A converted church by the looks of it retaining a bit of character. Offers a beer garden but as usual upstairs toilets Very quite when we visited

The only real way to rate a Wetherspoons is to review the adventure to the toilets, and how wild the carpet is. The toilets provided a suitable sense of exploration (+), but unfortunately the carpet was dull (-). Overall, a good to very good spoons. Friendly staff, nice looking beer garden. A new carpet could see the star rating upgraded.

Food and drink excellent value and always good...been in here on several occasions...staff are courteous too... Would definitely recommend this venue..

Ok the disabled toilets needed a good clean though.

Staff friendly but same as last time no one ever cleans tables when they're empty so asked for a cloth to do it myself pizzas,looked great but pasta meal was not great

Came on Friday lunchtime, there was dirty dishes everywhere, tables needed cleaned, staff on their phones, and food not very hot. We sit in same seat every time, so can see thru kitchen door, food sits on hot plate for while. There were no clean cups ready

Just had the worst breakfast of my life eggs benedict was awful had the same meal alot of times here in the past was always very good felt sick as soon as leaving today will never back in that establishment, absolutely disgusting

Very disappointing. My son was sick after the last visit but decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately I was sick this time. Will not be back .

Always enjoy a visit to Spoons in Gala' ... Can be loud at times but hey, it's al gud banter n adds to the atmosphere... Not had it spoilt yet! Toilets upstairs, well it is a Spoons, 🤘😆

Don't have the American cheese burger it's rubbish. I'm shocked they even sell that.

It is what it is nothing special, food was microwaved, I suppose if you had an all day special breakfast you might get a freshly cooked egg, the service was average you gave your order & didn't even get a smile or thank you, the atmosphere was non existent it was dark & dingy & that was at the tables at the front by the wall to wall windows, won't be going back there in a hurry that's for sure..

There was a few of us in for a meal Friday tea Time the food was very good so freshly cooked and hot. Staff were quick and friendly well done we all enjoyed it thank-you

I find the staffing levels have slowed down. But it's not as bad as The Dunfermline branch. That's dropped totally

Good free WiFi so easy to order via app. Quick service of drinks and food to our table even at prime time on a Friday evening. The vegetarian curry was really delicious, great flavours and mild in heat even though it has 2 chilli's on the menu. The half roast Lemon and herb chicken was well cooked and (everyone's favourite word) moist with lots of flavour. The mash was okay but had spent a little too long in the microwave as per the curve solid mash rings. Great availability of items on the menu, on a couple of things not available. Staff were friendly and cheery. Toilets were clean and we'll maintained. Will definetly go back and would recommend.

Nipped into Wetherspoons midway through our regular Saturday walk. Ordered via the app which is normal now and we each had a Scottish Breakfast. The potato scone was a let down. It felt it had been in the fryer for a few minutes longer than it should have been. Toast & black pudding was a plus (not in the small breakfast) and the two cups of Tea was welcome. Overall worth the price but quality was average at best. Service was ok.

What you expect to find at Wetherspoons. Cheap and cheerful springs to mind, I suppose. However, the food was not great. I ordered fish and chips. A good old staple diet. Nothing too complicated. My fish was well over cooked. The batter was dry and too crisp. The poor fish inside looked and tasted like it had the life ducked out of it. Chips double fried, or just over fried. I wouldn't go back to this branch again. Although I have used other Wetherspoons with much better food.

Just went for a drink. Had to queue for ages before being served. The staff all looked like they wanted to be somewhere else,a smile or please and thank you would have been nice. Cannot fault the beer 🍻

I only gave this 3 stars for atmosphere as it wasn't busy being a Tuesday afternoon. Regardless of that it was a good pub to be in so U couldn't really comment on atmosphere of the pub

Awful night. Although we booked, tables weren't ready for us. staff were rude. I vomitted and a family member had diarrhoea. Poor show

What a terrible night, the bar staff were inattentive and slow, I had to wait 5 minutes to get served, usually not a problem but the pub was near empty. As for the management, save your complaints for someone who gives a damn, what a bad-tempered power-tripping bunch. I think they must really hate their jobs and really should look at different careers. It's called the hospitality business for a reason. Also, the pub lacks atmosphere it's a big empty shed, I think next time in the borders I'm off to Melrose.

It's wetherspoons you get what you expect, well priced food quickly served and pleasant atmosphere. Only minor gripe was the lamb was a bit undercooked for my liking. Still aye everything else and managed to squeeze in a bit of the kids pizza 🍕.

Would be good if staff didn't socialise at the bar and spent more time clearing tables. Guests next to me had to ask for a table to be cleared before they could sit down.

No atmosphere to talk of. Never asked if our food was okay.

Nice little weatherspoons with great food, and an outdoor seating area which has signs up for non smoking however we saw quite a few smoking but were not challenged on this. Despite great service, there seemed to be few staff about but we did enjoy our visit.

Galashiels weatherspoons was lovely yesterday. Food came out quick and hot. Good value for money. Only problem was the hot chocolate didn't really taste nice it was very plain and not very hot chocolatey my friend mentioned this to a member of staff but the lady advised there was hot chocolate in the machine. I was wondering maybe the hot chocolate that had been dispensed has left a gap and it needed the rest pushed into the system like just stirred. The lady kindly swapped it for a juice which I appreciated a lot.

Just like any wetherspoons it's has its place among restaurants. Relatively average food and a fair price. Cheap enough beer.

I like weatherspoons food but the cleanliness and staff attitude let's this place down. Tables never cleaned, menus all sticky and staff are terrible. There isn't any competition in Galashiels so this is why people still go there and why they still open .

