel and spend our money at a more empathetic venue. We’ve lost our £50 but what’s the “cost” to your establishment? Short sighted attitude.
