Make sure you go to toilet before food because you won't want to walk that far. Food was good better than other spoons in the surrounding areas.

1 staff member serving behind the bar! 1 Serving food and cleaning up must've had a mad rush as there wasn't much cleaning going on!! Food sat under heat laps for 10mins before Serving! Food was lovely everyone enjoyed and said how tasty food was! Hopefully more staff in if we visit again.

Stopped to get lunch whilst working down here one Sunday. Absolutely grim and probably one of the worst Spoons I've had the misfortune to endure (and for Wetherspoons, the bar is usually low). Numerous tables with dirty plates etc remaining on them. We chose one and transferred the detritus to a nearby vacant table with other dirty crockery on it. The female server with short hair "wiped" our greasy, sauce-stained table with three of four swipes of a grubby cloth, smearing the remnants of previous food debris over the surface, leaving a few curved tracks of less-dirty surface. My work colleague sent food back twice. The panini and cheese was cold and "unmelted" and then they forgot to put the bacon in the Chicken and Bacon panini. At that point he surrendered and asked for a refund. Lazy, weird staff who were squirting water at each other behind the counter when my pal was having his refund processed. Entirely inappropriate behaviour. My own food was palatable but I'd gone for fish and chips due to its simplicity. The fish was pretty good. A terrible experience overall.

Not the best Wetherspoons and not the worst. Food was not very nice, gammon was very dry and rind was like rubber! Very busy and staff were struggling but trying hard.

A few times recently, we have been and items aren't available, or when your order comes, things are missing. For example egg, peas or tomato off a large mixed grill, yesterday ordered a side of scampi, which should be 8 pieces only 5 arrived. We complained and were served the missing three pieces a little later with a sorry. Fair enough, but no here free drink or anything. The bar was full of dirty glasses and on a previous trip every table had dirty plates on it. We have been visiting here over 5 years and things have definitely changed since May time.

Steak was brick hard, if you want it medium rare order it raw. Delivered the wrong burger that was ordered. Flies were constantly around the table. No tables cleared throughout the time of our visit, and it wasn't exactly busy.

It's a spoons, you know what you are getting and it's quick service!! 2 meals 2 drinks £20 ...... cant beat it!!

Food is not always the best but I still enjoy going out there. The staff and service is great. Always good for having a drink.

We stopped here for lunch on our trip to Edinburgh through the historic route A7. We parked just opposite the main entrance and went in. This is definitely a big old pub, with good infrastructure and nice big screens for sports. All the tables were not clean. We placed an order for 4 and waiting till it arrived, but didn’t hear anything from any of my sources. Food arrived somehow quick, over fried and not that good.

All meat was burnt like leather.

Good food, good beer, very busy but food served hot and with good grace. My choice was not available so I chose vegetarian lasagne, but what arrived certainly wasn't vegetarian. Was very nice, but I suspect a "proper" vegetarian would have been very vocal at the error. All on all, very good, food was plentiful and good value. Good surroundings too without any suggestion of haste in departing. Very enjoyable meal. Definitely come again. Update: many years on, doesn't change. Still very good value, no further vegetarian upsets, bingo nights VERY popular. I'm not a regular but always very satisfied with going there. Only issue isn't their fault, but no longer dog friendly (guide dogs etc excepted). It's a national decision, managers having no discretion. Was sitting outside another branch on the pavement (Edinburgh Waverley) and was told to leave!! Just being aware. All in all a decent place to stop for an evening of conviviality. Hawick is small and having a 'Spoons' here is a welcome asset.

My girlfriend and I both got the crunchy chicken strip burger and alcoholic drink for £6.44 each. We put the order in at 5:10pm and the food had came by 5:22pm - however, the drinks didn’t come until 5:29pm. The food was served hot and tasted nice. We continued to get drinks the rest of the night and service was relatively quick. Compared to other Wetherspoons we’ve been to in Glasgow etc, the price of everything was so cheap here! Overall if we were ever in the area again, we would happily return as the vibe was good and we felt safe here.

Very clean and designed very tastefully

2nd visit here this year and both times we sent the food back. First time is was stone cold this time the medium rare steak was raw and full of gristle. So tough I couldn’t cut through it with a steak knife. I complained and got a new meal. However when that came is was just as bad. Wrapped it up in a napkin and took it home for the dogs! Let’s hope they can chew through it.