First time in here. I have fish and chips and a glass of OJ with lemonade. Fish was piping hot, chips was warmish. Didn't had to wait long.

Like most Wetherspoon pubs food was good and more than enough,first visit to this pub but will come back next time am in Gala.

It's a spoons, and you know what to expect to a large degree. But this one's pretty poor. Staff completely disinterested, zero customer service, cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired and food quality is well below par even considering what you're paying for it.

Visited at lunchtime today, food was possibly the worse bar food I have ever tasted, chicken, dry/overcooked, rice 1/2 bag of uncle bens microwave rice, only decent thing was the exit.

Visited on Tuesday while in Galashiels. Wetherspoons may be much maligned, but they do tend to be consistent, and offer great value. Hunters Hall is bright, uncrowded, with very clean Toilets. A couple of things missing from the menu, but still plenty of choice. We had Scampi and Chips, and Fish and Chips, both came with Peas, As I was driving, I had a Fresh Orange, and my colleague had a pint of Brewdog. Food was tasty and certainly filled a hole, and drinks were nice. At £17 for the lot - Fantastic value. It's not a Five Star restauarant, but it did fit the bill, and I'm sure that I will return.

Nice sunny seat by the window. Very large wrapbwith breaded chicken fillet and a glass of wine. Good value for money.

Sunday at 2.30pm. Not that busy, tables not cleared, menu's dirty and torn, cleared tables have not been wiped. Food hasn't arrived yet but whatever it is like I don't feel great about eating in a place that isn't clean.

Wasn't the best Wetherspoons I've been to. The service was OK. The pub itself looked tired and dirty and in need of a makeover. The self-service coffee machine needed a good clean, and the self-service area next to the coffee machine needed a serious deep clean. When we sat at a table, the top had come adrift from its screwed fixings, so we had to sit with our coffee in our hands. After this experience, going to the gents was not going to happen. Overall, it's not the best experience.

Went there last night for a mother's day meal but we have been ill since. My daughter is off school having thrown up 4 times today already. I've been not well today either which cannot be a coincidence. Food normally excellent and staff are always friendly.

Popped in today for a coffee and some breakfast with friends. Very decent breakfast and fast, efficient and friendly service. Significant improvement from my last review. Keep up the good work! The revamping was at least ten years overdue. Looks very nice. Service was overly (extremely) slow. Food very mediocre. Why is it so difficult to clear and wipe tables? I used to think Wetherspoons was good value for money but it's becoming tedious. Pity really, as I used to often frequent. March 2023: No complaints about tables needing cleared, far efficient service and a hearty breakfast for £2.99!

Me and my husband came in this morning around 9am for breakfast, i was completely disgusted at the cleanliness or should i say lack of. As you can see plug sockets not cleaned, stained cups, dust all over the top of the bench seats, stains on the wooden paneling, stains on the hand sanitiser station, the area around the coffee machines was filthy. The food was not great my egg was slimey on top which makes me feel sick, the bacon was very pink and undercooked and i left half of my meal because i felt so grossed out. I won’t be back unless the cleanliness improves .

My granddaughter and I had the worst meal ever from there yesterday, Saturday, 28th January 2023. My granddaughters meal did not fit the description at all and what was requested at the bar was totally ignored!! You would have needed the teeth of a horse to chew the chicken, it was so dry and tough!! The first chicken being returned due to it being cold. We didn't and couldn't finish it at all. I was not impressed with the service from the waitress either, my dinner being banged down on the table in front of me!! We may visit again but will definitely not eat in there again!! Out of 10 I would only give it a 1, I'm afraid.

Visited this establishment, as many time before. Ordered a gourmet steak, which was basically inedible. Was all grissle. Explained to waitress, who apologised. So where does it actually leave the customer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have visited a few times and honestly have had good value meals getting what we pay for. I find the food tasty. There’s always something on the menu I like. There are various separate seating areas so you have a choice. The drinks are reasonably priced compared to anywhere else around the area. Staff are fine and apologise if they keep you waiting if you go to the bar and its never even that long. A comfortable place to go for a good value meal and one or two or five drinks 😊🍺🍷

Went in today for lunch, three adults and two kids. The place was an absolute mess no clean tables for a larger party. All the tables covered in plates and food. No staff to ask to clear tables. One spoons where I won’t be back. We left and went McDonalds.

Visited Hunters Hall today with my parents and friends, although the food was good I have to say the attitude of the shift leader on today was absolutely disgusting, not only did we feel we where and inconvenience but she clearly did not want to be there either. No please or thank yous, not even a smile. I feel that someone who’s not as confident in a social setting would actually find her intimidating. Thankfully the other staff where lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. As someone working with the public I think maybe more training would be advised.

In end of Aug 22 I go take a dinner with my son at this place... I arrived 18.50 around this time... I order the food 19.25 I finish my dinner I was going order just desert for my son... 19.25 a manager call Hailey come to inform at table 20.00 I Need to leave the building... make me feel not welcome when I have 35 minutes to enjoy my time with my son ... when is not the first time the stuff come tell me this I already know 8pm I need to leave.. this is disrespectful for any costumer... put some information at the menu for the costumer can read and have peaceful dinners with family... if the time was 19.50 or 55 is understandable come inform the costumer NOT 35 minutes before....raise your standards Many thanks

The worse Wetherspoons I have visited. The food was cold as was the attitude of the staff.

It sells alcohol so it must be good. Severe lacking in cheese, according to my mate Ben, but he doesn't want to complain about it.. and no car park. Everybody loves a good car park.
