A group of 10 including children, parents and grandparents had the most fantastic evening. We were given one of the dining rooms to ourselves, and the setup was perfect. Comfortable chairs, the highest quality table cloths, cutlery, and glasses. The scene was set for a great evening! We started with drinks which included a fine Rioja for the more discerning of us, and some fine ales, which were thoroughly enjoyed. The children and drivers also had a fabulous range of soft drinks to choose from. Whilst consuming the aforementioned beverages, we perused the excellent menu. Lots of fresh local produce, and lots of interesting options. The staff proceeded to take our orders. You will not find a more warm, helpful, professional team anywhere else. We were very well looked after. Starters ranged from seafood, to brie, and the sensational venison and salami with caramelised onions and olives: wow! The mains didn't disappoint either. Mussels in white wine sauce was a big hit, as were the pork medallions, the chicken, the duck, the mighty Wheatsheaf Burger, and the fish and chips for the kids. We didn't think there would be room for a 3rd course, but it was just irresistible! An incredible selection of ice creams were available, but no chocolate sauce ---- well, that is what we thought. How wrong we were. Michael, The Proprietor, headed off to the kitchen and prepared a chocolate sauce to the children's delight! The Easter cheesecake was enjoyed as was the excellent cheeseboard (which was the perfect accompaniment to a 2nd Rioja!). But there's more! Two of our party had travelled from far afield, one of whom had a penchant for sticky toffee pudding which was not on the menu that evening. The delightful Jo who had looked after us so well all evening, had a chat with The Chef (Jean) who was more than happy to make our guest's own personal sticky toffee pudding. The perfect way to end a perfect evening! Everything was perfect, even the bill at the end, which was very good value for both the quality of the food, and the service. If you haven't visited yet: then you are missing this gem of The Scottish Borders.

Both had the fish and chips. It came quickly and was nicely cooked. The cheesecake dessert was delicious. Had two glasses of wine which was reasonably priced. The service throughout was very friendly. Overall good value and a good bar meal. We will come back.

We ordered lunch from here for a full office. Hot food was okay but the salads are a joke for the price. £7 for this salad and we received 1 slice of cucumber, 1 tomato wedge. The side salad had more cucumber and tomato’s in than this! Only giving two stars because the hot food was alright. Disappointing.

Great find! A lovely little pub that serves great, homecooking food. The service was also really good with a lovely, friendly lady doing everything! Dog friendly too.

Had a nice time at spoons in hawick today. Would like to mention Jamie as he is always chatting with the customers and good on a bingo night. Service from the bar was good tonight while I was in and the food was nice with a quick delivery. Alex rooney in the kitchen is great ( he is my brother so possibly biased) but food is always tasty and quickly made when he is on shift.

We recently had Sunday lunch in the evening in this establishment. We visit the area every year and were impressed by how this particular venue had been renovated to a high standard. Food was delicious but as ours was the last booking of the day we felt that the staff just wanted to get us out of there as quickly as possible!. Most of the staff were lovely as friendly (shout out to the two Asian staff, absolutely amazing) but one waitress in particular seemed very grumpy and unprofessional, not really explaining in any friendly detail why we had to get our drinks order in so quickly and then sighing when we tried to order drinks with our meal. For the price we paid, we expected a more professional service from all staff. The food however, was delicious. Good portions which were fresh and lovingly prepared. But maybe if there isn’t sufficient time to give guests an exceptional experience, maybe the last booking should be an acceptable time to accommodate the working hours of the staff.

Food was a good size. However, the meat on a mixed grill was overcooked. They forgot the extra haggis we ordered and were not informed there was no whiskey sauce as advertised with it. By the time the peppercorn sauce came, the meal was almost over. Tables were full of dirty plates on arrival but were cleaned during our visit. It felt quite dull in there.

The only member of staff that did a great job was Therese with the red hair. Nothing was a problem for her, great service every time.