Table we chose to start with was still dirty and full of dishes, i went to ask to get it cleaned but was ignored so ended up just going to a different table. Cuttlery was still covered in food.

Awful - will never return. Really slow service, got drinks wrong giving Half's when pints were purchased- didn't fix. Kitchen got every meal wrong - fixed 1 badly, ignored the second and totally forgot the 3rd and needed reminded- once everyone had finished their meal I asked how much longer to be told they forgot and hadn't started it so had to continue to wait so my child could eat 15min after everyone else whilst everyone wanted to leave. Never again!

We were invited out for dinner with my Aunt & Uncle. It was not busy (5:30-6 pm) maybe it was because most tables were dirty. A girl came to wipe a table for us, not a very good job, still dirty. Went up to place our order, no wine!! When our order came, I had a salad, they had no dressing!! 3 ordered fish and chips they were not bad and one curry which was good. Staff were ok didn’t go out of there way to accommodate. The place is looking worn & dirty. On holidays from Canada, we were here last year as well, it was a bit better then but not much. Probably won’t eat there again. The venue has great potential, the owners/management need to put there heads together to turn things around.

I know many people like to put down wetherspoons but it is what it is cheap and cheerful drink and food. It serves it's purpose, where else can you and a pint of ale for £1.79-£1.99? And reasonable food and a drink for £10. The breakfasts and curries are good for the price, and this particular pub has a fairly nice setting especially in winter with open fire. It's also open late. Bingo nights seem very popular but my only complaint is they should keep an area open for non bingo players and area like the hizzy room for non bingo players. Wish they had a better range on spirits and ales/beers like they use to.

Tables dirty and uncleared. A Member of staff abrupt when politely asked to refill coffee machine with milk. No tea in the building..

Professional and patient staff, very helpful and polite. The food was great and the service was quick. Pleasant decor, and atmosphere with private areas. Nice experience. In the Hawick town centre. Very welcome, reasonably priced place to relax and get a cuppa before exploring the town.

It was a bit cold and windy outside, so I called-in for a quick 'warm-me-up' breakfast. This was very nicely cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were attentive and relaxed. and the general atmosphere of the venue was good One reasons I visit Wetherspoons is because they operate a 'No Canine' policy (unless for Assistance reasons) I do not care to eat my Food in the presence of someone's dog.

We have visited the Bourtree often over the last 10 years after shopping (We live 20 miles away) the last year we have seen a downhill decline mainly in staff attitude and poor food presentation,, We experienced 2 bad meals in December 2023, We decided to give the Bourtree a miss during January 24 learning of other peoples bad experiences re the food...On Monday 12th January we decided to give the Bourtree a try....I ordered Fish n Chips with Mushy peas; my better half had the Steak n Kidney pudding with Potato Mash & Garden Peas...1 regular size Orange Cordial with Fizzy Water...£17.42 p....There were only 4 people sitting at tables so not very busy...The Fish n Chips/Steak n Kidney Pudding arrived after sitting under the heated lamp for some time....The Fish batter was hard/overcooked fish..the chips were Soggy & mushy peas luke warm....The Steak n Kidney pudding was very dry as though it had been heated through many times..the Mash Potato/Garden Peas/Gravy was luke warm...all in all a disgusting meal....Had our fill of the Bourtree now..a lovely venue let down by a poor quality food presentation and bad Management !!!!

Went there to have an 80th party for dad, the food wasn't the best, I got a stake with mash.. with no sauce so it was pretty dry, my wife got a chicken salad that too was very dry, the drinks though were reasonably priced

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant in Scotland! The food was incredibly delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I highly recommend this place for a great dining experience!

