The best restaurants serving British food in Lowlands

Was in with my sister for my birthday lunch, from start 2 finish was warming and the gentleman looking after us definitely knows his job very polite and no job was a problem , I no been in hospitality over 20+ years I will definitely be back and recommend to my friends and family

Fresh fish and chips made to order in a cardboard box you get lots of chips and a large fish best fish n chips in the borders bar none

We have eaten here a handful of times,so decided to stay a couple of days...comfy beds and warm room.The food is excellent,we ate twice on the Saturday and had Sunday lunch,the locals in the bar friendly.a nice place to stay,thank you Laura.

Fantastic hotel we found just over the border en route to our trip into central Scotland. Very welcoming, fabulous food. We had asked for a dog friendly room and we were given a small cottage. Super clean and beds so comfortable. Wished we were staying longer and will definitely return .

Not the best of Wetherspoons. Quite dirty inside. Tables covered in empty glasses but 5 behind the bar? Drinks ok though

Absolutely awful bacon and sausage almost raw and bacon very salty. potato scone burnt. Wouldn't eat there again

Great find! A lovely little pub that serves great, homecooking food. The service was also really good with a lovely, friendly lady doing everything! Dog friendly too.

Good staff, tight run ship, food is average.

Down to earth place. And go understanding that.

Great friendly place to stay for a few

Been here a couple of times and find the food really tasty. Staff always friendly and great bears!!

The only member of staff that did a great job was Therese with the red hair. Nothing was a problem for her, great service every time.

Mackays was absolutely the best fish and chips I had tasted in years. The portions were very generous, and the menu was surprisingly wide-ranging too.

We were planning to walk the Jubilee Path from Kippford to Rockcliffe, so we decided to fuel up with some coffee and cake beforehand. Dog friendly, cozy old pub.

Excellent meal. We had 3 courses and everything was beautifully presented, great quality and very tasty. The blue steak was especially good. Staff were friendly and helpful when we made a special request about seating. Definitely recommended.