A really nice, friendly pub full of character in Hawick. Inside you will find various rooms in which to sit in and relax. No complaints whatsoever and would highly recommend it ☆☆☆☆☆

Can only speak about our own experience on Christmas and Boxing days In the lovely Border town visiting for a couple of days Although the pub was only open for a few hours on Christmas day it was a pleasure to drop in for a visit and have a couple of drinks Not overally busy but nice atmosphere due to the majority of customers being off duty members of staff celebrating Christmas Boxing day was very much busier with family groups eating and drinking Kitchen staff kept very busy and coped very well bar staff friendly, efficient and cheerful. Tables cleared quickly with the assistance of management who made the time to chat with the customers. We say a big THANK YOU to management and staff for making our visit to the Town and the pub a pleasant pleasurable couple of days. On our departure on the 27th it was good to see that the money was well spent on the flood defences with the rivers in full spate Strong winds with torrential rain could not dampen our spirits as we left Hawick on our way up to Edinburgh.

A group of 12 people every breakfast had an item of some kind missing from the plate, eggs, potato scones, toast ( that wasn't toasted). Every meal was cold and took over an hour to be served to us. We asked the lady waiting on our table if we could speak to the manager and the reply was unfortunately I am the manager who then just walked away from us without discussing our issues with us. Will never set foot in the place again. Totally disrespected as a customer

Had a lovely meal here with quick service and in a bright, welcoming environment. Have dropped one star for service only because the order was mistakenly processed incorrectly. This was, however, rectified immediately with apologies and did not detract from the experience. Will definitely return.

Food mediocre, No sour cream on my nachos and a VERY VERY small portion compared to other spoons. Basically no chilli sauce with humous fries. Macaroni cheese bites were cold. Table not that clean. Noone at any time come to see how things were, perhaps they knew!!!!!

This is yet another architectural gem JD W has saved from likely dereliction. A gem in a Borders town which has seen former glory and still Keeping it's head up. The only improvement to be made would be for it to become a JD W Hotel offering. I'm sure the upper floors have rooms locked away waiting renovation to be resplendent in the light of day.

Ordered food and drink only one bar staff on we finished food before drinks came. Best not to order on app. Black pudding destroyed was just crispy hockey puc. Shame as eggs cooked well. But the mullet waiter pleasant but not enough to run place on his own. We go out for breakfast daily but avoid this place now. And as a group of 15 a lot of business to lose

Raw egg whites chewy steak and burnt black pudding obituary deep fried. After we finished our mains pudding came out and instead of clearing the table they just put our pudding inbetween the dirty plates had to clear the table ourselves Pretty poor seems to be going down hill when they cant even fry an egg you know there's problems

Picked the veggie breakfast.Value for money .it was like eat as much as you can for £3.14.Pint was £1.27! Stayed to watch England beat the Ozzies

Food was great (arrived quickly and was hot too). Atmosphere was good. The building inside and out looked clean. Staff were polite and helpful when needed too.

Enjoyable evening out, had a meal which was inexpensive and some drinks. Table service from the app. Punctual and friendly. Can't really beat witherspoon prices it is what it is. Pub grub decent.

Great atmosphere and helpful employees. The food is very reasonably priced, but the menu is huge and the quality suffers a bit. However I would definitely come again for the desert alone.

It's a Wetherspoons, if you don't know what you're getting I assume you're a tourist. 😂 Anyway I posted really just to ask in an open format what the point of having KPI's and targets is, if the staff are going to mark the drinks order as received almost 15 minutes before it actually was.

Great Wetherspoon pub, good atmosphere, only problem ordered . . Eggs Benedict two mornings running for breakfast . . . No sir, sorry we have no poached eggs ????, and the " Bloomer toast " was a strange thin rubbery substitute for thick crusty Bloomer what on earth was that ???, apart from that enjoyed the place thoroughly and will be back, but please sort those silly little items mentioned!.

Couldn’t really fault this ‘Spoons’, first visit, will definitely go back. Very reasonably priced food, nice beer according to my husband. Food very tasty, staff were friendly and helpful, clean and welcoming pub. Nice to be able to have several places to sit and was good to not have to share the space with small children, we wanted a quiet lunch! Good range of food, great to have the endless tea and coffee. I had a decaf latte which was the best coffee I had had in a very long time, all without the ridiculous coffee machine noises you usually get when ordering one of these. I’m not convinced they really are amazing coffees, definitely not in my opinion, and therefore they feel they can charge treble the price at times. I will stick to Weatherspoons coffee in future when in need.
